Abstract:
The shipbuilding industry shows a special interest in adapting to the changes proposed by the industry 4.0. This article bets on the development of an index that indicates the current situation considering that supply chain is a key factor in any type of change, and at the same time it serves as a control tool in the implementation of improvements. The proposed indices provide a first definition of the paradigm or paradigms that best fit the supply chain in order to improve its sustainability and a second definition, regarding the key enabling technologies for Industry 4.0. The hypothesis introduced by Smeets and Brenner concerning the perpendicular approach of the thumb and index finger during grasping has heuristic value, but it also has limitations. Among the limitations are the following: (a) the approach parameter is not directly testable and it is unclear how the values of deceleration at contact and movement time are set theoretically; (b) it is questionable that motion of the thumb and index finger are independent; (c) reliance on the minimum-jerk account ignores critiques of that account; and (d) the model begs the question of how the effectors proximal

Space weather disturbances cause considerable effects on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) performance and operation, affecting society and the economy due to the growing reliance on GNSS, especially in densely populated mid-latitudes. Recent studies hypothesised potential utilisation of the Disturbance storm-time (Dst) index for indication of an approaching ionospheric storm and possible deterioration of the GNSS positioning performance. We challenged the hypothesis in the case of the Halloween 2003 event in an attempt to confirm the direct correlation between the Dst index dynamics

The main purpose of this research is to supplement the existing approaches by proposing a new ecological acoustics approach in order to identify quiet areas in the city of Mytilene (Lesbos Island, North Aegean, Greece). Recent interest in degenerate four-wave mixing in artificial Kerr media to produce phase conjugate waves has concentrated on the visible and infrared spectra. Attempts to extend this technique to the millimeter wave and microwave spectral regions encounter severe difficulties arising from the requirements of medium nonlinearity and high beam intensities. The former problem may be solved by the use of artificial Kerr media and the latter by confinement in a waveguide. In a single-mode waveguide, however, wavefront perturbations cannot propagate.
