Abstract:
In their two hundred years of existence, the Chilean armed forces have had a close relationship with the Catholic faith, especially with a local version of the Virgin Mary (Virgen del Carmen), who is held as the patroness of the military. After its greatest tragedy in peacetime, when 44 soldiers—half of them Christian evangelicals—died buried in the snows of the Antuco volcano, the army and other branches of the military felt compelled to add Protestant chaplaincies to their repertoire of religious assistance, hitherto reserved for Catholics. This has been understood as a move towards a more egalitarian and inclusive understanding of religious freedom, but also as opposing exclusivist versions of liberal neutrality, in which the state fulfils its duty by taking religion out of the public sphere altogether. According to the times’ intellectual climate, the Chilean authorities have been framing these developments—not only in the military, but elsewhere—as the embodiment of a post-secular strategy, in which religion (all religion) should be welcomed back into public life and state institutions. This article presents five concerns with this chosen strategy: (a) whether inclusive secularism is a practical impossibility, since there is no way to accommodate all religious and non-religious expressions; (b) whether a post-secular narrative is adequate for states that that have not gone through the previous (secular) phase; (c) whether post-secular institutional arrangements—which entail welcoming religion in the public sphere—are adequate in countries without religious pluralism; (d) whether post-secular institutional arrangements—which entail welcoming religion in the public sphere—are not actually disparaging for non-religious people; (e) whether sponsored religious expressions and practices within public institutions put undue pressure on dissenters. This way, I offer the case of the Chilean armed forces as a proxy to illuminate the normative problems that an incipient process of growing religious pluralism and a move towards religious egalitarianism, framed as a post-secular discourse, faces in hegemonically Catholic countries.

Abstract:
Gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) is a major disease of blueberries (Vaccinium spp.), which require more than 15 days of shipment at 0°C to reach international markets. The aims of this study were (i) to determine the relative susceptibility of the flowering and fruiting stages, (ii) to determine the critical blueberry growth stages for postharvest gray mold control, and (iii) to determine the infection risks on the basis of weather conditions. The epiphytic colonization of B. cinerea of flowers and fruits was demonstrated in blueberry ‘Brigitta’ and ‘Duke’ in Antuco and Virquenco. In inoculated flowers and fruits in humid chambers at 20°C, full bloom and mature fruit stages were the most susceptible stages. Fungicide applications at the mature fruit stage appeared as the most critical period for gray mold control in stored fruits. The algorithm proposed, which was based on >6 h of wetness between 14 and 25°C, allowed the estimation of the periods of B. cinerea infection risk. A significant correlation between the B. cinerea infection risk and gray mold incidence in stored fruits was obtained (r = 0.96, P < 0.0001). Therefore, this algorithm has the potential to optimize fungicide applications under field conditions, but field validation of this algorithm remains to be determined.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Studies conducted over the last few years in Andean boreal Patagonia along the border of Argentina and Chile (36°50’S–37°53’S) have shown that its reptile diversity is comprised of several endemic lizards. Increasing research has led to recognize a number of cryptic iguanian species from previously named taxa. In this area is common the only known Chilean population of the Patagonian Liolaemus rothi, considered as a polymorphic species with wide geographical distribution. In this paper, we provide evidence to support the hypothesis that such population represents a new taxon, herein described as Liolaemus hermannunezi. This new species occurs in the southeastern areas of Laguna del Laja, in the Los Barros and Río de Los Pinos basins of Antuco Volcano (1428–1521 m) in the Bio Bio Region. Liolaemus hermannunezi is closely related to L. rothi, from which is significantly differentiated by molecular variables. In addition, this new species appears to be related to L. loboi and L. sagei, from which differs in having a smaller body size, a distinctive colour pattern and an isolated geographical distribution. Liolaemus hermannunezi is known from the boreal Patagonia of Chile, whereas L. loboi, L. rothi, and L. sagei are endemic to Argentinean Patagonia. The new species is a member of the boulengeri clade, diagnosed by the presence of a patch of abruptly enlarged scales on the posterior medial surface of the thigh, a character that is more conspicuous in adult males. Finally, a phylogenetic hypothesis for 67 Liolaemini taxa based on DNA sequences is presented

Abstract:
It has been ten years since the publication of Lorenzo Lazzarini's monumental volume on the quarrying, use and properties of the coloured marbles of Greece: Poikiloi Lithoi, Versiculores Maculae: I Marmi Colorati della Grecia Antica (Lazzarini 2007). The first study since Angelina Dworakowska's Quarries in Ancient Greece (Dworakowska 1975) to attempt a large-scale examination of quarrying across Greece, Lazzarini's approach is fundamentally an archaeometric one. Analysis of the evidence for quarrying in different regions is set alongside minero-petrographic and geochemical analyses of the materials extracted. Lazzarini focuses on 12 lithotypes: marmor lacedaemonium from Laconia, variously referred to as serpentino and porfido verde antico; three stone types from the Mani peninsula: rosso antico tenario, nero antico tenario and cipollino tenario; from Chios, the famous marmor chium or portasanta, breccia di Aleppo and nero antico chiota; the breccia di settebasi and semesanto of Skyros; the intensively exploited marmor carystium or cipollino verde, as well as the marmor chalcidicum or fior di pesco from Euboea; and from central and northern Greece, marmor thessalicum or verde antico and the breccia policroma della Vittoria. For each of these lithotypes, Lazzarini considers the evidence for their use and distribution, illustrated with a distribution map in each case, and provides a thorough overview of what is known about their quarries. Archaeological and geological approaches are here combined, and this is a hallmark of much recent work on the question of quarrying and stone use through Greek history.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The essay focuses on headed relative clauses in Old Italian assuming both a syntactic and textual perspective. Such research is based on a corpus of Tuscans texts in prose (XIIIth- XIVth centuries). The corpus contains also various texts translated from the Old French, so that make possible a comparison between Old Italian and Old French in this syntactic domain, the essay presents two sections. Other than a discussion on the most important contributions to the study of of the relative clauses, the first section deals the syntactic features of these structures in the ancient prose. Analysis tries to show the behaviour and the distinctive aspects of each relativization strategies, with respect to syntactic properties and communicative needs. The second section is reserved to the investigation of the functions fulfilled by the relative clauses, which can draw different effects (semantic, textual and pragmatic). Description of the occurrences founded in the corpus applies a tripartite categorization, based on the distinction between restrictive, predicative and non restrictives relatives

Abstract:
Due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the State chose to stop all restaurant activity, significantly affecting the sector, which led to the closure of 50% of the companies (Grupo Verona, 2020). This fact has generated an increase in their costs due to health protection measures, in addition to the fact that the current economic situation that they are going through due to their low sales does not allow them to implement new technological solutions to increase their demand, since they do not have much capital to invest in technological projects. For this reason, we created “Ojo al antojo” a mobile application that will function as an intermediary between restaurants and consumers to locate the dishes they want for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and with a delivery option aimed at consumers in Metropolitan Lima. They can even make table reservations from the same mobile application aimed at people who do not have time to wait for a table to be vacated, they also value time savings, the variety of dishes from the three natural regions of the country and specialized food (vegan, vegetarian or others). In addition, there are very few mobile applications in the market that allow connecting Mypes restaurants that seek to show their gastronomic offer, among unique, exotic and special food offers. Finally, the profitability indicators were analyzed and it was shown that the business is viable and very profitable, with projections to expand nationally and internationally.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Aontia: an ancient toponym from the Aragon mapsThe Aragon geographical maps represent the territory of the ancient Kingdom of Naples. they date back to the second half of the fifteenth century, probably some of them or some copies were subsequently modified or updated. These ancient maps were rediscovered about thirty years ago in the State Archives of Naples and in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, and they have been under study for some years. They are unfortunately still little used in the scientific field, although several contributions have demonstrated their validity as an investigation tool thanks to their undoubted information potential. In fact, thanks to the very high degree of characterization of these maps it is possible to advance hypotheses and considerations of a historical-archaeological nature of the territories they represent. It is often toponymic analysis that offers insights and guides the early stages of research: toponyms relating to natural and anthropic elements inform about landscapes rich of medieval and classical references. The case study proposed here relates to the toponym Aontia, located on the Aragon maps near the centers of the Basilicata of Cirigliano and Gorgoglione. It is a place currently unidentified and not attested in any medieval or modern source; its toponym may refer to some references relating to an epithet of the well-known Greek divinity Artemis and to the presence of a sanctuary dedicated to it or to an ancient settlement. Starting from the analysis of the toponym Aontia, a localization proposal will be carried out based on the etymological and historical study, on the topographic survey and on the remote sensing analysis.

Abstract:
The design of the ANTECH Model 2203 Very High Efficiency Neutron Counter (V-HENC) is a natural progression from the well-proven ANTECH Series 2200 Passive Neutron Drum Monitor used for measuring plutonium in intermediate and low level waste (LLW) 200 litre drums. ANTECH has had considerable experience in the implementation of the base design, originally licensed to ANTECH from the Joint Research Centre at Ispra, Italy. Three Series 2200 systems have been supplied by ANTECH: two are in operation at AWE Aldermaston for waste monitoring, and a third is implemented at the SMP facility at BNFL Sellafield. Some 15 years cumulative operating experience has been gained, and ANTECH provides technical support as part of continuing maintenance and support arrangements. The design has proven to be inherently reliable, safe, easy to operate and maintain. Recently, both AWE instruments have been fully characterised and calibrated to function in conventional coincidence counting mode with calibrations. ANTECH has used MCNP to optimise the design of the fast detector packages in order to achieve the lower detection levels required to measure Pu at USA TRU/LLW and UK Nirex LLW levels. With the aid of simulations a typical detection efficiency of 36% with Cd filters deployed and up to 45% with the internal Cd liner removed has been achieved. Statistical data filtering is used to decrease the cosmic ray induced neutron background, the latter also being minimised by the absence of steelwork within the drum measurement chamber. An outer shielding of 270 mm thickness of polyethylene is used to shield the system from external neutrons. A total of 16 fast detector modules are used, which consist of eight, 7.5 atmospheres 3He tubes (25.4mm diameter and 1033 mm active length) embedded in high density polyethylene and arranged in a double row. Tubes are connected using HN connectors to a junction box at the top of the vertical modules or on the end of the horizontal modules. The junction boxes are hermetically sealed and contain the high voltage distribution and AMPTEK model A-111 charge sensitive amplifiers. The operation of the V-HENC is based on passive neutron counting of the correlated neutrons from spontaneous fission of the even Pu nuclides, principally 240Pu and is coupled with an ANTECH/Ortec Advanced Multiplicity Shift Register employing the Los Alamos INCC code. Alternatively, the multiple gate ANTECH Time Correlation Analyser (TCA) may be used for enhanced data acquisition for multiplicity counting. The V-HENC can be operated in conventional shift register coincidence counting (Reals) mode (with a calibration function), the absolute multiplicity counting mode (histogram function) or totals counting mode. Plant measured isotopic ratios can be used by the software to convert 240Pueffective mass to total Pu mass.
