Abstract:
<p><em>The use of Virtual Globes and Pictometry continues to expand and develop in undergraduate spatial science education. Spatial science undergraduates measured the area of 30 rectangles on the earth’s surface and compared them to Pictometry hyperspectral imagery measurements within a web-based interface and the Google Earth interface compared to ArcGIS Explorer, Map Developers and ArcMap using the ArcMap 10.5.2 interface. An analysis of variance of the absolute mean area errors (p-value of 0.009271) concluded the accuracy of the five area measurements were statistically different at the 95% confidence interval. A Tukey pair-wise test found that the Pictometry and Google Earth methods were more accurate than the ArcGIS Explorer, Map Developers and ArcMap methods. The lowest standard deviation of errors (72.6 sq. ft.) for Pictometry was the most accurate and precise method for on-screen area measurement, followed by Google Earth (SD = 205.0 sq. ft.). The high variation of area measurement error from ArcMap, Map Developers, and ArcGIS Explorer made them less reliable as an alternative to field measurements with ArcMap the worst (SD = 915.1 sq. ft.). The results indicate that Pictometry and Google Earth could both be used to accurately estimate area using on-screen measurements compared to in situ area measurement assessments. </em></p>

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persebaran tata ruang di Distrik Mariat tahun 2017 dengan menggunakan aplikasi ArcMAP 10.3 serta kesesuaiannya dengan dokumen RTRW Kabupaten Sorong dan Undang-Undang No.26 Tahun 2008 Tentang Penataan Ruang.Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode pengumpulan data antara lain dengan, observasi, studi literatur, pengambilan foto udara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang dihasilkan kemudian diolah dan dianalisis sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Dari hasil analisa distribusi penggunaan lahan tahun 2017 dengan menggunakan aplikasi ArcMAP 10.3 kawasan yang telah terbangun 59% dan kawasan belum terbangun 94,1% yang masih didominasi dengan hutan. Hal ini menunjukkan persebaran tata ruang di Distrik Mariat belum merata dan masih perlu dioptimalkan lagi pembangunannya. Dengan membandingkan antara hasil digitasi pada aplikasi ArcMAP 10.3 dengan Peta Perencanaan Pola Ruang Kabupaten Sorong menunjukkan kondisi tata ruang saat ini belum sepenuhnya mencapai target yang direncanakan. Juga masih adanya penyimpangan-penyimpangan dalam penataan ruang, menunjukkan peraturan zonasi dalam UU 26 Tahun 2007 telah dilanggar

En el presente artículo se presenta una arquitectura de software para integrar archivos base en formato Microsoft Excel con ArcMap, para la automatización del proceso de carga de información geográfica al modelo de almacenamiento geográfico (Geodatabase) requerido en la presentación de Informes de Cumplimiento Ambiental –ICA-. Para lo cual, se tomaron como referencia de prueba cinco feature class con geometría tipo punto contenidos en el modelo ICA. La arquitectura consistió en la aplicación de dos herramientas informáticas: Debug y ArcMap. Debug es un software desarrollado por el equipo colaborador de la presente investigación con el fin de automatizar la creación de los archivos base en formato Microsoft Excel para la carga de información geográfica en la Geodatabase. En ArcMap, se desarrolló un modelo de conversión, espacialización y carga de información geográfica usando la consola de programación ModelBuilder, cuyo objetivo fue la conversión de los archivos de entrada en formato Microsoft Excel a un formato compatible con el software, la espacialización de las entidades geográficas y la incorporación de los feature class dentro de la Geodatabase de un ICA. La metodología se testeo con puntos aleatorios ubicados en el municipio de Medellín usando los cinco feature class del modelo de almacenamiento geográfico. El proceso de carga resultó ser mucho más eficiente y amigable con el usuario final.

Abstract The aim of this study is to reconstitute the changes in the local water cycle and plant habitats occurring in wetlands under anthropic influence. The selected area for the study in this paper is the swamp of Pobłockie Peatbog, located in the catchment area of the river Łeba in northern Poland. The fieldwork was performed in October of 2013. Using ArcMap the hydrographic network of the study area in the years 1837, 1918, 1936, 1976 and 2000 were digitized and represented. Using a LIDAR image, the terrain model for the swamp of Pobłockie Peatbog was generated in ArcMap. This was then used to create a map showing the location of runoff pathways from the waterlogged areas. Long-term drainage and the construction of new drainage ditches have led to the encroachment of bog woodland on the originally treeless swamp of Pobłockie Peatbog.

Abstract:
Although unclassed choropleth maps lead to a more accurate representation of data, grouping of data into classes is still common. Commonly-used data classification techniques such as equal-interval, quantiles, and natural breaks produce very different and possibly misleading representations. An unclassed map creates a distinct color for each unique value. The method was introduced by Tobler in 1973 using an x, y coordinate plotter that created crossed-line shadings. Tobler’s unclassed proposal used grayscale values because color displays were not yet available. Current color monitors have the ability to display 16.7 million colors, while most GIS software packages have limits to their color ramps. QGIS defines color ramps with up to 999 classes. It is also possible to define up to 1000 classes in ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro has an “Unclassed” option when styling choropleth maps. Utilizing more color classes results in a more truthful map due to minimizing error from the grouping of data. The unclassed method is examined here along with color ramps and classification schemes in QGIS and Esri’s ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro. It is demonstrated that it is usually impossible to create a truly unclassed choropleth map using the default color schemes in these programs.

Abstract The number of people seeking public weather service information is growing, making it a challenge for all bureaus of meteorology around the world. Although, in the last decade, routine public weather service information has brought excellent weather forecast information for people and services to people with rapid, accurate, widely available, and easy to grasp information, which they may get in a variety of places, such as a website or an application. However, in this decade and in the future, it will not be enough. People want information such as what the impact should be and how people react to that impact, which should be displayed on a static Geographic Information System (GIS) map in a standard format. We will investigate and create an IBF map based on multi-model ensemble data and National Digital Forecast (NDF) data in this work. Then, using the GIS software ArcMap 10.8.1, we rank and score the geographic disaster data to determine the impact area. To create the effect area, we will employ primary and advanced methods of ArcMap 10.8.1. The information on the IBF map will be immediately understood by stakeholders and users.

A geographic information system (GIS) is a domain that requires users to use various tools to perform different types of spatial modelling. Bivariate statistical analysis (BSA) assists in hazard modelling. To perform this analysis, several calculations are required and the user has to transfer data from one format to another. Most researchers perform these calculations manually by using Microsoft Excel or other programs. This process is time-consuming and carries a degree of uncertainty. The lack of proper tools to implement BSA in a GIS environment prompted this study. In this paper, a user-friendly tool, bivariate statistical modeler (BSM), for BSA technique is proposed. Three popular BSA techniques, such as frequency ratio, weight-of-evidence (WoE), and evidential belief function (EBF) models, are applied in the newly proposed ArcMAP tool. This tool is programmed in Python and created by a simple graphical user interface (GUI), which facilitates the improvement of model performance. The proposed tool implements BSA automatically, thus allowing numerous variables to be examined. To validate the capability and accuracy of this program, a pilot test area in Malaysia is selected and all three models are tested by using the proposed program. Area under curve (AUC) is used to measure the success rate and prediction rate. Results demonstrate that the proposed program executes BSA with reasonable accuracy. The proposed BSA tool can be used in numerous applications, such as natural hazard, mineral potential, hydrological, and other engineering and environmental applications.

Telah dilakukan analisis terhadap distribusi curah hujan yang dipengaruhi oleh dinamika suhu muka laut untuk mengetahui hubungan distribusi curah hujan dan dinamika suhu muka laut di Sulawesi Utara, serta telah dibuat peta spasial hubungan distribusi curah hujan dengan dinamika suhu muka laut menggunakan ArcMap 9.3. Analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan data curah hujan bulanan selama 10 tahun dari 5 stasiun BMKG dan 10 pos hujan kerjasama di Sulawesi Utara, dan data dinamika suhu muka laut berdasarkan nilai Indeks Osilasi Selatan dengan metode korelasi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai korelasi positif antara 0,50 hingga 0,90 terjadi pada periode tiga bulanan yaitu Agustus-September-Oktober pada seluruh wilayah pengamatan.Analysis of the precipitation that caused by the dynamics of sea surface temperature has been made to find the correlation between the precipitation and the dynamics of sea surface temperature, with its spatial map of the correlation between precipitation and the dynamics of sea surface temperature using ArcMap 9.3. The analysis use the monthly rainfall data for 10 years from 5 BMKG Stations and 10 rain-gauge network in North Sulawesi, and Southern Oscillation Index monthly value using correlation method. The result of this research is the positive correlation between 1,50 to 0,90 occur in the period of August-September-October.

Glavni namen članka je prikaz postopka prepoznavanja in klasifikacije geomorfoloških oblik kopastega krasa na štirih različnih območjih v Sloveniji ter na podlagi morfometrične analize podati nove ugotovitve o Dinarskem kopastem krasu. Analiza je potekala s pomočjo programskega orodja ArcMap 10.4.1, kjer smo oblike prepoznali s pomočjo orodja Fill. Avtorja ugotavljata, da je kopasti kras zelo raznolik tip površja, ki se od območja do območja razlikuje. Največji vpliv na oblikovanost vrhov pripisujeta strukturnim geološkim razmeram ter globini vadozne cone.

: Underground thermal energy storage (UTES) systems are well known applications around the world, due to their relation to heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) applications. There are six kinds of UTES systems, they are tank, pit, aquifer, cavern, tubes, and borehole. Apart from the tank, all other kinds are site condition dependent (hydro-geologically and geologically). The aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) system is a widespread and desirable system, due to its thermal features and feasibility. In spite of all the advantages which it possesses, it has not been adopted in very shallow groundwater (less than 2 m depth) regions, till now, due to the susceptibility of the storage efficiency of these systems to the in-site parameters. This paper aims to find a reliable method that can be used to find the best location to install ATES systems. The concept of the suggested method is based on integrating three methods. They are, the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), the DRASTIC index method, and ArcMap/GIS software. The results from this method include a criterion that summarizes the best location to install an ATES system. This criterion is depicted by ArcMap/GIS software, producing raster maps that specify the best location for the storage system. The suggested method can be used to find the best location to install the thermal storage, especially in susceptible aquifers.

Luncuran tanah rendah mengancamzona lebih baik digunakan untuk aktivitas sosial orang. Tanah longsor mengancamzona lebih baik digunakan untuk pertanian tetapi harus mempertimbangkan drainase pada zona tersebutlereng. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui luas perubahan hutan dan lahan pertanian di Kabupaten Gayo Lues dalam kurun waktu 11 tahun, dari tahun 2005 hingga 2015. Teknik yang digunakan yaitu digitasi citra satelit Kabupaten Gayo Lues tahun 2005, 2010 dan 2015 menggunakan ArcMap 10.1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kabupaten Gayo Lues mengalami perubahan hutan menjadi lahan pertanian pada tahun 2005 seluas 2.361,36 ha (0,48%), tahun 2010 seluas 8.823,71 ha (1,83%) dan tahun 2015 seluas 26.301,54 ha (5,56 %). Kabupaten Gayo Lues mengalami perubahan lahan pertanian menjadi non pertanian pada tahun 2005 hingga 2010 seluas 3.641,34 ha (9,05%) dan tahun 2010 hingga 2015 seluas 1.218,31 ha (1,56%).The Changes of Forest and Agricultural Land Use in Gayo Lues DistrictDuring 11 Years (2005-2015)Abstract. The research aim is to learn about the vast changes of forests and agricultural land use in Gayo Lues District within 11 years, from 2005 to 2015. The results showed that Gayo Lues Disrict had changes of forests to agricultural land use in 2005 as much as 2,361.36 hectares or 0.48%, in 2010 as much as 8,823.71 hectares or 1.83% and in 2015 as much as 26,301.54 hectares or 5.56 %. The Gayo Lues District had changes of agricultural to non agricultural land use in 2005 to 2010 as much as 3,641.34 hectares or 5.56 % and in 2010 to 2015 as much as 1,218.31 hectares or 1.56%.

Badanie wykonano na przykładzie mapy Le Duche de Cieszyn (Teschen) Silesie, z zasobu pozostałego po konferencji pokojowej kończącej pierwszą wojnę światową. Oceniono formy prezentacji wyników, oferowane przez twórców aplikacji MapAnalyst, QGIS oraz ArcMap i ArcScene z pakietu ArcGIS. Otrzymane obrazy oceniono pod kątem możliwości interpretacyjnych, tj. wyobrażenia sobie na ich podstawie stopnia deformacji powierzchni i odległości na mapie przez odbiorców niekorzystających na co dzień z kartograficznych metod prezentacji. Wskazano siatkę zniekształceń i wizualizację 3D sumy błędów odległości jako najbardziej użyteczne.

Natural Resources are essential for security and sustainable development of each country. Therefore, in order to reach sustainable development, conservation as well as optimum utilization of natural resources, executing of natural resources cadastral plan is necessary and essential. Governments conduct lands management in Iran, so there is a need for comprehensive plan with arranged program for best evaluation. In this research as a pilot, Pasargadae city is opted. Pasargadae region is located in north-east of Shiraz in Fars province with Latitude and longitude of 30° 15 ́ 53 ̋ N and 53° 13 ́ 29 ̋ E respectively. In order to generate the cadastral maps, Firstly, images from QuickBird satellite with 50-60 centimeters resolution were georeferenced by utilizing ground control points with accurate GPS coordinates. In addition to satellite images, old paper maps with 1:10000 scale in local coordinate system from agriculture ministry in 1963 were digitized according to 1:25000 scale map from army geographical organization with AutoCad software. Beside, paper maps with 1:50000 scale and Google Earth were used to find the changes during time. All the above maps were added to QuickBird images as new layers by using ArcMap software. These maps also were utilized to determine the different land-uses. Thus, by employing ArcMap software lands divide into 2 groups: firstly, lands with official document, which is owned by either natural or legal persons, and secondly national lands under different uses such as forestry, range management and desertification plans. Consequently, the generation of cadastral maps leads to better difference between private and national lands. In addition, producing cadastral maps prevent the destruction and illegal possession of natural lands by individuals.

Urgency of the research. The process of constructing modern forest monitoring systems, the development of technical facilities, high frequency, efficiency and availability of remote sensing materials allow realize the tasks the tasks of effective control of the modern environment. The experience gained by domestic experts allows us to use the results of processing these images to calculate changes in forest areas, determining the types of forests, their species composition and age mainly at the regional level. The deterioration of forests in Ukraine today is one of the most pressing problems, the solution of which is quite effective with the use of modern systems of geosystem environmental monitoring. Target setting. At the current stage of Ukraine's development, there is a problem of monitoring the country's forests, since at the same time, illegal deforestation has increased, which carries threats to the country's ecology and increases the level of corruption and financial losses of the state budget. The estimation of the number of forests of the Pukul village council of Chernihiv oblast was estimated from 2000 to 2017 using the Global Forest Watch service as well as using the ArcMap geodetic software product. After the performed measurements, it is possible to estimate the state of the forest complex of the research site and to propose measures for elimination of the revealed problems. Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. The latest publications on this topic, which are presented in open access, including scientific journals, study guides and data from the global Internet network, were reviewed. Uninvestigated parts of general matters defining. The processes of organization and monitoring of forests should be considered as a single information complex, which makes it possible to assess the state of the country and determine the size of forest plantations and, most importantly, illegal logging, which will affect the environmental and financial situation in the state. And in order to prevent the negative impact of deforestation on the environment, it is necessary to use modern geoinformation software complexes, which allow to estimate the scale of forest areas fairly quickly and precisely and to decide on environmental measures for effective management in forests of Ukraine. The research objective. It is quite effective to use the open system of "Global Forest Watch" for monitoring of forest areas in Ukraine because it enables to determine the chosen site in a certain territory, but the systems do not give data on the areas of each cut area, therefore to get such parameters it is suggested to use the software ArcMap on the basis base map, which enables the data from attribute tables to determine the area of each individual cutting area of the forest. The statement of basic materials. The area of forest plantations with an area of 6200 ha was chosen for forest monitoring in the Chernihiv district of the Pukulsky village council. The monitoring was carried out using the open system "Global Forest Watch", since it enables to determine the amount of forest plantations in the selected area, and then for obtaining more accurate data on the area of forest plantations, the parameters were adapted to the ArcMap software based on the base map, which makes it possible to estimate the area forest areas of cut and planted forest for the selected period of time. Conclusions. Based on the performed researches, it was established that for monitoring of forest plantations in Ukraine it is quite effective to use the open system "Global Forest Watch", which combines data from different sources. This system helps to determine forest areas in the country and their location in the regions of the state. However, in order to improve the accuracy of determining the areas of cuttings and re-planted, it is recommended to use the ArcMap software package, which enables to increase the monitoring of the forest and prevent illegal felling of forest areas.

The object of the presented study was to monitor the changes that had happened in the main features (water, vegetation, and soil) of Al-Hammar Marsh region. To fulfill this goal, different satellite images had been used in different times, MSS 1973, TM 1990, ETM+ 2000, 2002, and MODIS 2009, 2010. A new technique of the unsupervised classification called (Color Extracting Technique) was used to classify the satellite images. MATLAP programming used the technique and separated Al-Hammar Marsh from other water features (rivers, irrigated lands, etc.) when calculated the changes in the water content of the study region. ArcGIS 9.3 (arcMAP, arcToolbox) were used to achieve this work and calculate area of each class.

This Hamilton, Ontario today displays stark socioeconomic disparities in health which pattern along north/south lines within the city. Diphtheria provides a useful lens for examining the historical nature of these socioeconomic disparities. Data were collected from death registrations for the period 1900 to 1921 and 321 deaths were mapped in ArcMap. Diphtheria mortality rates were higher in the north overall; however, no difference was found for the 5–16 year age group (school age). Higher mortality in children under age five in the north due to factors associated with low SES may explain the differing rates. These results demonstrate the social inequalities in health that existed in early-twentieth century Hamilton and their geographic dimension.

The analysis of annual mean maximum and annual mean minimum temperature data are studied in GIS environment, obtained from 34 meteorological stations scattered throughout the Bangladesh from 1948 to 2013. IDW method was used for the spatial distribution of temperature over the study area, using ArcGIS 10.2 software. Possible trends in the spatially distributed temperature data were examined, using the non-parametric Mann-Kendall method with statistical significance, and the magnitudes of available trends were determined using Sen’s method in ArcMap depiction. I aimed to support conservation activities by addressing knowledge of the status of Aloe dhufarensis Lavranos, one of the endemic plants in the Arabian Peninsula. Information on the status and distribution range of A. dhufarensis in the Arabian Peninsula is almost absent. To Assess A. dhufarensis according to IUCN categories, Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO) were created and measured using ArcMap 10.8. The species is described and illustrated; the distribution of the species was mapped. The evaluation and the conservation status of this plant species are reported according to the context of IUCN Red List guidelines and criteria.

Abstract. Land cover change is critical to be monitored as land cover change has significant impacts on flooding, ground water recharge, and urban air temperature. In this paper, key findings from a land cover change analysis study performed in the State of California are presented. National Land Cover Database (NLCD) data from the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics Consortium (MRLC) was used for this study. Time series of NLCD data during the time period of 2001 through 2016 was used for the analysis. NLCD data processing was done in ArcMap 10.6.1. This paper includes the methodology in detail, and the results of the analysis. Results of the study indicate a significant increase in impervious surfaces, and a significant decrease in forest land cover.

Abstract Evaluation of the vulnerability of agricultural land by water erosion, including the erosion control measures design, was done using the geographic information systems (GIS) on example of the cadastral area Rovečné, the Czech Republic. Analytical operations that lead to evaluation of the basic runoff and especially erosion rates according to the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) were made in ArcGIS 10 Desktop, the software product ArcInfo using a set of integrated software applications ArcMap, ArcCatalog and user interface ArcToolbox, and also using programs LS-converter and USLE2D. The potential loss of soil by water erosion was determined before and after erosion control measures design. Purpose This paper aims to detail the use of ESRs ArcMap in the undergraduate history classroom, as an example of pedagogical inquiry and as a method for integrating digital humanities (DH) tools and methods directly into humanities research and pedagogy. Design/methodology/approach This class is an example of pedagogical inquiry and a method for integrating DH tools and methods directly into humanities research and pedagogy. Findings With this approach, students see the immediate application of DH to traditional humanities objects of study and aid these in the pursuit of innovative research questions and methods. Originality/value The use of DH in traditional humanities classrooms as a central concept with experts from the libraries integrated into course design and project planning is unique and is a model that could be implemented at other institutions.

Abstract:
This research was conducted at Anawai Cave Site, located in Bendewuta Village, Oheo District, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This study aims to determine the typology of handprint motifs in the Anawai Cave Site. The primary data collection method was carried out by field observations by making a site location map, recording rock image data. The map of this site location was processed with the Geographic Information System (GIS) method and using of ArcMap 10.7. Besides, The rock art images are processed using the Image J and Adobe Illustrator software to sharpen the colors of the mages that have been damaged. Data were classified using taxonomic methods to produce a typology of handprint motifs. The results showed that the most dominant form of hand stamp motifs was the hand stamp without wrist or arm.

By using imbalance thrust force method, the slope stability factor based on three-dimensional slide block was deduced. According to the borehole data of highway, the TIN data layer and grid data layer for three-dimensional slope stability analysis were carried out by use of ArcMap. The value of each gird cell of different layers are picked up as slide block, it makes convenience in the slope stability analysis. Considering the property of bedding landslide, the three-dimensional slope stability analysis program based on VBA of ArcGIS is put forward in this paper. Taking one of the large rocky landslides as an example, the results of the three-dimensional stability analysis with slope before and after excavation, as well as the different water level conditions are compared. Furthermore, the directive significance of the three-dimensional method in landslide harness engineering was discussed.

Abstract:
Morfometri pada DAS merupakan ukuran kuantitatif karakteristik DAS yang terkait dengan aspek geomorfologi suatu daerah. Morfometri DAS juga digunakan untuk menyatakan keadaan jaringan alur sungai secara kuantitatif. Keadaan yang dimaksud antara lain meliputi aspek linier, aspek area dan aspek relief. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui karakteristik DAS berdasarkan morfometri di DAS Muari Kabupaten Manokwari Selatan. Metode yang digunakan didapatkan dari pengolahan citra DEM-SRTM dan dipadukan dengan peta RBI melalui aplikasi ArcGIS (ArcMap 10.3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa DAS Muari terdiri dari 5 orde sungai dengan luas DAS 78.8 km2 (7880 ha), keliling DAS 44.7 km, kerapatan drainase 2.25, frekuensi sungai 3.2, tekstur drainase 5.7, rasio lingkaran 0.50, faktor bentuk 3,29, rasio elongasi 2.05 dan rasio relief 0.4. Berdasarkan analisis morfometri, DAS Muari dikategorikan DAS sangat kecil, memiliki bentuk sungai yang memanjangdan memiliki relief yang tidak curam
