This research is a qualitative research, the method used to collect data is interviews. The subjects in this study were the owners, managers and visitors of swimming pools in Kebumen Regency. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis in a narrative manner. Planning for swimming pool management in Kebumen Regency is done quite well, each swimming pool has a short, medium and long term plan. The organization of swimming pool management in Kebumen Regency is still not going well, some swimming pools do not have a management organizational structure. The implementation of swimming pool management in Kebumen Regency is going quite well, every employee and employee is working satisfactorily. Supervision carried out by swimming pool owners in Kebumen Regency is carried out by verbal coordination, reporting is carried out only based on bookkeeping.

Abstract:
This research aims to find out the concept and management of the Alifa swimming pool and how the Alifa swimming pool implements the sharia system in it. The research method used is qualitative and descriptive. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through interviews with swimming pool managers, one swimming pool employee and two swimming pool visitors. Secondary data was obtained through literature related to the concept and management of swimming pools. The results of this research show that the concept and management of the Alifa swimming pool is quite good in terms of sharia. Even though the Alifa swimming pool still has one swimming pool and there are no separate swimming pools for men and women, the Alifa swimming pool has a schedule for non-Muslim men and women. Compared to other conventional swimming pools, the Alifa swimming pool looks quite comfortable. However, there needs to be improvement in the management of the Alifa swimming pool so that it meets all halal aspects, as regulated in the DSN-MUI, for example separating swimming pools between men and women and providing proper and closed worship facilities.

Abstract:
The swimming pool is a part of tourism, entertainment, and sports activities. The development of halal tourism demands swimming pool facilities that can better meet Sharia principles that benefit Muslim consumers. This study aims to reveal Sharia swimming pool management practices and explore why its customers choose Sharia swimming pools over conventional swimming pools. This research was conducted to reveal the halal lifestyle that has penetrated halal tourism, including swimming pools based on Sharia principles. This study uses a phenomenological approach to reveal the phenomenon of swimming pool practices and factors that affect its customers. This study interviewed 15 people with characteristics of high-intensity Sharia swimming pool use. It revealed that Islamic pool management practices include rules for members to enter, swimwear, facilities, and services provided. This study explores the factors influencing Islamic pool consumers by grouping them internally and externally. Internal factors impacting Sharia swimming pool users include comfort, halal lifestyle, and health. At the same time, the support of facilities, encouragement from others, and unpleasant experiences in public or traditional swimming pools are part of external factors. This study is expected to become a reference for Sharia swimming pool management practices and evidence of the findings of factors that encourage consumers to choose Sharia swimming pools.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to determine the management of swimming pools in the Boja District, Kendal Regency. The research method used is qualitative research, namely collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research location was carried out in four swimming pools in Boja District, namely the Boja Swimming Pool, the Boja River Walk Swimming Pool, the Tirta Nusantara Swimming Pool and the Trisobo Park Agro Tourism Swimming Pool. The results obtained in the form of data planning (planning), Organizing (Organizing), Staffing (Staffing), Motivating (Motivating), Supervision (Controlling). Based on the existing data, it can be concluded that the management of swimming pools in the Boja District in 2020 is said to be good, but the supervisory management function has not gone well. The results of this research are expected that the owners of swimming pools in Boja District will increase supervision so that the swimming pool can run well and make innovations to improve the quality of the swimming pool.

Abstract:
In this paper, outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis in swimming pools in the last 20 years are summarized. Cryptosporidium oocysts are very resistant to many disinfectants, including chlorine, one of the most widely-used disinfectants in swimming pools. Ozone or UV is shown to inactivate Cryptosporidium, while not effective to newly introduced Cryptosporidium and bacteria because of no residual ozone or UV in the treated swimming pool water. Additionally, swimming pool sand filters or cartridge filters are not able to effectively remove Cryptosporidium (removal rate <50%). Above 99% Cryptosporidium removals are achieved in drinking water treatment, but swimming pool water treatment is different from drinking water treatment: no coagulation is performed prior to filtration in most US swimming pools, filtration rate is four to five times higher for swimming pool water treatment compared with drinking water treatment, and the input compounds and microorganisms from bathers continuously recirculate in the swimming pool. Moreover, up-to-date Cryptosporidium or Cryptosporidium surrogate removals from swimming pools are discussed, and alternative swimming pool treatment techniques are reviewed.

Human development and national competitivenes is one of the flagship programs from The Indonesian Government. Bali as one of the best tourist destination in the world is required to have an international standard tourism infrastructure. A swimming pool in a tourism accomodation is a standard facility in a tourist infrastructure. There are several types of swimming pools i.e. public swimming pools and private pools. During its development and demand, private pools develop into swimming pools with additional facilities such as warm water, which is often called a jacuzzi. Another additional facility is added pressure to the water in completing massage, fragrance and foam. The swimming pool is one of facilitity designed to hold water to allow swimming or other recreational activities. Pools can be built in the ground or on the ground as a free construction or as a part of structure and also with a common feature or a free style design. In-ground pools are the most common pools made and constructed from materials such as concrete, natural stone, metal, plastic, or fiberglass. To support comfort and satisfaction when using the swimming pool, the adequate water level in the swimming pool will be maintained by system with several supporting devices such as pumps, dirt filters and maintained at a certain level. Other things that support water quality include temperature, water turbidity, color, odor, pH, chlorine content etc.

Abstract:
The Balearic Islands are a major Mediterranean tourist destination that features one of the greatest swimming pool densities within Europe. In this paper, standard meteorological data were combined with a diachronic swimming pool inventory to estimate water evaporation from swimming pools over the Balearic archipelago. Evaporation was estimated using an empirical equation designed for open-water surfaces. Results revealed a 32% increase in swimming pools’ water use by 2015. Evaporation from swimming pools added 9.6 L of water to touristic consumption per guest night and person, and represented 4.9% of the total urban water consumption. In 2015, almost 5 hm3 (5 billion L) were lost from pools across the Balearic Islands. In several densely urbanized areas, evaporative water loss from pools exceeded four million litres per square kilometre and year. The water needed to refill the total of 62,599 swimming pools and to counteract evaporative water loss is equivalent to 1.2 pools per year. Swimming pools have rapidly proliferated across the islands. We have expounded on this development in view of much-needed responsible water management across the islands.

Guaranteeing the safety of swimming pools is a paramount concern worldwide. Robust risk assessment and management practices are crucial for ensuring public safety. A comprehensive understanding of the chemical equilibrium required in pool water and a thorough assessment of the associated physicochemical, microbiological, operational, and maintenance risks have become prerequisites for effective swimming pool management. The aim of the present study was to identify, for the first time in Greece, all the possible hazards at different swimming pools as a first step of the scientific-based risk assessment procedure. Six distinct swimming pools, comprising two open sports pools, two indoor pools, and two children’s pools designed for baby swimming, were included. Water samples were collected for physicochemical and microbiological analyses, and on-site inspections were conducted across the swimming pools. A detailed evaluation of potential identified hazards categorized risks based on their level of impact and likelihood of occurrence; mitigation measures were proposed. Comprehensive risk assessments are essential for swimming pools, as they need to address the specific hazards and vulnerabilities of each facility.

Abstract:
An analysis was carried out to determine the presence of enteroviruses and adenoviruses in public swimming pools in Cyprus. The effectiveness of the commonly implemented disinfection procedure of chlorination was confirmed by determination of bacteriological markers. Analysis of viral presence was carried out by sampling random swimming pools from the five major cities in Cyprus during a period of 21 months spanning from April 2007 to December 2008. A 10 l sample was taken from each swimming pool to be tested and was subsequently concentrated via membrane filtration using a new methodological approach for virus elution. Concentrated samples were analysed using of a Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) TaqMan® probe based approach to detect the presence of enteroviruses and adenoviruses. Over the period of 21 months a total of 126 swimming pools were sampled and analysed. In four swimming pools enteroviruses were detected, in one pool echovirus 18 was identified, in two pools echovirus 30 was identified and in one other pool poliovirus Sabin 1 was identified. Similarly, in four swimming pools adenoviruses were detected, in all four adenovirus 41 was identified. Bacteriological marker analysis showed that 98% of pools complied with Cyprus regulations.

Abstract:
Swimming pools constructed with reinforced concrete require a high level of expertise within both, its planning and execution. To build waterproof concrete shells, extensive concrete technology knowledge, detailed planning of joint formation and high quality safety measures are needed. This thesis evaluates concrete technology features for swimming pool construction in Germany and Sweden. In particular, guidelines by DafStb, DIN and DgfdB provide the planner with detailed advice and specifics about swimming pools. It also gives an overview about the actual condition of swimming pools in Sweden that reached an age of at least 30 years and shows structural consequences of mistakes in planning and construction of swimming pools. The aspect of financial consequences is also analyzed. With the support of the software “Legep”, the methodology of LCC was used to estimate costs in the future. Additionally, a proposal of post tensioned concrete as a more sustainable technology for watertight concrete basins is shown and under equal aspects analyzed and compared.

Abstract:
Microbial attachment and proliferation on a surface leads to the formation of a structure known as a biofllm. In this thesis attention is directed towards the attachment of microorganisms to submerged surfaces in private swimming pools Samples were taken from two private swimming pools located in West Lancashire, England. The planktonic phase of the water was sampled using a standard fluid grab technique and the submerged surfaces (e.g. the pool lining, the steps and the water recirculation trap) were sampled using swabs and a scalpel blade to scrape the surface. Using these techniques, thirteen different bacteria (e.g. Pseudomonas spp. and Staphylococcus spp.) and one alga (Chlorella vulgaris) were isolated from the two private swimming poois. In both cases the use of a swimming pool sanitiser (Baquacil, ICI Chemicals) showed excellent control of the planktonic population. Only algae were recovered from the fluid grab sample when incubated in appropriate media. Bacteria were found to be present only on plates incubated aerobically and from areas where swabbing/scraping had taken place. No anaerobic bacteria were isolated even after a long incubation period of 120 h. On further investigation it was shown that two of the isolated species, Pseudomonas maltophilia and Ps.putida, were capable of producing extracellular polymeric substance (EPS). Production of this material has been implicated in the initial adhesion of bacteria, and further, it can act as a barrier against the diffusion of the sanitiser so that organisms exhibit higher levels of tolerance to the added swimming pooi sanitiser. Laboratory studies demonstrated that planktonic populations of one of the isolates, Pseudomonas fluorescens, attached rapidly to the surface of PVC coupons from a planktonic population thereby mimicking the in vivo situation. The shortest time investigated for attachment (3.5 h) demonstrated that up to 1x10 7 cells/cm2 were firmly adhered to the surface. Attacimient to the coupons wasalso shown to provide resistance to the swimming pool sanitiser below, at and above the recommended levels (Chapter 2), the greatest increase in resistance being two fold. Planktonic populations of bacteria were reduced to acceptable levels after incubation for only 3 hours in a dilute medium. It was also shown that the organism attached to the surface produced extracellular material. On screening of Ps.fluorescens mutants (approximately 2000, induced by transposon mutagenesis, Chapter 4) for altered sanitiser resistance, it was found that 14 of these mutants had an increased resistance to the sanitiser above that shown by the wild type cells. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of total cell protein extracts of thirteen of these mutants revealed that in 11 cases, a band with a molecular weight between 52,000 and 54,000 was induced or enhanced when biocide was added to the system. If a swimming pool is not to become a potential source of infection to the bathers then attention must be paid to the submerged surface-attached population of microorganisms. Planktonic sampling will indicate that there is little microbial activity within the main body of the pool water but the techniques used only assess the quality of the bulk fluid phase of the system and not the submerged surfaces. The attachment of potentially pathogenic micro-organisms to submerged surfaces must be accepted as a nornrnl occurrence. In this state, the organisms often exhibit increased resistance to the swimming pool sanitiser. Therefore, regular cleaning (i.e. scrubbing/vacuuming) of the submerged surfaces is suggested as a part of the recommended maintenance programme for domestic swimming pools of this type.

Dry weather dominates several U.S. states, and some of them experience even long-term droughts. Yet, more than 10.6 million swimming pools exist in the U.S., and over 43,000 of them are in greater Los Angeles. Since roughly 100% of their water evaporates on a yearly basis, pool water evaporation accounts for a significant amount of water being wasted every day. Several studies have been conducted to create a proper equation for the evaporation rate on a pool surface, based on the wind speed, water temperature, and relative humidity. This thesis will address a research gap that was found in exploring the way the surroundings of the pool can affect its evaporation rate. In particular, this study examines the relation of the urban design to the evaporation rate of outdoor swimming pools by studying the way the housing type of a neighborhood affects the wind speed over the neighborhood’s pool surfaces.

Abstract:
Swimming is one of the most popular recreational activities around the world. The interactions and activities of bathers during swimming may introduce contaminants which can lead to serious infections and health issues. There are a number of different techniques currently used to improve the sanitation in swimming pools. Some of the disinfectants commonly used in swimming pools include chlorine ozone and UV radiation. Chlorination is popular because it is simple, affordable and has residuals, but there is evidence that it may pose risks to human health as chlorine reacts with organic and inorganic matter in the water which generates disinfection by-products (DBPs). Extensive research has been performed on the kinetics of DBPs formation, and on the fate of chlorine in swimming pools. However, the effects of hydraulics in swimming pools have not been given the same level of attention. This thesis focuses on examining the fate of chlorine based on hydraulic behaviour in swimming pools using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach. Three different scenarios have been studied to estimate the effects of inlet size on the distribution of chlorine in indoor swimming pools. The spatial distribution of chlorine and the mixing rates for chlorine are known to be significantly affected by the inlet size. In all three selected scenarios, after a period of two hours, the average concentration of chlorine in the swimming pool reached a constant level of approximately 60% of the maximum injected concentration. The simulation results suggest that, while the mass flow rate is constant, a smaller inlet size provides better mixing rates. The chemical reaction of chlorine with ammonia has been examined using random releases to mimic urine release in swimming pools. The results show that significant amounts of ammonia may not react with chlorine. Chlorine available for the reaction was found to be far less than the required amount. This research contributes towards improved understanding of the chlorination process in swimming pools. This research guides an improved indoor swimming pool design that can ensure better chlorine distribution and reduced DBPs formation, and thereby reduced human health risks.<br>Applied Science, Faculty of<br>Engineering, School of (Okanagan)<br>Graduate

This thesis explores the relationship between the social history and the filmic history of the swimming pool. The history of the swimming pool and the history of the movies wove themselves together during the first half of the twentieth century. By 1950, the image of the swimming pool and the image of the movie star were connected in the social imaginary. Discourses about gender, health, discipline and the body were moulded by the architectural environment of the swimming pool, when the movies translated the image of the swimming pool, they carried these ideas along with them. These ideas affected the formation of modern subjectivities. This thesis attempts to demonstrate one of the means by which a particular set of ideas infiltrated the collective psyche<br>Cette thèse examine le rapport entre l'histoire sociale et l'histoire filmique de la piscine. Elle tente de démonter le moyen par lequel une tendance particulier c'est inflirté dans la psyché collective. L'histoire de la piscine et l'histoire du cinema se sont entrelacé au cours de la prèmiere moitier du vingtieme sciècle. Par l'année 1950, l'image de la piscine et l'image de la vedette étaient liés dans l'imagination sociale. Les discours au sujet de sexe, la santé, la discipline et le corps étaient façonné par l'environment architecturale de la piscine. Abstract:
Abstract Aluminum swimming pools have been built for over two decades. Usually, pool tanks are fabricated from a welded 5000 series aluminum and piping components from a 6000 series. A large modern Aquatics complex in Southern California features a 50 meter competition pool, a 33-1/3 meter diving pool and a 25 yard recreation pool. The interiors of the pools were coated with a chlorinated rubber system. No other corrosion control was provided initially. The three pools have suffered pitting corrosion along welds, around lights and grills, in drains, in distribution piping, in gutters and return water plenums. The pools have corroded on the outside from exposure to ground water and soil. After 5 years, leaks have occurred in distribution piping, under the diving and recreation pools from soil side attack. Cathodic protection systems have been designed and installed. Impressed current is used on the outside and zinc anodes on the inside chambers. A new high build vinyl coating system will be applied after sandblasting when all the aluminum rework has been completed.

Abstract In November 2011 a 5 month old baby sadly got killed in a Dutch indoor swimming pool because 2 speakers and a speaker frame landed on her head. The speakers fell from 5 meters height after a stainless steel bolt was broken due to environmental cracking. Worldwide there have been many incidents, and several accidents, with cracking stainless steels in the swimming pool atmosphere. In 1985 in Switzerland 12 people got killed by a cracked stainless steel elements that caused the collapse of a swimming pool roof. This paper will describe how this accident could happen and what has been done in the Netherlands since 2001, when the entire ceiling and air channels came down in another swimming pool (luckily this occurred during closing time). Further a new document MIS1203-2012 will be discussed: "Materials Selection and Inspection of Fasteners and other Loaded Elements in the Indoor Swimming Pool Atmosphere".

A comparative analysis of the performances of three outdoor swimming pools for private use with different types of covers is presented in this paper. They are designed to take advantage of solar irradiation to maintain the swimming pool temperature within certain acceptable limits, so that the swimming pool can be used during most of the year under South-Europe climatic conditions. In this region, the annual global irradiation is of the order of 1800 kWh/m2 and air temperature is in the range from 0°C to 40°C during the whole year. No auxiliary boosting is used to heat the swimming pools.

When hair is entrained in the discharge flow through a suction fitting or drain, it’s withdrawal will generally be resisted by gravity, drag, friction, buoyancy and interference. Large withdrawal forces obviously lead to a horrifying safety problem. Abstract:
The aim of the contribution is to verify the financial rentability of projects for the construction or modernization of public outdoor swimming pools. Verification of rentability is based on the identification of unit investment costs and the balance of operating cash-flows. The evaluation is processed for a set of 23 outdoor swimming pools in the South Moravian region. The least financially demanding solution appears to be the construction of swimming biotopes, which show the significantly lowest unit investment costs per unit of water area and the lowest operating costs. But also, the lowest unit income from entrance fees is related to this. Most swimming pools show a negative balance of operating cash-flow, a positive balance of operating cash-flow was identified only at 3 swimming pools. Even for these swimming pools, however, the payback period of invested investment funds significantly exceeds the reference period. Thus, all swimming pools are dependent on state aid in the investment phase, the majority also on operating subsidies.

The definition of a swimming pool is based on the Australian Standard (AS1926.1-2012 Safety Barriers for Swimming Pools) which states a swimming pool is “any structure containing water to a depth greater than 300 mm and used primarily for swimming, wading, paddling or the like, including a bathing or wading pool, or spa pool.” Pool fencing legislation is governed at a jurisdictional level, with each State or Territory responsible for their own compliance laws, swimming pool registers and inspection regimes. Provided a portable pool can be filled to a depth of at least 300mm, it is included in the definition of a swimming pool and therefore the relevant legislation applies. The current Australian Standard (AS1926.1-2012) is the standard for several States and Territories but not all, with some using an older version of the standard and others adopting a modified standard. This current standard outlines the requirements for an effective barrier, specifying a fence height of at least 1.2m and a non-climbable zone of 900mm surrounding the outside of the fence. Further details refer to maximum gaps between fence palings and the requirements of the pool gate, which should be self-closing and latching and always swing outwards away from the pool. The requirement for a private swimming pool or spa to be registered and inspected differs by jurisdiction, with some States and Territories requiring registration through local authorities and periodic inspections to ensure adequate maintenance. Similarly, in some jurisdictions additional rules apply regarding the sale or lease of an affected property. This may include a compliance certificate which is valid for a specified period of time. Required safety signage is specified in some States and Territories, such as the presence of cardiopulmonary resuscitation guidance. Legislation has recently been updated in some jurisdictions and is currently under review in others.

Abstract:
The performance of 26 PVT-Systems was analysed and compared in IEA-SHC Task 60. The systems are located in countries with different climatic conditions. The applications range from direct domestic hot water production and heating of public swimming pools to heat pump systems with PVT as the main heat source of the heat pump. The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) determined for the different PVT solutions give the possibility to compare the systems despite their diversity. The goal was to show the potential of PVT collectors in different fields of application. The results show that the integration of PVT collectors in different kinds of well-dimensioned systems leads to competitive solutions, both from an energy and a financial perspective. Additionally the answers to a survey about control strategies for PVT systems, showing some main problems and possible solutions, are summarised.
