Abstract:

An analysis of the mnemonic mechanisms at work in the narrative of the concentration camp experience, based on the case of Robert Antelme. This survivor of the Buchenwald camp gave a first spoken version of what was to become his major work, l’Espèce humaine (The Human Species), to his friend Dionys Mascolo. Mascolo’s testimony concerning the narrative that was told to him and his reception, some time later, of the written narrative (with the transition between the two versions marked by forgetting), question the notion of loss — in particular, the loss of a “0” text which is the text of death. This postulate allows us to explore the notion of the ineffable and to reveal its cultural implications; in other words, to approach the concept of survival as a narrative category.

Partindo do debate sobre os limites da linguagem diante da tragédia do extermínio nazista, pudemos constatar que a falta de respostas aos interrogativos sobre a Shoah é preenchida pelas tentativas da literatura de representar o evento gerando um discurso que inclua as lacunas, as impossibilidades, os paradoxos. As testemunhas deparam-se com dificuldades e aporias (entre as quais "o paradoxo de Levi" proposto por Agamben), vivenciam a "síndrome" do Velho Marinheiro, mas não são ouvidos ou atravessam as diversas décadas e fases históricas em silêncio até começar a contar sua experiência. Escritores como Primo Levi, Robert Antelme, Elie Wiesel, Jorge Semprún, Imre Kertész procuram o caminho da literatura onde o recurso da fabulação tenta superar as falhas da linguagem.

Resumo: A escritora Marguerite Duras (1914-1996) publicou, em 1985, A dor, livro que reúne uma série de textos elaborados a partir de anotações em cadernos e diários, incluindo texto homônimo ao livro. Nessa narrativa em específico, é possível reconhecer uma forte carga autobiográfica no relato da espera pelo marido feito prisioneiro durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tal acontecimento acometeu justamente a escritora na década de 1940, quando seu marido naquela época, Robert Antelme, fora levado pelas forças alemãs a campos de trabalho forçado e de extermínio. Posteriormente, os textos originais, isto é, os próprios cadernos de Duras, foram organizados e publicados em novo livro, intitulado Cadernos de guerra e outros textos, algo que possibilitou uma nova abordagem à sua leitura. Sendo assim, e tendo em vista essa última publicação em que constam os diários da escritora – algo que nos permite comparar um texto a partir de suportes distintos –, a intenção desse artigo é explorar os caminhos percorridos por Duras entre a versão registrada em seus diários e a versão publicada em livro. O objetivo principal é investigar como a ideia de escrita de si passa a ganhar ressignificações quando confrontada com um novo processo de ficcionalização e publicação da escrita autobiográfica, o qual chamaremos, enfim, de escrita literária de si. Para tanto, utilizaremos os estudos de Michel Foucault e Jacques Derrida para um embasamento teórico mais aprofundado sobre as noções que regem tal processo de escrita (e reescrita) de uma experiência pessoal.Palavras-chave: Marguerite Duras; escrita de si; literatura de testemunho; diários.Abstract: In 1985, the writer Marguerite Duras (1914-1996) published the book The pain, which gathers many texts based on notes from several notebooks and diaries including a homonymous story. In this specific narrative, it is possible to recognize a great number of autobiographical elements from the writer’s life while she tells the pain of waiting for a husband captured during the second world war. The same event happened to the writer during the 1940’s, when her husband at the time, Robert Antelme, was taken by the German army to fields of forced work and extermination. Lately, the original texts, that is, Duras’ notebooks themselves, were organized and published in a new book, something that changed the way we used to read the narrative “The pain”. Therefore, and considering the later publication of the text exactly as it was written in the writer’s diary, the intention of this article is to confront the original text and the final book version of it. The main purpose is to investigate how the idea of self-writing gains different meanings when it faces a new process of fictionalization and publicization of the autobiographical writing, named in this case as a literary self-writing. Studies from Michel Foucault and Jacques Derrida are going to be used as theoretical background on notions that guide the process of writing (and rewriting) a personal experience.Keywords: Marguerite Duras; Self-writing; Witness Literature; Diaries.

Abstract:At the landscape level, the four-horned antelope is confined to tropical dry deciduous forests and within these, their distribution is patchy. Various factors have been proposed as determinants for their patchy distribution within landscapes, but none provided an adequate explanation. We hypothesized that availability of a constant supply of forage influenced the species distribution. We found that the four-horned antelope mainly fed on fruits and flowers, and that a total of 60% of the tree species in Panna Tiger Reserve bore fruits at different times of the year. High tree species richness in habitat patches was considered a surrogate for constant supply of forage for the four-horned antelope. Data from 547 sighting locations between 2002 and 2006 and six spatial layers were analysed using maximum entropy to produce a probability distribution model for the four-horned antelope in Panna Tiger Reserve. Our model predicted that habitat patches summing up to only 9.5% of the 543 km2 of Panna Tiger Reserve had high probability of distribution (>0.5) of four-horned antelope. Although all variables contributed to the distribution model of the four-horned antelope, explanatory power was highest for tree species richness within habitat patches. The distribution of four-horned antelope within tropical dry deciduous forests can be treated as an indicator of high tree diversity and hence habitat quality.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar o melhor momento para a coleta do grão de pólen de Passiflora alata, com relação à sua maior viabilidade. Foram coletados 35 botões florais, 7 de cada horário de coleta (8h 40, um dia antes da antese, 8h 40, 10h 45 e 16h, no dia da antese e 8h 40, um dia após a antese). Os testes foram feitos por coloração e germinação in vitro. utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 5 tratamentos e 7 repetições, e as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Tukey, a 5% de probabilidade. O teste de viabilidade por coloração variou de 69,64 (no dia da antese, 16 horas) a 75,91% (um dia antes da antese). A porcentagem de germinação variou de 49,18 (24 horas após a antese) a 62,65% (no dia da antese, 10h 45). O melhor momento de coleta do pólen, com relação à melhor viabilidade e germinação, é 10h 45, no dia da antese.

Abstract:

Estudou-se o desenvolvimento do fruto da lichieira (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) 'Bengal'. Realizaram-se amostragens semanais, com início aos 35 dias após a antese e término no início da senescência dos frutos. A partir do 77º dia após a antese, os frutos foram decompostos em pericarpo, semente e arilo. A antese ocorreu na primeira semana de setembro. Foram ajustados modelos sigmoidais simples para acúmulo de matéria seca, comprimento e diâmetro. Para o acúmulo de matéria seca, uma fase inicial, de crescimento lento, prolongou-se até o 63º dia após a antese e coincidiu com um período de intensa queda natural de frutos. Do 63º ao 98º dia após a antese, houve uma fase de rápido acúmulo de matéria seca. Até o 77º dia, pericarpo e semente foram os principais responsáveis pelo acúmulo de matéria seca. Oitenta e oito por cento do comprimento e 65% do diâmetro máximos foram atingidos nesse período. Do 84º ao 98º dia após a antese, o desenvolvimento do fruto foi determinado basicamente pelo arilo. As dimensões e a matéria seca do fruto estabilizaram-se a partir do 98º dia após a antese. O ponto de colheita comercial dos frutos, caracterizado pela coloração avermelhada do pericarpo, ocorreu a partir do 112º dia após a antese. Verificou-se um quadro senescente nos frutos a partir do 119º dia após a antese.

Com o objetivo de avaliar a perda de N por plantas de Brachiaria decumbens no estádio da pós-antese relacionada com a umidade do solo, realizou-se um experimento em casa-de-vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com três tratamentos e seis repetições. Os tratamentos do estudo constaram da colheita de plantas nos seguintes estádios e condições de umidade do solo: (a) A60: estádio de antese e com umidade do solo mantida a 60% da capacidade máxima de retenção de água; (b) PA60: estádio de pós-antese ou maturidade com umidade do solo mantida a 60% da capacidade máxima de retenção de água; e (c) PA20: pós-antese com umidade estabelecida após a antese de 20% da capacidade máxima de retenção de água do solo. As plantas de Brachiaria decumbens, cultivadas em vasos preenchidos com solo arenoso, foram fertilizadas com sulfato de amônio-15N (800mg vaso-1 de N). As plantas dos tratamentos pós-antese (PA60 e PA20) foram colhidas após 17 dias do início do florescimento. O balanço de N do sulfato de amônio (15N) no sistema solo-planta indicou perdas de N, presumivelmente pela parte aérea das plantas de Brachiaria decumbens, no estádio de pós-antese (tratamento PA60), da ordem de 25% em relação ao de antese (A60). A perda de N na pós-antese avaliada no tratamento com déficit hídrico (PA20) foi reduzida comparativamente ao PA60, sendo da ordem de 11% em relação ao tratamento A60.

Die Behandlung eigener Anteile im Formwechsel ist bislang wenig beleuchtet worden. Dieser Beitrag geht der Frage nach, welche Implikationen sich aus dem Halten eigener Anteile im Rahmen des Formwechsels ergeben und inwieweit eigene Anteile im Anschluss an den Formwechsel vom formgewechselten Rechtsträger gehalten werden dürfen. Besonders wird dabei auf das Schicksal von Pfandrechten an eigenen Anteilen eingegangen, die infolge des Formwechsels erlöschen. Schließlich stellt sich auch die Frage, ob die aktienrechtlichen Mitteilungspflichten der §§ 20, 21 AktG anwendbar sind und welche Besonderheiten hierbei mit Blick auf eigene Aktien nach einem Formwechsel zu beachten sind.

Abstract:

The subtle and cascading effects (e.g., altered interspecific interactions) that anthropogenic stressors have on local ecological assemblages often go unnoticed but are concerning given their importance in ecosystem function. For example, elimination of buffalo from the Serengeti National Park is suggested to have driven increased abundance of smaller antelope as a result of release from competition. The perceived low abundance of small antelope in the contractual Postberg section of the West Coast National Park (the park) has been an ongoing management concern which has been anecdotally attributed to predation by a mesopredator (the caracal, Caracal caracal). However, we hypothesized that the historical overstocking, and consequent overgrazing by larger-bodied managed ungulates would influence small antelope abundance. Using camera traps, we investigated species co-occurrence and temporal activity between small antelope, managed ungulates and caracals in Postberg as well as another part of the park (Langebaan) and a farm outside of the park. Results suggest that small antelope and managed ungulates have a high degree of temporal overlap (Δ = 0.74, 0.79 and 0.86 for the farm, Langebaan and Postberg respectively), while temporal partitioning between small antelope and caracal is apparent (Δ = 0.59). Further, small antelope and managed ungulates appear to occur independently of one another (SIF = 0.91–1 across areas). Managed ungulates were detected almost three times more frequently on fallow lands when compared to the more vegetated sites within the park suggesting that segregated food/cover resources allow for independent occurrence. Small antelope had a much higher probability of occurrence outside of the protected area (e.g., ψ = 0.192 and 0.486 for steenbok at Postberg, Langebaan compared to 0.841 on the farm), likely due to less variable (more intact) habitat outside of the protected area. There is not sufficient evidence to currently warrant management intervention for predators. The small size of the protected area provides limited scope for spatial replication thus reducing possibilities to infer the cause and effect for complex interactions (which would historically have taken place over much larger areas) with negative implications for adaptive management. We recommend continued monitoring over multiple seasons and a wider area to determine the spatial information requirements to inform management of small protected areas.

Zusammenfassung. In einer Längsschnittstudie wurden unter Einsatz der Methode der Latent-State-Trait-Analyse die Konsistenzanteile, die messgelegenheitsspezifischen Anteile sowie die Anteile der Messfehler der Allgemeinen Depressions-Skala (ADS), des Beck-Depressionsinventars (BDI) sowie der “Self-Rating Depression Scale“ (SDS) bestimmt. 188 Probanden wurden im Abstand von vier Monaten zweimal befragt. Die Konsistenzkoeffizienten betragen .40 für die ADS, .49 für das BDI und .53 für die SDS. Die messgelegenheitsspezifischen Anteile belaufen sich für die ADS auf 40%, auf 22% für das BDI und auf 19% für die SDS. Diesen Ergebnissen zufolge erfasst die ADS dispositionelle Neigungen zur Depression, ist aber auch in der Lage, sensitiv auf situative Veränderungen zu reagieren. Das BDI weist höhere Trait-Anteile auf als die ADS und reagiert entsprechend weniger sensibel auf situative Veränderungen. Die SDS erfasst überwiegend dispositionelle Neigungen zur Depression. Die Ergebnisse betonen die Notwendigkeit einer Unterscheidung zwischen dispositionellen und zustandsbedingten Anteilen von Depressionen sowohl auf der konzeptionellen Ebene als auch auf der Erfassungs- und diagnostischen Ebene.

In this paper, Antelope Algorithm (AA) is proposed for solving optimal reactive power dispatch problem. A population of candidate solution move toward as a herd of Antelope out a sequence of jumps through the exploration space in order to find the most outstanding solution. The main idea of this algorithm is fairly different from the population based algorithms, as the individual solutions are stirred collectively in a herd-like approach. Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to show that two rheological parameters, red blood cell (RBC) sedimentation rate and apparent blood viscosity at low shear rate, characterizing the degree of RBC aggregation, correlate significantly with the maximal mass-specific rate of oxygen consumption or aerobic capacity (VO2max). Comparisons were made within two groups of similarly sized athletic and sedentary species: group 1, pronghorn antelope, dog, goat, and sheep; and group 2, horse and cow. The pronghorn antelope (Antilocapra americana) is one of the most athletic mammals, and we have obtained data on the rheological properties of blood from this species for the first time. The values of apparent viscosity at hematocrit = 40% and shear rate = 0.277 s-1 measured in a rotational viscometer were 59.5, 42.6, and 9.1 cP for antelope, dog, and sheep blood, respectively, and 55.3 and 11.5 cP for horse and cow blood, respectively. The viscosity values for antelope, dog, and sheep blood can be correlated with aerobic capacity: ln viscosity = 4.48–106.3 VO2(-1)max (r2 = 0.998; P < 0.05). The values of RBC sedimentation rate at hematocrit = 40% were 12.8, 7.0, and 0 mm/h for antelope, dog, and sheep blood, respectively, and 45.3 and 0.1 mm/h for horse and cow blood, respectively. Therefore, the data showed that the athletic species exhibit a consistently higher degree of RBC aggregation than do the corresponding nonathletic species.

O bacurizeiro (Platonia insignis Mart.) é uma frutífera nativa da Amazônia, que apresenta alogamia acentuada e autoincompatibilidade esporofítica. A viabilidade in vitro tem sido utilizada para representar a capacidade potencial do pólen em completar o processo de fertilização O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estudar a viabilidade de polens de bacurizeiro por meio da germinação in vitro , por ser esta uma técnica em que o comportamento germinativo é semelhante in vivo . Os ensaios foram conduzidos em laboratório, em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, analisados em esquema fatorial 2 x 3 x 4, em que: 2=formas de propagação (pé-franco e enxertada); 3=estágios da antese (pré-antese, antese e pós-antese), e 4=concentrações de sacarose (0; 7,5; 10 e 20%), com 10 repetições. Houve diferença significativa na germinação do pólen, sendo que, via polinização manual, o pólen deve ser coletado na antese, enquanto o melhor meio para a germinação in vitro é com 7,5 g de sacarose.
