Abstract:
A new approach to detailed statistical inference for the two-decision and multiple decision problem was developed by Chatterjee and Chattopadhyay (1992, 1993). The procedure developed for the multipledecision case is used here to find a solution to, what may be called, the problem of estimation by a ‘confidence set’ when the parameter space is finite. The confidence set problem in which we are required to state a datadependent measure of ‘confidence’ which can be interpreted in terms of betting odds that are ‘optimal’ under repeated experimentation, is considered. Abstract:
Designs combioatorially balanced for residual treatment effects of various orders, (especialJy first and second orders) with and without interactions were discussed in considerable details by williams (1949). Construction of combinatorially balanced designs for residual treatment effects was also considered by Patterson (1952); Hedayat and Afsarinejad (1975, 1978); Cheng and Wu (1980). An excellent account of such designs is given by Jones and Kenward (1989). In this paper, a method of construction of generalized cyclic designs combinatorially balanced for residual treatment effects of the first order without interactions, is presented. The method is based on an extension of theorems on symmetricaliy repeated difference sets developed by Bose (1939) and others. Abstract: The paper addresses the problem of speaker identification based on spectrograms in the text dependent case. Using spectrogram segmentation, this paper, mainly, focusses on understanding the complex patterns in frequency and amplitude in an utterance of a given word by an individual. The features used for identifying a speaker based on an observed variable extracted from the spectrograms, rely on the distinct speaker effect, his/her interaction effect with the particular word and with the frequency bands of the spectrogram. Performance of this novel approach on spectrogram samples, collected from 40 speakers, show that this methodology can be effectively used to produce a very high success rate in a closed set of speakers for text-dependent speaker identification. Abstract:
The sanitary sewage is treated with four different vegetation types by means of artificial surface runoff. Results show soil+ Cynodon dactylon L. + Festuca arundinacea Schreb is the best vegetation type in treating the sanitary sewage, and the total removal of it is 80.24% TN, 62.99% TP, 74.85% BOD5, 39.73% COD and 58.64% TOC respectively in the course of trial, which indicates that the mixed vegetation type made up of plants and soil is better than the pure soil vegetation type, and the complementary collocation of complex plants is better than the single plant.Five water-quality indexes of the sanitary sewage removed by the single vegetation type are also studied, and it shows that there are some differences among them from high to low as follows: TN>BOD5>TP>TOC>COD.

Abstract:
This paper describes the analysis of fatal incidents of Indian coal mines from April 1989 to March 1998. It is found that Indian mines have considerably higher accident and fatality rates compared to those in USA and South Africa, respectively. While open cast mines are generally known to be safer than underground mines, the Indian open cast mines are shown to be at least as hazardous to the workers as the Indian underground mines. Analysis of the accident rates is made via a few regression models involving the effects of working shifts, the various companies, the types of mine, manshift and production. The accident-prone combinations of mine type and company are identified for follow-up action. The break-up of the accidents by cause is also studied. Abstract:
Concentration of 7 heavy metals in 269 topsoil samples were determined which collected from Shilou town of Fangshan district in Beijing, and the data was analyzed by the single factor index and the Nemerow index for the soil environment quality evaluation. The mean values of the heavy metals were 8.24 ± 1.42, 0.209 ± 0.07, 62.99 ±8.89, 0.133 ± 0.11, 25.29 ± 5.02, 23.91 ± 5.72 and 86.29 ± 28.13 mg kg-1 for As, Cd, Cr, Hg, Cu, Pb, and Zn, respectively. Average concentration of As, Cd, Cr, Cu and Zn exceeded the background value of Beijing area. It was found that all heavy metals were not in normal distribution. The soil environment quality was evaluated by single factor pollution index and Nemerow index of heavy metals. The order of single factor index was Cd, Zn, Hg, Cu, Cr, Pb, As in decreasing. Average Nemerow index of soil was 0.918. This value was reached to the grade III standard of soil environmental quality assessment classification.

Abstract:
The geochemical processes of fractional crystallization of a magma, partial fusion of a rock and assimilation or hybridization of rock(s) and/or magma(s) are generally termed as petrological mixing process. In the present paper a unified attempt has been made to describe the three processes under the purview of regression model. As the data involved are essentially compositional in nature, their suitable log-ratio transforms have been utilized and the constrained least squares principle has been applied to reach a meaningful solution. A highly accommodative procedure is suggested so as to describe any specified d~gree of fractional crystallization of magma or of partial fusion of a rock. The paper concludes with applications of the proposed method on data available from i) Rajmahal Trap, Eastern India (fractional crystallization) ii) Bihar Mica Belt, Eastern India (partial fusion) and iii) Kilauea Volcano, Hawai (formation of hybrid magma). Abstract:
<p><em>This study aims to increase activity and low social studies learning outcomes. The implementation of this Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were students of class VB SDN 01 Kaliwuluh which opened 21 students with the object of research on student activities and learning outcomes. From the results of data analysis it is known that in each cycle there is an increase in student activity and learning outcomes. In the condition, the percentage of student learning activities is only 22.66%, while the learning outcomes are 63.64% below the KKM. In the first cycle, learning activities increased to 62.99% and learning outcomes reached 68.18%. In the second cycle, student activity increased to 77.89% and learning outcomes reached 86.36%. Based on Classroom Action Research, it can be said that the application of the STAD type cooperative learning model can increase the activeness and learning outcomes of social studies students in class V B SDN 01 Kaliwuluh in semester 1 of the 2020/2021 academic year.</em></p>

Abstract:
Abstract Purpose Studies regarding the association between dietary fat intake and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are limited and provide conflicting findings. Thus, the study aims to examine the association of dietary fat intake in the year preceding pregnancy and during pregnancy with the risk of GDM, taking the relevance of dietary protein intake on GDM into consideration. Methods A prospective study was conducted in 6299 singleton pregnancies, using the data from the Nutrition in Pregnancy and Growth in Southwest China (NPGSC). A validated food frequency questionnaire was used to assess dietary fat intake in the year preceding pregnancy and during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy. Logistic regression analysis was used to assess the prospective associations of dietary fat intake and the type and source of dietary fats in different time windows with GDM risk. Results Higher intake of total fat [OR (95% CI): 2.21 (1.19–4.20), P = 0.02] during 12–22 weeks of gestation was associated with higher GDM risk. However, adjustment for animal protein intake greatly attenuated this association [OR (95% CI): 1.81 (0.93, 3.64), P = 0.11]. Total fat intake neither in the year preceding pregnancy nor during the early pregnancy was associated with GDM risk. Moreover, insignificant associations were observed between intakes of vegetable fat, animal fat, cholesterol, saturated fatty acid, monounsaturated fatty acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid one year before pregnancy and during the first and second trimesters and GDM risk. Conclusion Our study indicated that dietary fat intake one year before pregnancy and across the two pregnancy trimesters preceding the diagnosis of GDM has no relevance on GDM risk among Chinese women, particularly those with normal BMI, low, or normal calorie intake.

Abstract:
Study of petrological and geochemical characteristics of mantle peridotite xenoliths in Pliocene alkaline basalt in Nghia Dan (West Nghe An) was carried out. Rock-forming clinopyroxenes, the major trace element containers, were separated from the xenoliths to analyze for major, trace element and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions. The data were interpreted for source geochemical characteristics and geodynamic processes of the lithospheric mantle beneath the region. The peridotite xenoliths being mostly spinel-lherzolites in composition, are residual entities having been produced following partial melting events of ultramafic rocks in the asthenosphere. They are depleted in trace element abundance and Sr-Nd isotopic composition. Some are even more depleted as compared to mid-ocean ridge mantle xenoliths. Modelled calculation based on trace element abundances and their corresponding solid/liquid distribution coefficients showed that the Nghia Dan mantle xenoliths may be produced of melting degrees from 8 to 12%. Applying various methods for two-pyroxene temperature- pressure estimates, the Nghia Dan mantle xenoliths show ranges of crystallization temperature and pressure, respectively, of 1010-1044°C and 13-14.2 kbar, roughly about 43km. A geotherm constructed for the mantle xenoliths showed a higher geothermal gradient as compared to that of in the western Highlands (Vietnam) and a conductive model, implying a thermal perturbation under the region. The calculated Sm-Nd model ages for the clinopyroxenes yielded 127 and 122 Ma. If the age is meaningful it suggests that there was a major geodynamic process occurred beneath Western Nghe An in the middle- Early Cretaceous that was large enough to cause perturbation in the evolutional trend of the Sm-Nd isotopic system.ReferencesAn A-R., Choi S.H., Yu Y-g., Lee D-C., 2017. Abstract:
Zusammenfassung Ziel der Studie Beschreibung des Anteils sexueller Minoritäten in der älteren Wohnbevölkerung in Deutschland und Darstellung einer möglichen Assoziation mit depressiven Symptomen. Methodik Daten der sechsten Welle (Jahr 2017) des Deutschen Alterssurveys (n = 5133). Das Durchschnittsalter betrug 66,1 Jahre (43–90 Jahre). Die Allgemeine Depressionsskala (Kurzversion, ADS-K) wurde zur Erfassung depressiver Symptome verwendet. Es wurde zwischen Hetero-, Bi- und Homosexuellen unterschieden. In die Analysen haben wir u. a. die folgenden Kovariaten aufgenommen: Alter, Geschlecht, Partnerschaftsstatus, Wohnort, subjektive Gesundheit, körperliche Funktionsfähigkeit (kurze Skala SF-36). Ergebnisse In der älteren Wohnbevölkerung in Deutschland identifizieren sich 92,8 % der Individuen als Heterosexuelle, 1,7 % als Bisexuelle, 1,1 % als Homosexuelle und 4,3 % als „Andere“. Bivariat zeigte sich, dass kein signifikanter Zusammenhang zwischen sexueller Orientierung und depressiven Symptomen besteht. In multiplen Regressionsanalysen bestätigte sich dieses Ergebnis. Schlussfolgerung Unsere Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass kein signifikanter Zusammenhang zwischen der sexuellen Orientierung und depressiven Symptomen in der älteren Wohnbevölkerung in Deutschland besteht.

Abstract Background Risk stratification in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) that is population-specific is essential. Conventional risk stratification methods such Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) score is used to evaluate the risk associated with the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) which are derived from Western Caucasian cohort with a limited participant from the Asian region. In Malaysia, multi-ethnic developing country, patients presenting with STEMI are younger, have a much higher prevalence of diabetes, hypertension and renal failure, and present later to medical care than their western counterparts. Purpose We aim to investigate the predictors, predict mortality and develop a risk stratification tool for short and long term mortality in multi-ethnic STEMI patients using machine learning (ML) method. Methods We created three separate mortality prediction models using support vector machine (SVM) to identify predictors and predict mortality for in-hospital, 30-days and 1-year for STEMI patients. We used registry data from the National Cardiovascular Disease Database of 6299 patient's data for in-hospital, 3130 for 30-days and 2939 for 1-year for ML model development. Fifty parameters including demographics, cardiovascular risk, medications and clinical variables were utilised for training the models. The Area under the curve (AUC) was used as the primary performance evaluation metric. All models were validated against conventional method TIMI and tested using testing data. SVM variable importance method were used to select and rank important variables. We converted the final algorithm into an online tool with a database for continuous algorithm validation. We implemented the online calculator in selected hospitals for further testing using prospective patients data. Results The calculator is available at http://myheartstemi.uitm.edu.my. The calculator outperforms TIMI on testing data for in-hospital (15 predictors) (AUC=0.88 vs 0.81), 30 days (12 predictors) (AUC=0.90 vs 0.80) and 1-year (13 predictors) (AUC=0.84 vs 0.76). Common predictors for in-hospital, 30 days and 1-year mortality model identified in this study are; age, heart rate, Killip class, fasting blood glucose and diuretics. Invasive and less invasive treatments such as PCI pharmacotherapy drugs are also selected as important variables that improve mortality prediction. Our results also suggest that TIMI score underestimates patients risk of mortality. 90% of non-survival patients are classified as high risk (>30%) by the calculator compared 10–30% non-survival patients by TIMI. Conclusions In the multi-ethnicity population, patients with STEMI are better classified using ML method compared to the TIMI score. ML allows identification of distinct factors in unique ASIAN population for better mortality prediction. Availability of population-specific calculator and continuous testing and validation allows better risk stratification.
