Abstract:
AbstractTwo new and three known species of the family Anatonchidae associated with Quercus spp. in Bulgaria are described and illustrated. Anatonchus genovi n. sp. can be distinguished by the medium size of body (L = 2.5-3.2 mm) and buccal capsule (65- 70 47-59 mum), posterior dorsal tooth, tail short (170-251 mum; c = 13-17; c = 3.1-4.4), elongate conical, narrowly rounded, and cuticle very finely striated at tail tip. Tigronchoides quercus n. sp. is distinguished by females: body 2.5-2.9 mm long, buccal capsule measuring 51-58 43-48 mum, tail 198-267 mum long; males: body 2.1-2.6 mm long, bu

Abstract:
The species diversity of the genera Mononchus Bastian, 1865 and Coomansus Jairajpuri & Khan, 1977 was assessed in a study of the mononchid nematodes from a wide range of riparian habitats in Bulgaria. Four species were identified based on morphological and morphometric data: Coomansus parvus (de Man, 1880), Mononchus truncatus Bastian, 1865, Mononchus pseudoaquaticussp. nov., and Mononchus sp. The first three species were characterised both morphologically and molecularly (18S and 28S rRNA gene sequences) and the integration of these data and phylogenetic analyses provided support for thei

Abstract:
The riparian zones represent habitats of high and specific biodiversity; however, historically they have been subject to intensive exploitation and most of them are drastically changed. Predatory nematodes are widespread terrestrial organisms and play an important role in biological regulation of litter/soil communities. Some preliminary results on the mononchid fauna in riparian habitats in South Bulgaria are presented. Thirty-four samples were collected from 29 localities with various vegetation types in three districts: Sofia, Smolyan and Burgas. Multiple core soil samples (3 per site) were
