We analyse the evolution of cosmological perturbations which leads to the formation of large voids in the distribution of galaxies. We assume that perturbations are spherical and all components of the Universe - radiation, matter and dark energy - are continuous media with ideal fluid energy-momentum tensors, which interact only gravitationally. Equations of the evolution of perturbations in the comoving to cosmological background reference frame for every component are obtained from equations of conservation and Einstein's ones and are integrated by modified Euler method. An experimental investigation of the response of an oblique shock train to downstream periodic pressure perturbations was conducted. The oblique shock train is generated in a Mach 2.7 ducted flow and controlled by a downstream elliptical shaft. Cyclic rotating of the shaft leads to a periodic oscillatory motion of the oblique shock train. Six cases of perturbation frequency are studied. The results indicate that the downstream pressure perturbations propagate upstream to cause the oblique shock train to oscillate with a translational motion back and forth and the wall pressure to fluctuate wit

This paper deals with perturbed unsteady laminar flows in a pipe. Three types of flows are considered: a flow accelerated from rest; a flow in a pipe generated by the controlled motion of a piston; and a water hammer flow where the transient is generated by the instantaneous closure of a valve. Methods of linear stability theory are used to analyse the behaviour of small perturbations in the flow. Since the base flow is unsteady, the linearized problem is formulated as an initial-value problem. This allows us to consider arbitrary initial conditions and describe both short-time and long-time e

Abstract:
Triggering, frequency shifting, mode switching and hysteresis are commonly encountered during self-sustained oscillations in combustors. These mechanisms cannot be anticipated from classical linear stability analysis and the nonlinear flame response to incident flow perturbations is often invoked to interpret these features. However, the flame may not be solely responsible for nonlinearities. Recent studies indicate that interactions with boundaries can be influenced by the perturbation level and that this needs to be considered. The nonlinear response of acoustic boundary conditions to flow p
