Abstract:
<span>This paper depicts the design of Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) comprising of dipoles using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). It has been observed that with the change of the dimensions and periodicity of FSS, the resonating frequency of the FSS changes. This change in resonating frequency has been studied and investigated using simulation software. The simulated data were used to train the proposed ANN models. The trained ANN models are found to predict the FSS characteristics precisely with negligible error. Compared to traditional EM simulation softwares (like ANSOFT Designer), the proposed technique using ANN models is found to significantly reduce the FSS design complexity and computational time. The FSS simulations were made using ANSOFT Designer v2 software and the neural network was designed using MATLAB software.</span>

In this paper, the design of a low noise voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for heart sensing applications is presented. It is designed using Ansoft Designer software to have a low level of phase noise, therefore a bipolar transistor is chosen. Many effects such as the behavior of large signals, the parasitic effects of packages, etc., are taken into account. Hence, through a nonlinear analysis, quite accurate simulation results are provided.

Abstract:
In this paper, a low phase noise hybrid integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) module with harmonic suppression based on LTCC technology is presented. This is the first report about the hybrid integrated VCO module based on the LTCC substrate in china mainland. The design is simulated and optimized by the ansoft designer and the ansoft HFSS software. To miniaturize the VCO module, two capacitors and an inductor that adjust the oscillation frequency and two capacitors as feedback capacitors are buried in the LTCC substrate. Three resistances for direct current bias are made on the surface of the LTCC substrate. Also the low-pass filter that used for harmonic suppression is embedded in the LTCC substrate. The VCO module achieves an output power of more than 10 dBm in a tuning range between 1000-1200MHz. The measured phase noise is lower than -112.2 dBc/Hz at 10KHz offset between 1000-1200MHz. The overall dimension is as small as 8 mm×7 mm×3.5 mm.

In this work, microstrip antenna with W- and V-shaped radiating patches have been proposed. Here square- and circular-shaped modified ground planes have been designed by poly tetra fluoro ethylene (PTFE) substrate with dielectric constant 2.4. Broadband with high gain is obtained by optimum selection of radiating patch with modified ground plane. The ground planes are modified by loading a U-shaped slot. The simulated and measured results are compared. Considering −10 dB impedance bandwidth maximum frequency band of 6.97 GHz (3.04–10.01 GHz) with percentage bandwidth of 106.8% is achieved. The proposed antenna exhibits maximum peak gain of 5.1 dBi. The simulation and measurement have been done by Ansoft designer software and vector network analyzer.

Filters occupy important acts in several Radio Frequency microwave applications. Several applications such as wireless communications still challenge RF/microwave filters with strict requirements such as smaller size, higher performance, lighter weight, and lower cost. Microstrip Filters for RF/Microwave Applications offers a unique and comprehensive treatment of RF/microwave filters based on the microstrip structure. One of the most common methods in designing microwave filters is using of parallel-coupled microstrip. In this paper simulate and fabricate by using Ansoft Designer a two resonator microstrip band-pass filter suitable for Wi-Fi applications. The results of simulation were quite good.

Abstract:
The microstrip circuits are analyzed using the Gaussian Green’s function method (GGF) together with network analysis method. The main advantage of the GGF lies in its precision as well as rapid convergence. The multiport network analysis of microstrip circuits can effectively reduce the complexity of the modeling. A novel method is derived by combining of the multiport network analysis and GGF. To demonstrate the versatility of this method, the current distribution of two microstrip filter circuits is achieved by this method. The results are compared with the results of the commercial full-wave software of Ansoft Designer. It is shown that this method is much more accurate and valid.

In this paper, the effect of the substrate on wireless sensor network (WSN) node’s RF performance is studied experimentally by using different substrate materials with different thickness. A six-layer FR4 substrate PCB WSN node is fabricated and compared with the original two-layer FR4 PCB node to show the impact of substrate material thickness. Also different substrate dielectric constants’ impacts are studied by the same method. All these demonstrators are modeling by RF circuit analysis method and simulated in the Ansoft Designer software. Simulation results match the experimental measurement. An optimization method based on simulation for WSN node design with different substrate is presented. This analysis, modeling, simulation and optimization procedure can be carried out on some novel substrate materials such as LTCC and LCP.

Abstract:
The purpose of this work was to make a proposal for input parts of receiver for band 430 to 440 MHz. A model of chosen semiconductor triode BFP540 was created in simulation software. Possibilities how to decrease consumption of this semiconductor triode, keeping the profit, were investigated through the simulation. In compromise consumption, keeping the profit of the amplifier - an optimal operating point for this semiconductor triode UCE = 1,2 V and IC = 2 mA was found. It was tested through the testing wiring with noise microstrips conformity. Ascertained knowledge was used for construction of tuner for UHF receiver. An operating point of input amplifier of UHF receiver was owing to power supply amplifier forced for bigger effectiveness to UCE = 2,65 V and IC = 2,0 mA. Suppression of mirror frequency is provided with Helix filter of the third order, because of intermediate frequency 10,7 MHz. Mixing on intermediate frequency is made again by semiconductor triode BFP540. Selectivity of receiver is provided with intermediate frequency crystal filter 10,7 MHz with bandwidth 15 kHz. Designed input part enables reception of SSB, FM and digital types of modulation.Bandwidth intermediate frequency exit is adapted to this request To receive particular modulation , it is necessary to complete intermediate frequency signal way with appropriate intermediate frequency filter.

Abstract:
The dissertation thesis deals with a study of an influence of a simultaneous incidence of an additive thermal noise and a multiplicative phase noise on the useful signal transmission in narrowband satellite communication systems. While the additive thermal noise affects the useful signal only on the receiver side of the communication system, the multiplicative phase noise is produced in all system oscillators. One investigates how the receiver filter bandwidth reduction takes effect on the influence of individual noise types. The thesis is divided into four units. The first one (chapters 4 and 5) solves the ways of modeling of both noise types. In the second part (chapter 6), on the simple example, the primary analysis of the phase noise influence is made. Basic modulation schemes used in the satellite communication are also discussed (chapter 7). Third part (chapter 8) is devoted to the modeling of a general digital system with a M PSK modulation made directly on the main carrier wave. The last part (chapter 9) describes the modeling of a digital system with a BPSK modulation on the auxiliary subcarrier wave followed by an SSB modulation on the main carrier wave. General conclusions are deduced from obtained simulation results.

Abstract:
The micro-inductor is a key component in wireless power transmission micro modules. In this paper, an optimum design for the micro-inductor was studied and related MEMS fabrication techniques were also developed. Commercial electromagnetic property analysis software, ANSOFT, was used to screen the main design factors of the micro-inductor. It was found that the high inductance and high quality factors of the micro-inductor implied high power transmission efficiency for the micro-module’s wireless power transmission. The electrical performance of the micro-inductor was affected by the thermal stress and thermal strain induced in the operational environment of the wireless power transmission micro-module. In order to investigate the reliability of the micro-inductor, commercial stress analysis software, ANSYS, was used to calculate thermal stress and thermal strain. The deformed model of the micro-inductor was then imported into ANSOFT in order to calculate its electrical properties. Glass substrate Pyrex 7740 was used to reduce the substrate loss of the magnetic flux of the micro-inductor. The surface micromachining technique, a kind of MEMS processing, was chosen to fabricate the micro-inductor; the coil of the micro-inductor was electroplated with copper to reduce the series resistance. The minimum line width and line space of the coil were 20 μm and 20 μm respectively. Polyimide (PI) was used for supporting the structure of micro-inductors. The maximum shear stress was 74.09MPa and the maximum warpage was 2.197 μm at a thermal loading of 125°C. For the simulated data, the most suitable areas for 31-turn and 48-turn coils were at an area ratio of 1.27 and 2, respectively. The electrical properties of the inductors changed slightly under thermal loading.

Electrical ignition (spark ignition) is the mechanism that ignites the air-fuel mixture provided by the induction system of an internal combustion engine. SAE J973 NOV1999 is a test method that was designed and established by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This specification provides a test sequence along with the equipment that ensures the proper test for a spark delivery device. To have a mathematical model of the ignition coil to function per this SAE specification would be beneficial to the design engineer. This paper will discuss the operation and simulation of an ignition coil using MATLAB® Simulink® and Ansoft Maxwell® finite element analysis software. The aforementioned numerical packages are used to evaluate a coil design and how it would correlate to the SAE J973 prescribed by the SAE Ignition Systems Standards Committee. The coil that is simulated is of inductive type ignition. The simulation results show that accuracy within 10% to 15% from tested values is obtainable with lumped parameter elements using this modeling technique.

Abstract:
The pressure fluctuations in a centrifugal pump at both design and off-design points and the internal electromagnetic field of canned motor are presented in this paper. The 3D unsteady flow numerical simulation is completed at different operating points by using the FLUENT. A sliding mesh technique is applied to take into account the impeller-volute interaction. The FFT technology is adopted to process those dynamic pressure data to reveal the frequency features. All the power spectrum results present that the pressure fluctuation amplitude of blade suction side is greater than the one of blade pressure side. Some unknown high-frequency contents are discovered in the flow field. Meanwhile, the canned motor designed are applied by the design method of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The internal electromagnetic field of the motor is simulated with the ANSOFT software. Magnetic field analysis is carried out between two different magnetic circuit structure: U-type and inverted U-type. Comparing to U-type magnetic circuit structure, the latter is more conducive to reduce the magnetic flux leakage in the iron core tooth.

Abstract:
High voltage circuit breaker is an important interrupting device in a power system network. The operating mechanism is a key component of circuit breakers. The action of hydraulic operating mechanism in circuit breaker is different from general hydraulic mechanism for its high speed, short operating time and high pressure. In this paper, the working principle of hydraulic operating mechanism of 252kv high voltage circuit breaker is introduced. The high response speed solenoid pilot direction control valve is analyzed. The dynamic characteristic of the valve affects the performance of the hydraulic operating mechanism. Mathematical models of the valve and system have been developed. Simulations are carried out with AMESIM, hydraulic simulation software, and ANSOFT, electromagnetic simulation software. The characteristics of the operating mechanism control valve are discussed with the consideration of the influence of the geometry and environmental parameters. As the result of the research work, the simulation models and results provide the effectively theoretical guidance for the design and optimization of hydraulic operating mechanism.
