A method has been developed for bromination of aromatic compounds in aqueous solution in an isoperibol calorimeter. The enthalpies of bromination of phenol to 2,4,6-tribromophenol and of aniline, 2-bromo-aniline, 4-bromoaniline and 2,4-dibromoaniline to 2,4,6-tribromo-aniline were measured using this method. These values were used to derive the standard enthalpies of formation of 2,4,6-tribromophenol, 2-bromoaniline, 4-bromoaniline, 2,4-dibromoaniline and 2,4,6-tribromo-aniline. A series of 31 sulfur-nitrogen donor ligands and 64 metal(II) complexes have been investigated. The thiomethylated aniline ligands 2–(methylthiomethyl)aniline 2MT and 2–(methylthio)aniline 2MA were synthesized with their substituted derivatives (-Me, -MeO, -Cl, -Br, -NO2) to serve as chelating agents. Reactions of fluorinated anilines with stoichiometric Ti(NMe2)4 in mesitylene (typically for 23 h at 120 °C) afforded moderate to high yields of the corresponding N,N-dimethyl-o-phenylenediamine derivatives resulting from defluoroamination of a fluorine atom ortho to the NH2 of the starting aniline. Reactivity increased with additional ring fluorination in general accordance with established regiochemical (activating and deactivating) trends. Apresentamos os resultados do estudo das não-linearidades ópticas de origem eletrônica de duas moléculas da classe dos oligômeros de anilina: o dímero e o tetrâmero. Foram medidas quatro concentrações de tetrâmero, puras e também dopadas em 33 e 100%; uma de dímero pura e outra dopada em 100%. As soluções foram preparadas usando dimetil-sulfóxido (DMSO) como solvente e a dopagem foi realizada com ácido clorídrico. Os espectros de absorção e emissão permitiram uma determinação aproximada dos níveis de energia do tetrâmero.
