Full textLambayeque is a northern department that is characterized by its ancestral culture. The Sicán civilization developed there, and therefore, inherited a tradition of craftsmanship that continues to develop today. However, there is not an adequate equipment to exhibit and commercialize handicrafts. Also, the deficient distribution and location of centers of artisan sale has caused the devaluation of this activity. On the other hand, the artisans of Lambayeque are affected by the rains of the Niño Costero which has caused the loss of their workshops, work tools and access to raw materials. According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Perú (MINCETUR), 266 artisans were affected in the region .Therefore, the state is developing a containment and investment plan for the recovery of their workplaces. Likewise, in Lambayeque there are 3 993 artisans written in the National Registry of the Artisan this means that the activity is profitable and it is the sustenance of many families. Therefore, this research is based on the study of the markets of artisan production in order to determine the adequate functioning and design, since most of them are spaces that have been adapted for this activity. Jointly applying the principles of Regionalist Architecture for the integration and architectural interpretation of Lambayeque, the development of a cultural market will be achieved.

Full textThe project starts with the aim of raising awareness among citizens for the recovery and rehabilitation of this place of the Historic Centre of Lima. The one who is a about to lose the category of world heritage site, granted by UNESCO since 1991. Insomuch as 83% of its inmovable heritage at risk of collapse. Currently, iconic buildings such as “The Ship”, Republican-style mansions and valuable buildings that shape the monumental urban environment have disappeared, that was caused by a collapse or fire, causing the selling the land to create werehouses that destroy the overall image of this historic area. This loss of inmovable heritage is connected to the loss of intangible cultural heritage. Barrios Altos is the cradle of criolla music, writers and artists, however that is being forgotten over time. The project located in the Barrios Altos centre, Quinta Heeren, wants to reconect the population with their history, through an emphasis on critical regionalism, in order to the new architecture shall adapts to the surrounding historical environment. This way the place values are emphasized and the urban image is respected.

Full textLa tesis surge de una previa sistematización e inventario del fondo documental del arquitecto mallorquín, Guillem Reynés Font (Palma, 1877-1918), que ha conservado hasta la fecha su nieto, también arquitecto, Guillermo Reynés Corbella, quien lo ha convertido en tema de la tesis doctoral. Partiendo de esa labor importante de clasificación, tanto de documentos escritos como de planimetrías y fotografías de época, se crea la metodología para elaborar este estudio y presentar al personaje principal no solo como un arquitecto fecundo que fue, sino también en su faceta humana. En este aspecto no se olvida al joven (falleció a los cuarenta y dos años) con inquietudes interrumpidas, como tampoco al hombre con vocación que quiso seguir además las huellas de su propio padre, el maestro de obras Gaspar Reynés. Por este motivo se dedica la primera parte (capítulos II y III) a la biografía y a la faceta del Reynés Font estudiante, tanto en las Escuelas de Arquitectura de Barcelona como de Madrid, trayendo a colación, gracias a las cartas que dirige a su familia, sus vivencias en ambas ciudades a comienzos del siglo XX y sus encuentros con los arquitectos amigos o maestros del momento. A los veintiocho años dio comienzo una vida laboral inagotable que queda plasmada en el capítulo IV desarrollada con el título de Ejercicio profesional. Aquí se exponen por orden cronológico de intervenciones, sus diferentes obras en la arquitectura civil privada, la administración provincial, y el obispado, en los diferentes pueblos de las islas Baleares y, sobre todo, en la capital de Mallorca. Su compromiso con la restauración del patrimonio, sobre todo en el centro histórico de Palma, aportando levantamientos de edificios y monumentos es clave, en la actualidad, para entender el estado de conservación que presentaban a comienzos del siglo XX. En su intuitiva concepción de la historicidad arquitectónica, unida a la defensa de la lengua vernácula se halla el hilo conductor que le llevará a desembocar en su concepción del regionalismo. El capítulo V recoge la vinculación de Reynés Font a la corriente regionalista y cuáles son los trabajos que más la representa. La exposición aquí está abierta a la disertación teórica; discurriendo por unos cauces en que la utopía, realidad, tradición y modernidad conducen, o mejor dicho llevan a suponer, que para Guillem Reynes no era ilusorio identificar el regionalismo arquitectónico como una forma de modernidad. El trabajo se amplía con un anexo del archivo de las actuaciones conservadas de Reynés Font por islas (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza) y, en cada una de ellas, las ciudades que tienen huellas de su creación edilicia.

Full textLa present tesi és un estudi sobre la realitat arquitectònica de Barcelona, entre 1949 i 1964, la qual adapta el seu modus operandi de l’imaginari arquitectònic milanès, i que es caracteritza substancialment per la voluntat de recuperació de la història –perduda amb la dictadura-, la connexió de l’individu amb el seu jo més intern, i per la consciència de pertinença al context mediterrani. Les vicissituds de l’acomodació duta a terme pels arquitectes de la ciutat comtal, en especial del Grup R, i tot admirant els homòlegs milanesos Rogers, Gardella i Albini, dóna lloc a l’expressió d’un gènere que és específic d’aquest territori mediterrani i només durant el període històric tractat: el Regionalisme Crític Mediterrani. El concepte Regionalisme Crític és entès per Kenneth Frampton, el seu teoritzador, com una actitud que en cap cas pot ser considerada un estil en tant que la seva raó de ser li ho impedeix; és aplicable a qualsevol interstici que pertanyi a un context descentralitzat i per això se’l pot tractar de genèric. El Regionalisme Crític Mediterrani, en canvi, per la seva pertinença a un lloc físic concret, determinat i únic, pren força i va més enllà de la categoria crítica. La importància que per aquest regionalisme té l’estudi del context –històric, geogràfic, cultural i socio-polític-, així com la detecció de les necessitats reals i concretes de l’ésser humà que hi habita –l’ésser-en-el-lloc heideggerià-, transforma un concepte que podria ser estrictament arquitectònic en quelcom interdisciplinari. Així, l’estudi del pensament arquitectònic, de la situació socio-política, de l’anàlisi topogràfica, dels vincles entre els arquitectes d’ambdues ciutats, i de l’observació metodològica de les seves obres, ha permès al Regionalisme Crític Mediterrani detectar un canvi de paradigma respecte dels gèneres arquitectònics que s’havien considerat o, fins i tot, imposat, fins llavors.

Full textO turismo, na qualidade de fenómeno, constitui um factor de desenvolvimento económico, sobretudo em áreas rurais, onde o impacto da actual crise económica se faz sentir com maior intensidade. Esta investigação pretende compreender a relação e o valor da arquitectura na concepção de novos produtos turísticos nestas regiões. Para essa análise torna-se fundamental o entendimento dos novos paradigmas do turismo, nomeadamente do turismo pós-moderno e do turismo rural; ao mesmo tempo, estabelece-se uma abordagem a conceitos no âmbito da arquitectura, como a ideologia e a fenomenologia do lugar, o regionalismo crítico e a arquitectura vernacular. Para a concretização deste estudo foi seleccionada a Herdade dos Almendres, situada na União das Freguesias de Nª Sra. da Tourega e Nª Sra. de Guadalupe em Évora, sendo o objectivo primordial a introdução de uma nova oferta turística. Além de toda a pesquisa, que constitui suporte bibliográfico ao trabalho, realizaram-se análises sobre a morfologia e valores deste território que estabeleceram uma fundação conceptual consistente para a elaboração da proposta de intervenção. A proposta possui duas vertentes: o Touring Cultural e Paisagístico da Tourega, um conjunto de circuitos patrimoniais temáticos; e o Núcleo Turístico dos Almendres, um complexo turístico que engloba diversos elementos programáticos: o edifício Turismo dos Almendres, onde se instalam os serviços, um health center, um espaço expositivo e uma adega; o restaurante Monte do Escrivão, um equipamento que surge da reabilitação de uma ruina pré-existente; e as Casas do Monte, um conjunto de unidades turísticas constituído por cinco tipologias que procuram uma reinterpretação da habitação alentejana. Assente nas três premissas base de um produto turístico (alojamento, serviços e actividades), o projecto tenta apreender a essência e os valores da região, procurando assim respeitar e potenciar a ruralidade do lugar, ao mesmo tempo que imprime um sentido de contemporaneidade.
ABSTRACT : Tourism, as a phenomenon, is a factor of economic development, especially in rural areas, where the impact of the current economic crisis is felt with greater intensity. This investigation aims to understand the relationship and the value of architecture in the design of new touristic products in these regions. For this analysis becomes essential the understanding of the new paradigms of tourism, in particular postmodern tourism and rural tourism, while at the same time establishing an approach to concepts in the scope of architecture, such as ideology and phenomenology of place, critical regionalism and vernacular architecture. For the achievement of this study the Homestead of Almendres was selected ; it is located in the Union of Parishes of Nª Sra. da Tourega and Nª Sra. de Guadalupe in Évora. The primary objective is the introduction of a new tourist offer. Besides the research, which is the bibliographic support for the work, an analysis was conducted on the morphology and values of that territory. Both approaches established a consistent conceptual foundation for the elaboration of the proposed intervention. The proposal has two aspects: the Cultural and Scenic Touring of Tourega, a set of thematic patrimonial circuits; and the Tourist Core of the Almendres, a tourist complex which encompasses various programmatic elements. These comprise the Tourism of the Almendres building, where are located the services for the whole of the facilities, a health center, an exhibition space and a wine cellar; the restaurant Monte do Escrivão, a pre-existing ruin rehabilitation; and the houses of Monte, a set of tourist units consisting of five typologies that are a reinterpretation of the Alentejo traditional houses. Based on three basic premises of a touristic product (accommodation, services and activities), the project attempts to capture the essence and values of the region. It thus seeks to respect and enhance the rurality of the place, at the same time that it proposes a sense of contemporaneity.

A troca de informações entre diferentes realidades artísticas e culturais surge como um princípio fundamental para a distinção entre civilizações e respetivas regiões, pois só reconhecendo a própria identidade cultural é que nos tornamos conscientes das demais. A arquitetura emerge como meio que contribui para a materialização deste fenómeno. Ao longo da história da arquitetura emergem inúmeras práticas arquitetónicas associadas a este fenómeno. No entanto, o presente estudo dedica-se a quatro obras de diferentes arquitetos, de diferentes contextos culturais, que pretendem distinguir uma identidade arquitetónica íntegra em pleno século XX. Desse modo, propõe-se em primeiro lugar, um estudo da evolução do pensamento arquitetônico segundo esse sentido, seguido de contextos culturais e obras de arquitetos que se enquadram nas diferentes gerações da modernidade e que demonstram diferentes interpretações deste fenómeno de cruzamento de culturas na génese da sua prática. Procura-se entender o que levou vários arquitetos a adotar este fenómeno, e como o fizeram de modo consistente, distinguindo-os de práticas e metodologias que condicionam o bom funcionamento da arquitetura enquanto ferramenta fundamental para o quotidiano do homem.
The exchange of information, that exists between different cultural and artistic realities, is one of the fundamental principles that establish the distinction between different civilizations and their regions. Only by recognizing our own cultural identity one will be aware of the many cultures that surround us. The architecture emerges as a mean that contributes to the materialization of this phenomenon. Throughout the history of architecture, there are many examples of these architectural practices associated with this phenomenon. Nevertheless, this study will focus on four architectural works of four architects, from different cultural contexts, which try to distinguish their architectural identity during the XX century. Firstly, it is proposed a study of the evolution of the architectural thinking, followed by a cultural context and architectural works. These examples belong to different generations of modernity and each one of them evidences a different interpretation of the cultural crossing phenomenon in architecture. In this thesis, one aims to grasp the reason why some architects decided to adopt this movement, and how they use it in a consistent way in their work, differentiating from other practices and methodologies, that condition the good functioning of architecture as a fundamental tool in every day of mankind.

Habitamos um mundo em que cada vez mais as diferenças entre culturas, povos e países tendem a esbater-se. Como resultado desta inevitabilidade, assistimos constantemente à contaminação de hábitos em prol de uma sociedade mundial uniforme, culminando na perda de identidade e de pertença entre pessoas e seus lugares. Nesta dissertação, pretendemos perceber qual o papel da arquitetura neste panorama. Como se tem comportado ao longo da história e qual a viabilidade de uma resposta atual e eficaz na preservação da individualidade dos lugares, sem que com isso se perca as virtudes de um futuro tecnologicamente evoluído e preocupado com a sustentabilidade dos nossos atos. Encaramos por isso a viabilidade de uma arquitetura capaz potenciar o desenvolvimento territorial. Com a intenção de relacionar estes assuntos, aprofundamos o estudo do regionalismo em arquitetura em função da apresentação de dois arquitetos cujo trabalho contribui positivamente para uma perspetiva atual destas matérias.
We inhabit a world in which more and more the differences between cultures, peoples and countries tend to fade. As a result of this almost inevitability, we constantly witness to the contamination of habits towards a uniform world society, culminating in the loss of identity and belonging between people and their places. In this dissertation we intend to understand the role of architecture in this panorama. How has it behaved throughout history and what is the feasibility of a current and effective response in preserving the individuality of places, without losing the virtues of a technologically advanced future and concerned with the sustainability of our actions. We therefore consider the feasibility of an architecture capable of fostering territorial development. With the intention of relating these subjects, we deepen the study of regionalism in architecture in function of the presentation of two architects whose work contributes positively to a current perspective of these subjects.

Full textThis work aims to study the culture as an essential element of architectural language, having developed a series of articles that form this thesis, which aims to make the base for a possible understanding of how we have gone from a culture of canons, to a mixed culture. Globalization may be the main driver for the current result, because today there are no boundaries and the information is no longer contained but free to roam the territory and who manifest interest in her. The scope of this study included a review of the knowledge that began with the recognition in situ, various environments used to understand as well as reading and analysis of articles, books and even images. This work is intended to be as a question about the identity issue and their behavior in the contemporary territory. This, viewed by many as a collection of fragments coupled to a decay and by others as an opportunity field where the possibility isn’t a mere illusion. The research focuses on a mental construction attempt in the reader, where it will be able to get a better understanding of the contemporary territory and its integrated metamorphoses not only in the past as well today’s - considered in the most relevant part for the present and future of societies.4 Even to speak about quite disparate themes, tried to demonstrate a humanistic concern for the organization of space in general, whether in urban or architectural scale. The main interest is the study of events in which man organizes it’s space, be it a primitive hut or the contemporary city. Over the texts, they expose the "symbolic" content of societies and cities, cultural, religious, psychological, and especially the symbolism of the resulting forms. In clear opposition to the Charter of Athens, intended to eliminate the differences and conflicts of the modern city, it is precisely when it does focus the theme of this work - the identity issue. For J. Rykwert these differences and, or regional/national peculiarities, are exactly what make cities most seductive places.5 An attempt is made as soon as the "Modern" is ubiquitous concept for the interpretation of the whole dissertation, since it focuses on him the importance of having done hinge, in many cultures, between the vernacular and the modern, and consequently, today, contemporary. The changes occurring in the territory are analyzed as the result of a range of actors, both private and public - in a way, the "drivers" of growth of cities. The relationship, always difficult, between these two agents, along with immigration/emigration, searching for a better home, summon the architecture for an answer and consequently necessarily new architecture. In the past was asked to architects,6 a quick and rational response. These authors, more than a stylistic solution, responded with an urban perspective - a view that in addition to solving a problem contained an ideological component. Today, the problem focuses on the lack of a model of order/beauty to generate an understanding of the local identity, and unity of the people. He realized that in fact that it’s understood that the situation in the cities today, there could be no centralization in a model, as in the past, but precisely the difference that Rykwert advocates as beautiful and correct. At the end, concern is focused on pointing a possible uncontrolled, since the absence of a template there is no control beyond aristocratic bureaucracy and, in some cases, corrupt. The present and future occupy the last chapters, of the theme set, and then holds its theoretical centrality, thus making the summation and analysis of previous articles, in order to generate the focus on the theme of identity issue in its complexity and misunderstanding.
