Abstract: The CJEU reaffirms its established case law on Art. 22(4) Brussels I Regulation (No. 44/2001) and interprets the provision narrowly. Courts in member states in which patents, trade marks, designs, or similar rights that are required to be deposited or registered, have jurisdiction only in cases that are actually concerned with the registration or validity of these IP rights. A case concerned with the potential ownership of such rights falls within the general provision of Art. 2(1) Brussels I and, therefore, is to be brought before courts in the member state where the defendant is do

AbstractThe signature on Rembrandt's little sketch of Saskia in silver point on parchment, bearing the date '8 juni 1633', has long been a source of puzzlement. For how can Rembrandt's remarks - that Saskia was his wife and that on June 8 of that year the couple had been married for three days - be reconciled with the true date of their wedding, June 22 1634, recorded in the register of marriages of Sint-Annaparochie in Friesland? There is however an explanation for the mystifying caption. First, Rembrandt had written that Saskia was 21 years old. Her baptism was registered on August 2 1612, s

Abstract BACKGROUND Based on EF-14 clinical trial, NovoTTF therapy prolong overall survival in the patients with GBM. However, NovoTTF treatment does not become standard therapy because treatment procedures are cumbersome and potentially impose psychological burden on patients who suffer from dismal disease. In our institution, we can choose NovoTTF therapy as one of the treatment options for GBM patients since June 2018. In this report, we summarized primary experience of this novel treatment. According to post-non-classical psychology, the values of mass consciousness act as a guideline for the moral behavior of the individual. This is especially important for a specialist whose work depends on the formation of professional and ethical principles of their personality. Deontological principles develop during training. The substantial characteristics of one’s self-image also develop at university. They approach the values of mass consciousness, which are the universal regulator of any form of human activity. The research featured the development of students' value orientations and th

Abstract. Biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) are emitted into the atmosphere by plants and include isoprene, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and their oxygenated derivatives. These BVOCs are among the principal factors influencing the oxidative capacity of the atmosphere in forested regions. BVOC emission rates are often measured by collecting samples onto adsorptive cartridges in the field and then transporting these samples to the laboratory for chromatographic analysis. One of the most commonly used detectors in chromatographic analysis is the flame ionization detector (FID). For qua

The aim of this study is to theoretically investigate the sensitivity of the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) operational (version 22) Dark Water retrieval algorithm to aerosol non-sphericity over the global oceans under actual observing conditions, accounting for current algorithm assumptions. Non-spherical (dust) aerosol models, which were introduced in version 16 of the MISR aerosol product, improved the quality and coverage of retrievals in dusty regions. Abstract. Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and Ångström exponent (AE) values derived with the MODIS retrieval algorithm over land (Collection 5) are compared with ground based sun photometer measurements at eleven sites spanning the globe. Although, in general, total AOD compares well at these sites (R2 values generally over 0.8), there are cases (from 2 to 67% of the measurements depending on the site) where MODIS clearly retrieves the wrong spectral dependence, and hence, an unrealistic AE value. Some of these poor AE retrievals are due to the aerosol signal being too small (total AOD < 0.3) b
