Full textThe thesis proposes an interpretation of j. J. Rousseau's nouvelle heloise which focuses on the problem of conflict and ambivalence in love. The novel has a more complex structure than is attributed to it in the traditional interpretations, which tend to divide it into two parts, the first of which exalts the passion and the second which completely denies it. The thesis of this work is that the novel can be divided into three phases: 1) that of the passion between julie and saint-preux (see part i of the thesis: eg. Analysis of the concept of passion from "amour courtois" to mme la fayette, from the "philosophes" to rousseau; the relationship between passion and imagination, the problem of time and the duration of love); 2) that of julie's renouncement of passion for saint-preux and of marriage (ie. Conjugal love) to wolmar (see part ii: eg. Analysis of the concept of "amour-amitie" in rousseau and in 18th century, as that which guarantes happiness ("bonheur"); 3) that of the nostalgia for desire, expressed by julie before her death (see part iii: eg. Analysis by means of psychoanalytical interpretation of the concept of desire, both in nouvelle heloise and in the autobiographical writings of rousseau)

Full textProtection of animals arises in a general pattern of radical changes in the relationships between men and animals. On the one hand, militant societies gathering the most active protectors appear. On the other hand, signs of men's fondness for beasts as well as determination to ensure a better protection and reproof of cruelty to animals increase more and more. Militant protection of animals is in keeping with the general pattern of social reformation. Its promoters intend to fight against people's acts of cruelty against animals. They want to moralise men and improve the condition of animals. Their action rests upon love for the former, which is in keeping with the tradition of philanthropy or christian charity, as well as on compassion towards the latter. If consensus is easily found on some themes (horses), there are controversial subjects too : protectors are divided on the behaviour towards dogs, and on vivisection. A moderate protection centred on man (moral progress and economical benefit) is opposed to a radical protection which emphasises feelings and rejects a relationship between men and animals based on the absolute domination of man. There is no such dispute among the french society of the time, which advocates only the utility protection. Protective feelings are shared to a great extent; structured opposition to zoophily remains marginal, coming from part of the catholic clergy, and from some leftists. Public authorities show an interest in its moralising aspects, but they are not ready to take constraining measures against violent games involving animals, which are supported by part of the population. Just before the first world war, radical claims centre on vivisection. The period's fears express themselves there

Full textFreud has focused his research on the etiology of psychosis and the specificities of object relations in psychosis since the foundation of his theory. He has confronted with the impossibility of the treatment of the psychotic patient by his methods because they seem to be incapable of transference due to their narcissism and their regression to the autoerotic stage of the development. After Freud, Lacan questions the specificities of the psychotic structure and identifies the foreclosure of the Name of the Father, a primordial signifier, as the etiologic source of the psychosis. This thesis is a tension between case studies of three psychotic women and the approach of Freud and Lacan. Our hypothesis is: love and transference have unique dimensions in neurosis and psychosis. However they still organize the life of the subject in all the structures psyches.Through love, the psychotic subject tries to compensate structural fault. It is one of the only defenses against the Real and it is an attempt to cure. The psychotic subject can form an ego by identifying with the love object. In this case, love is articulated in three registers defined by Lacan: the real, the imaginary and the symbolic. If the psychotic slides purely to the narcissistic side, if the love is based solely on the imaginary register, the deadly side of love, Thanatos, can take over

_____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
The research paper lies in diagnosing the germinal core of Rousseaunian critique to the society and culture of his time, highlighting at the same time, the understanding of the author's thesis regarding the "natural man" and the "social man". Rousseau pursues this critique orienting himself especially through an educational problematic. In this sense, the analysis of some passages of Èmile, especially in book IV will be of great importance to this paper, since such work is the cornerstone of the modern pedagogical tradition and in part, of the philosophical tradition. Èmile is also the most elaborate presentation of the Rousseaunian educational project, working out in further detail , albeit unsystematically, the theory of the ambiguity of self-esteem. The objective is to deal with the possible tensional relationship between the concepts of natural education, amour de soi-même and amour-propre, and more precisely, to investigate the role that these last two concepts play in building the human condition and the project of a natural education. From a methodological standpoint, the research assumes a bibliographical nature and will be developed based on the hermeneutic perspective.

Full textThis research is concerned with the way the concept of love is conceived in the works of andre gide et romain rolland at the beginning of the 20th century. Whether in la porte etroite and la symphonic pastorale or in jean-christophe, the two authors express particular views about love and emotions. People who are deeply in love cannot reunite and fulfill their passionate yearnings either because of moral or social impediments, or because of self-imposed constraints. Happiness is never at the conclusion of these three love stories, although the way for it seems to be paved at their outsets. In the end there is nothing but death and the loss of the loved woman who, by her evasion from any imminent delectation, gives no chance for love

She give two "definitions" of this concept: political freedom and freedom of thought for arendt, it's the modern revolution in the sense of rosa luxembourg who found a government where political actors participate to the public freedom. For arendt, socratic love - eros - determine, in other part, what do we do. The socratic thinking give no definition. Thus, the freedom of thought consist to understand the meaning of the concept. Thinking about freedom mean to understand the signification of political freedom and the freedom of thought in result, you cannot prouve the existence of freedom but only thinking about it

Full textWe tried in this work to point out what is said about love in a non-Christian society. However, this concern quickly appeared iconoclast in the Japanese context. Love is not a topic for the Japanese ethnology. More exactly, the question does not interest because it has no object to study on, as one affirmed to us. There is no love in Japan, not more than in other exotic cultures. Love, and the disproportionate place that it occupies today in our societies, would be the prerogative of Western civilization. Possibly ! But with a proviso specifying about which kind of love one speaks. We, with this intention, tried to adopt the following step : to choose an indigenous term, an expression which sounds 'very Japanese', to become aware of all the width of its semantic field, to identify its practical applications ; to make a comparison between what it indicates decided to analyze. We will discuss its origin and the implications. Obviously, bond and love are not the same thing. They can however be mobilized at the same time in similar situations. We will quote a certain number of examples taken from Japanese literature to prove it. However, the essential share of this research wants to be ethnographic and raises of religious ethnology : it is a question of identifying worships rendered to divinities, to describe places, practices, objects, which are known as ""tying a bond", to try to recall logics

Full textThe romantic work of julien grack from au chateau d'argol to the short story entitled le roi cophetua appears as a description of man and the world which surrounds him, and as an attempt to answer to the mystery of life. Passing through imaginary spaces which come before them and determine their evolution the characters must face at once a love and catastrophe brings to light the struggle setting the man against the woman and against the world. But the progressive vanishing of catastrophe for the benefit of the only love affair reveals the reconciliation of this man with the woman and with the world. Then love appears as a positive answxer to the mystery of revelation. Revelation consists of the complete release of the man and his harmony with the world. Therefore, the novels of julien gracq comply with the quest that two literarty movements which have fed them were pursuing. These two movements are german romanticism and surrealism. Thenovels of julien gracq reveal what the writer calls "l'embellie tardive" that is the reconquest by means of love of freedom
Gravel, Caroline.

Full textIn my doctoral thesis i focused my attention on two pivotal ideas in the religious philosophy of nicolas berdiaeff, i. E. The ideas of love and creativity. The objective of my thesis is to evince the fundamental importance of the ideaof love in the universe of berdiaievian thought. Having done some historical research on the notion of love in the russian religious philosophy of the ninteenth century, in particular in the philosophy of vladimir soloviev, i then to make the berdiaievian idea of love explicit on this back-ground. For berdiaiev, love may bear a dimension of ascendance or of decendance; love may be eros or compassion, both forms of energy of the creative act that for berdiaiev are meant to be a sort of theodicy or anthropodicy. The philosophy of berdiaiev is deeply concerned with the existential meaning of what it is to be a person linked to its fundamental capacity of freedom. Personhood means that it creates itself in virtue of its love and its freedom. For nicolas berdiaiev this selfcreation is meant to be a creative answer, a personal response to the call of god the creator. Xtried

Nevertheless, another approach allows one to find out that "pudeur" is a sensible "phenomenon" sending back to an internal human experience : we analyse here the "pudeur" value of sign in its relationship to desire and love ; main references come from antique and medieval philosophy and from modern philosophy - mainly phenomenology. In the first part, the "pudeur" relationship to eros and agape is analysed; the "pudeur" appears in most contexts as a fear of sexual desire. In the second part, the concept of "pudeur" is considered in three different ways : the "having shame", the fear of the intimacy revealing, the "pudeur" as a virtue. It is pointed out that the "impudeur" (shamelessness immodesty), looking at the body as flesh, can't deny the having shame. In the third part it is pointed out, through an objective then subjective analysis of the concept of person, that. .

The love stories will be looked at through the angle of literature (from Tristan et Iseult to Belle du Seigneur), but also through movies and interviews. We will see that this story will be covered under the theme of the birth. Its three themes correspond to the three transition rituals as defined by Van Gennep, and its "characters" are the archetype of the birth. The lived love as an initiatory experience may be what gives a meaning to the life. Full textThe southern piedmont of the djebel amour (saharian atlas, algeria) is a physical, climatical and human fragile transitional environment, propitious to land degradation. Relatively preserved until now comparatively to the northern piedmont of the saharian atlas, the southern piedmont shows actually an exacerbation of the land degradation processes. We have made an inventory of shapes and formations of each morphological unit of the piedmont, and more, we have defined his evolution processes during the last dry period (started in 1970, ended in 1986), differentiating what is caused by human or by drought, with a multitemporal monitoring of dense and sparse vegetation and sandy shapes and formations using 3 different images (mss 1977, spot 1986 and tm 1989). The phenomenon of land degradation increases from 1977 to 1986 and disapears in 1989 thanks to the improvment of pluviometric conditions, indicating that we didn't reach an irreversible stage. The location of these degraded patches around towns, wells and springs shows that the human causes are preponderant in degradations development. The drought only reveals increasing anthropogenic degradations. This satellite monitoring has shown that land degradation processes progress in a discontinuous manner responding to land use. Human activities tend to aggravate natural evolution processes appearing through forms and formations inherited from more arid or humid periods

The hypothesis is consisting in demonstrating the central place of enamouration in the developpement of subjectivation. Encountering the other through the loving relation, then the encounter of the flesh of the other, are steps on the way of being an adult, which includes sometimes psychopathological consequences: such as neurotical decompensation, or the beginning of psychosis. The subject in love will have to come trough many subjectival transformations that Freud has described precisely. This research goes on with the study of transference love, and specifies what has to do with being in love or love transference. Then a clinical part sets the validity of the hypothesis. Both the teenagers and the adults are playing other cards in the loving relation or on transference relation. The subjectivity has to do an other work. Then some research tracks are following the direction of this work around hate, the setting off of psychosis, loving depression and loving mania, and of course passion

Apuleius provides a moral reflexion on the human love, essentially based on insatiable desire and condemned to failure and seems at the same time to propose a solution that conciliates platonism with isiac syncretism

Full textThe medical relationship seems to have a well-defined aim : healing, i. E body “repair”. Medical science, based on an exclusive positivist materialism, is the doctor's main reference. Even so, doctors and patients are often aware of neglecting an important part of what the real issue of the consultation is. In fact, in this interpersonal encounter, two people are deeply involved and the purely medical aspect is even often a mere pretext. The consultation is the place where the sick person is revealed. It is then necessary to consider the human concept through the history of philosophy based on the modern personalist movement. Having a better comprehension of this notion, relational implications in the medical meeting context can be clarified. It's the friendly involvement the doctor has and nourishes for his patient that binds its ethical attitude to his service , giving a framework to the technical approach

Full textTo Jean-Luc Marion’s phenomenology belongs the largest possible horizon: his intuitive and prereflexive philosophy widens the field of phenomenology. The author of this book plans to explain how the erotic phenomenon as a phenomenon of saturation. A fondamental affective tonality of existence which is at the same time a border phenomenon, an excess of sense exceeding any representation of an intentionnal and reflexive consciousness, for it carries the phenomenological weight of the origin. Love demands a reduction, which cannot be understood but by a radical phenomenology of excessive donation. It is in this sense that the datum “reduced” by phenomenology must be understood – which datum is neither a being nor an object, but the sole donation which constitues the absolute immanent essence of manifestation. This research shows that the phenomenological reduction according to j. -l. Marion implies the reversal and the radicalisation of the classical phenomenology of prior thinkers such as Husserl and Heidegger. Indeed, they only focus on the essence of being, and their phenomenology remains a captive of metaphysics, inasmuch as its only horizon is still the horizon of being. The phenomenological method of Jean-Luc Marion is therefore interpreted here as a counter-method which is given to me as a counter-experience before any attempt to give it a meaning: it overcomes me with a flood of intuitions far above the concept, because it gives itself so generously. This phenomenological paradox, which Jean-Luc Marion calls “saturated phenomenon”, drives phenomenology away from transcendental ego and the intentional object, to replace them by a given ego, which receives itself from all it receives. This paradox happens with love, the ultimate condition for the possibility of the self, away from all ontic and transcendental requirement, in the sole horizon of a radical excessive donation

Full textThe following study analyzes the environment in the novels: Globalia (2004), written by the French novelist Jean-Christophe Rufin and Amor en la Línea Vieja (Love at the Old Rail) (2007), written by the Costa Rican author Walter Rojas Pérez. This research examines the expression of ecological consciousness represented from the authors’ perspectives both in different periods of time (2004/2007) and distinctive places. Below are analyzed the peculiar visions of the Mankind in relationship with the country and the city, accompanied by a corrupt political structure where the inequality of connections influences the ecological unbalance, affecting the natural, anthropic, and human beings’ ecosystems. The novels here studied do not reflect the image of nature viewed as «a green hell»; nonetheless, the natural aspects depict the portrait of a Mother furnishing all the necessary for the humankind’s survival. Thus, the denunciation premises criticize the abuse committed by mankind against the environment, the deforestation of woods, the contamination of hydrographic basins, the indistinct use of agrochemical products, air and land pollution with industrial residue dumped outside as garbage; most likely destructive elements which shorten humankind’s life on the Blue Planet. Both novels accuse the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources by the human conqueror of nature and who serves the globalization goals of the industrialization. This unsustainable development favors the ecological imbalance which leads to the disappearance of uncountable species dying without having ever been studied, taking away the opportunity to the future generations to have even known them. The texts register how the economically poor human beings devastate the nature and give into the economic power for the need to survive, and to finally become “un-people”. Global poverty is such that “three quarters of the world population live in the Third World, which stands for more than two thirds of the earth’s surface” (Stokke 19). The lucky ones, supported by certain people in power, manipulate the citizens by means of transnational companies, and –using the excuse of modernization- they steal nature’s resources. Therefore, when these living beings stop serving the petty interests of the rich, they are laid off without any benefits, directly affecting their human ecology and that of their families; consequently, the underprivileged have no other alternative but to join certain at-risk settlements, live as recycled garbage, and eat from the industrialization’s waste. The Earth embodies a living being that pertains to a universal ecosystem and which requires its own sustainable space, within a healthy ecological environment. The planet’s stability is of supreme importance to the rest of the species that live together on it. This is the ecocritical discourse that the novelists Rufin and Rojas Pérez desire to transmit, hoping to perpetuate the terrestrial viability that all species could enjoy the nectar which maintains it strong. The novelists’ denunciation awakens the consciousness for preserving the Blue Planet’s ecological balance. Moreover, the environmental-literary discourse goes beyond the terrestrial frontiers, getting to the Earth’s cosmic and universal worlds, as the one that appears in the novel Globalia. A defined cosmological reality surges in Amorn en la Línea Vieja, when –from an inextricable point of vegetation on Earth- one may go through a tunnel onto another dimension where friendly beings interact with each other. On that terrestrial-universal world, the vegetation resembles the one known on Earth, and where the characters Ion and Elena welcome Nuria as member of their family, thus giving Nuria the opportunity to coexist with an interplanetary society of common root species. Both Globalia and Amor en la Línea Vieja pass on to the new generations a clear ecocritical message: they are dedicated to save the global habitat

Notably, this work clarifies the definition, structure, situations, function, functioning, criteria, conditions, circumstances and limits of love. Consequently, it seeks to fix the articulation of love in terms of desire, need, sensual pleasure, drive and fantasy. In tandem, it considers literary and musical works, social representations and cultural myths, which are descriptive of love
