Esta investigación analiza en el entorno de una competición deportiva el impulso en la motivación que para los equipos tiene el obtener una segunda oportunidad de alcanzar el objetivo deseado. Para ello, utilizamos la liga profesional de baloncesto estadounidense (NBA), donde dos equipos compiten por la victoria en cada partido. A través del análisis de 390 contiendas que acabaron en empate en su tiempo reglamentario, y por ende dirimieron el resultado final en la prórroga, mostramos que el equipo que consigue empatar el partido en la última jugada del mismo tiene mayor probabilidad de ganar en la prórroga si actúa como visitante pero no si actúa como local. Anotar primero en la prórroga, asimismo, es un factor que incrementa la probabilidad de victoria tanto para el equipo local como para el visitante.Abstract. This research analyzes the boost in motivation that teams experience when getting a second chance to achieve the desired objective within competition settings. To achieve this aim we analyzed the NBA framework, where two teams compete for victory in each game. Through the analysis of 390 matches that ended in a draw, and therefore the final result was reached in the overtime, we show how teams tying a game on the final play of the match are more likely to win in the overtime when playing away, but not at home. Being the first team to score in the overtime increases the probability of winning the game for both home and away situations.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to present a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of Kurdish nationalism and identity in Turkey. An emphasis will be placed on aspects such as the lack of acceptance of Kurdish nationalists for state-oriented attitudes among some Kurds, the lack of acceptance for the Turkish government’s pro-Kurdish decisions and abusing of tragic Turks and Kurds’ past by both sides of the conflict in order to win the propaganda war. The groundless conviction that “Kurdish nationalism” and “ PKK terrorism” is the same thing leads to misunderstanding that terror is the only indication of show ing Kurdish identity. The true complexity of this phenomenon will be presented in this article.

Durante las celebraciones del Bicentenario de la Independencia, los colombianos ensalzaron el rol de la Campaña Libertadora de Bolívar de 1819 en el Casanare, el recorrido a través de los Andes que derrotó a los españoles en la batalla del Pantano de Vargas (el 25 de julio) y de Boyacá (el 7 de agosto), pero prestando poca atención a la lucha de esa región en el siglo XX para obtener la libertad del vecino departamento de Boyacá. Durante la época del Frente Nacional (1958-1974), el sentido de abandono del Casanare por parte de Tunja se convirtió en una iniciativa decidida para deshacerse del gobierno del departamento y recuperar su autonomía como intendencia nacional. En este artículo se analiza la compleja relación entre la frontera de la sierra y la llanura; describe la lucha del Casanare por recuperar su autonomía, y explica por qué en 1974, los Casanareños exaltaron la altura de la región a la categoría de intendencia nacional mientras que los habitantes de los otros territorios de los Llanos Orientales fueron activamente presionados a convertirse en departamentos.

Abstract:
Objetivo: El artículo analiza el impacto del marketing experiencial, a través del patrocinio de festivales de música, como vía idónea para el fomento relaciones positivas para organizadores, marcas y asistentes.
 Diseño/metodología/enfoque: El presente estudio realiza, a través de una revisión bibliográfica, entrevistas en profundidad y estudio de casos, un recorrido sobre el valor de los festivales como impulsor de experiencias positivas entre las partes. Los casos objetos de estudio se aplica sobre dos festivales de música que asumen formatos diversos. Uno que se presta a los criterios estándares de los festivales de música (el Arena Sound) y, otro formato que se aleja de los formatos más comerciales y convencionales (el WOS Festival x Son Estrella).
 Resultados: El vínculo positivo en un evento elegido por la audiencia donde la participación activa del usuario es evidente, desde la espera para poder adquirir el producto hasta su disfrute, es un filón para la marca en un sentido publicitario. La atribución de esa presencia física o virtual, así como la relación como promotor de la existencia de ese festival quedarán asociadas en la mente de ese consumidor. La simbiosis marca-música-experiencia es altamente productiva para anunciantes, organizadores y espectadores. Al organizador le aporta notoriedad y publicity, a la marca afinidad e impacto en soportes y al público una experimentación de ocio que compartirá con gran probabilidad en sus redes generando contenido prescriptor entre sus pares. De partida todo indica que es una asociación win-win para todos los actores de la acción.
 Limitaciones/implicaciones: las limitaciones del artículo se circunscriben a la muestra abordada que, si bien no es generalizable al conjunto de festivales de música, permiten aproximarse a una realidad concreta desde una perspectiva cualitativa
 Originalidad/contribución: Este texto contribuye a un campo de estudio poco abordado en la literatura académica, los festivales de música como generador de marketing experiencial. Se aporta una clasificación propia sobre los efectos del patrocinio en este tipo de eventos sobre las marcas, asistentes y festivales.

Abstract:
El desarrollo de un modelo empírico para la corrección de la predicción por modelos climatológicos del Contenido Total Electrónico vertical (VTEC), equivalente al modelo STORM para el pico de concentración de la capa F2 (Araujo-Pradere y Fuller-Rowell, 2002, Araujo-Pradere et al., 2002), se encuentra ahora en su etapa inicial en el Space Environment Center (SEC) de NOAA. El programa para la obtención del TEC, el proyecto Win Tec (Anghel y Codrescu, 2002), utiliza los archivos de formato de intercambio independiente del receptor (RINEX) para derivar el TEC vertical a partir del retraso de las señales del Sistema de Posicionamiento Global (GPS). Con un valor máximo del Dst de -287.6 (máximo ap = 400), la tormenta de julio 2000, conocida como la tormenta del Día de la Bastille, ha sido una de las más intensas perturbaciones en el ciclo solar actual. En este trabajo se analiza la respuesta del TEC, obtenido del retardo que sufren el código y la fase de la señal de GPS a su paso por la ionosfera, para la tormenta de julio 2000. Los valores de TEC vertical en la estación receptora ccv3 (Cabo Cañaveral, Florida, latitud 28.46 N, longitud 279.45 E) sufrieron un súbito incremento, más del 250% con respecto a los días tranquilos previos, seguido por un fuerte gradiente negativo, y una lenta recuperación. El cuadro es aun más complejo por la presencia de estos gradientes, responsables por la degradación de la calidad del posicionamiento obtenido por GPS.

Las sociedades comparten un serie de formas a través de las cuales se pueden identificar, conocerse y re-conocerse, sin hacer mucho caso a la especificidad, latitud o cultura que las caracterizan y las unen. Lo primero que comparten es una memoria social, entendida como un significado compartido por los miembros que lo conforman, sin importar su veracidad o autenticidad. El recuerdo es necesario para mantener unido a los integrantes de un grupo, es por ello que se manifiesta constante e intermitentemente en el transcurso de la existencia del grupo social, se vuelve un significado adoptado por dicho colectivo que debe ser manifiesto en las actividades y la cotidianidad.El presente trabajo describe y analiza tres prácticas sociales de conmemoración denominadas alternativas que se realizan en países latinoamericanos (Argentina, Chile y México), se fundamentan sus orígenes, causas sociales y formas de organización, así como sus acciones principales. El eje rector que unifica a estas tres prácticas conmemorativas es el hecho de que reivindican la lucha social y ejemplifican mecanismos contrahegemónicos de demanda social, antes las falencias, omisiones y acciones del Estado. El estudio y el análisis de las conmemoraciones abren la posibilidad de entender distintos usos del pasado. Los eventos históricos construyen un relato que otorga identidad y sentimiento de unidad. Sin embargo, recuperar el pasado a través de la conmemoración no elimina el surgimiento de grupos contrahegemónicos que proponen una reflexión crítica sobre lo sucedido.
 The societies share a number of ways through which they can identify and meet. However, often irrelevant specifics of culture. It is much more important social memory. Social memory is something that is shared by members of a group regardless of their veracity or authenticity. The memory is needed to hold together the members of a group. Therefore, the memory becomes a meaning adopted by the collective manifested in everyday activities.This paper describes and analyzes three social practices of commemoration taking place in Latin American countries (Argentina, Chile and Mexico), describing their origins, social causes, forms of organization and main actions. The guiding principle that unifies these three commemorative practices is claimed that exemplify the social struggle and counter-hegemonic mechanisms of social demand, given the failures, omissions and actions of the state. The study and analysis of the commemorations open the possibility of understanding different uses of the past. Historical events construct a story that gives identity and togetherness. However, recovering the past, through the commemoration does not eliminate the emergence of counter-hegemonic groups that propose a critical reflection about what happened.

Znaczenie środków masowego przekazu w procesie planowania i realizacji polityki zagranicznej zmieniało się w czasie w zależności od możliwości technicznych mediów oraz obowiązującego paradygmatu dyplomacji. Celem artykułu jest analiza ewolucji, jaka dokonała się w tych relacjach w okresie od zakończenia II wojny światowej w kontekście wybranych wydarzeń historycznych. W ostatnich dziesięcioleciach wyróżnić można kilka etapów rozwoju wzajemnych relacji mediów i polityki zagranicznej, charakteryzujących się określonym układem oddziaływań oraz zależności mediów i dyplomacji, który w pewnych okresach w określonej sytuacji politycznej z różnym natężeniem cechowała albo wyraźna dominacja polityki nad mediami, albo wyraźnie uchwytny wpływ przekazu mediów na politykę. To, który z elementów układu zyskiwał w danym momencie przewagę, zależało głównie od aktualnego stanu rozwoju technologii przekazu oraz obowiązującego paradygmatu polityki zagranicznej. You Win Some, You Lose Some, or the Evolution of the Relations of Media and Foreign Policy The role of the media in the planning and implementation of foreign policy has changed over time, depending on the technical capabilities of the media and the existing diplomatic paradigm. The aim of the article is to analyze the evolution that has taken place in these fields since the end of World War II in the context of the selected historical events. In recent decades, several stages of the development of mutual relations between the media and foreign policy can be distinguished, characterized by a specific system of influence and dependence of the media and diplomacy, which in certain periods in a specific political situation was characterized with varying intensity either by a clear domination of politics over the media or a clearly noticeable influence of the media message on politics. Which of the elements of the system was gaining the advantage at a given moment depended mainly on the current state of development of the communication technology and the applicable foreign policy paradigm.

Abstract:
Este artículo analiza el componente didáctico y propagandístico de White Stars of Freedom, de Mirim Isasi y Melcena Burns Denny. Mi argumento es que esta novela reproduce la ideología oficial del nacionalismo vasco en el exilio tras la Guerra Civil Española al idealizar a los Estados Unidos como tierra de promisión y al enfatizar la existencia de valores similares en los Estados Unidos y Euskadi, como la libertad, la democracia y el cristianismo. La obra busca promover el apoyo de Estados Unidos al nacionalismo vasco en el exilio. Asimismo, a través de la maduración de Narbik, un muchacho vasco que trabaja como pastor en Euskadi, se resaltan valores tradicionales de la masculinidad en los que la cultura vasca coincidía con la estadounidense: la fuerza física y mental para la superación de obstáculos, la lealtad, la laboriosidad, la independencia y el deseo de ganar. El exilio positivo de Narbik en los Estados Unidos refuerza su masculinidad al proveerle de oportunidades personales y profesionales. Narbik representa una identidad transnacional en la que, después de nacionalizarse estadounidense, destina su idelidad política solo a los Estados Unidos mientras mantiene al mismo tiempo su cultura y raíces vascas. This article analyzes the didactic and propagandistic component of White Stars of Freedom, by Mirim Isasi and Melcena Burns Denny. I contend that this novel reproduces the oficial ideology of the Basque nationalism in exile after the Spanish Civil War by idealizing the United States as a promised land and stressing the existence of similar values in the United States and Euskadi, such as liberty, democracy and Christianity. The work aims to promote the support of the United States to the Basque nationalism in exile. Additionally, through the growth of Narbik, a Basque boy who works as a shepherd in Euskadi, the authors emphasize traditional values of masculinity in which Basque culture converges with the American one: physical and mental strength to overcome obstacles, loyalty, industriousness, independence, and the will to win. Narbik’s positive exile in the United States reinforces his masculinity by providing him with personal and professional opportunities. Narbik represents a transnational identity in which, after his naturalization as a United States citizen, he exclusively devotes his political loyalty to the United States while maintaining his Basque culture and roots.

Master's thesis is referring the importance of logistics in the retail business and the importance of reducing logistics costs. It includes so theoretical knowledge as well as the analysis of the relevant markets, which are producing and consuming wine in the largest quantities. Thesis is focused on analysis of the logistical processes and costs of an e-shop. Based on this analysis measures to improve the logistics of the process of the company are proposed. The goal of the Master's thesis is to highlight the need to reduce the warehouse costs, improve internal information system and the improvement of communication in the relationship supplier-customer.

This work deals with the metods frequency and time frequency analysis of stabilometric signal. In the introroduction is described theory about posturography and posturographic measurment. The work contains describtion of stabilometric parametrs in time domain (1D and 2D parametrs) and in frequency domain. The aim is create review of basic metods used to processing and preprocessing of stabilometric signals and comparing this methods . In work is realized ferquency analysis used Frourier transfrmation and Burg method and time-frequency analysis used Short time Frourier transformation and Wavelet transformation. One part of program is aimed on comparison of this methods.

Šiame darbe nagrinėjamos bepiločio skraidančio sparno aerodinaminės charakteristikos. Pasirinktas sparno profilis EPPLER 328. Pirmiausia išanalizuojami skaitiniai aerodinaminių charakteristikų tyrimo metodai. Atlikus skaičiavimus pagal pasirinktus aspektus, naudojant programą XFLR5 gauti duomenys apibendrinami bei išanalizuojami. Ištirtos keliamosios jėgos koeficientų, pasipriešinimo jėgos koeficientų, aerodinaminės kokybės reikšmės esant atitinkamiems atakos kampams. Naudojantis tyrimo rezultatais padarytas bepilotis skraidančio sparno orlaivis ir atlikti skrydžiai. Visa informacija apibendrinama ir pateikiamos gautų rezultatų išvados. Darbo apimtis – 66 p. teksto be priedų, 39 paveikslai, 6 lentelės, 24 bibliografiniai šaltiniai.<br>The investigation analyzes unmanned flying wing aerodynamic characteristics. Choosen airfoil EPPLER 328. Firstly, analyzing theoretical calculation methods. All relative data compared and analyzed after calculation with program XFLR5. Analyzed lift force coefficient, drag force coefficient, aerodynamic coefficient under realative angles of attack. Unmanned flying wing was built using the results of compared and analyzed aerodynamic data and test flights were made. All information summarized and produced conclusion. Thesis consists of: 66 p. text without appendixes, 39 pictures, 6 tables, 24 bibliographical entries.

Abstract:
This master´s thesis analyzes an effect of wind load on the ventilated facade claddings. The analysis is performed on the various types of facades, from unventilated to ventilated facades with a different geometrical arrangement of facade shell. The theoretical part describes the basic knowledge about the theory of flow, turbulence modeling, determining an optimal domain, verification of the calculation model and user interface in the ANSYS software. The final part compares the value of the wind load reduction depending on the change of the gap widths and the size of ventilated spaces. The resulting values are obtained by CFD simulations. The thesis includes a design and an assessment of the steel hall construction.

This project is concerned with the security of Wi-Fi network. It defines security and introduces the principles of some security systems which are consequently instructed for its breakthrough, out of which follows the nature of security failures. The main emphasis is put on the current security issue of Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) technology. Consequently, it is concerned with the putting into service of this technology in GNU/Linux distribution OpenWrt on Wi-Fi router TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND. The project is concluded with the suggestions for the correction of the security failure.

Zariadenia, na ktoré sa každodenne spoliehame, sú stále zložitejšie a využívajú zložitejšie protokoly. Jedným z týchto protokolov je Wi-Fi. S rastúcou zložitosťou sa zvyšuje aj potenciál pre implementačné chyby. Táto práca skúma Wi-Fi protokol a použitie fuzz testingu pre generovanie semi-validných vstupov, ktoré by mohli odhaliť zraniteľné miesta v zariadeniach. Špeciálna pozornosť bola venovaná testovaniu Wi-Fi v systéme ESP32 a ESP32-S2. Výsledkom práce je fuzzer vhodný pre testovanie akéhokoľvek Wi-Fi zariadenia, monitorovací nástroj špeciálne pre ESP32 a sada testovacích programov pre ESP32. Nástroj neodhalil žiadne potenciálne zraniteľnosti.

This thesis deals with determination of effect of wing flexibility on load distribution. FSI analysis using modal superposition was used for determination of effect of wing flexibility. Analysis was verified by analytic calculation. Differences of load distribution, between rigid and flexible wing, was determined for the selected flight regimes. Change of the bending moment was up to 3,9 %. Thesis shows importance of including effect of wing flexibility for sailplane design.

AbstractMobile network connectivity enables individuals to use various Internet-based applications and is nowadays an integral part of the physical environment. More specifically, this connectivity shapes individuals’ modes of gathering information and their communication capabilities. In turn, this impacts the individual’s decision-making and, in the long term, may influence their health and quality of life (QoL). This chapter focuses on longitudinal modeling of the availability of mobile connectivity such as Wi-Fi and 3G or 4G for individuals living in the Geneva area (Switzerland). We analyze connectivity over 5 years (2015–2020) based on data collected from 110 mQoL (mobile QoL) Living Lab participants. The participants are from three different cohorts corresponding to distinct data collection periods (2015–2017, 2018–2019, 2020). We derive four features that quantify an individual’s connectivity level: the network access technology (Wi-Fi or cellular), signal strength, the overall data consumption (upload and download), and the participants’ mobility patterns while connected. We also compare the connectivity levels of the three cohorts over time. Our findings reflect the relations between mobile connectivity and the smartphone network activity of the mQoL study cohorts during their daily activities, which may impact their QoL. We summarize the results and conclude this chapter by exploring the different QoL technologies and services enabled by mobile connectivity. However, the effects of connectivity on specific QoL domains, such as psychological aspects (i.e., positive/negative feelings) or social relationships, should be investigated further.

The main goal of this chapter is to analyze the performance of four investment strategies within a recent period of international political uncertainties. RSI and MACD supported three competing investment strategies, which were compared to the conservative Buy and Hold strategy. Euro Stoxx 50 Index was selected through the Markowitz Theory, and the DAX index was established as a benchmark. The period considered was between the start of Donald Trump's official campaign to the US elections and the first date set for Brexit. Two subsequent additional studies were performed to evaluate their profitability. The entry and exit points were determined by international economic reports. Alternative time lengths for the RSI window were considered. The results suggest that, when the market is bear or undefined, the investor should have a strategy supported on technical analysis and he should consider more than one indicator to increase the information that is taken from the market. The passive Buy and Hold strategy should be considered when the market is considered a bull market.

It is thus designed to contribute to the lively debate on sustainability by providing empirical evidence and shedding light on the operationalization of the concept of sustainable business model. Abstract The hydrodynamic performance of a novel current energy generator is studied with consideration of the effect of Wing in Ground (WIG) by Star CCM+. The pitch and heave motions of a turbine with a 2D single oscillating wing and two parallelized oscillating wings in uniform flow are simulated, and the numerical results including the lift force, drag force and moment coefficients of the hydrofoil are calculated to analyze the hydrodynamic performance of the generator. First, the convergence studies with respect to the mesh and time step are firstly carried out by compared with the published data. Secondly, the hydrodynamic performance of the WIG-based current energy extraction is investigated, and a good performance of the current energy extraction is confirmed. Finally, the effect of boundary conditions of wing and wall on the performance of the current energy generator is investigated.

The laser-scanner and photogrammetry Structure from Motion (SfM) survey campaigns took place during the international workshop “Reading and designing the Kyrenia Castle” held in May 2018 in Girne, involving the Girne American University (Cyprus) and the University of Florence. The survey required a more in-depth analysis of the environments around the courtyard, in particular those located on the eastern front, which host numerous archaeological finds, including the Kyrenia shipwreck, dating back to the fourth century BC. The analysis was based on the drawings (plans, elevations and sections) served as support for diagnostic and material investigations aimed at highlighting the state of superficial conservation and structures and their historical stratigraphy.

A computational model of a PV module was implemented to describe its thermal behaviour considering the geographical conditions of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. In order to analyze the effects of non uniform illumination on the thermal profiles of a PV module, a reflecting surface was added adjacent to a PV module edge. A finite difference formulation was used to represents the thermal patterns of each PV describing the thermal conditions of each particular solar cell within the PV module. The mathematical model and the preliminary results obtained for two time instants are presented using real meteorological data to reflect the effect of the wind patterns.

Climate change will increase weather induced risks to forests, and thus effective adaptation measures are needed. In Säätyö project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, we have summarized the data that facilitate adaptation measures, developed weather and climate services that benefit forestry, and mapped what kind of new weather and climate services are needed in forestry. In addition, we have recorded key further development needs to promote adaptation. The Säätyö project developed a service product describing the harvesting conditions of trees based on the soil moisture assessment. The output includes an analysis of the current situation and a 10-day forecast. In the project we also tested the usefulness of long forecasts beyond three months. The weather forecasting service is sidelined and supplemented by another co-operation project between the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Metsäteho called HarvesterSeasons (https://harvesterseasons.com/). The HarvesterSeasons service utilizes long-term forecasts of up to 6 months to assess terrain bearing conditions. A test version of a wind damage risk tool was developed in cooperation with the Department of Forest Sciences of the University of Eastern Finland and the Finnish Meteorological Institute. It can be used to calculate the wind speeds required in a forest area for wind damage (falling trees). It is currently only suitable for researcher use. In the Säätyö project the possibility of locating the most severe wind damage areas immediately after a storm was also tested. The method is based on the spatial interpolation of wind observations. The method was used to analyze storms that caused forest damages in the summer and fall of 2020. The produced maps were considered illustrative and useful to those responsible for compiling the situational picture. The accumulation of snow on tree branches, can be modeled using weather data such as rainfall, temperature, air humidity, and wind speed. In the Säätyö project, the snow damage risk assessment model was further developed in such a way that, in addition to the accumulated snow load amount, the characteristics of the stand and the variations in terrain height were also taken into account. According to the verification performed, the importance of abiotic factors increased under extreme snow load conditions (winter 2017-2018). In ordinary winters, the importance of biotic factors was emphasized. According to the comparison, the actual snow damage could be explained well with the tested model. In the interviews and workshop, the uses of information products, their benefits, the conditions for their introduction and development opportunities were mapped. According to the results, diverse uses and benefits of information products and services were seen. Information products would make it possible to develop proactive forest management, which would reduce the economic costs caused by wind and snow damages. A more up-to-date understanding of harvesting conditions, enabled by information products, would enhance the implementation of harvesting and harvesting operations and the management of timber stocks, as well as reduce terrain, trunk and root damage. According to the study, the introduction of information is particularly affected by the availability of timeliness. Although the interviewees were not currently willing to pay for the information products developed in the project, the interviews highlighted several suggestions for the development of information products, which could make it possible to commercialize them.

The goals of the present research proposal were to elucidate the physiological and molecular basis of the regulation of stilbene metabolism in grape, against the background of (i) grape metabolic network behavior in response to drought and of (ii) varietal diversity. The specific objectives included the study of the physiology of the response of different grape cultivars to continuous WD; the characterization of the differences and commonalities of gene network topology associated with WD in berry skin across varieties; the study of the metabolic response of developing berries to continuous WD with specific attention to the stilbene compounds; the integration analysis of the omics data generated; the study of isolated drought-associated stress factors on the regulation of stilbene biosynthesis in plantaand in vitro. Background to the topic Grape quality has a complex relationship with water input. Regulated water deficit (WD) is known to improve wine grapes by reducing the vine growth (without affecting fruit yield) and boosting sugar content (Keller et al. 2008). On the other hand, irregular rainfall during the summer can lead to drought-associated damage of fruit developmental process and alter fruit metabolism (Downey et al., 2006; Tarara et al., 2008; Chalmers et al., 792). In areas undergoing desertification, WD is associated with high temperatures. This WD/high temperature synergism can limit the areas of grape cultivation and can damage yields and fruit quality. Grapes and wine are the major source of stilbenes in human nutrition, and multiple stilbene-derived compounds, including isomers, polymers and glycosylated forms, have also been characterized in grapes (Jeandet et al., 2002; Halls and Yu, 2008). Heterologous expression of stilbenesynthase (STS) in a variety of plants has led to an enhanced resistance to pathogens, but in others the association has not been proven (Kobayashi et al., 2000; Soleas et al., 1995). Tomato transgenic plants harboring a grape STS had increased levels of resveratrol, ascorbate, and glutathione at the expense of the anthocyanin pathways (Giovinazzo et al. 2005), further emphasizing the intermingled relation among secondary metabolic pathways. Stilbenes are are induced in green and fleshy parts of the berries by biotic and abiotic elicitors (Chong et al., 2009). As is the case for other classes of secondary metabolites, the biosynthesis of stilbenes is not very well understood, but it is known to be under tight spatial and temporal control, which limits the availability of these compounds from plant sources. Only very few studies have attempted to analyze the effects of different environmental components on stilbene accumulation (Jeandet et al., 1995; Martinez-Ortega et al., 2000). Targeted analyses have generally shown higher levels of resveratrol in the grape skin (induced), in seeded varieties, in varieties of wine grapes, and in dark-skinned varieties (Gatto et al., 2008; summarized by Bavaresco et al., 2009). Yet, the effect of the grape variety and the rootstock on stilbene metabolism has not yet been thoroughly investigated (Bavaresco et al., 2009). The study identified a link between vine hydraulic behavior and physiology of stress with the leaf metabolism, which the PIs believe can eventually lead to the modifications identified in the developing berries that interested the polyphenol metabolism and its regulation during development and under stress. Implications are discussed below.
