India has a high prevalence of tuberculosis as well as diabetes mellitus, and both contribute to a major disease burden. Diabetes mellitus increases the risk of tuberculosis. Patients with diabetes are more prone to develop cavitary lesions than non-diabetics. Tuberculosis can worsen the glycemic status of an individual and anti-tuberculous drugs like Rifampicin can interact with oral anti-diabetic drugs, further worsening the glycemic control. This can result in complications related to diabetes, like diabetic amyotrophy. We hereby report the case of a 69-year-old gentleman with diabetes mell

Type 2 diabetes and obesity are two enormous epidemic diseases of the 21stcentury. Because obesity is a primary risk factor for type 2 diabetes development, patients with diabetes are frequently obese. This comorbidity makes it challenging for these patients to not only compensate diabetes but also bring their weight back to normal. Several anti-diabetic drugs cause weight gain, which augments insulin resistance, and thus demands anti-diabetic treatment intensification. For the treatment, it is crucial to find an anti-diabetic treatment drug that is efficient but does not cause weight gain. In

Diabetes is a life-long chronic disease that affects more than 24 million Americans. Loss of pancreatic beta-cell mass and function is central to the development of both type 1 (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Therefore, preservation or regeneration of functional beta-cell mass is one of the essential strategies to treat diabetes [1]. In my study, I tested if ranolazine, a synthetic compound, has potential to prevent or treat diabetes. Diabetes were induced in mice by giving multiple low-doses of streptozotocin (STZ). Ranolazine was given twice daily via an oral gavage (20 mg/kg) for 5 weeks.

Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes leads to macro and microvascular complications. An increase in the aldose reductase (ALR2) activity, accumulation of sorbitol, accumulation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), and inflammation lead to cellular damage, ultimately resulting in complications. ALR2 inhibition has been a consideration to treat/manage diabetic complications, but most of the ALR2 inhibitors are not free of side effects. As a part of our work to find better ALR2 inhibitors, we found that extracts of Gentiana lutea exhibited ALR2 inhibitory potential in vitro. We have also disco

Abstract:
Arginine vasopressin resistance (AVP-R) previously known as nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is a rare disorder characterised with large fluid output due to resistance to arginine vasopressin in kidneys. It can be caused by different etiologies, including hereditary causes. In diagnosis we must determine the reason for polyuria (vasopressin deficiency, resistance, or primary polydipsia). Treatment is mostly symptomatic with adequate water consumption in combination with low-salt and low-protein diet. The main drugs used to treat AVP-R are thiazide diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of different anti-diabetic drugs in the treatment of non-diabetic non-alcoholic disease by network meta-analysis, and find the best intervention. Condition being studied: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) refers to the disease in which the liver fat content exceeds 5%, and excludes the secondary causes of alcohol, infection, drugs or other specific metabolic diseases. As a spectrum of disorders, it includes hepatocyte steatosis and steatohepatitis at the initial stage, liver fibrosis at the later stage, cirrhosis at the final stage,
