Nevertheless, after scientific analysis of the representative examples materialized in raw concrete and brick and their comparison with authentic interpretations of Brutalist principles, it is evident that Serbia does have a significant number of architectural works representing Brutalism. Abstract:
What are the reasons for the negative reception of modern architecture in the 1960s and 1970s? If we consult the critics themselves, the counter-reaction is a result of the overflow of new semantic insights from disciplines such as psychology and sociology in architecture. But if we turn to philosophy of architecture, Nelson Goodman's notion of exemplification might provide some answers; not only to the critiques of modern architecture but also to the epistemic turn affecting architecture. This article argues that it was the extensive use of a formalist aesthetics of exemplification which led

The architect Maxwell Fry (1899–1987) is widely recognized as one of the key protagonists in the development of Modernist architecture in Britain. Discussion of this role perhaps inevitably tends to focus on Fry's early involvement in the Modern Architectural Research (MARS) Group and his inter-war work, particularly his prestigious partnership with the Bauhaus-founder Walter Gropius. Post-war, emphasis shifts to Fry's advancement of ‘Tropical Architecture’ in former British colonies with his wife and partner, the architect Jane Drew (1911–96). Abstract The innovative 20th century brought many problems, but it brought many solutions too. The problems architecture was trying to handle at the time were no longer solvable with traditional methods. The world learned about new architectural movements like post-war modernism, brutalism, high-tech architecture, and postmodernism. However, there were places where innovative tendencies were implemented at a slower rate, with some delay, or not at all. The paper analyses buildings built in the alpine territories of the High Tatras in former Czechoslovakia and examines three typologies of huts:

Strikingly, the imagery and setting of the film shares much in common with the images used by the Smithsons in their work, particularly those by Nigel Henderson, of children playing in the East End. Together is a 52-minute film screened in 1956, as part of Free Cinema programme. East London, with its narrow streets, riversides, docks, and multiple bomb sites, a

The article approaches the situation of Prague cinemas in the second half of the 20th century from the end of the Second World War to the Velvet Revolution within the socio-historical background from the point of view of an architect and a cinephile. The entire text is arranged chronologically in four paragraphs reflecting the contemporary political and social situation. It approximates the post-war period full of ideological ideals, when the construction of a dense network of cinemas became a key element of national renewal, not only in large cities but also in the regions.
