Abstract:

Anne Sexton Met Her Psychiatrist, Martin Orne, in 1956, After Her Second Suicide Attempt. They Started Recording Their twice- (sometimes thrice-)weekly therapy sessions in early 1961, continuing until 1964, and Orne advised Sexton to listen to these recordings and write down her responses while listening and later relistening to them. Several hundred recordings of these therapy sessions have survived and reside in the Sexton collection at the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, and Sexton's responses have been preserved in four handwritten and typed journals, dating from January 1961 to August 1964, held at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin. Arguably, playing the sessions back to herself shaped Sexton's memories, her evolving understanding of her past, and her sense of identity. The extant ensemble of texts, comprising the audio recordings, typed and handwritten journal entries, and poetry, illustrate how playback influenced this evolution.

Abstract:

In 1991, Diane Wood Middlebrook, a professor of English at Stanford University, published a biography of the poet Anne Sexton in which, among other things, she used as source material some 300 tapes of Sexton's psychotherapeutic sessions with her psychiatrist, Dr. Martin Orne. After some years of reluctance and with the concurrence of Sexton's daughter and literary executor, Linda Gray Sexton, Orne released the tapes to Professor Middlebrook. Middlebrook's picture of Sexton drew heavily on the tapes, supplemented by scrapbooks, letters, photos, clippings, unpublished poems, and hospital records.

Abstract:

When diane middlebrook began the research for her biography of anne sexton (1928–74), she interviewed maxine kumin twice. Kumin and Sexton had been great friends and collaborators, and Kumin wrote the introduction to Sexton's Complete Poems (1981). The excerpt below is based on Middlebrook's typed transcript of a recording of a conversation that took place in Kumin's home on 9 October 1980. I abridged the transcript and submitted it to Kumin for her approval. The ellipses are part of the transcript, but the bracketed interpolations are mine. The complete interviews Middlebrook conducted for Anne Sexton: A Biography will be deposited in the Feminist Theory Archives of the Pembroke Center at Brown University.

Abstract:

By using rigorous conventional structure in her early work Anne Sexton was able to successfully contain some of her severe psychological instabilities stemming from childhood in poetic form. Sexton's artistic direction underwent a sharp change midway into her poetic career after she wrote the volume Transformations, a collection of story-poems based on narratives from the Grimm fairy tales. In this collection, Sexton took on the external persona of a witch, and with her new voice, she was boldly able to re-tell her version of the Grimm tales. The new persona enabled Sexton to shed her previous voice of passivity, and instead criticize humanity by using satire and humor. Unfortunately, this movement in her work was an exercise in self-exploitation as the larger, cultural arena of Grimm put off any chance of working out her private problems. After Transformations Sexton had come to the realization of her self-exploitation and decided to even further separate herself from humanity by continuing to work with even more generalized, cultural forms--a movement that ultimately led her to mythologize her own death.

Resumo: Numa tentativa de compreensão do fenômeno literário conhecido como POESIA CONFESSIONAL, esta dissertação tem por objetivo estudar a obra da poeta Anne Sexton (1928 - 1974). O exame de um dos rumos que a poesia norteamericana tomou desde 1945 serve como ponto de partida e pretexto para uma análise crítica sistemática que resulta na elaboração de uma antologia traduzida e comentada de poemas de Sexton, tida como uma das mais representativas figuras da poesia dos EUA no século XX.
Abstract: In order to understand the literary phenomenon known as Confessional Poetry, this dissertation examines the work of Anne Sexton (1928-1974), regarded as one of the most representative American poets of the second half of the twentieth century. The exploration of this vein or sub-genre, one of the directions taken by the American poetry since 1945, serves as a starting point and pretext for a systematic critical analysis of Sexton's work, resulting in an annotated anthology of translations of her poems.

Abstract:

This thesis constitutes the first sustained attempt to situate the poetry of Anne Sexton in relation to postwar. American' politics. While there has been a recent resurgence of academic interest in the politics of mid-century confessional literature, the current crop of poetry scholarship throws focus on the work of Robert Lowell, John Berryman, and Sylvia Plath, and has hitherto neglected to examine the ways in which Sexton's creative praxis might be productively re-examined alongside contemporary critical theory and postwar political history. In the following chapters, I interrogate the received status of Sexton's poetry as psychic theatre and, demonstrate the terms-of its political engagement through a detailed analysis of its referential framework, which is, I argue, structured around key crises in postwar American history: the legacy of the Holocaust; the Cold War; the Vietnam conflict, and the rise of feminism. More explicitly, I explain how these historical paroxysms are registered in the metrical arrangements of Sexton's poems. Through reference to the work of Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, and Cathy Caruth, I locate her writing within the psychoanalytic discourse of trauma, in which the traumatic event - though not perceived fully at the time of its occurrence - is unconsciously re-experienced, or `acted-out', through the repetitive, compulsive, and automatic mechanisms of the subject's speech and behaviour. My thesis thus positions Sexton's poetry as a mode of acting-out, in which the socio-political upheavals of the twentieth century are not only expressed in directly referential terms, but are also woven into the formal fabric of the poetry itself. In addition, the following chapters show how the political lineaments of Sexton's poetry might be usefully illuminated through reference to the Cold War ideology of `containment' and the interlocking, if vexed, economies of privacy, conformity, and contamination.

Poets are able to express symbols in words by way of what C. G. Jung called "archetypes". This is an investigation of the feasibility that poets who wrote independently worldwide, were able to use the same imagery in their poetry without being able to copy it from each other. There are several similarities between the poets discussed. In the first place they lost a parent when they were still children. Secondly they all committed suicide and (thirdly) they were excellent poets. Their lives were characterised by a search for something they believed they could only find in death. These there issues could almost be put into a mathematical formula where [loss of significant other] + [artistic ability] = depression & suicidality/certain poetic elements (e.g. the use of "ek"/"I"). The focus of the study is the symbolism in the discussed poems, especially water, stone and moon imagery, and Jungian theories are used to explain these. Biographical information is also used to gain a better understanding of the poetry. Ingrid Jonker, Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton's poetry is initially analysed (as well as that of Eugène N. Marais and Sara Teasdale). Later more poets enter the discussion, such as Attila József, Cesare Pavese and Marina Tsvetaeva. The therapeutic value of writing poetry is investigated as well as the possibility of plagiarism, Antjie Krog's Die sterre sê 'tsau' enters the argument in order to substantiate Jung's hypotheses was well as to balance Stephen Watson's accusations of Krog. Finally the approach of this thesis gets a closer look.

Abstract:

A recent trend in the study of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath often dissociates Confessional poetry from the subject of the writer and her biography, claiming that the artist is in full control of her work and that her art does not have naïve mimetic qualities. However, this study proposes that subjective attributes, namely negativity and abjection, enable a powerful transformative dialectic. Specifically, it demonstrates that an emphasis on the subjective can help manifest the process of transgressing the law of One. The law of One asserts a patriarchal, monotheistic law as a social closed system and can be opposed to the bodily drives and its open dynamism. This project asserts that unique, creative voices are derived from that which is individual and personal and thus, readings of Confessional poetry are in fact best served by acknowledgment of the subjective. In order to stress the subject of the artist in Confessionalism, this study employed a psychoanalytical Kristevan approach. This enables consideration of the subject not only in terms of the straightforward narration of her life, but also in relation to her poetic language and the process of creativity where instinctual drives are at work. This study further applies a feminist reading to the subject’s poetic language and its ability to transgress the law, not necessarily in the political, macrocosmic sense of the word, but rather on the microcosmic, subjective level. Although Sexton and Plath possess similar biographies, their work does not have the same artistic value in terms of transformative capabilities. Transformation here signifies transgressing of the unity of the subject and of the authoritative father, the other within, who has prohibitive social and linguistic powers. Plath, Kristeva’s the “deadmost,” successfully confronts the unity of the law, releasing the death drive through anger. Moreover, Plath’s psychic borders are more fluid because of her ability to identify with the pre-Oedipal mother. This unsettling subject is identified by shifts in texts marked by renewal, transgression, and jouissance. Unlike Sexton, Plath is able to achieve transformation as she oscillates masochistically between the “inside” and the “outside” of her psychic borders, and between the symbolic and the semiotic. Furthermore, this enables Plath to develop the unique “Siren Voice of the Other.” In comparison, Sexton, the “dead/less,” evades any confrontation with the maternal and the performance of death in her poetry. Her case is further complicated by the discovery of a second mother. As a result, passivity becomes a main characteristic of her work. This passivity remains until the maternal abject bursts in her text and she reacts to this by performing cleansing rituals, and gravitating toward a symbolic father. Without the dynamism of transgression, Sexton’s work is heterogeneous but does not achieve ultimate transformation and jouissance. Confessional poetry, in this sense, takes on a new dimension. The life stories of the poets become important not for their pejorative, pathological aspects that focus on narrative mimesis, but rather for their manifestation as an aesthetic process. The subject of the writer becomes important as an aesthetic identity in the poems, which are rooted in real life. The main concern then becomes the aesthetic transformative dialectic between the semiotic and the symbolic in her work of art.

Abstract:

En la actualidad el uso masivo de redes sociales afecta de manera significativa a las comunidades educativas, especialmente a los estudiantes de los grados sexto a once, quienes se encuentran en etapas de la pubertad y la adolescencia, caracterizadas por una búsqueda importante de aceptación y reconocimiento y encuentran en este tipo de medios la forma más indicada para hacerlo. Se estima que la población colombiana que utiliza redes sociales es de aproximadamente 39 millones de personas, según datos del portal We Find You, de estos, el 6.1% son activos en redes sociales y se ubican en el segmento escolar de sexto a grado once de acuerdo con el portal Branch.com; este porcentaje ha sido fuertemente afectado por el aislamiento ocasionado por la pandemia, aumentando su proporción. Este trabajo propone el uso de algoritmos de procesamiento de lenguaje natural para estudiar las respuestas consignadas en un instrumento por parte de los estudiantes de bachillerato del Colegio Los Andes (Popayán), se buscó establecer la polaridad gramatical de sus comentarios para averiguar la afectación de los discentes ante el fenómeno de las redes sociales.

INTRODUCCIÓN: Existe evidencia científica sobre cómo la presencia de rasgos patológicos de personalidad predisponen al desarrollo de un trastorno por uso de sustancias, especialmente de la impulsividad como ocurre en el trastorno límite de personalidad, que también ha sido relacionada con mayores complicaciones psicopatológicas en pacientes adictos y por tanto, evolución clínica más tórpida. Además la presencia de otros síntomas como son la inestabilidad emocional, el sentimiento de vacío o bien, la búsqueda de emociones, hace que este trastorno sea especialmente prevalente en pacientes con adicciones con y sin sustancia. CASO CLÍNICO: Se trata de una mujer de 18 años que inicia seguimiento en Consulta Externa de Psiquiatría tras cumplir mayoría de edad, previamente antecedentes de seguimiento en Unidad Salud Mental Infanto-Juvenil con dos ingresos en Unidad de Hospitalización Breve por intentos autolíticos en contexto de problemática familiar intensa con difícil manejo de la situación en domicilio familiar. Se plantea abordaje desde Hospital de Día de Adultos, encontrándose pendiente su inclusión en este momento, así como inicio de abordaje conjunto con la Unidad de Conductas Adictivas ante consumo perjudicial de cannabis, e importante adicción a internet y nuevas tecnologías virtuales, con las que había alcanzado también un patrón de sexo compulsivo. RESULTADOS Y CONCLUSIONES: Ante la presencia de impulsividad, búsqueda de sensaciones e inestabilidad emocional, es altamente probable que pueda desarrollarse un patrón de comportamiento adictivo o compulsivo como tendría lugar en el trastorno límite de personalidad.

Para ello,se realiza un protocolo de valoración que incluye la entrevista de valoración psicopatologica(DSMV) y las escalas : de impulsividad (Barrat),de agresividad de (Burke),de calidad de vida (Woqol bref),de actitud ante la medicación (DAI),de Avd (RAI),de riesgo suicida (Plutchick),de riesgo de caídas(Downton),de funcionalidad(EEAG),y se valoran los hábitos de consumo(DAU). Con todos estos elementos y teniendo en cuenta la edad y sexo de los pacientes intentamos establecer el perfil tipo de paciente usuario del área de Rehabilitación activa de nuestro, servicio,mas adelante tras mediciones periódicas de todas estas variables estableceremos la influencia de la terapia de Rehabilitación en la mejoria o empeoramiento de nuestros pacientes. Abstract:

A violência contra a mulher é algo incompreensível diante a sociedade moderna, entretanto, foi disseminada durante muitas décadas. O feminicídio, por sua vez, é uma forma de assassinato que não constitui apenas um evento isolado e nem repentino ou inesperado; ao contrário, faz parte de um processo contínuo de violências, cujas raízes misóginas caracterizam o uso de violência extrema. O Feminicídio, termo relativamente novo na legislação e no âmbito jurídico, nomina assassinatos cometidos contra mulheres por razão de gênero; no Brasil, é uma qualificadora instituída em 2015 no art. 121 do Código Penal. É indispensável, que o sujeito passivo seja uma pessoa do sexo feminino - podendo ser tanto uma criança, como adulta ou inclusive idosa. Ante todos os aspectos analisados, é necessário enfatizar que existe uma distinção entre femicídio e feminicídio. Não obstante, é inevitável que seja feito um recorte para a situação atual de pandemia pela qual todo o mundo tem atravessado. Com a expansão do estudo e os debates constantes com a finalidade de elucidar a influência do machismo nesses casos de assassinato, a realidade caminha para um rumo diferente; porém, ainda nos dias de hoje tais fatos ainda ocorrem. Neste sentido, existem iniciativas por parte do Estado como maneira de intervenção, sendo a mais recente adotada pelo Governo Federal.,

Abstract:

Introdução: A tuberculose (TB) é uma doença ocasionada por bactérias do complexo Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MB) e transmitida, geralmente, por disseminação aérea de aerossóis gerados em pacientes com TB pulmonar infecciosa. Essa patologia registrou, em 2019, segundo a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), 10 milhões de novos casos no mundo, justificando, dessa forma, a relevância desse estudo. Objetivo: Compreender a prevalência dos casos notificados de tuberculose em adultos maiores de 20 anos no Brasil, assim como fatores relacionados a esse agravo de saúde, em um período de 5 anos. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, descritivo e analítico, comparativo dos dados do DataSUS tabnet referentes aos números relacionados aos casos notificados de tuberculose na população adulta maior de 20 anos, entre os anos 2017 e 2021. Resultados: A TB condiciona-se como uma questão significativa no que refere à saúde pública do País, principalmente relacionado ao componente adulto.No período analisado , o Brasil notificou 452332 casos de TB em maiores de 20 anos. O maior número de ocorrências concentra-se na região Sudeste, que soma 205012 casos. A título de comparação, a menor parcela de ocorrências é da região Centro-Oeste, com 21255 casos, seguida pela parte Norte totalizando 53180 casos, seguida da região Sul com 54762 ocorrências e a região Nordeste 118106, complementando essa ordem crescente, com um total de casos. Quanto ao perfil da população mais afetada, destaca-se a do sexo masculino com 317258 agravos, equivalente à 70,1% dos casos, e à raça parda com 222912 ocorrências. Conclusão: Diante disso, observa-se que a TB, embora apresente passíveis meios de prevenção e tratamento, permanece sendo um problema de saúde pública no país. Perante o exposto, evidencia-se que a TB é prevalente em individuos do sexo masculino e de raça parda , com maior incidência na região Sudeste do Brasil, computando cerca de 147.121 casos. Ante o exposto, conclui-se que torna-se necessária a inclusão de medidas que objetivem a redução da propagação da MB através da organização de serviços de saúde, promovendo educação em saúde e mobilização social frente ao combate dessa doença, a fim de reduzir a disseminação da doença.

Abstract:

Introdução: A leptospirose é uma zoonose de notificação compulsória, a qual é feita no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN). Objetivos: Analisar o perfil epidemiológico da leptospirose em Santa Catarina, no ano de 2020, por meio de inspeção ao banco de dados do Ministério da Saúde (DATASUS). Material e métodos: Foram analisadas as seguintes variáveis: sexo, idade, ocupação, local de residência e ocorrência, início dos sintomas e classificação final (cura /óbito). Resultados: No total, foram notificados 143 casos positivos de leptospirose, destes 125 foram confirmados laboratorialmente, 15 por critério clínico-epidemiológico e 3 com critério de confirmação não preenchido. Com relação a faixa etária, 56% dos acometidos estão entre 20 e 49 anos. No que concerne ao gênero, 91% são homens. Examinando os dados relativos à zona de infecção e residência dos pacientes, 42% dos casos ativeram origem em área urbana ou periurbana. Considerando o aparecimento dos primeiros sintomas, os meses de maior ocorrência da doença são janeiro e fevereiro, estando relacionado diretamente a elevação da precipitação pluviométrica, decorrente desta época do ano, propiciando, dessa forma, picos sazonais da enfermidade. Dos 143 casos positivos de leptospirose analisados, 123 evoluíram para cura, 3 para óbito e 17 não apresentam registro quanto a evolução. Sendo assim, apresentando uma letalidade de 2%, no período de estudo, inferior à média nacional que é de 10%. Conclusão: Constatou-se que a doença é preponderante em pessoa jovem, em idade laboral, sexo masculino, residente em área urbana. Se apresenta com maior ocorrência no verão, porém baixa letalidade. Ante o exposto, o sul do Brasil é considerado região endêmica para leptospirose, e Santa Catarina, tem apresentado números crescentes da enfermidade, o que demonstra a urgente necessidade de discutir estratégias voltadas a prevenção e controle desta zoonose. Este estudo apresentou informações relevantes sobre a leptospirose em Santa Catarina poderão ajudar na elaboração de políticas públicas que fortaleçam as medidas de prevenção desta doença no Estado. Existem diferenças entre os casos de leptospirose de Santa Catarina e do restante do país. Diante disso, políticas voltadas especificamente a realidade geográfica e econômica da região Sul do Brasil se faz necessário.

Abstract:

El desarrollo de proyectos integradores que involucran diversas áreas del conocimiento (ciencias básicas, componente básico y específico de ingeniería, ciencias humanas, investigación e idiomas) como estrategia formativa, se viene aplicando en la Facultad de Procesos Industriales durante los últimos tres años. Estas estrategias no son nuevas, y muchas IES y Universidades han incluido los proyectos integradores, proyectos interdisciplinarios, e inclusive proyectos con empresas, como estrategia pedagógica, didáctica, investigativa, de innovación y emprendimiento. Además del desarrollo de la apropiación teórico-práctica de conocimientos de distintas asignaturas de forma interrelacionada, los proyectos integradores buscan fortalecer las habilidades blandas (buena comunicación, gestión y habilidades de liderazgo) de estudiantes y docentes a lo largo del plan de estudios, así como el fomento del pensamiento emprendedor para dar soluciones a la industria y la comunidad. En el primer semestre del año 2019, se inició un proceso piloto con estudiantes y docentes de la carrera de ingeniería en procesos industriales por ciclos propedéuticos, específicamente en los semestres cuarto y quinto del ciclo técnico profesional, sexto y séptimo del ciclo tecnológico y octavo y noveno del ciclo de ingeniería, con el objetivo de mejorar las competencias generales, específicas y transversales en los estudiantes de la carrera a través de un trabajo en equipo en el cual deben desarrollar un proyecto con apoyo de los docentes de cada asignatura. Los temas generales que se han abordado históricamente en los proyectos integradores de cada semestre han sido: Sin fin Corona para IV, mecanismos para V, polímeros para VI, Procesos Metalúrgicos para VII, Alimentos para IX y Procesos Químicos para X semestre. Adicionalmente, los proyectos integradores evidencian los resultados de aprendizaje que alcanzan los estudiantes porque se aplican las competencias adquiridas en las asignaturas del plan de estudios y en otros espacios académicos que brinda la institución, como son formación en investigación, oportunidades en internacionalización y cursos de extensión. Por cada asignatura, los estudiantes deben entregar un producto, como puede ser un prototipo, planos, artículo, informe, video, entre otros donde se pueden evaluar los resultados de aprendizaje. Al final de semestre se realiza la socialización de los proyectos integradores, en la feria de la tecnología y la innovación. En este evento, los estudiantes presentan los resultados obtenidos ante invitados externos y profesores de otras Facultades de la Escuela. Se ha demostrado que este tipo de proyectos apoyan el aprendizaje activo y el trabajo colaborativo y son eficaces para dar respuesta a las necesidades actuales de la educación en ingeniería, especialmente cuando es complejo realizar cambios drásticos en el plan de estudios.

Descripción de los objetivos El Trastorno por uso de alcohol (TUA), produce alteraciones neurotóxicas en el Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC). La microglía modula la respuesta inmune e inflamatoria en el SNC a través de moléculas como el factor estimulante de colonias de granulocitos (G-CSF), que podrían ser empleadas como potenciales marcadores biológicos de daño producido por el consumo de alcohol. El objetivo es evaluar la asociación entre los niveles plasmáticos de G-CSF y la depresión, como trastorno más prevalentes de esta población. Material y método Se evaluaron clínicamente 46 pacientes TUA en abstinencia y se compararon con un grupo control de 46 sujetos. Mediante ELISAs, se cuantificaron la concentración plasmática de G-CSF y se realizaron análisis de covarianza (ANCOVAS). Resultado y conclusiones Un 43% de los pacientes TUA evaluados tenían comorbilidad con trastornos del estado de ánimo (TEA) (35%). Se encontraron diferencias en las prevalencias de consumo de sustancias entre hombres y mujeres (35% de los hombres consume cocaína). Respecto a los niveles de G-CSF, aparecen diferencias entre el grupo TUA y el control (p=0.007), así como diferencias debidas al género. En los pacientes con TUA hay relación entre el descenso de los niveles de G-CSF y el diagnóstico de TEA. Las concentraciones de C-CSF correlacionan con la edad. Hay una desregulación de las concentraciones plasmáticas de G-CSF en los TUA y trastornos TEA comórbidos. Se debe estudiar el papel neuroprotector del G-CSF ante la pérdida neuronal de los TUA. La inhibición de los niveles de G-CSF en las mujeres con TUA abre una puerta hacia el estudio de nuevas dianas terapéuticas. Investigar el papel de moléculas como el G-CSF en los TUA.

A partir del incremento de uso de metanfetamina (denominada localmente como “cristal”) por vía fumada, inyectada, esnifada y/o rectal en la Ciudad de México, y cuyos usuarios se autodenominan coloquialmente como “dulceros”, se presenta el reporte de resultados del programa de Reducción de Riesgos y Daños en Clínica Especializada Condesa. En un primer momento se describe el proceso de elaboración de la guía “Secretos de oficio del dulcerx” que tiene por objetivo captar población de hombres que tienen sexo con hombres que mantienen relaciones sexuales bajo el efecto de metanfetamina, ácido gamma-hidroxibutírico (GHB), ketamina, poppers, estimulantes para la erección, entre otras, la cual está sustentada en una postura enfocada en la reducción de riesgos y daños y ha sido distribuída tanto de manera digital como en sitios de encuentro. En un segundo momento se describe el trabajo colaborativo de pares y organizaciones de la sociedad civil en la difusión e implementación de estrategias descritas en la guía adaptadas para la población mexicana encaminadas a la reducción de riesgos y daños ante el uso de sustancias, así como la reducción de la transmisión de Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH), Virus de Hepatitis B (VHB), Virus de Hepatitis C (VHC), Sífilis y otras Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual (ITS). Por último, se describe el funcionamiento del programa de Reducción de Riesgos y Daños en Clínica Especializada Condesa de la Ciudad de México, en el que se contemplan nueve intervenciones diferentes: a) capacitación para el consumo, b) psicoeducación, c) vacunación, d) pruebas de detección y tratamiento para VIH, VHB, VHC, ITS, e) profilaxis pre y post-exposición, f) deshabituación y sustitución de sustancias, g) recolección segura de parafernalia y, h) entrega de kits de reducción de riesgos y daños, i) intervención psicológica.

Abstract:

Objetivos: La Enfermedad de Marchiafava Bignami es una condición rara, que se caracteriza por la desmielinización del cuerpo calloso y cuyo origen puede ser tóxico o carencial. Se describen síntomas variados: demencia, alteración de la atención, dificultad para la marcha, disartria y síndrome de desconexión interhemisférica; su curso clínico es variable, siendo siempre una enfermedad grave y con pronóstico reservado. Objetivo: describir un caso clínico atendido en el Centro Asistencial San Juan de Dios de Palencia, a partir del cual se realizó un revisión sistemática de la bibliografía en PubMed respecto a la presencia de síntomas neuropsiquiátricos en la Enfermedad de MB. Materiales y métodos: Paciente de 43 años de edad, de sexo femenino, con diagnóstico de Trastorno Límite de Personalidad, alteraciones comportamentales graves y abuso de alcohol de 15 años de evolución, que inicia con síntomas neurocognitivos en el año 2013 con evolución y empeoramiento progresivo de los mismos. Presento pérdida de valores preventivos, así como fallas en el autocuidado, disartria y ataxia, acompañado por intensa inquietud psicomotriz. Se detectaron fallas mnésicas y anosognosia. Ante la sospecha se le realiza RMN de cerebro donde se describen las lesiones características de esta enfermedad. Ingresa en el Centro en abril de 2021, donde se observa empeoramiento de la sintomatología neurocognitiva y comportamental, como parte de progresión de la enfermedad. Se realizo revisión de la bibliografía publicada de síntomas neuropsiquiátricos asociados a la Enfermedad de MB (PubMed) Resultados y conclusiones: La enfermedad de Marchiafava Bignami presenta una gran variedad de signos y síntomas neurológicos, siendo la desconexión un punto cardinal para la sospecha clínica de esta patología, así como la importancia de los antecedentes de alcoholismo, desnutrición y otras comorbilidades con síntomas neuropsiquiátricos, que deben orientar al clínico, quien ayudado de estudios de neuroimagen permitirán el diagnóstico y tratamiento oportuno.
