Am 28. Juni 2015 verstarb der international renommierte Semiotiker und Designer Professor Dr. Martin Krampen in Ulm. Seine langjährige Lebensgefährtin, Reintraut Semmler, und sein Freundeskreis trafen sich am 3. Juli 2015 zu einer Trauerfeier im historischen Gebäude der Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm. Martin Krampen hatte dort von 1953 bis 1957 studiert. Neben den persönlichen Erinnerungen von Hanne Tächl und Prof. Eugen Gomringer sprach Prof. Dr. Dagmar Rinker über den wissenschaftlichen und gestalterischen Weg von Martin Krampen. Dagmar Rinker leitete von 1997 bis 2012 das Archiv der ehemaligen Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm. Seit 2012 ist sie als Professorin für Designgeschichte und Ausstellungstheorie an der HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd tätig. Während ihrer Ulmer Zeit begleitete sie zahlreiche Projekte von Martin Krampen. In Erinnerung an den Wissenschaftler Martin Krampen publiziert die Zeitschrift für Semiotik die Rede von Dagmar Rinker.

Abstract:
The article highlights the history of the faculty therapy clinic of the Emperor Moscow University, i.e. of pre-Soviet MGU. The clinic’s activities are traced at their different stages when they were guided by profs. A.I. Over, G.A. Zakhar’in, P.M. Popov, V.D. Shervinsky, L.E. Golubinin, and N.F. Golubov. Analysis of numerous literature and archival data (including state archives and Shervinsky’s personal archive) provided a deeper insight into the post-Zakhar’in activities, allowed to correct erroneous information contained in some literature publications, and collect additional data for biographies of the leading professors of the clinic with special reference to the contribution made by the Shervinsky-Golubinin scientific and clinical school.Three pinnacles in the course of development of the clinic were distinguished dated to the mid-XIX century (under prof. A.I. Overt), the 1860s-1870s (under the then young reformer G.A.Zakhar’in), and the first decade of the XX century (under profs. V.D. Shervinsky and L.E. Golubinin who created a scientific therapeutic school that greatly promoted the further development of internal medicine in this country).

O trabalho foi desenvolvido no município de Bossoroca, RS, em uma área experimental de 31,17 ha, subdividida em sete setores de aproximadamente 4,45 ha. Foram coletadas 25 plantas em cada um dos setores, sendo medidos os parâmetros de crescimento e desenvolvimento em períodos quinzenais, seguidos da determinação dos componentes de produção na colheita. O manejo de irrigação baseou-se em turno de rega estipulado pelo instrumento irrigâmetro, com mesma lâmina em todos os setores. Os pontos da área georreferenciada foram visualizados através do software ArcGIS 9.3, gerando mapas de produção. As médias de produção dos diferentes setores foram submetidas à análise de variância e a comparação de médias pelo teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade de erro. Concluiu-se que ocorreu variação na produtividade entre os setores, sendo que no setor 03 observou-se maior produção com 6713,25 kg ha-1 e o setor 05 a menor com 5248,05 kg ha-1. Dubingių piliavietė yra Molėtų rajone, Asvejos ežero pusiasalyje (anksčiau buvusioje saloje) greta Dubingių miestelio. 2003 m. buvo pradėti sistemingi Dubingių piliavietės archeologiniai tyrimai. 2004 m. ten buvusios bažnyčios vietoje buvo atrasti ir bendromis archeologų, antropologų, istorikų ir menotyrininkų pastangomis identifikuoti Radvilų palaikai. 2006–2008 m. visa buvusių bažnyčių vieta išsamiai ištirta, restauruoti, užkonservuoti ir pritaikyti turistams lankyti ištirtos evangelikų reformatų bažnyčios pamatai, įrengta nauja Radvilų palaidojimo kripta, jų palaikams pagamintas naujas, puošnus sarkofagas, taip pat granito antkapis su epitafiniu tekstu. 2009 m., po iškilmingo atsisveikinimo su surastais ir atpažintais Radvilų giminės atstovų palaikais Vilniuje, buv. Radvilų rūmuose, dabartiniame Lietuvos nacionaliniame dailės muziejuje, 2009 m. rugsėjo 5 d. jie buvo iškilmingai perlaidoti Dubingiuose. Perlaidojimo iškilmėse dalyvavo Lietuvos Respublikos vadovai, politikai, evangelikų reformatų bažnyčios atstovai, iš Lenkijos atvykę Radvilų giminės palikuonys – Mikalojus (Mikolaj) ir Motiejus (Maciej) Radvilos (Radziwill) ir gausiai susirinkusi Lietuvos visuomenė. Visi šie įvykiai buvo plačiai pristatyti visuomenei. Už Dubingių piliavietės ir Radvilų kapavietės mokslinius kompleksinius tyrimus (2003–2009 m.), jų sklaidą ir kolektyvinę monografiją „Radvilų tėvonija Dubingiuose“ prof. dr. A. Kuncevičiui, prof. dr. R. Jankauskui ir doc. dr. R. Laužikui 2009 m. paskirta Nacionalinė mokslo pažangos premija.

Thesis deal with tuning of database Oracle, which is used by digital archive SAFE. In the concrete deal with setting parameters of database. It is divided to three parts. In first part it characterizes factors that influence performance of database. In second part it describes possibilities of tuning and setting Oracle database. In third part it is first introduced digital archive SAFE, after that it is chosen suitable testing tool for workload generation and described test scenarios and last are performed tests and compared results at different database database settings. Goal of thesis is description and trial tuning of Oracle database, which is used by digital archive SAFE. Other goal is test of files inserting into digital archive at different settings (saving to the database, on file system). These goals are achieved by testing tool workload generation and compare response time at different settings. Contribution of this thesis is above all trial of tuning Oracle database, which is used by digital archive SAFE. Document can be used like handbook for implementatory of tested implementation of digital archive SAFE.

The objectives of this project are to create a concept of system for multimedia documents management and long-term archiving and its realization. The opening chapters are devoted to theoretical analysis of the expected characteristics of this systém and their implementation in open source document management system Alfresco, which was used for implementation. Other chapters are devoted to modifications made to this system, which are enhancements to work with multimedia content and its metadata. Also possibilities of connecting the system to other systems are mentioned. Finally, this document also describes testing the changes and adjustments according to various criteria.

Este estudo pretende, num primeiro momento, identificar as traduções portuguesas do discurso de Cícero Pro Archia , os seus autores e o contexto histórico e cultural em que foram produzidas. As traduções inéditas encontram- -se aqui editadas e as edições impressas com mais de uma edição têm uma edição crítica. Há ainda lugar a uma reflexão sobre as possíveis edições latinas do Pro Archia consultadas pelos tradutores. O segundo momento é dedicado à análise comparativa destas traduções, que assenta quer em aspectos linguísticos e lexicais específicos quer nos processos de tradução de cada texto, relacionando-os com o contexto de produção de cada uma.
First, this study aims at identifying Portuguese translations of Cicero's speech Pro Archia , their authors and the historical and cultural context where they were produced. Unpublished translations are edited in this work and translations published more than once have now a critical edition. I also indicate possible Latin editions of the Pro Archia consulted by Portuguese translators. In the second part of this thesis, there is a comparative analysis of those translations that includes linguistic and lexical items and a study of translation processes of each text interrelating them to the production context of each one.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the issues of locating and marking both metalic and optical transmission network. The choice of an appropriate program for creation and management of map document is discussed. In the following chapter some necessary adjustments to the ArcGIS ArcView program are made so that it is applicable to the field of telecommunication networks. The last chapter addresses the design of documentation options in optical transmission network. For metalic cables the possibilities of attaching transmitter to a cable and locating the induced magnetic field is covered. Among the methods for finding optical cables we list ways of locating through the use of markers, GPS location and added metalic conductors. Fundamentals of markers and their types are thoroughly analysed. In the chapter on GPS we examine how this system works and evaluate its accuracy. The next chapter enumerates requirements that a program should meet. We analyse properties of considered programs and evaluate them with respect to these requirements. For a chosen program the possibilities of enriching it with selected map document are discussed. For these map document, information about their applicability and source is presented. We also quote the cost for these maps wherever possible. The last chapter treats ways of documenting optical networks.

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the interpretation of harpsichord sonatas written by Josef Antonín Štěpán / Joseph Anton Steffan (1726–1797), who was an important figure in Viennese musical life of the eighteenth century. His works influenced a large number of his contemporaries, including Joseph Haydn, Jan Křtitel Vaňhal, Leopold Koželuh, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His compositional procedures departed from period conventions: a number of his sonatas and concertos for keyboard instruments begin with a slow introduction to an opening fast movement; he experimented with one-movement forms (sonatas, capriccios); in 1778 he published the very first collection of Germans songs with piano accompaniment in Vienna. The foundation for his music is his detailed knowledge of counterpoint and thoroughbass practice, and he draws on influences from Italian music, Czech folk music, the Gallant style and the Sensitive style. In his late works, he even arrives at a Pre-Romantic style. It is incomprehensible that he has nearly been forgotten in spite of his fame in his own day. In an attachement there is enclosed a critical edition of Steffan´s sonatas, PicŠ. 19–21 issued in ARTA (April 2017). Abstract:
Vid framställning av småskaliga kartor från storskaliga kartor behöver de kartografiska objekt som kartan utgörs av generaliseras för att den ska förbli läsbar. Historiskt har generaliseringen och urvalet vid skapandet av kartor utförts av kartografen när kartan ritats, men i dag kan generaliseringen göras automatiskt för att effektivisera generaliseringsprocessen. Automatisk generalisering är en avancerad process där flera algoritmer behöver användas för att generaliseringen ska efterlikna den en kartograf gör vid ritandet av en karta. Flera olika geografiska informationssystem och andra programvaror erbjuder möjligheten att automatiskt generalisera kartobjekt vid kartframställning, vilket är nödvändigt när stora datamängder ska generaliseras, men få jämförelser har gjorts mellan olika programvarors generaliseringsverktyg. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att jämföra och utvärdera verktyg för automatisk generalisering av kartobjekt i programvarorna ArcGIS Pro och FME Desktop. Det som undersöks och jämförs är hur verktygen i de båda programvarorna skiljer sig, om tidsåtgången vid användningen av verktygen är olika och hur resultatet efter generalisering av byggnader och vägar ser ut i de båda programvarorna. Resultatet från jämförelsen kan användas av kommuner eller olika länders nationella lantmäterier och kartverk vid valet av programvara för generalisering, eller vid generalisering av webbkartor. Tre typer av generaliseringsmetoder som kan användas på kartobjekt och som undersöktes vid jämförelsen av de två programvarorna i denna studie är förenkling, utjämning och sammanslagning. Vid digital och automatisk förenkling av linjer används förenklingsalgoritmer, vilka tar bort brytpunkter från linjens geometri för att förenkla den. Vid utjämning används utjämningsalgoritmer, vilka flyttar på brytpunkter i linjens geometri för att göra den mjukare. När sammanslagning av polygoner görs vid digital och automatisk generalisering grupperas först flera mindre polygoner ihop baserat på avståndet mellan dem, för att sedan ersättas av en enda större polygon. De data som i jämförelsen generaliserades i de båda programvarorna var vektordata från GSD-Fastighetskartan och från Karlstads kommuns baskarta. Resultatet från generaliseringen sammanställdes genom att antal brytpunkter, väglinjer och byggnadspolygoner samt byggnadsarea före och efter generalisering beräknades. Tidtagning gjordes på processerna i de båda programvarorna och programvarornas olika verktyg och respektive verktygs parametrar sammanställdes och jämfördes. Resultatet från jämförelsen visar att FME Desktop saknar möjligheter att tunna ut vägnätverk. Förenkling av väglinjer tar längre tid att genomföra i ArcGIS Pro och skillnaderna mellan det kvantitativa resultatet i båda programvarorna är liten, medan det finns några betydande skillnader i det grafiska resultatet, där topologin förändras efter förenkling i FME Desktop. De grafiska skillnaderna mellan utjämning av vägarna i de båda programvarorna anses vara obetydliga, men eftersom de utjämnade väglinjerna i ArcGIS Pro följer originallinjen närmre kan det medföra färre spatiala konflikter med kartobjekt i andra kartlager. Förenkling av byggnader anses inte lämpligt att göra med de verktyg som finns tillgängliga i FME Desktop. Det finns både för- och nackdelar med att göra sammanslagning av byggnader i FME Desktop istället för i ArcGIS Pro.

Abstract:
The experimental proof of the floating wind turbine has been started off Goto Islands in Japan. Furthermore, the project of floating wind farm is afoot off Fukushima Prof. in north eastern part of Japan. It is essential for realization of the floating wind farm to comprehend its safety, electric generating property and motion in waves and wind. The scale model experiments are effective to catch the characteristic of floating wind turbines. Authors have mainly carried out scale model experiments with wind turbine models on SPAR buoy type floaters. The wind turbine models have blade-pitch control mechanism and authors focused attention on the effect of blade-pitch control on both the motion of floater and fluctuation of rotor speed. In this paper, the results of scale model experiments are discussed from the aspect of motion of floater and the effect of blade-pitch control.

Didėjantis Lietuvos gyventojų susidomėjimas gamtos būkle ir kylantis aplinkosaugos poreikis natūraliai siejamas su didžiausiu Lietuvoje esančiu parku – Labanoro regioniniu parku. Šis parkas 2004 m. gegužės 7 dieną buvo įtrauktas į Pasaulio gamtos fondą (angl. Global Nature Fund), siekiantį išsaugoti gyvūnų pasaulį, jų buveines ir migracijos maršrutus. Labanoro regioninį parką sudaro daugiau nei 70 ežerų, 80 proc. parko ploto užima miškų masyvai. Tyrimui pasirinktas mažiausiai ištyrinėtas, telmologinio draustinio teritorijoje esantis Urkio ežeras. Jame draudžiama plaukioti ir laisvai vaikščioti po jį supančią pelkę. Naudotos dviejų laikotarpių (2015 ir 2019 m.) Sentinel-2 palydovinės nuotraukos. Vaizdai apdoroti ArcGIS Pro programine įranga, įvertintas augalų vegetacinis indeksas (NDVI), atliktas rastrų klasifikavimas, palygintas rankiniu ir automatiniu būdu sukurtas ežero kontūras, nustatyta aktuali Urkio ežero vandens linija, atlikta Urkio pelkės analizė ir apskaičiuotas Urkio ežero kaitos greitis.

Abstract:
Technology and competence from offshore structures, which were developed to serve in the harsh environment of the North Sea, have played a major role in developing technology for extreme fjord crossings in Norway. The Høgsfjord Project, and later the E39 Fjord Crossings Project, have taken advantage of the existing competence and experience from offshore structures. To a great extent, it has been a question of adapting offshore technology and combining it with advanced bridge technology to new types of structures. These new bridges are in many respects very different from offshore structures, mainly due to their length, slenderness, long resonance periods and complex dynamic behavior. Professor Torgeir Moan has been heavily involved in the technology development for the fjord crossings. First, in the Høgsfjord submerged floating tunnel project, and now in the Fjord Crossings project with the bold aim of making the E39 Coastal Highway along the west-coast of Norway free of ferries. He has always showed genuine interest in the challenges, and have always been willing to help identifying and solving the problems. His contribution has been vital to the outcome of the work.

Due to the analysis performed, reasons for the population decline in Arctic regions as well as pros and cons of inhabiting those areas are revealed.

Abstract:
Simulations of viscous flows based on the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations have become an engineering tool used on a daily basis. One of the main goals of such calculations is to determine friction forces, which are a consequence of the shear-stress at solid walls. In RANS (and other more sophisticated mathematical models), there are two main approaches for the determination of the shear-stress at a wall: direct application of the no-slip condition, i.e. the velocity gradient is determined directly at the surface; wall functions which determine the shear-stress at the wall from semi-empirical equations applicable up to the outer edge of the so-called “wall layer/log layer”. Although the first option is physically preferable, its numerical requirements may lead to iterative convergence problems and/or excessive calculation times. Therefore, especially at high Reynolds numbers, it is not unusual to use the latter approach. In this paper we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of wall-function boundary conditions. To this end we have calculated the flow around a flat plate, conventional and laminar airfoils and a circular cylinder. The influence of the location where wall functions are applied (distance to the wall) and the effect of the Reynolds number (ranging from model to full scale applications) are discussed. Griding requirements for wall-function boundary conditions are also addressed. The results obtained with wall functions are compared with those obtained from the direct application of the no slip at the wall. The results obtained in this study show that the use of wall functions in viscous flow calculations may be justifiable or completely unacceptable depending on the flow conditions. Furthermore, it is also shown that wall-function boundary conditions also require clustering of grid nodes close to the wall, but obviously less demanding than the direct application of no slip condition.

Safety of marine structures is one of the most important problems to be concerned by all stakeholders. Prof. Torgeir Moan of Marine Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology has dedicated almost all his academic life in investigating various issues in this field and he and his colleagues and students have made significant contributions to the analysis methods. He is certainly deserved to be dedicated a special symposium in honor of his contribution. The present author was greatly influenced by him and worked for the similar issues. In this paper, the author will re-discuss the issue of the safety of marine structures from a philosophical point of view based on his own experience. The purpose of this presentation is to identify the key factors on safety of marine structures and to suggest the potential treatment methods for these factors. It is expected that this discussion is of some value for the future researches in this field of safety of marine structures which was greatly focused by Prof. Torgeir Moan.

Abstract:
Monitoring the impacts of ecosystem restoration strategies requires both short-term and long-term land surface monitoring. The combined use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and satellite imagery enable effective landscape and natural resource management. However, processing, analyzing, and creating derivative imagery products can be time consuming, manually intensive, and cost prohibitive. In order to provide fast, accurate, and standardized UAS and satellite imagery processing, we have developed a suite of easy-to-use tools integrated into the graphical user interface (GUI) of ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro as well as open-source solutions using NodeOpenDroneMap. We built the Monitoring Ecological Restoration with Imagery Tools (MERIT) using Python and leveraging third-party libraries and open-source software capabilities typically unavailable within ArcGIS. MERIT will save US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) districts significant time in data acquisition, processing, and analysis by allowing a user to move from image acquisition and preprocessing to a final output for decision-making with one application. Although we designed MERIT for use in wetlands research, many tools have regional or global relevancy for a variety of environmental monitoring initiatives.

This paper traces the origins of today’s campaigns for school vouchers and other modes of public funding for private education to efforts by Milton Friedman beginning in 1955. It reveals that the endgame of the “school choice” enterprise for libertarians was not then—and is not now--to enhance education for all children; it was a strategy, ultimately, to offload the full cost of schooling onto parents as part of a larger quest to privatize public services and resources. Based on extensive original archival research, this paper shows how Friedman’s case for vouchers to promote “educational freedom” buttressed the case of Southern advocates of the policy of massive resistance to Brown v. Board of Education. His approach—supported by many other Mont Pelerin Society members and leading libertarians of the day --taught white supremacists a more sophisticated, and for more than a decade, court-proof way to preserve Jim Crow. All they had to do was cease overt focus on race and instead deploy a neoliberal language of personal liberty, government failure and the need for market competition in the provision of public education.

Habitat suitability models are widely adopted in ecosystem management and restoration, where these index models are used to assess environmental impacts and benefits based on the quantity and quality of a given habitat. Many spatially distributed ecological processes require application of suitability models within a geographic information system (GIS). Here, we present a geospatial toolbox for assessing habitat suitability. The Geospatial Suitability Indices (GSI) toolbox was developed in ArcGIS Pro 2.7 using the Python® 3.7 programming language and is available for use on the local desktop in the Windows 10 environment. Two main tools comprise the GSI toolbox. First, the Suitability Index Calculator tool uses thematic or continuous geospatial raster layers to calculate parameter suitability indices based on user-specified habitat relationships. Second, the Overall Suitability Index Calculator combines multiple parameter suitability indices into one overarching index using one or more options, including: arithmetic mean, weighted arithmetic mean, geometric mean, and minimum limiting factor. The resultant output is a raster layer representing habitat suitability values from 0.0 to 1.0, where zero is unsuitable habitat and one is ideal suitability. This report documents the model purpose and development as well as provides a user’s guide for the GSI toolbox.
