O Brasil continua entre os 30 países de alta carga para tuberculose no mundo sendo, portanto, considerado prioritário para o controle da doença no mundo pela Organização Mundial de Saúde. Em 2020 foram registrados 66.819 novos casos de tuberculose, e em 2019 foram notificados 4,5mil óbitos pela doença, com coeficiente de mortalidade de 2,2 óbitos por 100 mil habitantes.
