Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease due to insulin secretion disorders due to pancreatic cell damage. Puring plants (Codiaeum variegatum) in Indonesia are more identical as cemetery plants and garden decorations. The purpose of this study was to see the antihyperglycemic effect of croton leaf extract. This study was conducted by making croton leaf extract, phytochemical screening, and antihyperglycemia testing by observing the decrease in blood glucose levels in mice induced by alloxan. Metabolic disease that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion and insulin action is said to be diabetes or hyperglycemia. One alternative that can be used for hyperglycemia management is to use tekelan leaves (C. odorata L.). The leaves of this tekelan plant have low water solubility and high permeability. A liposome is a good carrier to increase the solubility and penetration of the compounds it carries. Diabecine reconstitute is a combination of well-known herbs such as Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Eugenia polyantha, Curcuma xanthorizza, Orthosiphon stamineus and Andrographis paniculata which are believed to give promising finding especially in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. However, no scientific studies have been performed to investigate its toxicological effect. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate its safety profile using sub-acute toxicity (14 days repeated doses) in rat model. Metabolic syndrome is known to engender type 2 diabetes as well as some cardiac, cerebrovascular, and kidney diseases. Mirtazapine—an atypical second-generation antipsychotic drug with less severe side effects than atypical first-generation antipsychotics—may have positive effects on blood glucose levels and obesity. In our executed study, we treated male high-fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6J mice with mirtazapine (10 mg/kg/day mirtazapine) for 4 weeks to understand its antiobesity effects. With aging, the kidney undergoes inexorable and progressive changes in structural and functional performance. These aging-related alterations are more obvious and serious in diabetes mellitus (DM). Renal accelerated aging under DM conditions is associated with multiple stresses such as accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), hypertension, oxidative stress, and inflammation. The main hallmarks of cellular senescence in diabetic kidneys include cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors, telomere shortening, and diabetic nephropathy-associated secretory phenotype.
