Abstract:
Antihelmintics are the drugs used to eradicate or reside the number of helmintic parasites from intestinal tract or tissue of humans and other animals. The antihelmintic activity of Rauwolfia serpentina root extracts were evaluated separately on adult Indian earthworm (Pheretima posthuma). It was found that methanolic extract and aqueous extract of Rauwolfia serpentina showed antihelmintic activity at various concentration (50,100 and 200 mg/ml). The standard drug used was Albendazole (50, 100 and 200 mg/ml). The methanolic extract of Rauwolfia serpentina showed better result when compared to

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We will present a literature review of the vertebral location of hydatidosis. It is a rare, locally aggressive condition with a high recurrence rate that requires clinical treatment (antihelminthic drugs) and surgery, with decompression of the spinal canal. We report a case with more than 11 years of follow-up, which required surgical treatment on 4 occasions. Level of Evidence V; Therapeutic-investigational study of treatment results.

One of the most common nematodes of pigs globally is Strongyloides ransomi Schwartz and Alicata 1930. It usually causes aggravation of physiological indicators of its hosts and damage to their immune system. Also it is a good modelling object for the evaluation of the antiparasitic activity of new antihelminthic drugs. We conducted laboratory experiments to assess the effect of flavouring additives with flower odour (benzaldehyde, citral, D-limonene and β-ionone) upon the viability of S. ransomi larvae. The mortality rate was calculated for 24 hours exposure at four concentrations of each subs

Certain drugs are relatively insoluble in water and have high dose requirements that render unsuitable formulation difficulties in sustained release formulations. Nitazoxanide which is a high dose water insoluble antiprotozoal drug was formulated with the aim. To modulate gastro-retentive dosage form based on the superporous hydrogel composites. Foaming technique was used in the preparation of SPH composites. The superporous hydrogels were extremely

In order to increase the water solubility and biological activity of antihelminthics (medamin /BMC/, albendazole /ABZ/, fenbendazol /FBZ/) by the method of joint machining of their substances with polymers (PVP, arabinogalactan), solid dispersions (SD), which are easily flowing powders, were obtained. The analysis of solid dispersions of the “Drug: polymer” systems for solubility showed that this indicator depends on both the nature of the Drug and the Polymer. The possibility of increasing the water solubility of medamin by more than 50 times, albendazole by 27 times and fenbendazole by 24 ti

Lichens have recently received great attention due to their pharmacological potentials. The antigenotoxic potential of C. vitellina extract (25 and 50 µg/mL) was assessed in normal human peripheral blood lymphocytes (HPBL) against Mitomycin C (MMC) co-treatments. Flow cytometric analyses of cell cycle distribution, as well as apoptosis (Annexin V/PI), revealed that the extract had significantly (p ≤ 0.05) ameliorated the MMC toxicity by reducing the apoptotic cells and normalized the cell cycle phases. C. vitellina exhibited antigenotoxicity by ameliorating the diminished mitotic index and DNA

Introduction: Helminth infection has a profound effect on the immune system. However, the precise nature of the immune changes that are elicited by helminth infection have not been sufficiently characterized. Furthermore, the reversibility of these changes after treatment has not been documented sufficiently. We studied the immune profiles of Ethiopian immigrants to Israel at baseline, that is on arrival and at one-year follow-up and compared individuals who received antihelminthic treatment during the study period with those who missed the treatment. Methods: A longitudinal follow up study inv
