This thesis evaluates two array antenna elements for large phased array antennas. The two antenna concepts are a surface mounted notch element and a PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna). The antennas have been simulated at S-band in Ansys HFSS as a unit cell in an infinite array environment. Thereafter, a finite 7 x 7 element array of the two concepts was simulated. A corresponding 49 element array, using the notch element, was built and measured upon. Embedded element patterns and S-matrix parameters have been measured. From this result, full array antenna patterns as well as active reflection co

Precise radiation pattern control for an array antenna requires precise control of array element excitations. One application is that of low side lobe patterns. Classical synthesis methods for the desired pattern may not be realized in practice due to coupling effects. Coupling occurs in two forms: the mutual coupling between array elements and the coupling introduced by the feed networks. Ideally one could account for such coupling within the array architecture during the design process and alter the feed network parameters to adjust for such coupling. Unfortunately, this is a nonlinear probl

Previous research has concentrated on the development of small broadband elements to meet the demands of broadband arrays. Several research efforts have focused on minimizing the mutual coupling to maintain the frequency response of the single isolated element. This dissertation focuses on using the strong coup

This antenna was modeled and simulated for desired dielectric substrate in CST STUDIO SUITE 2010 software. Feeding network with power dividers was designed for the antenna array. In order to obtain a higher gain

Its advantages have: small size, low losses, lightweight, and immunity to electromagnetic interferences. However, there have been several approaches for the beam-steering of a phased array antenna by using fiber grating technique. A typical approach is that a number of uniform fiber Bragg gratings written at different positions along fiber axis are used for

碩士
國立交通大學
電信工程研究所
107
This thesis proposes an improved cross-polarization of two-port quadri-polarization diversity antenna design with three main layers. The upper layer is the antenna radiation layer. The antenna can be freely switched to the left or right handed circular polarization with PIN diodes and is arranged to a sequential rotation array. The advantage is that the sequential rotation array formed by the circularly polarized antenna can not only increase the bandwidth can also achieve low axial ratio of circular polarization and higher gain. The middle layer is a monopole

Wideband, wide-scan active phased arrays (APA) are widely used for multi-function radars, communication and electronic warfare. Although considerable research is available on the design and analysis of such antenna elements and arrays with large aperture, multi-octave wide scan phased antenna arrays with an electronically small aperture finds major application in electronic warfare (EW), is not well-developed. Based on a detailed literature survey on ultrawideband antenna for the wideband APA this research began with investigating different designs of tapered slot antenna (TSA) elements. A s

These characteristic curves are often limiting in scope, as for instance they do not contain parametric curves giving the relationship between the boom-length 'L' and the number of dipole element 'N' for any given bandwidth, even when it is known that these two paramete
