Review question / Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the prognostic status of PET/MRI on surgery in patients with refractory epilepsy, and the methods chosen were randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and case series of >15 patients. Condition being studied: Medically intractable epilepsy, characterized by recurrent episodes of tonicity, disorientation, spasms, and convulsions, affects 1-2% of the population because treatment trials with 3 or more different antiepileptic drugs have failed.
