The paper examines the productivity of a constructional schema of collectivity in Spanish. We analyse nonce-formations derived from typical collective suffixes and classify their meanings. The analysis reveals that the derivation of collection nouns in Spanish is productive, mostly represented by the suffixes ‑erío and ‑amen. A comparison to French and Italian data further reveals a continuum of productivity of this schema in Romance languages. In Italian, it has various subordinated constructions instantiated by the suffixes ‑ame, ‑ume and ‑aglia, with French only being represented by the suffix ‑aille. The study reveals a detailed picture not only of the functional distribution of each suffix and language, but also the functional links between different forms, i.e. suffixes, and functions. The analysis implies that an onomasiological examination of collective nouns in Romance is not only fruitful, but indispensable.

Abstract Austria is a landlocked country in Central Europe, with forests spanning diverse elevations and climates. It currently harbors around 68,000 species, but climate change and fragmentation pose threats to this rich biodiversity. Improving habitat connectivity and consequently allowing species to migrate to new suitable habitats is essential for combating both of these issues. Therefore, a national stepping-stone program with the aim of enhancing forest connectivity and conserving forest biodiversity was initiated. Around 750 stepping stones ranging from 0.5 to 25 hectares in size are to be excluded from regular forest management. Areas of priority include those with a presence of large amounts of deadwood, habitat trees, rare species, and special sites. Identification of these priority areas requires close collaboration with forest owners and employs a GIS-based approach featuring four indicators: Protect Value, Connect Value, Species Value, and Habitat Value. Funding schemes support the program with up to €5040 per hectare over a period of 20 years. The evaluation follows a systematic method, gathering insights and identifying strengths and weaknesses. A steering group oversees the program, and a scientific board advises on research design, data collection, and analysis. Data collection includes both habitat and biodiversity surveys. Stakeholders from the fields of forestry, nature conservation, research, and government are actively involved, supporting the program’s implementation and ensuring transparency. Through collaboration, systematic evaluation, and stakeholder involvement, the program aims to safeguard biodiversity-rich forest ecosystems and ensure long-term success.

While the manifestations of curatorial agency are explored through an analysis of the recontextualisations of museum digitisations of jewellery associated with the Viking Age in user-made collections, its operations are investigated through a long-term engagement with the platform’s employment of machine learning models to select and display images in line with its business model. On Pinterest, museum digitisations take on a transnational and dispersed life as inspiration for historical imagination and craft, as well as for contemporary fashion. AbstractThe purpose of this chapter is to describe how bioavailable soil K is assessed or predicted by soil tests. Soil testing commonly refers to the collection of a sample of soil representative of a field or agronomic management unit and, by way of extraction using chemical reagents, determination of the quantity of a nutrient that can be related to plant uptake or yield. Normally only a small fraction of the total quantity of the nutrient present in the soil is extracted during the procedure, but if that amount can be correlated with actual crop uptake or overall crop productivity, then the soil test is deemed to have useful predictive power.Soil tests are routinely used to guide applications of fertilizer to soil so that crop demand for nutrients can be met effectively and economically. Here, we summarize the procedures involved in collecting a representative soil sample for K analysis, outline how that sample should be prepared for laboratory analysis, highlight the principles and mode of action of routine soil tests, and explore some common issues that may confound the correlation between a soil K test result and plant K acquisition or crop yield. Soil testing methods are discussed in the context of their relationship to the different forms of soil K and the in-soil chemical processes that may change these forms into K that can be taken up by roots.

From here the intrinsic difference of the African sculpture was born.The contribution is divided in three parts. The first one deals with some examples of the above mentioned kind of Works; the second meets a contemporary sculptor, Romuald Hazoume, who creates masks and sculptures with recycled oil drums; the third analyses an important collection of almost unknown antique bronzes who exhibit spectacular shapes.

AbstractDeparting from a close analysis of Portrait of Jennie, and with reference to Laura (Preminger, 1944), Corridor of Mirrors (1948), and Vertigo (Hitchcock, 1958), among other films, this chapter lays out my understanding of the term ‘memory’. Expanding on its intricacies, the chapter characterises gothic protagonists as re-collectors whose movements of search drive the films and posits that the gothic aesthetic exists in places and under certain forms that critics do not usually explore. Such is the case with objects: in the course of the films, particular objects stand out from the mise-en-scène and acquire specific properties that shape the onscreen journeys of the characters and our viewing experience. The Gothic, I suggest, builds on the hoarding and retrieval of memories through what I call ‘memory-objects’: objects that stand for or have become memory, including photographs and wax figures. In this sense, my readings construct re-membering as a spatial act and memory as placeable and tangible. In its tangibility, memory might become transmissible, running the risk of being co-opted by others. This strengthens my overarching argument that the aesthetic foregrounds an exilic discourse wherein the self becomes divorced or estranged from its identity as it tries to recover the past.
