Abstract:
An identification key is provided to the 40 genera worldwide that comprise the Anaphothrips genus-group of Thripinae. Oxythrips japonicus sp.n. and Rubiothrips galii sp.n. are described from Japan, and the members of Anaphothrips genus-group from Japan are reviewed, with 15 species in eight genera. Anaphothrips swezeyi Moulton, Caprithrips insularis Beshear and C. melanophthalmus (Bagnall) are newly recorded from Japan.

Abstract:
Relationships are considered among taxa of Thripinae lacking long setae on the pronotum, and these taxa are here discussed as the Anaphothrips genus-group. Seven genera from Australia are considered members of this group: Anaphothrips, Apterothrips, Aptinothrips, Caprithrips, Dodonaeathrips gen.n., Ozanaphothrips gen. n. and Pandorathrips gen. n. Six new species are described in Ozanaphothrips, and one each in Dodonaeathrips and Pandorathrips. The worldwide genus Anaphothrips now comprises 79 species, of which 43 are here recorded from Australia, including 27 new species. In other parts of the

A key to six species of Anaphothrips known from China is provided, together with distribution information. Anaphothrips dentatus sp. n. is described and illustrated from Sanjiang Plain in northeastern China, based on one male and five apterous females. This species is unusual in having the posterior margin of tergite VIII with a craspedum of small teeth rather than long microtrichia.

Abstract:
Anaphothrips obscurus (Müller), a common pest on the leaves of cereal crops (Ananthakrishnan, 1984), lives on grasses in many parts of the world. However, males of this species have remained unknown, together with the males of 12 more of the 79 species recorded worldwide in the genus Anaphothrips Uzel (Thysanoptera: Thripidae). In the west and northwest of Iran during 2008–2009 we found males of A. obscurus on rice and wheat crops, and this sex is here described and illustrated for the first time.

Abstract:
Anaphothrips sineconus sp. n. is described as unique within the genus for the absence from antennal segment III of a sense cone and reduction in some other character states. Hyalopterothrips brunneus sp. n. is similar to H. crocatus and H. hieroglyphicus in having forked sense cones on antennal segments III–IV. Both new species are collected on the plant family Amaranthaceae in the East of Iran.
