This paper has been inspired by Tony Watts’ pioneering work which explored the relationship between VET and career guidance. This relationship features traditionally ambiguous and not very clearcut definitions. His helpful distinction between career guidance ‘prior to’ and ‘within’ VET opened new perspectives for analysis.
