Full textIt is known that measuring affects the behavior of an individual or a group and therefore it is important to be careful when deciding on what to measure and to know why it’s being measured when working process oriented. The purpose of the study is to identify what changes are needed regarding measurements and the choice of what’s being measured in a situation where a function oriented organization within manufacturing will make a transition to a more process oriented way of working. Recommendations to the case study company have also been constructed based on this to adapt the measurements in line with the new way of working. The study is based on a case study conducted at Setra Group which currently is in this transition. A literature review was conducted to gather theory regarding previous research in this field to create a theoretical framework to proceed from before collecting data. To gather data from the company in the case study seven semi-structured interviews were conducted with different executives within Setras production management, marketing department and managing directors at different production units. After the data collection the theoretical framework was completed with additional relevant theory relating subjects that were discussed during the interviews. This research approach can be described as an abductive research method. The gathered theory and data has then been compared and analyzed to lead to a conclusion. Case-specific recommendations to the business case has also been presented to Setra Group. The study has shown that it is important for a process-oriented organization to measure aspects that is in line with the customer-orientation that characterizes a process-oriented way of working. There is however no key answer to how many measurements, which or how much focus an organization should have on these measurements since it differs from one organization to another. Although there is, however, a need for a balance on what is being measured so they together cover the different perspectives and focus areas while at the same time the main measurements are clearly defined. Which measurements that is suitable to use at an organization depends on a number of aspects such as culture within the organization, type of product and what industry the organization is operative in. An organization should decide this themselves by creating a map over their main process to get a good picture over their success factors. It has also shown to be important that an organization is self-critical towards the measuring they are conducting, to avoid that the measurements are treated in a way that they are limiting the main process ability to deliver products to the customer.

Full textThe report has examined how silent and explicit knowledge can interact, in order to create efficient knowledge transfer between employees. The case company that has been investi-gated has for a long time been aware that the working method in a selected process at the company does not work efficiently. During the study, it has emerged, among other things, that it takes a long time to apply the process to different projects and that employees deliver results that do not meet the same quality. A qualitative study has been carried out on the case company through employee interviews, in order to find out the experience of a unit's working method, process documentation and communication in a process. It has been important to examine an employee perspective, as this is lacking in previous research. Previous scientific studies highlight, among other things, studies on how processes and working methods should work for entire organizations, as well as how this affects managers and superiors, but does not really stipulate anything about the employee's perspective in knowledge processes. The study's results show that employees feel dissatisfied with the way in which the process works, as the employees' own approaches are used to create temporary solutions to problems that arise in the process. It has also been found that instructions added to the process are not used for this purpose as they are intended. They are unclear and contain too much text. Another major problem that has been identified is the informal communication in the pro-cess. Shortcomings in information transfer between managers and co-workers have resulted in misunderstandings. Employees are currently not involved in development work and also feel that they lose commitment and motivation to work effectively in the process. The report contains suggestions for measures to create effective communication transfer within selected unit and process and hence become a more learning organization. The suc-cess of the study has been to show that a standardized Lean-based working method in which employees work similarly increases motivation and consensus. This leads to a more con-sistent quality in the process and enables a work with continuous improvements.

Full textThe development of BIM has in recent years gained momentum and many countries, including Sweden, have begun a process towards common structure in the sector of construction by standardizing information and processes (Nilsson, 2013). This development provides new opportunities for participants in the process of construction but also problems when the intensive IT- development meets a seemingly conservative industry (Statskontoret, 2009:6). The aim of this thesis is to design a modernized working process for the structural engineer that integrates BIM tools in the design process. An understanding of how the constructional engineer's work looks today is determined, and the possibilities and difficulties that the designer is experiencing. The findings in this study were that, despite the intensive development of BIM in recent years traditional processes are still applied, since an understanding of a higher initial effort does not yet exist. Increased demands are also put on the structural engineer's technical competence in structural engineering since it´s harder to "cheat" in the object-based models. The qualitative study demonstrated a conservative approach where the development of the structural engineer's role by means such as finished components from different vendors in Tekla Structures was seen as more problematic than beneficial. It also emerged that the most effort should be in the coordination of the project, in which more than clash detector tests should be taken into consideration and that the review should take place at an earlier stage and performed more consistently. In the practical use of Tekla Structures several opportunities to review and coordinate a project was found. The need for standardized BIM as concretized in the theory section was also confirmed by the respondents in terms of the desire for a common structure in the models. The work resulted in a working model for how the structural engineer should work with BIM and the conditions requested to allow this approach. An important part of this is to define a well-structured and clear way of working that is achieved through clear goals. Central to each BIM project is to appoint a BIM Coordinator whose task is following up the work towards the defined goals and ensuring united design among the workers. BIM requires a comprehensive understanding of the design to meet the new requirements.

Full textThe aim of this study was to identify the advertising agencies considered characteristics of guerrilla campaigns and agencies' working process on guerrilla campaigns, with the particular focus on the visual guerrilla campaigns, using semi-structured interviews.Five semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. Respondents were selected strategically. The results showed distinct characteristics of guerrilla campaigns. Based on these, the following definition were conducted: a guerrilla campaign is characterised by the lack of bought media exposure, a creative, often situational and environmentally adapted design, that without assistance from other sales promotions produce high interest or attention relative to the utilized budget, in order to create a deeper relationship with the recipient. The working methods of a visual guerrilla campaign and a regular guerrilla campaign do not differ remarkably from a traditional campaign. The study also showed that the spread of a guerrilla campaign was important for its effectiveness.

Full textBusiness travel and trade fairs have been around for ages, the first World Expo was conducted already in 1851. The MICE-industry (Meetings, Incentive, conference and exhibition) increasingly extends across the world. This has resulted in the development of an increasing number of facilities and other resources. Recently, a concern has arisen about the expansion potentially oversaturating the market. What resources are required for a destination to be interesting for MICE-events? This study attempts out to investigate this through interviews with event businesses in the MICE-industry in order to take the empirical material towards previously researched information regarding this. The study carried out six qualitative semi-structured interviews with event businesses based in Sweden. Informants from the six companies were interviewed about the companies approach to organizing a MICE-event, and what resources they see as important on a destination suitable for MICE. The results showed that most of the resources for themselves where not of great importance, since different types of events require different types of resources. There were some resources the informants gave greater importance than others, such as transportation, partnership and creativity. A conclusion was reached that the destinations who will be the most successful in the future MICE-industry are the ones that in a creative way get their unique qualities out to the market.
