AbstractUsing gender as the major line of difference, the paper examines the diversity within Islam in northern Mozambique, in which, despite strong historical ties to the Swahili world and waves of Islamic expansion, as well as attempts to establish and police an Islamic 'orthodoxy', matriliny continues to be one of the main cultural features. Concentrating on two coastal regions, Mozambique Island and Angoche, and on three urban zones of the modern provincial capital, Nampula City, the paper addresses the reasons for the endurance of matriliny, through historical processes that brought about different currents of Islam, and discusses the ways in which the colonial and post-colonial state, while attempting to control the often conflicting Islamic and African 'traditional' authorities, have contributed to the perpetuation of this conflict as well as to the endurance of matriliny.

Abstract:

No início de setembro de 1948, a Missão Antropológica de Moçambique (MAM) esteve em António Enes (atual Angoche). Nessa localidade, o chefe da MAM, Joaquim Rodrigues dos Santos Júnior, foi informado sobre a anomalia de um jovem. O interesse de Santos Júnior pelo caso do pequenino Atomane se inscreve numa teratologia colonial que deu azo para uma espetacularização científica dos corpos dos "indígenas". A anomalia de Atomane é apenas uma de várias outras registadas durante as campanhas das missões antropológicas a Guiné, Angola, São Tomé e Príncipe, Moçambique e Timor, realizadas entre 1936 e 1959. As fotografias do pequeno Atomane e outros materiais do espólio da MAM formam o corpus documental para a análise dos limites da comunicação intercultural em contexto colonial. A partir de novos aportes em cultura visual, faz-se uma leitura crítica de fotografias do arquivo colonial da MAM.

Abstract:

The highly diverse goatfish genus Upeneus (Mullidae) requires enhanced attention regarding the possible occurrence of undescribed species in insufficiently explored regions. This study focuses on the South-Western Indian Ocean region (SWIO), and on the so-called japonicus-group, a taxonomic species group of Upeneus. Based on in-situ observations and collections in Sodwana Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the Floros goatfish, U. floros n. sp., is described. Detailed comparative studies of colour patterns and morphological characters of all other 13 japonicus-group species were undertaken as well as COI barcoding. The new species occurs in the coastal area between Angoche, N Mozambique and KwaZulu-Natal and partly overlaps in distribution with two similar species, U. guttatus, widely distributed in the Indo-W Pacific, and U. saiab, assumed to be endemic in a small area off Angoche. Two additional japonicus-group species occurring in the SWIO, U. seychellensis from the Seychelles Bank and U. pori from the Mediterranean Sea (as Lessepsian migrant), Northern Red Sea and Madagascar, were also compared. Because specimens as well as in-situ photographs of U. floros have been erroneously identified as either U. guttatus or U. pori during previous studies, updated taxonomic accounts and diagnoses are provided for these species taking size-related and population differences into account. For U. pori, of which a single preserved specimen from SW Madagascar was known so far, a new record from NE Madagascar is reported based on three specimens and a fresh-colour photo. Upeneus floros can be distinguished from U. guttatus and U. pori by a combination of three characters: head length, first dorsal-fin height and number of gill rakers. Upeneus guttatus can be distinguished from the other two species by disproportionally higher anterior dorsal-fin spines vs. a proportional decrease of dorsal-fin spines in height, barbels mostly yellow vs. white or creamy-white, and slightly fewer pectoral-fin rays. COI barcoding detected a clear distinction between U. guttatus and U. floros and U. pori, respectively, but no significant divergence between the two latter species. COI barcoding also failed to differentiate several other Upeneus species which are clearly distinguished morphologically. Possible interrelationships between species distribution patterns and physical oceanography are discussed. An identification key for the 22 WIO Upeneus species is provided.

Abstract:

Abstract The aim of the current study was to determine the length-weight relationship (LWR) and length-length relationship (LLR) with condition factor (K) values for Oxynoemacheilus angorae from the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams in Ordu, Turkey. A total of 65 fish specimens, which were caught with electrofishing gear, were examined. Fish standard length (SL), fork length (FL), total length (TL), and body weight (W) were determined. There were no statistical differences between the measurements of male and female O. angorae specimens; therefore, the female and male specimens were evaluated together in the current study. The LWR equation and determination coefficient of O. angorae were W = 0.014 TL2.7359 (r2 = 0.9659). The 95% confidence interval of the b value for the O. angorae specimens from the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams was 2.7261 to 2.7435. In the present study, it was determined that O. angorae specimens showed negative allometric growth. Calculations of O. angorae TL-SL, TL-FL, and FL-SL relationship equations and determination coefficients were as follows: TL = 0.2091+1.1646 SL, (r2 = 0.986); TL = 0.1341+1.0301 FL (r2 = 0.9914); and FL = 0.0998+1.1261 SL, (r2 = 0.9868), respectively. A new maximum total length was recorded for O. angorae in this study. The average condition factor value of O. angorae was 0.9954. This value could have indicated that this species was encountering some problems in this habitat. The O. angorae parameters determined were the first data reported for the Perşembe Plateau meandering streams in Ordu, Turkey (Middle Black Sea Region).

У статті крізь призму літературознавства проаналізовано репортажі Еви Вінницької «Angole», опубліковані 2014 р. Основну увагу при- ділено проблемі інтеграції польських емігрантів у Великій Британії. Також у статті частково заторкнуто проблему пошуку емігрантської ідентичності, з якою змушене зіткнутися покоління емігрантів, котре виїхало з Польщі після вступу держави до Європейського Союзу. Авторка у репортажах робить спробу представити емігранта як чужого, нетутешнього, який прагне увірватися у незнайомий, чужий йому світ. У статті видається доцільним проаналізувати проблеми, з якими стикається емігрант, задля швидкої адап- тації та інтеграції в країні поселення. У дослідженні розглянуто теоретичні аспекти поняття «інтеграція», тематичні межі міграційної літератури, на основі літературознавчого аналізу описано процеси інтеграції молодих поль- ських емігрантів у Великобританії, що, безумовно, впливає на формування почуття національної ідентичності. На основі інтерв’ю Ева Вінницька описує різні історії польських емігрантів, які проживають у Великобританії. Після виїзду за кордон усі герої змушені змінювати свою професію, спосіб мислення, спосіб життя, стиль поведінки, а отже, трансформувати власну ідентич- ність. Оповідачі в аналізованих репортажах – пригноблені емігранти, котрі за основну ціль життя вибирають завоювання нової країни задля того, щоб стати «колонізатором» Західної Європи. Доведено також, що почуття іден- тичності у емігрантів тісно пов’язане з процесами інтеграції та адаптації, котрі мають за підґрунтя щоденний вибір шляхів розпізнавання важливих для емігранта цінностей. Шукати, приховувати, трансформувати, пристосову- ватися, тобто створювати концепцію нового життя – це складники побу- дови нової, іншої ідентичності емігранта. Нова соціальна роль (яка може бути вимушеною, необхідною чи добровільно здійсненою) поступово веде емігранта до переорієнтації способу життя, до омріяного відчуття – бути своїм серед чужих.

AbstractThe systematics and external morphology of the southern African family Prototheoridae are reviewed. A single genus, Prototheora, is recognized, with the former genus Metatheora synonymized. Eleven species are recognized, including five new species: angolae, biserrata, drackensbergae, geniculata, and merga. In addition, two possibly new species represented only by female specimens are described but not named. A key to the species of Prototheora is provided, as well as a preliminary analysis of their relationships. The family is considered to be one of the most basal lineages in the Hepialoidea and can be partially destinguished from related families by several plesiomorphic characters including the retention of three segmented maxillary palpi (plesiomorphic within Hepialoidea), simple antenna, generalized leg structure with a complete set of tibial spurs (0-2-4), and a single row of abdominal spines on A3-7 of the pupa. Possible synapomorphies involve the lateral sclerotization of the suspensorium and the extreme development of a conjugal process from sternum IX of the female which may lock into a conjugal pouch usually formed by the male trulleum and juxta. The family occurs predominantly within two highly divergent, South African floristic zones, the Capensis, or Fynbos dominated Cape Flora, and the southern Afromontane zone, characterized by mostly temperate, evergreen forests. Most species occur within the Capensis, and all but three (P. angolae from central Angola and P. drackensbergae and parachlora from Natal) are restricted to Cape Province, mostly in or south of the Cape Folded Belt mountain ranges. Their life history remains unknown.

Oxynoemacheilus isauricus, new species, from the Lakes Beyşehir and Suğla basins in Central Anatolia is distinguished from all other species of the O. angorae group by having a very slender caudal peduncle (its depth 2.2–2.6 times in its length). The new species is further distinguished by having a short head (head length 21–24% SL), and a midlateral series of irregularly shaped blotches on the flank. Oxynoemacheilus isauricus is also distinguished by a minimum K2P sequence divergence of 7.5% and 8.0% in the mtDNA-COI barcode region from O. eregliensis and O. atili, its closest relatives.

I cambiamenti che hanno travolto la coppia analitica sono stati diversi, hanno attivato dinamiche psichiche complesse, mobilitato fantasmatiche peculiari e sollecitato aspetti psicopatologici specifici di ciascun paziente. Dal timore del cambiamento di setting, alla speranza di man-tenimento di un legame, ancora più fondamentale in un momento criti-co simile, la priorità è stata preservare uno spazio di contenimento e di lavoro di angosce primitive esponenzialmente cresciute e condivise in maniera simmetrica anche con l'analista. Il contributo, attraverso una situazione clinica emblematica, descrive l'irrompere di aspetti esterni, legati all'emergenza, e di come essi abbiamo mobilitato aspetti interni del paziente, incidendo sul processo terapeutico già in corso.

Abstract:

In this study, length-weight relationship (LWR), length- length relationship (LLR) and condition factor (K) of Angora loach, Oxynoemacheilus angorae were determined. A total of 103 specimens were sampled from Kılıçözü Stream in 2014. The length and weight of specimens were ranged 3.5-9.8 cm and 0.38-6.58 g, respectively. Length-weight relationships for female, male and all samples were found as W= 0.01056.TL2.896 (r²= 0.923), W= 0.00963.TL2.940 (r²= 0.978) and W= 0.00987.TL2.929 (r²= 0.963), respectively. LWRs indicated an isometric growth in female, male and all samples. The values of Fulton’s condition factor (K) ranged from 0.699 to 1.246 for females and from 0.654 to 1.072 for males. All length-length relationships were statistically significant.

Abstract:

In questo articolo gli Autori presentano i risultati preliminari relativi a 20 pazienti con diagnosi di depressione post-partum. Di recente infatti, č stato avviato dalla UOS di Igiene Mentale delle Relazioni Affettive e del post-partum del Policlinico Umberto I di Roma, un progetto intervento sui disturbi dell'umore nel puerperio. I dati raccolti finora indicano la prevalenza di un disturbo di personalitŕ del cluster B e che la depressione post-partum si configura come una difficoltŕ nel processo di separazione-individuazione madre-bambino che appare isomorfa a una indifferenziazione dei partner dalla propria famiglia di origine. Sia a livello individuale materno che della coppia, l'evento nascita, in quanto riedizione di vissuti di antiche separazioni, viene sperimentata come fonte di angosce e di pericolo.

Abstract:

This study was conducted on the experimental site of the Faculty of Agriculture of Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey. Objective of the work is to study the culture of species Cajanus cajan while determining its applicability to the Sahel goat. Germination test was carried out in petri dishes. Experimental set-up consists of 360 pockets distributed in three blocks each containing four plots of which three plots received urea, three received the NPK, three others received the manure and in the end three were kept as controls. Time between the establishment of grain culture in petri dishes and first appearance of radicle is one day and the staggering of germination is four days. The emergence of seedlings was observed 7 days after sowing in pockets. The seeds have a germination rate of 67.14%. At the first harvest, biomass production is 78.84; 89.42 and 79.87kg / ha respectively for plants treated with urea, NPK 15-15-15 and for plants treated with manure. Production of control plants is 50.45 kg / ha. Species Cajanus cajan has a higher appetence rate (80%) compared to species Leuceuna lecocephala and Gliricidia sepium which have respectively 66.66 and 46.66%.

Il cinema e la psicoanalisi sono stati spesso oggetto di studio e di interesse reciproco sia da parte dei registi che degli psicoanalisti, ma cosa avvicina questi due ambiti? Il legame fra il cinema e la psicoanalisi sembra poter essere rintracciato fin dalla loro origine, intrecciato da eventi apparentemente accidentali, ma che sono in realtŕ riflesso ed espressione della matrice inconscia collettiva propria della societŕ a cavallo fra XIX e XX secolo. In un'ottica rovesciata, la nascita contestuale delle due discipline puň essere letta anche come il prodotto onirico di quella stessa societŕ che, attraversata dalle angosce belliche e dai mutamenti sociali, sembrava ormai pronta a ripensare se stessa a partire dal confronto con i suoi demoni nascosti. Abstract:

In designing a natural ventilation system for animal sheds it is necessary to assess the ventilation induced by thermal buoyancy and wind forces during different seasons and under different animal housing conditions. By applying analytical and experimental investigation a methodology was prepared to establish ventilation intensity caused by thermal buoyancy and wind and data were achieved on thermal buoyancy and wind values and their relationship. The innovation of the methodology can be described by the fact that a simple equation was formed to calculate the air speed in inlet and outlet openings, a mathematical expression of thermal buoyancy and wind ratio was achieved and the required inlet opening area to let in fresh air compared with the outlet opening area to let out polluted air was substantiated to ensure that all polluted air is removed through a rooftop open in winter. It was calculated that the average air speed in the rooftop outlet opening of a typical cold‐type cowshed is 1.3 m/s (when there is no wind, this speed decreases to 0.3 m/s), thermal buoyancy and wind ratio is 0.27 and in order to have all polluted air removed through the rooftop open in winter the inlet opening area in the walls must not exceed 40% of the rooftop opening area. The accuracy of the prepared methodology was tested under natural conditions of barn operation when the distance between air inlet openings and outlet openings was 6.5 m. During the investigation indoor and outdoor temperatures, air speed in the outlet and wind speed were measured. During the experiments the difference of indoor and outdoor temperatures varied from ‐2 to +16°C and air speed in the outlet ‐ from 1.2 to 1.9 m/s. The analytical results reflect the mean values of experimental data under natural conditions of operation rather accurately. The difference between the experimental and calculated air speed values in the outlet opening was insignificant and was within 0–8% range. Santrauka Projektuojant tvarto natūralaus vėdinimo sistemą, reikia įvertinti gravitacinės ir vėjo jėgos skirtingais metų laikais bei skirtingomis gyvulių laikymo sąlygomis sukeltą trauką. Taikant analizinius ir eksperimentinius tyrimus, sudaryta metodika gravitacinės ir vėjo traukos sukeltam vėdinimo intensyvumui nustatyti, gauti duomenys apie gravitacinės ir vėjo traukos reikšmes bei jų santykį. Metodika yra nauja. Sudaryta paprasta lygtis oro greičiui įėjimo ir šalinimo angose skaičiuoti, gauta gravitacinės ir vėjo traukos santykio matematinė išraiška, pagrįstas angų plotas, reikalingas šviežiam orui į patalpą įeiti. Šis plotas lyginamas su angų užterštam orui šalinti plotu, nes visas užterštas oras žiemą turi būti šalinamas per kraigo plyšį. Apskaičiuota, kad tipiškoje neapšiltintoje karvidėje vidutinis oro judėjimo greitis kraigo plyšyje – 1,3 m/s (kai vėjo nėra šis greitis sumažėja iki 0,3 m/s), gravitacinės ir vėjo traukos santykis – 0,27. Tam, kad žiemą visas šalinamas oras išeitų per kraigo plyšį, angų orui įeiti sienose plotas turi neviršyti 40 % kraigo plyšio ploto. Sudarytos metodikos tikslumas patikrintas tvarto natūralios eksploatacijos sąlygomis, kai atstumas tarp oro įėjimo angų ir šachtos viršaus – 6,5 m. Tiriant matuota patalpos ir lauko oro temperatūra, oro greitis šachtoje. Tyrimų metu patalpos ir lauko oro temperatūrų skirtumas kito nuo –2 °C iki +16 °C, o oro judėjimo greitis šachtoje – nuo 1,2 m/s iki 1,9 m/s. Analiziniai rezultatai pakankamai tiksliai atspindi eksperimentinių duomenų vidurkį tvarto natūralios eksploatacijos sąlygomis. Eksperimentinių ir apskaičiuotų oro judėjimo šalinimo angoje greičių reikšmių skirtumas buvo nežymus ir svyravo nuo 0 % iki 8 %. Резюме При проектировании системы воздухообмена здания необходимо учитывать воздухообмен, происходящий под действием тепловых избытков и ветра в разные сезоны года и при разных условиях содержания животных. В результате аналитических и зкспериментальных исследований разработана методика для расчета параметров системы воздухообмена животноводческого помещения, которая обеспечивает стабильную тягу. В методике приведены простые формулы для расчета скорости воздуха в приточных и вытяжных проемах, для определения рационального соотношения площади приточных и вытяжных проемов, для отдельного учета действия тепловых избытков и ветра на производительность системы воздухообмена. Согласно расчетам в типичном неутепленном коровнике шириной 21 м средняя скорость вытяжного воздуха в коньковой щели составляет 1,3 м/с (при отсутствии ветра – 0,3 м/с), соотношение гравитационной и ветровой тяги – 0,27. Для обеспечения стабильной тяги в холодный период года площадь приточных стеновых проемов должна составлять не более 40% площади конькового проема. Точность методики проверена в условиях натуральной эксплуатации животноводческого помещения, в котором расстояние между центрами приточных и вытяжных проемов равно 6,5 м. Во время исследований измерялась наружная и внутренняя температура воздуха, скорость движения воздуха в вытяжном проеме и скорость ветра. Температурный перепад между внутренним и наружным воздухом изменялся от –2 °С до +16 °С, а скорость движения воздуха в вытяжном проеме была 1,2–1,9 м/с. Разница между результатами расчета и экспериментальными данными не превышала 8%. Поэтому можно утверждать, что точность разработанной методики достаточна.

A systematic revision of the scale mites of the genus Pterygosoma (Acariformes: Pterygosomatidae) associated with agamas (Reptilia: Agamidae) was carried out based on type-material and numerous samples collected all over the world. For the natural species groups established in Fajfer (2019) diagnoses are presented. All Pterygosoma species are re-diagnosed or redescribed with simultaneous re-examination of host-parasite associations. Several taxonomic changes are implemented in the course of re-examination of the type series: seven subspecies of the genus Pterygosoma are elevated to species rank (with their former stem species in parentheses): P. aculeatum Lawrence, 1936 (agamae), P. angolae Jack, 1962 (melanum), P. capensis Jack, 1962 (melanum), P. longipalpae Lawrence, 1936 (melanum), P. orbicularis Jack, 1962 (spinosa) and P. pseudorbicularis Jack, 1962 (bibronii), P. problematica Jack, 1962 (fimbriata); four species are synonymized: Pterygosoma expansum Bertrand, Finkelman and Paperna, 2000 is synonymized with P. adramitana Jack, 1961 and consequently P. gladiator Bertrand, Finkelman and Paperna, 2000 with P. neumanni (Berlese, 1910), P. rhipidostichata Bertrand, Finkelman and Paperna, 2000 with P. mutabilis Jack, 1961 and P. livingstonei Bertrand and Modry, 2004 with P. circularis Jack, 1962; new hosts and distribution records are given for Pterygosoma neumanni (Berlese, 1910), P. bibronii Jack, 1962, P. longipalpae Lawrence, 1936, P. gracilipalpis and P. sinaita Jack, 1961. The protonymphs of Pterygosoma engai Fajfer, 2013, P. indare Fajfer, 2013, P. longipalpae Lawrence, 1936, and the deutonymph of P. transvaalense Lawrence, 1936 are described for the first time. A revision of leg chaetotaxy models i.e. coxae-trochanters I−IV and tarsi I−IV proposed by Jack (1964) is conducted and new species groups for Pterygosoma species are proposed. A key to all Pterygosoma species is provided. A full list of Pterygosoma species with their corrected host associations and distribution data is compiled.

Abstract:

This paper aims to analyse the problem of the gas–solid particle (SP) flow in the multichannel cyclone (three rings) with tangential inlet (KDG – equipment for separation of solid particles from gaseous fluid flow). It provides a review of experimental and theoretical papers that describe cyclones with a very complex swirling flow. The paper describes the experimental study and numerical modelling of the flow in the multichannel cyclone, the height of which is 0.72 m and the diameter – 0.50 m; with the height of the cylindrical part amounting to 0.29 m, the height of the conical part – 0.43 m, and the inlet area – 0.29×0.034 m2. The multi-functional measuring instrument Testo 400, intended for measuring the flow velocity in the inlet and outlet of the multichannel cyclone was used in experimental studies of the cyclone. Three-dimensional transport differential equations (Reynolds) for incompressible turbulent flow inside a cyclone are solved numerically using finite volume-based numerical method and turbulence models, namely the Standard k-ϵ model, the RNG k-ϵ model. According to results obtained during the experiments with quartz sand and quartz sand dust pollutants, the highest SP treatment efficiency as regards these pollutants, reaching 85.8-90.4%, was obtained. Modelling results obtained from the numerical tests with the inlet velocity of 6.27–10.78 m/s and, the flow rate of 0.111–0.190 m3/s have demonstrated a reasonable agreement with experimental and theoretical results. The average relative error was ± 4.3%. Santrauka Nagrinėjama dujų ir kietųjų dalelių aerodinamika daugiakanaliame (trijų žiedų) išcentriniame ciklone-filtre (keturkanalis dulkių gaudytuvas – KDG). Srauto įtekėjimas tangentinis. Apžvelgti eksperimentiniai ir teoriniai procesų tokiuose ciklonuose, kuriuose susidaro ypač sudėtingas sūkurinis srautas, tyrimo darbai. Atliktas eksperimentinis tyrimas ir skaitinis oro srauto judėjimo KDG ciklone modeliavimas (ciklonas 0,72 m aukščio ir 0,50 m skersmens, cilindrinės dalies aukštis −0,29 m, kūginės (dulkių rinktuvo) −0,43 m, įtekėjimo angos plotas −0,29×0,034 m2). Ciklono eksperimentiniams tyrimams naudota Testo 400 daugiafunkcis matuoklis, skirtas oro srauto greičiui matuoti daugiakanalio ciklono įtekėjimo ir ištekėjimo angose. Pateiktosios pernašos trimatės diferencialinės lygtys (Reinoldso) atvejo, kai turbulentinis srautas ciklono viduje nespūdusis, skaitiškai spręstos baigtinių tūrių metodu, taikant standartinį k-ϵ, ir RNG k-ϵ turbulencijos modelius. Remiantis tyrimų rezultatais, didžiausiasis ciklono su kvarcinio smėlio ir kvarcinio smėlio dulkių teršalais valymo efektyvumas siekė 85,8–90,4%. Modeliavimo rezultatai, kai įtekėjimo greitis 6,27–10,78 m/s ir debitas −0,111–0,190 m3/s, atitinkamai neblogai sutapo su eksperimentų duomenimis. Vidutinė santykinė paklaida siekė ±4,3 proc.

AbstractTwo new Dactylogyrus spp., D. angorae and D. turcicus have been described from the gills of the endemic cyprinid fishes, Capoeta angorae and C. mauricii from the Anatolian Region of Turkey. The shape of the anchors, hooks and the copulation organ of both species differ from those of the Dactylogyrus spp. found on other Capoeta species known from the Ponto-Caspian and Tigris-Euphrates regions.
