Scale formation in the digester during kraft pulping represents a great problem in pulp mills. Scaling reduces pulping control and efficiency, increasing energy costs and leading to cleaning breakdowns, with subsequent losses in productivity. The kraft process promotes CaCO3 scaling due to high calcium ion and carbonate concentrations, as well as high alkalinity and temperature levels, which increase the speed with which liquors reach a state of supersaturation. Abstract:
Abstract Formation of mineral scale is one of the primary complications affecting production in the oil and gas industry. Soured reservoirs contain hydrogen sulfide (H2S) that can prompt the formation of exotic sulfide scales, leading to detrimental fouling that negatively affects the production of oil and gas. The mode of precipitation and deposition of lead sulfide (PbS) scale on a variety of anti-fouling surfaces for potential application in oilfield systems is examined in this paper. Previous sulfide scale work has reacted H2S derived from sodium sulfide (Na2S) with lead chloride (PbCl2) b

Abstract Several coatings have been applied to oilfield equipment to extend their lifespan by protecting against wear and corrosion. These coatings enhance surface hardness and improve frictional and corrosion characteristics. Additionally, some of these coatings help ensure flow by minimizing downhole scale buildup on completion tools during operation. In this respect, polymer-based low-friction coatings are preferred. However, their low hardness and wear resistance affect their full-life functionality against scale minimization. This paper investigates the enhancement of the tribological and

Abstract This paper presents the results of field tests utilizing state of the art anti-scale/corrosion resistant coatings to mitigate various waterside degradation processes. The corrosion and scaling degradation of shell-and-tube heat exchangers and corrosion of condensate return lines comes about through a variety of site specific mechanisms. These two components generally do not meet the expected design life due to premature failure by corrosion. The phenolic coatings were found to be extremely resistant to degradation due to hot water immersion and effective in stopping condensate corrosi
