The relevance of studying the ancient Koryak culture of the Northern Okhotsk region is noted. A difficult problem is the study of its funeral rituals. One of the most promising sites for studying the ancient Koryak burial complexes is Cape Bratyev and Cape Bukhty Malaya Astronomicheskaya. The paper evaluates works of ancient authors who mention and provide details of the burial of fallen soldiers in ancient Greece, and then it compares them with preserved archaeological finds. Textual analysis shows a long-term tradition of war graves on battlefields. В статье публикуются материалы исследования двух погребений. Это кремации, захороненные на могильнике Соколова Пустынь 2 второй половины X – начала XI в. н. э. (левый берег р. Оки, возле г. Ступино). Погребение 21 типично для периферии могильника: небольшая порция костей была уложена на древнюю поверхность или в небольшую ямку. Инвентарь отсутствовал. The article publishes the materials of the Eastern Crimean Bronze Age settlement of the Kamenskaya culture, explored in the lower layers during excavations of the ancient burial ground near the ancient settlement «Belinskoe». The analysis of the settlement materials suggests that there was an outpost in the Bronze Age. Further excavations may provide information about similar living conditions of the local population both in the Middle Bronze Age and in ancient times.
