Full textThe research proposes to think about the art that is done in the streets in their modes of creation and self - analysis, establishing a dialogue between different artists that occupy Rua da Praia, in the city of Porto Alegre - RS, with some knowledge about art today. Through interviews with live statues, independent bands and solo musicians, portrait painters and wandering poets, one seeks to understand how the artist perceives the street in relation to what I will call an Urban Gallery and the motives surrounding the choice of Street as stage our gallery. As a methodology and development principle for theoretical research, a cartography is created, assuming a research in movement, in which the researcher's path articulates knowledge. For the understanding of cartography and its investigation for data analysis, authors such as Félix Guattari, Gilles Deleuze, Suely Rolnik and Virginia Kastrup are used. As well as for the understanding of the street and the art that appropriates it, dialogue with Raquel Rolnik, Vera Pallamin, Paola Jacques, and artists: MárcioPetracco (Bluegrass Porto-alegrense), WelciAraújo, Abraham Ponce, Pablo Seearasta (Som Central) and musics Marcelo da Luz, Pedro Ourique, Jean Kartabil, Lester Borges this band Cartas naRua.At the end of the course, in addition to perceiving the issues surrounding the choice of the street as a stage, and the landscapes that are created, through the artists' speeches, we discuss the sociocultural relations that are crossed through the appropriation of urban spaces for the Art.

This dissertation investigates how the work of street performers is constituted in Porto Alegre/RS in order to analyze the meaning of art and work for them, as well as their work conditions and organized resistance. This work is grounded on the Critical Social Theory from Marx since it has its political content allied to the praxis of social transformation, as well as to base our work on the Marx's method as a mediation to analyze the dynamic reality of the capitalist society since it understands its particularities and contradictions due to the domination and exploration of work. In methodology, we opt by a qualitative research. We used an empirical analysis in which we made a semi-structured interview with seven (7) street performers in addition to observation and field diary. The data collection was made in different places (locus) of Porto Alegre. We intend, among the aims of this investigation, to provide data from the work of street performers to the Social Work, Art, and related areas. In order to show the world of the artistic work in Porto Alegre. We aim to use collected data as a complement for discussions and social mobilizations of street performances and general community. The research data will be available in 2017 on traditional and alternative way, such as dissertation defense, e-mail, CD-ROM, independent mini-documentary, 3th Festival of Street Performers in Porto Alegre, book writing, and political organizations that fight for the democratization of art. We highlight that the identification data and artists names collected are reserved in secrecy.

Full textThis study aims to understand the meaning of schooling for the young on the streets at the Porto Alegre Municipal School, maintained by the city of Porto Alegre/RS, in which are met, in addition to these young people, residents of the shelters and of communities away from the downtown area. For this, I used the qualitative methodology with ethnographic research approach that, by having a relationship with the educational area, is concerned about the educational processes. For this reason, I emphasize that I adopted some technical procedures of ethnographic research as participant observation and interviews, without losing sight the of the pedagogical dimension of the study.I conducted the research with young in homeless situation, teachers, employees and the teaching staff, both within that school environment, availing myself of the influences of the environment to understand phenomena contextually. This search for schooling and for the institutional space is, before to fight for a right that have been denied to them, to seek for mutual recognition actively participating in social life. The space in question, with its genuinely school character, can operate in the struggle for social recognition of the students. With its ideal standards out of the ones of the network which meets, opposing the heavier side of the balance. The school contributes to the basis for the own recognition of the individual while teaches/educates, provides students the perspective of a social citizen for which the knowledge gained in school, it makes sense.

This investigate examines the presence of the street food in the Brique da Redenção in Porto Alegre / RS - Brazil, especially regarding its practices, the possible inherent counterpoints in the activity, and its relationship with Tourism in Porto Alegre. The study uses qualitative and exploratory methodology in which we opted for the use of techniques related to those used by tourists to experience the place visited, during their travels, such as: walking, watching and semi-structured interviews with five sellers of this gastronomic genre. The analysis shows that in the Brique da Redenção there are a notoriously feminine and homelike activity, mostly with the goal of producing a food rich in flavor and quality. It was observed that, at least in the Brique da Redenção, the Street Food play key role regarding the Citizen Tourist, but the entrepreneurs do not consider their relationship to tourism.

Full textThis is a typological study of architecture of the present retail commerce of the city of Porto Alegre. The proposed theme defines the researched field according to a same functional connection. However, this field can be divided into specific programmatic, organizational and formal varieties, which interact in many ways with the existing urban morphology. This dissertation aims at surveying the main alternatives adopted by commercial architecture in Porto Alegre, as well as to systemize and to analyse it through typological criteria. The typological analysis is used as an instrument to specifically survey a series of architectural events - the retail commercial buildings -, and how they relate to urban morphology. This analysis allows us to see and to study the city as a physical artifact. This study includes a view of the emergence and development of different architectural typologies aimed at retail commerce in international architecture, establishing precedents for a typological classification in Porto Alegre. The methodological criteria employed in survey, classification and analysis of examples are described, and, fmally, the identified types are analysed and compared.

Full textThe research presented here seeks to question the theme, the conditions and ways of life of woman who lives in streets in Porto Alegre – RS. It aims to be a study of experiences and social conditions of female contingent, through a gender approach. Sought to contribute to the production of knowledge in the area of social work on the issue of the homeless population in gender perspective. Guided by critical dialectical method, which it is a theoretical framework that enables the approach to reality aggregating the historicity categories, contradiction, totality and mediation in order to understand the phenomenon, since these are categories inherent in the study. It is understood that little quantity existence of studies that address the relationship genre / street show how this aspect is neglected, in spite of the advances made in recent decades in the female approach in expanding public policies to face the rualização processes. It is important to note that the discussion on gender does not include only the woman, but within the limits of a master's research, with limited time for its development, it was decided to seek to unveil the aspects that are transverse to the woman - street binomial, especially the womans on the streets of Porto Alegre city.

Full textThis dissertation starts with the tensions involved in the removal of the street market in downtown Porto Alegre/RS and its relocation to a popular mall. The “camelódromo”, as the building – which houses more than 800 stands of roughly four square meters – became known, was accomplished in record time thanks to a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the first of its kind in Porto Alegre and one of the first in Brazil. The dissertation relies on the ethnographic approach, based on a field insertion of more than three years, which allowed capturing the process in a diachronic perspective. The participant observation – plus other techniques such as interviews and surveys – had as its starting point a major group of vendors involved in the transition. This group, initially optimistic about the transition, was passed over in the race for the best spaces in the camelódromo, and reacted with a series of mobilizations. Several political institutions were called upon, such as the City Council, the Prosecutor, the City Hall, and the Participatory Budget, among others. This strategy proved itself ineffective, and resulted in the eviction of several defaulting tenants – including the main leader of the group – and the dissipation of the collective mobilization. However, the tensions didn’t cease, as the transition from the streets to the camelódromo was closely monitored by the company, which required a change in the commercial sensitivity, based on a pedagogization policy aimed to forge a new trader profile, essential to the economic success of the enterprise. New modalities of conflict arose from this strategy, because not all vendors reconverted themselves into the prototype designed by the PPP. The tensions around this process created a favorable environment for a research that tries to retrace ethnographically the connections between economics and politics, the objective and the subjective, the micro and the macro, the city and the citizens, the diversity of agents and agencies that characterize a given social and cultural setting.
