Abstract:
Archiv bezeichnet eine Einrichtung, in der Schriftstücke, Dokumente, Akten und andere Zeugnisse gesammelt, geordnet, bewahrt und restauriert werden. Archive erfüllen als Verwaltungs- und Erinnerungsorte eine Vielzahl von Funktionen und sind eng mit institutioneller Macht verschränkt. Kulturwissenschaftliche Analysen zeigen, dass analoge und digitale Archive bestimmten Akteur*innen mehr Raum und Sichtbarkeit gewähren als anderen. Dabei strukturieren soziale Kategorien wie gender, race und class den Zugang zum und den Eingang ins Archiv. Eine intersektionale Heterogenisierung des Archivs wird in Teilen der Wissenschaft sowie von privaten Initiativen deshalb angestrebt, löst aber auch Kritik aus.

Abstract:
Das Populäre und das Archiv sind zwei sich gegenseitig ausschließende Gegenstandsbereiche, wenn man ersteres mit den Kennzeichen Allgemeinverständlichkeit und Allgemeinzugänglichkeit bei gleichzeitiger affektiver Verankerung (Williams 1976) verbindet, und letzteres in erster Linie als Selektionspraxis und normative Wissensformation versteht (Foucault 1969, Derrida 1995). Mit Urs Stäheli (in Pompe, Scholz 2002) lässt sich hier ein Paradox aufzeigen: das allgemein Verständliche zu archivieren hieße, nur das, was schon überall vorhanden ist zu verdoppeln. Das Populäre der Archivordnung zu unterwerfen, hieße jedoch auf der anderen Seite, es zu ‚entpopularisieren’, den Zugang zu selegieren. In der jüngsten Vergangenheit nun werden wir mit fluktuierenden Archivstrukturen konfrontiert, die sich via Internet und Netzwerk-Konfigurationen als dynamisch veränderbares Bilderkonvolut und als selbstreflexive Medienpraxis präsentieren. Wikipedia und YouTube drängen sich heute als dominante Bildarchive auf, die als populäre Medienpraxis die archivarische Arbeit am Bild beständig weitertreiben und umbauen. Es wäre nun zu fragen, ob nicht gerade hier eine Archivpraxis bereitstünde, die das Populäre nicht in statuarischen Ordnungssystemen tot stellt, sondern Selektions- und Ordnungsprozesse als performative Praxis offen hält. Vielleicht wäre es möglich, hier das Bild eines ‚Archiv-Dunkels’ und einer offenen Oberfläche des Populären zu einem hybriden Konzept zu verschränken.

This thesis deals with a design of telemetry archive of PSAT, PSAT-2 and BRICSat sattelites. This telemetry data need to be extracted from SDR IQ records. The thesis contains a Doppler effect theory and description of structure of telemetry data. Then it presents a design of a program for Doppler effect correction, demodulation and decoding of these records and saving the data to telemetry archive. Thesis also deals with analysis of decoded data.

Die Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig ist spätestens seit dem 19. Jahrhundert als eine der größten wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Deutschlands auch Bewahrerin zahlreicher Autographensammlungen und Nachlässe (rund 260 Nachlässe und Teilnachlässe) mit mehr als 200.000 autographen Briefdokumenten. Durch das Depositum der reichen Sondersammlungen der ehemaligen Rats- und Stadtbibliothek (1962, vertraglich gesichert 2008) gehört sie zu den wichtigen Archiven für die Wissenschafts- und Kunstgeschichte sowie für die Stadtgeschichte Leipzigs.

Die Aneignung und Überlieferung im Tanz verläuft in hohem Masse über den praktischen Vollzug: Von Körper zu Körper, durch Nachahmung und basierend auf der Erinnerungsleistung des Körpers. Diese Spezifik prägt nicht nur grundlegend die Tanzgeschichte und ihre Schreibung, sie ist auch Gegenstand einer seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre virulenten Auseinandersetzung mit Archivierungsprozessen und Vermittlungsstrategien im Tanz. Welche Rolle dabei dem Körper, seiner Geschichtlichkeit und Artikulationsfähigkeit zukommt, wird nicht zuletzt in der Tanzpraxis selbst vielseitig verhandelt. Sie birgt, so meine These, auch für die Tanztheorie Erkenntnispotential. Inwiefern und warum soll hier ausgehend von zwei choreografischen Reflexionen zu Transferwegen des Tanzes dargelegt werden. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Frage nach der epistemologischen Funktion des Körpers im Hinblick auf ein Archiv des Tanzes.

Es gehört zum gängigen Selbstverständnis von Performancekunst, die in ihrem Namen entstandenen Artefakte oder Werke als einzigartig, unwiederholbar und radikal singulär zu denken. Nur in ihrem Nicht-Sein soll ihr Dasein zu finden sein. Ihrem Wesen nach werden Performances daher geschichtslos, unhistorisch und überzeitlich gedacht. Aber sowohl Geschichtsschreibung wie künstlerische Praxis wissen, dass Gemachtes nicht einfach verschwindet. Aber wo geht es hin? Und wer findet es wieder? Der Beitrag untersucht an Beispielen von Performance-orientierten Ausstellungen neue Werkkonzepte und ihr Verhältnis zum Archivischen.

The object of this paper is the validation of the Archivio Vi.Vo. architecture, developed within the CLARIN-IT consortium for the preservation and accessible consultation of historical oral archives. Abstract:
The process of data acquisition and transformation of Baumann Digital and Joachim-Raff-Archiv is the subject of this poster description. The data in both projects is (meanwhile) based on TEI and MEI to obtain a machine-readable corpus. The presentation platform created for this project was initially intended as a simple form of visualization for internal use, i. e. for structuring, proofreading of digital contents and first evaluations. The xQuery-based application for eXist-db was developed in detail during the first period of the Baumann Digital project, adding the dimension of public presentation to its original purpose. This poster focuses on the process of collecting, transforming and presenting the data of these two small projects, which have different research interests but deal with similar archival material.

In her book Decolonising Solidarity: Dilemmas and Directions for Supporters of Indigenous Struggles, Clare Land suggest how non-Indigenous people might develop new frameworks supporting Indigenous struggles. Land argues research is deeply implicated with processes of colonisation and the appropriation of indigenous knowledge. Given that architectural archives are central to the research of architectural history, how might these archives be decolonised? This paper employs two disparate archives to develop a framework of how architectural archivists might begin to decolonise these archives. Firstly, these archives are the Grounds Romberg and Boyd Archive (GRB) at the State Library of Victoria (SLV). Secondly, the Greg Burgess Archive is now located at Avington, Sidonia in Victoria. The materials from each of these archives will be discussed in relation to two frameworks. These are the Tandanya-Adelaide Declaration endorsed by The Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) and the Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) framework developed by Janke (2019). These archival frameworks suggest how interconnected architectural histories and historiographies might be read, reframed and restored. Decolonising architectural archives will require a continuous process of reflection and political engagement with collections and archives. In pursuing these actions, archivists and architectural historians can begin to participate in the indigenous Reworlding of the archive.

Abstract:
The main objectives of the "ArchiVico Digitale" project are the digitization, cataloging and web publication on an Omeka-based platform of the documentary material preserved in the Historical Archive of Vicopisano (HAV) to facilitate the access to several documents and the exploration of thematic discovery paths linked to local historical memory.The result of the publication of this material on the web is a digital archive collecting and enhancing archival documents to allow scholars and the general public to carry out research. Since the HAV keeps a large number of documents gathered in files, a preliminary selection of two types of documents/files was necessary: those in a poor state of conservation and those of extreme interest which bear witness to relations with the territory and historical dynamics. The proposed approach, implemented in synergy between different public and private subjects, provides the restoration of documents in a poor state of conservation, the digitization and archival description of each selected document, the web publication in a digital archive and the dissemination of the contents of the documents relating to local historical dynamics to students of schools of all levels in educational courses aimed at preserving the collective historical memory. The project, conducted in a three-year period, resulted in 12 thematic paths for a total of 194 documents (765 image files), a total of 6 restored archives (5,130 image files) and a dissemination activity of the thematic itineraries involving a total of over 160 students and over 15 teachers.

This paper discusses Black Bottom Street View, an immersive representation of an historic African American neighborhood in Detroit that was destroyed during Urban Renewal. The exhibit recreates Black Bottom’s street grid and envelops visitors within panoramic views constructed from stitched archival photographs of the neighborhood. The exhibit’s light- weight, tensile, and flat-packed structures allow the project to be deployed across the city and region. In spatializing the photographs, Black Bottom Street View transforms the archive from a stack of disconnected snapshots into a shifting but cohesive whole: a public spectacle, a transient monument, a social platform for connection with the archive. Black Bottom Street View also helps to augment the city’s fragmented, incomplete record of Black Bottom by working with a local organization, Black Bottom Archives, to collect, preserve, and provide digital access to oral histories that tell the story of Black Bottom from the perspective of its former residents. Through collaborative means, the Black Bottom Street View exhibit visualizes, spatializes and mobilizes a city archive in order to amplify ongoing efforts to preserve Black Bottom’s history and help connect its legacy with the present.

Working with satellite data, has long been an issue for users which has often prevented from a wider use of these data because of Volume, Access, Format and Data Combination. The purpose of the Storm Ice Oil Wind Wave Watch System (SIOWS) developed at Satellite Oceanography Laboratory (SOLab) is to solve the main issues encountered with satellite data and to provide users with a fast and flexible tool to select and extract data within massive archives that match exactly its needs or interest improving the efficiency of the monitoring system of geophysical conditions in the Arctic. SIOWS - is a Web GIS, designed to display various satellite, model and in situ data, it uses developed at SOLab storing, processing and visualization technologies for operational and archived data. It allows synergistic analysis of both historical data and monitoring of the current state and dynamics of the "ocean-atmosphere-cryosphere" system in the Arctic region, as well as Arctic system forecasting based on thermodynamic models with satellite data assimilation.

Anhand von sieben ausgewählten kinder- und jugendliterarischen Werken analysiert die Autorin die Funktion des Buches im Buch als Archiv für die erzählte Welt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das Buch im Buch nicht nur als narrative Struktur dient, sondern auch als Archiv fungiert, das Erinnerungen und Wissen bewahren, aber auch verwehren kann. Diese Erkenntnisse bieten neue Einblicke in die Verbindung von Literatur und Archivwesen.

Abstract:
This paper presents the findings of the pilot studies and recommendations for designing of two-hinged wooden arches. The prototype models of wooden arches with the span of 6mand the rise of 1m were designed. The models had a rectangular cross-section of 180x40mm and a T-section of 180x40mm with a plywood plate with the thickness of 6 mm and the width of 500mm. The main objective of the T-section was to ensure the stability of the arch. Each arch was composed of six segments –boards joined by clamping plates. The bowstring truss including two inclined tie bars enables carrying asymmetric loads and provides in-plane stability of the arch. A methodology for laboratory testing of the prototype models of wooden arches subjected to different types of loads was developed. Two prototypes of wooden arches were tested with rectangular cross-sections and two T-section ones subjected to the loading across the span, and two prototypes subjected to the half-span loading. In total, eight arches were tested. Deflections of arches, cross-section deformations and arch thrust force were recorded. The arches were tested until failure. The results of testing revealed insufficient stability of the arches with rectangular cross-section in the horizontal plane. For the arches with T-section the whole arch rib was damaged, the in-plane stability was ensured by the T-section. The collapsing force of the T-section arch was about 1.3 times greater than the collapsing force of the rectangular section arches.

Background: The tens of thousands of academic journal websites that are on the Internet today often do not have a clear organizational structure for their website. If most of them are convenient enough for readers (if the journal is open access), then many have problems informing authors about the conditions, the process of submitting and reviewing the manuscript. The Editorial Offices empirically populate the journal's website with content that can change dramatically (both in terms of website design and content) as the journal develops. Aim of Study: To develop a website model for an academic journal that takes into account the basic requirements for the preparation, publication, and archiving of high quality scientific manuscripts. Material and Methods: The academic journal website model is based on a structural-functional approach. The website content consists of text and integrated applications. This model takes into account the basic requirements for the preparation, publication, and archiving of high-quality open access scientific manuscripts, as well as the indexing of journal articles by leading indexing agencies. The URL links to a website page in the Drexel Digital Museum (DDM) fashion image archive containing a 3D interactive panorama of an evening suit by American fashion designer James Galanos with related text. This afternoon dress is from Galanos' Fall 1976 collection. It is made from pale pink silk chiffon and finished with hand stitching on the hems and edges of this dress, The dress was gifted to Drexel University as part of The James G. Galanos Archive at Drexel University in 2016. After it was imaged the gown was deemed too fragile to exhibit. By imaging it using high resolution GigaPan technology we are able to create an archival quality digital record of the dress and exhibit it virtually at life size in 3D panorama. The panorama is an HTML5 formatted version of an ultra-high resolution ObjectVR created from stitched tiles captured with GigaPan technology. It is representative the ongoing research of the DDM, an international, interdisciplinary group of researchers focused on production, conservation and dissemination of new media for exhibition of historic fashion.

The hope is that the ideas discussed in this exhibit will be helpful to all of those who may not have training as archivists but may be interested in preserving and sharing material via its digitization and display through an online archive.
