Full textPrevious research shows that the classical psychosocial models may need to be complemented by additional factors to better ensure that the measure instruments based on these models also consider the working conditions in the services of today. The purpose of this study was to examine which psychosocial work environment factors that are of most importance in today’s service companies, based on the factors covered by The hypothetical "causal model." A secondary aim of the study was to study the factors included in the Company 1 self-developed questionnaire for employee surveys, based on The hypothetical “causal” model, and give complements to that form. The research was performed by a survey study including two service companies. The participants were asked to rated 30 items from The hypothetical “causal model” by their importance to different psychosocial work factors. The results showed that Goals, Resources, Humanity & Social support, and Stimulation were rated as very important in both companies. However, the Cronbach´s alpha value of the factor Resources was too low. A few significant differences were also found between the two companies, and between women and men. Participants working at Company 2 valued Structures, Freedom, Social support and Resources higher than participants at Company 1, and moreover, women valued Goals, Democracy, and Humanitarianism and Social support higher than men. The form of Company 1, used for employee survey, was proposed to be complemented with issues related to Humanity (from the factor Humanity and Social support. In summary, although The hypothetical “causal model" seems to contain important work environment factors for today's working environment, it were also found to need to be complemented with other aspects to better cover the complexity of today´s working life.

Title: Anxiety within the organization - correlation study regarding psychosocial
work environment factors.
Author: Nicklas Blomqvist
The purpose of this study was to examine if there are any correlations between anxiety and psychosocial work environment factors according to Curt Andersson’s theory (2007). The last two decades there has been a significant increase in numbers of employees going on sick leave. According to studies the main explanation for the increase was the psychosocial work environment. One important factor observed in the group of long time sick list was that people working in the public service sector was over represented. By using a survey, the author of this paper has tried to find correlations between different work environmental factors that could contribute to experienced stress in the workplace. The author has also tried to find correlations between experienced stress (e.g. anxiety) and organizational questions. In this study stress represents the measure of the variable anxiety. The survey was conducted in three different pre-school units in a small community in the south of Sweden. More than 70 % of the respondents stated that they had felt stressed recently. A correlation analysis between stress and organizational factors showed a (r.39) correlation that was significant at the 0.01 level (1-tailed). However, the main factor to have an impact on stress (i.e. anxiety) according to the author’s findings was the factor designated job demand.

Full textBackground The work and its psychosocial work factors are important for well-being at work. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between work environmental factors, work-life balance and work-related well-being, and to identify explanatory factors for the well- being at work. Method A quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out with data collected from an ongoing project, the GodA-study. Employees within three municipally owned companies in Gästrikland (n = 303) answered a questionnaire in 2013. Based on this, a number of questions were selected to answer the present study’s aim. Descriptive statistics were used for socio- demographic characteristics and statistical modeling by stepwise linear regression analyzes for the study of the relationship. Results A significant association was found between certain work environmental factors (perception of the psychosocial work environment, motivation, leadership, work ability), work- life balance and work-related well-being. The main result indicates that these variables have a significant explanatory value for the well-being at work. These explain 40% of the variance in the outcome variable. Conclusions Work-life balance and certain work environmental factors (perception of the psychosocial work environment, motivation, leadership, work ability) can predict work-related well-being. The perception of the psychosocial work environment has been shown to have the strongest association with work-related well-being and could be explained by the fact that it includes an overall assessment of several different working environment factors and work-life balance. Based on cross-sectional studies’ methodological weaknesses, more studies of longitudinal nature are needed to draw more reliable conclusions.

Full textPurpose: The purpose of this work was to analyze the factors that contribute to burnout in those who works in health care. Method: The following work consists of literature study. Analysis: Several scientific cross-sectional articles from different countries were used with the aim of investigating which work environment factors often occur and cause the burnout among physicians, nurses and assisted nurses. Result: During the result, it was reported the burnout is caused by many factors such as stressful working days, young age, lack of work experience, family status, number of children, close cooperation with many patients, little contact med colleagues, high demands and ingratitude from the patients, problems with finances, lack of rest and individual´s health problems. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory and Copenhagen Burnout Inventory used in articles, fatigue syndrome was clearly defined, and its factors carefully analyzed. Discussion: In the discussion two different Burnout Inventory – surveys were described with the support of articles. In addition, the characteristics of a survey were discussed, with was supported by Bryman (2008); and articles, used in the analysis, were presented to ensure their credibility.
