Abstract:
The abrasive wear resistance of martensitic overlays is the function of many variables. The hardness is one of the variables. This fact is raised by the possibility of carbidic phases separating from the austenite in the course the overlay layer cooling and by the possibility of the further martensite disintegration and carbidic phases precipitation. The paper is engaged in the hardness and abrasive wear resistance problems of one-layer martensitic overlays.

Abstract:
In order to model and optimise the structural parameters of the working parts of agricultural machines, including harvesting machines, the mechanical properties of the culture harvested must be known. The purpose of this article is to determine the mechanical properties of the blueberry plant’s stem; more precisely the tensile strength and consequent elastic modulus E. In order to achieve this goal, the measuring instrument Instron 5969L2610 was used and accompanying software BlueHill 3 was used for analysing the test results. The tested blueberry plant’s stems were collected from the blueberry plantation of the Farm Marjasoo. The diameters of the stems were measured, test units were prepared, tensile tests were performed, tensile strength was determined and the elastic modulus was obtained. Average value of the elastic modulus of the blueberry (Northblue) plant’s stem remained in the range of 1268.27–1297.73 MPa.

Full text
Abstract:
The presented contribution deals with the quantification of moisture, combustible matter content, ash content and higher heating value of the selected types of biomass used for the heat production by direct combustion. The moisture, combustible matter, and ash contents were determined by gravimetric analysis in accordance with the established standards. The average moisture of the materials examined varied from 4.35 to 9.17%; the combustible matter content in the original samples ranged from 79.46 to 93.51%; the ash content ranged from 2.14 to 11.28%. Higher heating values of the examined types of biomass varied from 14,996 to 17,641 kJ/kg. The main contribution of the thesis is the acquisition of values usable in subsequent theoretical and practical efforts to increase the efficiency of the heat production by direct combustion of biomass. The results are useable in biomass boiler design and in identifying suitable conditions for combustion, including the service parameters of biomass boilers.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the measurement of the resonance frequencies of wheat stems with special respect to different wheat varieties. For the measurement, the dynamical method of the transverse frequency was used. Formulas were derived for the calculation of the bending toughness of stems. The t-test was used for the evaluation of the strength coefficient in bending for the samples of stems of different wheat varieties. The results can be used for the evaluation of the wheat resistance to lodging.

Abstract:
Abu-Dleek sheep are from animal hair producers and live under arid conditions and hot climate. This study aims to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of Abu-Dleek tanned leathers. Fifteen sheep skins were collected and divided into three tanning groups; chrome tanning, vegetable tanning with quebracho and vegetable tanning with mimosa. After tanning, all tanned leathers were tested physically and chemically. Data showed increments in tensile strengh, tearing strengh, bursing stretch, permeabiliy of water vapor, pH and ash values of chrome tanned leathers versus vegetable tanned leathers. The results declared the superurity of the chrome tanned leathers’ quality, while quebrcho tanned leathers’ quality was surpased mimosa tanned leathers. It could be concluded the convenient of Abu-Dleek tanned leathers to be used in a wide range of manufacuring purposes like garments, bags and lining.

Abstract:
The goal of this study was the determination of basic physical properties such as density, calorific value and rheological properties of liquid biofuels. Biofuels on the base of bioethanol and rapeseed methyl ester were chosen. Following control samples were selected: diesel oil without admixture of methyl esters and commercially available diesel oils with small amount of methyl ester admixture (6.2 and 6.5%). Dynamic viscosities of individual samples were measured in the range from –10°C to 50°C. Then dependence of shear rate on shear stress was measured at temperatures –10, 0, 20 and 40°C. The most of samples showed the Newtonian behaviour. However, samples with high content of methyl esters or pure methyl esters showed thixotropy behaviour at the low temperature.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper deals with the evaluation of mechanical properties of the cylinder pellet samples. The pellets were made from hay by the granulating machine MGL 200 (Kovonovak) provided by the Department of Production Engineering, Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The pellets were submitted to compressive loading. The compressive loading curves of dependencies of force on strain and force on time were realised by the test stand Andilog Stentor 1000. Certain mechanical parameters were determined, namely the diameter of the sample, length of the sample, force at 10% of strain, force in the first maximum of the force – strain curve, strain in the first maximum of the force – strain curve, modulus of elasticity, force in the inflex point of the force – time and force – strain curves and strain and stress in the inflex point of the force – time and force – strain curves. Significant correlations of the mechanical parameters were observed between the inflex point and the first maximum point of the loading curves. There were find out, the compression force, stress and strain in the inflex point significantly correlate with the force, stress and strain in the first maximum.

Abstract:
The fact that milk fat contains many minor fatty acids is mostly neglected. It is known that 11-cyclohexylundecanoic acid is contained in cow’s milk fat in the amount of 0.1–0.2%. It is also contained in human milk. 11-Cyclohexylundecanoic acid was synthesised, purified to 99.5% (GC) and its antimicrobial properties were investigated. It was found that 11-cyclohexylundecanoic acid has inhibitory effects on Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, and Fusarium culmorum from the concentration of 0.05 mmol/l, however, no antimicrobial effect on Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been determined. 11-Cyclohexylundecanoic acid was found also in goat and cow milk fat on the level of 0.1–0.2%. It is convenient to hydrogenate the sample of fat before the determination of 11-cyclohexylundecanoic acid by GC method. Keywords:

Full text
Abstract:
The permittivity of potato tissue was studied during uniaxial compression of cylindrical specimens prepared from two early varieties. Both the real and the imaginary permitivity components were determined repeatedly during the loading and unloading tests. The analysis of the results obtained shows that small differences exist between the permittivity of the late and early potato varieties. The differences are concentrated mainly at frequencies higher than 1 kHz with a maximum between 10 and 100 kHz. The effect of deformation is concentrated into frequencies between 1 and 100 kHz. The effect of deformation on the permittivity values can be divided into reversible and irreversible parts. The results obtained in the loading/unloading tests give some more information on the proportion of both parts.

Abstract:
Our objective was to determine which rhizome extract from Japanese knotweed, Giant knotweed or Bohemian knotweed has the most significant inhibition effect on the germinated seeds. The seeds of white mustard were incubated with the extracts for two days under laboratory conditions. We monitored differences in number of germinated seeds, length of radicles, hypocotyls and root/shoot ratio between the control and experimental seeds. Inhibitory effect of extracts from dried knotweed rhizomes was confirmed, but without differences among tested plants. A higher allelopathic effect was revealed in the case of extract from aboveground parts.
