This study explored the correlations among nonverbal reasoning ability, creativity, and academic achievement in gifted minority children, 89 girls and 71 boys in Grades 1 through 8 in a program for gifted. A random half of students from all grade levels were tested at the beginning of the year and the remaining half after 7 mo. with Raven Progressive Matrices, Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, and the California Achievement Test. Pearson correlations reflected limited relations among these variables except for a significant positive value between creativity and reading achievement. Suggesti

Solving personal problems is a basic life skill. The goal is to achieve problem-solving competence in applying a variety of models, three of which are trial and error/reinforcement, linear/rational, and intuitive/creative. The focus in this article is on the intuitive creative model that deals with novel problematic situations. Conditions of readiness for solving problems with any model are accurate problem awareness and appraisal of the problem, an attitude of meeting a challenge, self-efficacy or confidence in one’s ability to solve problems, and an appropriate problem-solving set. AbstractThe effectiveness of imitating an autistic child's actions as a means for promoting social responsiveness and creative toy play was explored. Fifteen autistic children between the ages of 2 and 6 years and their mothers were assessed before and after a 2-week period during which they engaged in imitative play for 20 minutes per day. At the pre-intervention assessment, autistic children's gaze at mother's face was of longer duration, and their toy play was more creative during imitative play than during a free play session. At the post-intervention assessment, significant cumulative inc

Scores on a multidimensional scale of humor and a nonverbal indicator of creative ability for 86 adults indicate a significant positive association of creativity and a sense of humor. Adults who were classified as low on creativity scored significantly lower on the humor scale than adults classified as high on creativity. This result is congruent with previous research indicating a relationship between the two constructs.

Students’ ability to practice several thinking skills is one of the problems common in today’s learning. Therefore, this research aims to describe the improvement of students’ critical-creative thinking skills through a multivariate analysis of the experiment model and gender. The experiment models used in this research are the Multiple Skill Laboratory Activity Model (MSLAM) and Higher Order Thinking Laboratory (HOT Lab), with gender, considered as a factor influencing a successful learning process.
