Abstract:
The purpose of the work is to develop a project of an information and reference system for finding answers to questions based on the highest degree of comparison using text content from open English- language web resources. Examples of such questions can be: “What is the best book ever?”, “What is the most popular IDE for Python”. The result of the functioning of the information and reference system is a ranked list of answers based on the frequency of appearance of each of the answer options. Also, a numerical characteristic of the probability of the preference of a particular answer over others is added to each element of the list. Based on this metric, the obtained results are ranked. This information and reference system works with questions to which there is no unequivocal answer, what differs it from classic information systems for finding answers to questions of the QA-system type. The latter have a hypothesis that there is only one true answer to the question, often such systems work with well-known facts. Examples of questions they answer can be, for example, the date of birth of a famous person, or the population of a certain country. Instead, the proposed information and reference system answers subjective questions, for example, “What is the best book in the fantasy genre?” or “What is the best programming language?”. The system is based on the popularity of one or another answer. Proper names based on the analysis of N-grams are also keywords for forming the answer to the question.

Journal of Umm Al-Qura University for Sharia'h Sciences and Islamic Studies, no. 91 (December 12, 2022): 21–34. http://dx.doi.org/10.54940/si91194763.

Abstract:
This research deals with the review of the exegesis of Surat “Al-Rahman” from the book “The Clear Answers to Hidden Questions in the Exegesis of the Quranic Verses” by the great Scholar: Ali bin Muhammad Alaa Al-Din Al-Masry, deceased in 1127 AH (1715 AD). The review of this book contributes to highlighting the legacy of this Scholar, who was characterized by creativity in classification, good presentation and writing, especially as this Scholar did not have a detailed biography discussion. Therefore, the review of his books gives a picture of his knowledge, through which it was found that he was expert in many sciences, especially exegesis. This review also sheds light on a type of literature of the eleventh century. The book manifest feeds the exegesis library with one of the precious books that is based on the question-and-answer approach in exegesis, which is a distinctive approach that enriches exegesis and develops reflection. The author was keen on inferring from the Quran, the Sunnah, and the sayings of the predecessors, and the Scholars, combining the methods of exegesis, so he interprets the verse with its counterparts, sometimes with hadith, and sometimes with the words of the commentators, and sometimes in Arabic language. His answers were equable and accurate and did not depart from the sayings of the scholars. Because he did not answer verbally, but rather he answered them after reading some of the works of exegesis, such as Al-Baghawi, and Al-Jalalain exegeses, and others. The author follows the transmission and did not attribute to himself one saying, rather, all of his answers were quoted from the Imams - may Allah the Almighty have mercy on them - with his attention to the seven readings, and their good guidance. Therefore, it is necessary to benefit from the author’s method in presenting the exegesis answer; as he explains the strange word, clarifies the rhetorical style, and the like, which raises the question, and arouses interest and draws contemplation.

Abstract:
Defining the stages which the reader follows when reading e-resources is one of several factors which can provide significant insights into actual reading behaviours and cognitive processes of readers. Two different samples of students who study in Libyan primary schools, aged 9 to 12, were selected to investigate how students use and interact with both print and digital school books, identify the e-reading process, outline the aims of using the internet and technology, and define what students like and dislike in both versions. Furthermore, students found using the e-textbook to be more difficult than paper book and a significant difference is found in the reading process between paper books and electronic books. In addition, two reading strategies were used to read school book in both versions (electronic and paper): (1) view the text then answer the questions, or (2) view the questions than search for the correct answers.

Abstract:
Open-book question answering is a subset of question answering (QA) tasks where the system aims to find answers in a given set of documents (open-book) and common knowledge about a topic. This article proposes a solution for answering natural language questions from a corpus of Amazon Web Services (AWS) technical documents with no domain-specific labeled data (zero-shot). These questions have a yes–no–none answer and a text answer which can be short (a few words) or long (a few sentences). We present a two-step, retriever–extractor architecture in which a retriever finds the right documents and an extractor finds the answers in the retrieved documents. To test our solution, we are introducing a new dataset for open-book QA based on real customer questions on AWS technical documentation. In this paper, we conducted experiments on several information retrieval systems and extractive language models, attempting to find the yes–no–none answers and text answers in the same pass. Our custom-built extractor model is created from a pretrained language model and fine-tuned on the the Stanford Question Answering Dataset—SQuAD and Natural Questions datasets. We were able to achieve 42% F1 and 39% exact match score (EM) end-to-end with no domain-specific training.

“But nowadays, instead of looking at books, people read them.” ∼George Bernard Shaw As a librarian, I am often asked about the imminent demise of the printed book. The question comes from all sorts: friends and family concerned about the viability of my chosen profession, bibliophiles worried about losing the books they love so much, and even the occasional stranger who wishes to provoke me into a passionate rant about the printed word. My answer, however, is always the same. Books will never go away. Though society will change and adapt to new technologies, the printed book will remain constant.

Abstract:
This process begins with preliminary activities that provide stimulus in advance for students to be proactive in learning that will be implemented and present some problems in life-related to learning material. Then proceed with the core activities beginning with observing such as asking students to read a reference book about mudaraba and also given the opportunity to observe some questions about what happened related to the material discussed and observe the slides that are displayed. Then the questioning process is carried out with the process of students to answer the pre-test given in the form of questions, then provide the opportunity for students to ask questions related to observations made previously about mudaraba and accommodate questions from them and give opportunity to each student or point randomly to answer a question from his friend. After observing and asking questions, it is continued by exploring some of the results carried out previously such as searching for answers to pre-test questions by reading some of the references contained in the teaching book or other book references, then in this activity collecting information from questions and answers conducted and completing it by reading the textbooks and other reference books related to syirkah material and a discussion on the problems obtained. At the core, activity ended with communicating inviting students to make a report on the results of discussions that have been done by presenting in front of the class and given a response from other groups and ending affirmation of the learning outcomes.

Abstract

There are various rules in hadith as uslub containing wisdom values. One of them is technique as'ilah wa ajwibah (tanya-jawab). The many varieties and forms of questioning in the hadith become a difficulty in understanding the content of hadith, for it is necessary to review the various hadiths of shahîh for dialogical communication, especially the technique of al-as`ilah wa al-ajwibah can be understood correctly. The hadiths al-as`ilah wa al-ajwibah in the book of Jami 'al-Shahih by Imam al-Bukhariy as the hadith book with the highest credibility order among other books of hadith if it could represent similar hadiths in various hadith books. With the understanding of textual and contextual hadiths it is found that sometimes the answers are broader than those asked and vice versa. As for various techniques al-as`ilah wa al-ajwibah done Rasulullah Saw ie; A. Straightforward answers to what is asked, b. Answers in the form of questions that do not require oral answers but enough to mean what they mean, c. The same answer from the same and repetitive questions, d. Different answers from the same questions, e. The answer is returned to God and His Apostle, f. Answers with body language (gesture), g. Answer in the form of a parable, h. Multilevel answers.

Adapun berbagai al-as`ilah wa al-ajwibah dilakukan Rasulullah Saw yaitu; A. Jawaban langsung atas apa yang diminta, b. Multilevel menjawab.

Springer.Bickhoff, Hollensen and Opresnik have posed the critical question again: What do marketers really need to know? The Quintessence of Marketing criticises the common view of marketing which places so much emphasis on sales and advertising whilst there is a wide array of activities that make marketing happen. The book is designed more or less like a handbook for the professional marketer. At the opening, the value of many management books are questioned in terms of volume and length. Thus this relatively short book on key issues and chal-lenges managers face in marketing is the answer according to the series editor.

Abstract:
Amtsilati is one of the Arabic grammar books which has special characteristics compared to other books. This book is intended so that students can master in reading and giving meaning to the yellow book even though it is only a beginner level. This book does not target students to be able to communicate using Arabic, because the method is only emphasizing reading and giving meaning to the yellow book. There are several learning methods that were applied when the Amtsilati instructor, including: lecture methode, question and answer, discussion, memorization, takrar (repeating material) and qiraah jama'iyah (reading collectively). The system of compiling the discussion material in the book Amtsilati begins with a discussion of the jar, isim dhamir, isim isyarah and so on. While the method of presenting the material follows the method of Tariqah al-istiqraiyah or the research method (inductive), that is by providing examples of material to be discussed, then analyzing the rules. Very different from the Arabic grammar books in general.

Abstract:
Newman’s “The Idea of the University” is the essential classic document in the history of Western higher education. All over the world, the educational thoughts of universities are closely related to Newman, and modern authors’ classic understanding of the university concept is derived from this Book. At that time, academia was in an era of ideological confrontation. Debates were mainly based on the two themes of “can other schools’ thoughts be used for reference” and “humanities or science.” Newman gave a clear answer to this in the book and made a corresponding detailed discussion. Newman’s answer embodies Newman’s educational thoughts, which are formed under the guidance of personal, educational philosophy. Therefore, Newman’s educational philosophy is contained in his educational thoughts. Based on this, Newman’s educational philosophy is explored from the educational thoughts contained in Newman’s answers to the above two topics. Newman’s educational philosophy is embodied in his views on schools and disciplines. For other sects, Newman is loyal to knowledge, regardless of sect, learns from each other’s strengths, and innovates. Newman firmly opposes blindly denying the views of the humanities.

Abstract:
Freakonomics is more about “entertainment” than it is a serious attempt at popularization. Consequently, rather than conduct a comprehensive fact check, I use the book as a springboard for a broader inquiry into social science research and take issue with the book's surprising premise that “Economics is a science with excellent tools for gaining answers but a serious shortage of interesting questions.” Using examples from Freakonomics, I argue that some of the questions the book addresses are “uninteresting” because it is impossible to even imagine what a good answer would look like. I conclude with some thoughts about the role of economic theory in generating interesting questions and/or answers.

Abstract:
When were mathematics books first written in North America? Some students who are asked that question will suggest that the settlers in Jamestown began writing mathematics books after they arrived in 1607. Others will think that North Americans started writing mathematics books right after signing the Declaration of Independence in 1776. A rare student indeed remembers that the Spanish American colonies were established much earlier than the English or French colonies. Few will guess anything close to the correct answer: the New World's first mathematics book, the Sumario Compendioso, was published in 1556 in Mexico City by Brother Juan Diez.

Abstract:
It seems that every year around “March Madness” time there is a flurry of new books about college basketball, and especially about basketball in North Carolina. How can you tell these books apart? Is there a book that covers all of North Carolina college basketball history? Which book on Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is the right one for your collection? Is one book on North Carolina State University’s 1983 national championship enough, or is there a reason to have more? Which books have lots of color photographs, and which have few or no pictures? How good are the coaching and management texts by North Carolina college basketball coaches? Which books should you recommend to a researcher of North Carolina sports? The aim of this bibliographic essay is to help librarians answer all these questions. I have reviewed every book on college basketball in North Carolina that I could find (special thanks to Orlando Penetrante, Loyola Marymount UniversityDocument Delivery supervisor, for his help in obtaining many of them).

Gravatt, Zachary, and Bruce Arroll. "What resources do Auckland general practitioners use for answering immediate clinical questions and for lifelong learning?" Journal of Primary Health Care 2, no. 2 (2010): 100. http://dx.doi.org/10.1071/hc10100.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION: General practitioners need to search for evidence to remain up-to-date with knowledge and to answer clinical questions that arise during consultations. In the past their main sources of information have been via colleagues and books. AIM: To determine the resources Auckland GPs use to answer clinical questions and to maintain lifelong learning. METHODS: One hundred questionnaires were mailed to Auckland GPs. There were 33 replies (33% response rate). From this sample 10 were chosen at random and all agreed to be interviewed (100% response rate). RESULTS: All participants were using Internet resources to obtain answers to clinical questions. Colleagues were also important for answering immediate questions, but not for future requirements. There is possibly less use of paper book resources. The websites were used to obtain knowledge now and for future need, while paper books were only used for answering immediate questions. DISCUSSION: The use of websites may be increasing in general practice for both immediate knowledge requirements and for lifelong learning. Colleagues are still a source of answers to immediate clinical questions, but textbooks may be less used. Empiric data are needed to monitor changes in answering clinical questions and the issue of lifelong learning requires more research. KEYWORDS: Education, medical, continuing; family practice; information management; information storage and retrieval; medical informatics; Internet

Abstract:
Riddle 74 is one of a handful of Old English riddles of the Exeter Book that have stubbornly resisted a solution. As Bruce Mitchell and Fred C. Robinson remark, ‘scholars have suggested answers…but none satisfies all the conditions set forth in the poem’. Peter Clemoes finds the attributes that are ascribed to this particular riddle-subject to be ‘so paradoxical that it seems impossible to name their possessor at all’. Riddles normally do have answers, however, and this one is no exception. My first aim in this article is to offer an answer to Riddle 74 that will put debate to rest as to its intended solution.
