Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Recognition of the pivotal role ofHelicobacter pyloriin the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer disease has revolutionized primary care approaches to dyspepsia. Decision analysis was used to compare the cost effectiveness of empirical ranitidine with a test and treat strategy using eitherH pyloriserology or the13carbon-urea breath test (13C-UBT).PATIENTS AND METHODS: A cohort of patients under age 50 years presenting with uninvestigated dyspepsia was evaluated. Three initial strategies were compared with respect to direct medical costs and effectiveness in curingH pylori-related ulcers - empirical ranitidine,H pyloriserology and UBT. A one-year time horizon and third-party payer perspective were adopted in a Canadian health care setting.RESULTS: UBT was more costly than either serology or ranitidine but was the most effective strategy and required the fewest endoscopies. No strategy demonstrated dominance over another in the base case. The incremental cost effectiveness ratio (ICER) of serology versus ranitidine was $118/cure, and sensitivity analysis induced dominance of serology in several plausible scenarios. The baseline ICER of UBT versus serology was $885/cure but showed substantial variation in sensitivity analysis. Each ICER was highly sensitive to variation in the cost of the tests themselves. At a serology cost of $25, UBT became dominant when its cost fell to $39.CONCLUSIONS: In low risk patients with uninvestigated dyspepsia, testing forH pyloriusing serology appears to be economically attractive.13C-UBT may be a cost effective alternative to serology if local conditions closely approximate the model parameters. Future changes in the costs of serology and13C-UBT may determine the optimal approach.

Full text
Abstract:
Converging surface-acoustic waves (SAW) are generated by irradiating the inspected material with an annular-shaped pulsed laser beam. The converging-SAW pulse arrival is detected by a laser interferometer focused on the center of the annulus, where the converging effect produces a strong amplification of the ultrasonic pulse. This technique can be applied either to the detection of defects or to the characterization of the material by measuring the SAW velocity or attenuation. In this paper we present an analysis of the converging-wave propagation in order to explain some features of the detected signal, such as its shape and amplitude for different positions of the probing beam. A comparison with the signal intensities expected for a diverging as well as a collimated SAW is also presented. Applications of this technique to the characterization of anisotropic materials as well as to the detection of subsurface planar defects are presented and discussed.

Abstract:
Jatropha curcas embryos were grown in vitro to observe the effects of lead on cotyledon responses. The cotyledon biomass increased initially and then decreased with increasing lead concentration. The SOD activity increased gradually up to 200 μM and then decreased. The POD activity showed a similar trend. The CAT activity was increased at all lead concentrations, the highest activity being observed at 200 μM. However, the PAL activity was inhibited significantly except for 100 μM. Anaylsis by electrophoresis suggested a significant correlation between lead concentration and patterns of SOD, POD and CAT isoenzymes, and these results were consistent with changes of the antioxidant enzyme activities as assayed in solution.

Morton et al. (2014) presented the results from two rates of potassium (K) pasture trials conducted on Pumice soils which commenced in spring 2009 and ran for 3 years. They reached a number of conclusions with respect to the management of potassium requirements on such soils, based on the soil Quick Test K (QTK) samples (0-75 mm) collected in spring and suggested that the results from these two sites were unique. While noting that soil samples were collected in the autumn, they did not include these data in their anaylsis and discussion of the results. This communication discusses the implications of this omission. Keywords: potassium, pasture, pumice, soil tests

Abstract:
This present study was conducted to analyze the propaganda techniques used by Traveloka in their YouTube social media advertising strategy. The material of analysis were videos taken from 2015 to 2019. Anaylsis of propaganda techniques proposed by Filene in 1937 and followed by Abd. Kadir, Hasan & Sauffiyan, 2014 were used to identify how Traveloka persuade its customers. Finding shows that Traveloka used six techniques of propaganda in its advertising videos to; glittering generality, plain folks, card staking, visual symbol of power, music of propaganda and arousal of emotion to promote its products. The use of propaganda technique is very likely becoming one of the main reasons behind their customers and target audiences use of their services.

The triple testcross breeding design was applied to a set of F7 and RF7 pure-breeding lines derived from normal and irradiated F2 seeds of the cross 'Bonneville' × T 163. Two phenotypically extreme lines and their F1 were used as testers in both control and irradiated materials. Epistasis was, in general, not an important component of variation. Additive component was the most important, while dominance was detected in 3 of 10 cases. The additive and dominance components in general decreased following irradiation as a result of additive and dominance effects of induced new alleles being smaller than those generated by the original alleles they replaced.Key words: triple testcross, irradiation, single seed descent, genetic anaylsis, pea.

For policymakers, keep prices stable is a persistent goal to pursue. This article firstly investigates the background of inflation, its history, causes and costs are included. Then gives recommendations for U.S. to combat inflation without recession. For monetary policies, rising federal funds rate and Reverse Repurchase Agreement are the contractionary tools to decrease inflation rate in the short run. For fiscal policies, decreasing business tax and stimulating the labor market are supply-side policies that can be used to promote economic growth in the long run. Moreover, we examine the effect on labor market particularly. Based on these anaylsis, we conclude that the most efficient method is to combine the four monetary and fiscal policies.

Abstract:
Though millennial has unique characteristics as digital natives who prefer to interact with images, branded goods, to have idols and who are interested in modern technological utilization, studying their career decision-making difficulties (CDMD) is barely reported in Indonesia. To respond to such gap, the current report was designed to pattern the CDMD of both male (N = 120) and female (N = 140) undergraduate students in Indonesia. The instrument of the research was totally adopted from Gati et al's. (1996) career decision-making difficulties questionnaire. Descriptive anaylsis showed that the male (M = 4.93) have higher difficulties than the females (M = 4.85). With different levels of difficulties, the current study, therefore, corresponds to Mau's (2004), Guan et al's. (2015), and di Fabio, Palazzeschi, Levin, Levin, and Gati's (2015) reports.

Abstract:
AbstractMan‐made hazards, such as fire, explosions, or impacts, may induce the progressive collapse of structures, in which the localised failure spreads from the single affected structural component to other parts of the structure. A typical approach to model progressive collapse consists in performing static column removal analyses considering a Dynamic Increase Factor (DIF), whose determination becomes paramount to account for the dynamic effects related to a sudden column loss scenario. Current recommendations on the definition of such factor mainly consider a beam‐type collapse in non‐linear analyses, though different mechanisms, e.g., column buckling, may govern progressive collapse events. This paper presents the determination of the DIFs through a numerical procedure for five steel structures with an increasing number of storeys. Both global and local imperfections are modeled to account for the geometric non‐linearities of the structure and column buckling. DIF values are obtained considering two different Engineering Demand Parameters (EDPs), suited for describing beam‐type and column‐type mechanisms respectively. The evaluated DIFs are compared with the values recommended in the current UFC design prescriptions for progressive collapse, and considerations on the choice of the appropriate DIF values are provided.

Abstract:
Objective: Cholinesterase and tyrosinase inhibitory activity potential of microwave-assisted and subcritical water extracts of Raphanus sativus L. Red Meat roots were investigated. Material and Method: Total phenol, flavonoid and anthocyanin content of extracts from conventional solvent and advanced extraction systems were spectrophotometrically quantified. Acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase and tyrosinase inhibitory activities were investigated with the calculation of the rate of absorbance change with kinetic readings. Result and Discussion: The subcritical water extract was found to provide highest acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase and tyrosinase inhibitory activities with an IC50 of 0.71 mg/ml, 2.13 mg/ml and 1.21 mg/ml, respectively. Consistent with the anaylsis of total phenol (27.57 mg GAE/g) and flavonoid (4.80 mg QE/g) contents, subcritical water extract of red meat radish can be considered as a potential source for products aiming enzyme inhibitory activity.
