Abstract:
The National Institute of Science and the Arts, founded in 1795, consists of parallel academies, concerned with science, literature, the visual arts and so on. In the nineteenth century it represented a unique government-sponsored intellectual authority and a supreme court judgement, a power which came to be resented by innovators of all kinds. The Académie des sciences held a virtual monopoly in representing French science but soon this came to be challenged. In the period of the Second Empire (1852–70) we find a group of men carving out a new career for themselves as professional popularizers of science, commissioned to write regular articles in newspapers and journals. Although they had begun by simply reporting the meetings of the Académie des sciences, they soon widened their scope and even began criticizing the august Académie. Thus they represented the alternative voice of science, distinct from ‘official science’. These independent writers had their counterpart in painting and literature, both of which were developing radical new approaches in mid-century. When the very traditional Fine Art Academy refused to consider their paintings, painters like Cézanne and Manet found an alternative outlet. Writers too asserted their independence from the Académie française. There were not only many parallels between the independent practitioners in science, painting and literature but also new schools of ‘naturalism’ in painting and literature which looked to science as a model.

Nowadays, there are many well proved, effective processes to solve planning tasks in the field of material handling used advanced calculations forms and software. Unfortunately, most of them are used for individual tasks, so the applicability of their results is limited. The Institute of Logistics of the University of Miskolc has been working on integrated planning of handling machines for decades, where the individual planning tasks have to be solved together in a complex process. The main aim of this paper to give an overview about the state of the art of the planning of material handling, based on a literature review of the Science Direct publication database. As a result of this research we can determine some new direction for the planning of material handling.

Abstract:
This paper examines the growth and development of the literature of “environmental communication” research. The paper collects citations of all papers matching specified keywords covering environmental communication topics in the social science journal literature from relevant indices. The indices used were: the Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI) Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science), the ISI Arts and Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science), Communication Abstracts, PsycINFO, Anthropological Literature, Sociology Abstracts and Periodical Abstracts (Pro-Quest Direct). The paper analyzes the collected citations for journal of publication, date, and frequency of publication by year, author, and keywords and topics. The paper shows what topics of attention, what fields, and what journals have been interested in publishing environmental communication research, and some of the authors leading the way. In addition, basic topics of interest for environmental communication research are discerned. The literature review shows the need for a more centralized point of publication for environmental communication research.

Education has always been socially conditioned. On the one hand, everything that happens in society necessarily reflects on the education process, and on the other hand, all changes in education cause changes in society. Baština journal, which used to be published by the Institute for the Study of Culture of Serbs, Montenegrins, Croats and Muslims in Priština from 1991 to 1997, and by the Institute for Serbian Culture in Priština since 1998, which has now been based in Leposavić since 1999, publishes papers in the field of social and humanistic sciences. These papers most often discuss topics in the field of Literature, History, History of Culture, Ethnology, Political Science and Sociology, and occasionally in the field of Ethnomusicology, Demography, Archeology, Art, Art History, Language, Literature and Aesthetics, while one journal issue published a special topic - Vladeta Vuković's Works. The journal has so far also included Discussions and Review, Chronicles and Composition. In this paper, the coauthors investigate the representation of education-related topics, as well as the character, scope and intensity of these topics in the Baština Journal from the first edition in 1991 to the latest edition in 2020. A retrospective study of scientific and professional papers showed that a total of 63 papers were published that directly and indirectly study education, primarily in the field of the history of pedagogy, general pedagogical topics and other education-related issues. These topics were mostly published within the History of Culture pillar. As a separate topic, Education was present only in two issues in 2007 and in one issue in 2009 and in the last two issues in 2020 within the Pedagogy course.

Abstract:
The paper discusses the content of one of the largest folklore archives in Russia belonging to the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Systematic work of collecting folklore, carried out for more than 100 years, contributed to the creation of archives reflecting the historical events of an entire era. In the 1930s a new historical period began, giving life to the new forms of epic art — the so-called “novinas,” held in the Archive. During the Great World War, prisoners of the Finnish concentration camps created the so-called pieces of camp folklore, reviving the genre of lamentation. In the postwar period, researches were urged to deal with “Soviet” folklore, and not with the “frozen” forms of folk art. The archival materials collected among the representatives of deported people — Ingrian Finns — bear witness of the historical time. In the second half of the 20th century ideological pressure in the folkloristic studies continued, as superstitions and prejudices were sought to be eradicated, and the collection of folklore reflecting folk religious beliefs was not welcomed.

Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary and rapidly expanding field, devoted to the scientific study of the nervous system. The growth in neurosciences, in the past two decade, in terms of research scientists, specialized departments with state-of-the-art infrastructure, and institutes with research facilities has been impressive. This main aim of this paper is to study quantitatively the literature published on Neuro sciences by using the bibliographic database namely Scopus. The objective of this paper is to examine the overall production of scientific articles in Neuroscience research during the period 1986-2015 in worldwide. The study finds that the total number of publications is between 100 and 1000 per year for the first fifteen years of study i.e. 1986-2000, more than 1000 but below 1500 during 2001 and 2004 and more than 3000 for the further study period 2005-2015.

Abstract:
Giovanni Battista Monteggia was born in Laverne on the 8th of August 1762. Monteggia started his education in the School of Surgery at the Hospital Maggiore in Milano in 1779. This hospital was called ?Big House? and it is one of the oldest medical institutions in Italy. He passed exam in surgery in 1781. Monteggia was promoted to assistant at surgery in Maggiore hospital in 1790. He was among the first who gave a complete clinical description of polio. He described traumatic hip dislocation and special forearm fracture which was named after him. Strictly speaking, a Monteggia fracture is a fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with an anterior dislocation of the radial head. Monteggia became a member of the renewed Institute of Science, Literature and Art in Milano in 1813.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper examines the Art Institute of Chicago – a nationally recognized museum – as a white sanctuary, i.e., a white institutional space within a racialized social system that serves to reassure whites of their dominant position in society. The purpose of this paper is to highlight how museums create and maintain white spaces within the greater context of being an institution for the general public. Design/methodology/approach The empirical analysis of this study is based on collaborative ethnographic data collected over a three-year period of time conducted by the first two authors, and consists of hundreds of photos and hundreds of hours of participant observations and field notes. The data are analyzed using descriptive methods and content analyses. Findings The findings highlight three specific racial mechanisms that speak to how white spaces are created, recreated and maintained within nationally and internationally elite museums: spatiality, the policing of space, and the management of access. Research limitations/implications Sociological research on how white spaces are maintained in racialized organizations is limited. This paper extends to museums’ institutional role in maintaining white supremacy, as white sanctuaries. Originality/value This paper adds to the existing literature on race, place and space by highlighting three specific racial mechanisms in museum institutions that help to maintain white supremacy, white normality(ies), and serve to facilitate a reassurance to whites’ anxieties, fears and fragilities about their group position in society – that which helps to preserve their psychological wages of whiteness in safe white spaces.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a disease that affects millions of people globally and affects almost all the body systems including bone metabolism. Derangement of bone mineral density (BMD) in HIV patients is well established in international literature but least studied in India. Therefore, this study aims to determine the association between BMD change and HIV infection with or without antiretroviral therapy (ART) and compare the different regimens of ART. Materials and Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Medicine and ART Center of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, India. A total of 50 HIV patients were screened by a central dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) examination for measuring BMD. Correlation of BMD with a CD4 count, and different ART regimens were also studied. Results In our study, majority of the patients (29 [58%]) had low BMD. Of the 29 patients, 18 (36%) had osteopenia and 11 (22%) had osteoporosis. Of the ART naïve patients, 81.8% have reduced BMD. Among different ART regimens, tenofovir-based regimes were mostly associated with low BMD (52.4%). A statistically significant association between low CD4 count and low BMD was found. Conclusion Our study concluded that HIV infection is associated with bone loss and low BMD in people living with HIV (PLHIV) irrespective of its treatment with ART. PLHIV are at a greater risk of bone loss secondary to decreased BMD. Among the ART regimens, tenofovir-based regimens are mostly associated with low BMD. Therefore, all HIV patients should be screened by DEXA scan for BMD status, and timely intervention should be started.

The article explores the period of reviving the art of calligraphy and handwritten book art in the Tatar culture, which falls on the end of the XIX century and is associated with the names of A. Makhmudov and Sh. Tagirov. The authors of the article presented the genesis and revealed the stages of calligraphy and hand-written book art formation in the culture of the Tatars. The article provides an art criticism analysis of the manuscript book art works included in the creative heritage of A. Makhmudov and Sh. Tagirov. A contrastive-comparative analysis led to a conclusion that the traditions of Iranian, Turkish and Dagestanian handwritten book art which were processed by Kazan calligraphers. That allowed them to develop local traditions of handwritten art. The study is based on the analysis of collections of manuscript monuments, including paperwork (khan labels) and books (of religious, scientific, literary and artistic content) from the collections of the Department of Manuscript and Rare Books of Kazan Federal University’s N.I. Lobachevsky Scientific Library, the Center for Written and Musical Heritage of G. Ibragimov Institute of the Language, Literature and Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the Republic of Tatarstan National Library, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the National Archives of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Graphics Department of the Republic of Tatarstan State Museum of Fine Arts. The article is based on a comprehensive study of the material; to conduct the analysis, analytical methods of research have been applied. The priority is given to the classical comparative-historical method which includes synchronous and diachronous analysis. In addition, general scientific art and cultural studies methods and approaches were implemented: the genetic one, for instance, allows making a diachronous section and tracing the process of book art formation.

BackgroundMental health problems account for almost half of all ill health in people under 65 years. The majority are non-psychotic (e.g. depression, anxiety and phobias). For some people, art therapy may provide more profound and long-lasting healing than more standard forms of treatment, perhaps because it can provide an alternative means of expression and release from trauma. As yet, no formal evaluation of art therapy for non-psychotic mental health disorders has been conducted.AimThis review aimed to evaluate evidence for the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of art therapy for non-psychotic mental health disorders.MethodsComprehensive literature searches for studies examining art therapy in populations with non-psychotic mental health disorders were performed in major health-related and social science bibliographic databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), PsycINFO, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database (AMED) and Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts (ASSIA) from inception up to May 2013. A quantitative systematic review of clinical effectiveness, a qualitative review to explore the acceptability, relative benefits and potential harms, and a cost–utility analysis of studies evaluating cost-effectiveness of art therapy were conducted.ResultsIn the quantitative review, 15 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were included (n = 777). Meta-analysis was not possible because of clinical heterogeneity and insufficient comparable data on outcome measures across studies. A narrative synthesis reports that art therapy was associated with significant positive changes relative to the control group in mental health symptoms in 10 out of the 15 studies. The control groups varied between studies but included wait-list/no treatment, attention placebo controls and psychological therapy comparators. Four studies reported improvement from baseline but no significant difference between groups. One study reported that outcomes were more favourable in the control group. The quality of included RCTs was generally low. In the qualitative review, 12 cohort studies were included (n = 188 service users;n = 16 service providers). Themes relating to benefits of art therapy for service users included the relationship with the therapist, personal achievement and distraction. Areas of potential harms were related to the activation of emotions that were then unresolved, lack of skill of the art therapist and sudden termination of art therapy. The quality of included qualitative studies was generally low to moderate. In the cost-effectiveness review, a de novo model was constructed and populated with data identified from the clinical review. Scenario analyses were conducted allowing comparisons of group art therapy with wait-list control, group art therapy with group verbal therapy, and individual art therapy versus control. Art therapy appeared cost-effective compared with wait-list control with high certainty, although generalisability to the target population was unclear. Verbal therapy appeared more cost-effective than art therapy but there was considerable uncertainty and a sizeable probability that art therapy was more clinically effective. The cost-effectiveness of individual art therapy was uncertain and dependent on assumptions regarding clinical benefit and duration of benefit.ConclusionsFrom the limited available evidence, art therapy was associated with positive effects when compared with a control in a number of studies in patients with different clinical profiles, and it was reported to be an acceptable treatment and was associated with a number of benefits. Art therapy appeared to be cost-effective compared with wait-list but further studies are needed to confirm this finding as well as evidence to inform future cost-effective analyses of art therapy versus other treatments.Study registrationThe study is registered as PROSPERO CRD42013003957.FundingThe National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment programme.

The author of the article shares information about the methodology of Akhmet Baitursynov – the largest person who occupies a special place in the political and cultural life of the Kazakh society in the first decades of the twentieth century. Ahmet Baitursynuly is the spiritual leader of his people, a wise son who "sows the seeds of honesty". He is a co-owner who has worked for one institute or a dozen authors to date. In particular, Akhmet Baitursynuly is a reformer who created a national script for six million Kazakhs of that period, a public figure who made efforts to teach Kazakh children in their native languages, the author of "alphabets", textbooks for teaching children the Kazakh language in national schools, a linguist who laid the foundation of the national science-Kazakh linguistics; the first scientist-philologist, representing the theory of Kazakh literary studies, the first scientist-culturologist, researcher of the history of the culture of the people, teacher-innovator, presenting the methodology of teaching the native language in a new way, one of the organizers of Kazakh science, one of the first professors of the Kazakh language and literature, who laid the foundation of our national Academy today. The main of these names is the art critic of the Kazakh word, the art critic of the Kazakh language.

This article aims to conduct an initial survey and map the academic production on the theme: National program of professional and basic education integration in the young and adult education mode (Programa Nacional de Integração da Educação Profissional com a Educação Básica na Modalidade de Educação de Jovens e Adultos - PROEJA) from dissertations, theses and articles published from 2006 to 2013. In order to undertake this research, we observed some theoretical and methodological procedures, literature review and documents which delimit this conceptual and historic field with the studies of Moura (2007), Moll (2010) Di Pierro (2010), Romanowski and Ens (2006), and Ferreira (2002). It is a bibliographical study which describes the state of the art about PROEJA in the country, having the word “PROEJA” as the research descriptor and the following analysis indicators: year of publication, the place where the research was performed (with empirical research), institution, type of production, categories of knowledge and keywords. The following sources were chosen as databases: Platform Scielo Brazil, the Public Domain Portal of Theses and Dissertations and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) of the Brazilian Institute of Information Science and Technology (IBCT). It can be concluded that scientific production in the mentioned area is still shy considering the theoretical and methodological challenges posed by the implementation of PROEJA, and there is still remarkably little research related to aspects such as didactic teaching materials, funding and the relationship with rural education.

This paper presents a thorough review of state-of-the-art research and literature in the field of photovoltaic tracking systems for the production of electrical energy. A review of the literature is performed mainly for the field of solar photovoltaic tracking systems, which gives this paper the necessary foundation. Solar systems can be roughly divided into three fields: the generation of thermal energy (solar collectors), the generation of electrical energy (photovoltaic systems), and the generation of electrical energy/thermal energy (hybrid systems). The development of photovoltaic systems began in the mid-19th century, followed shortly by research in the field of tracking systems. In this report, we present the contributions, outcomes, ideas, discussions and conclusions obtained at the PaleoMaps Workshop 2019, that took place at the Institute of Geography of the University of Cologne on 23 and 24 September 2019. The twofold aim of the workshop was: (1) to provide an overview of approaches and methods that are presently used to incorporate paleoenvironmental information in human–environment interaction modeling applications, and building thereon; (2) to devise new approaches and solutions that might be used to enhance the reconstruction of past human–environmental interconnections. This report first outlines the presented papers, and then provides a joint protocol of the often extensive discussions that came up following the presentations or else during the refreshment intervals. It concludes by adressing the open points to be resolved in future research avenues, e.g., implementation of open science practices, new procedures for reviewing of publications, and future concepts for quality assurance of the often complex paleoenvironmental data. This report may serve as an overview of the state of the art in paleoenvironment mapping and modeling. It includes an extensive compilation of the basic literature, as provided by the workshop attendants, which will itself facilitate the necessary future research.

Abstract:
The process of formation of socialist realism in literary creativity goes hand in hand with the crystallization of social awareness "down", within the psychology of the masses and "up", with the strengthening ideological party institutes of state. Endless discourses among the circles of artists on this plane, so competent is the new artistic unity as "the soc-realistic method" that obtained the status of state doctrine. In 1936 the Soviet government undertook measures to implement the undisputed total soc-realistic method all the arts in the USSR. Socialist realism becomes the dominant term in the science of Soviet literature and art sciences from the thirties to mark "basic approach" which "requires the artist to introduce the concrete historical truth of reality in its revolutionary development", so the literature had to be created with the task of educating the workers in the spirit of socialism. The notion aesthetic "realism" was related to defining "socialist", brought the practice of literature and arts submission to ideology. Demands of using the socialist realism techniques in fact became an obstacle, an anxiety to halt creativity that for years was avoid against the spiritual life of the people, so the writers created in the majority mediokre works of conformist who became propaganda trumpets. In the late ‘80s realism becomes literary and historical term, but in the embryonic stage of many characteristics, the soc-realism literature is determined as "heroic realism", "monumental", "social", "biased" and as if the category of “folk" is the basic principle of a work of art where the mythical watches in the mirror its other part of the medal.

In this article Natalia Yakubova explores the interactions between theatre and literature as between an actress on one side and a man of letters on the other. The interactions discussed here came at a particular historical moment, when the transition from an actor-centred to a director-centred hierarchy was taking place, and the article deals with the letters written by actresses to the men who were playwrights and/or theoreticians of the new theatre: Eleonora Duse writing to Gabriele D’Annunzio, Vera Komissarzhevskaya to Valery Bryusov, Irena Solska to Jerzy Żuławski, and Gertrud Eysoldt to Hugo von Hofmannsthal. In each case study, attention is paid to the characteristics of the relationships between a given actress and a particular writer, their attitudes towards theatre reform, the way in which the actresses evaluated the literary status of their letter writing, and, significantly, the stylistic features of their writing. Natalia Yakubova is a senior researcher of the State Institute of Art Studies in Moscow, and was Marie Curie Fellow at the Institute of Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences between 2013 and 2015. She is author of O Witkacym (2010) and Teatr epokhi peremen v Polshe, Vengrii i Rossii 1990-ye–2010-ye (2014), and has published numerous articles in Russia, Poland, the USA, and Canada, among other countries.

A workshop entitled “Ottoman Ego-Documents” was held at Istanbul Medeniyet University on March 11–13, 2020. The workshop was organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University's Faculty of Letters in collaboration with the Center for Ego-Document Studies and supported by the Turkish Historical Society and the Foundation for Science, Art, History and Literature (İSTEV). It was attended by specialists in history, literature, law, and theology. This event marked the first time in Turkey that this topic was discussed with a large scope. The only previous organized discussion in Turkey on “ego-documents” seems to have been “Autobiographical Themes in Turkish Literature: Theoretical and Comparative Perspectives,” held jointly by Boğaziçi University and the Orient-Institut der DMG in 2003. This discussion was mostly theoretical and the material covered belonged mainly to the post-Tanzimat era. A volume edited by Olcay Akyıldız, Halim Kara, and Börte Sagaster, the organizers of that event, was subsequently published by Ergon.

The article is divided into three main parts. The first part provides an overview of the existing literature on theoretical methods for calculating the optimal air distribution in mines according to the criteria of energy efficiency and providing all sections of mines with the required amount of air. It is shown that by the current moment there are many different formulations of the problem of searching the optimal air distribution, many different approaches and methods for optimizing air distribution have been developed. The case of a single (main) fan is most fully investigated, while for many fans a number of issues still remain unresolved. The second part is devoted to the review of existing methods and examples of the automated mine ventilation control systems implementation in Russia and abroad. Two of the most well-known concepts for the development of such systems are automated ventilation control systems (AVCS) in Russia and the CIS countries and Ventilation on demand (VOD) abroad. The main strategies of ventilation management in the framework of the AVCS and VOD concepts are described and also the key differences between them are shown. One of the key differences between AVCS and VOD today is the automatic determination of the operation parameters of fan units and ventilation doors using the optimal control algorithm, which is an integral part of the AVCS. The third part of the article describes the optimal control algorithm developed by the team of the Mining Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the participation of the authors of the article. In this algorithm, the search for optimal air distribution is carried out by the system in a fully automated mode in real time using algorithms programmed into the microcontrollers of fans and ventilation doors. Minimization of energy consumption is achieved due to the most efficient selection of the fan speed and the rate of ventilation doors opening and also due to the air distribution shift control and the partial air recirculation systems introduction. It is noted that currently the available literature poorly covers the issue related to emergency operation modes ventilation systems of mines and also with the adaptation of automated control systems to different mining methods. According to the authors, further development of automated ventilation control systems should be carried out, in particular, in these two areas.

Compounds containing the 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) 1 nucleus exhibit a wide range of biological activities, including antimicrobial, anticancer, and antifungal effects. The chemistry and biology of this group have attracted the attention of chemists, medicinal chemists, and professionals in health sciences. A number of prescribed drugs incorporate this group, and numerous 8-HQ- based molecules can be used to develop potent lead compounds with good efficacy and low toxicity. This review focusses on the recent advances in the synthesis of 8-HQ derivatives with different pharmacological properties, including anticancer, antiviral, and antibacterial activities. For this purpose, recent relevant references were searched in different known databases and search engines, such as MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, Cochrane, Scientific Information Database (SID), SciFinder, and Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) Web of Knowledge. This review article provides a literature overview of the various synthetic strategies and biological activities of 8-HQ derivatives and covers the recent related literature. Taken together, compounds containing the 8-HQ moiety have huge therapeutic value and can act as potential building blocks for various pharmacologically active scaffolds. In addition, several described compounds in this review could act leads for the development of drugs against numerous diseases including cancer.

The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytology (TBSRTC) was proposed in 2007 at the National Cancer Institute Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration State of the Art and Science Conference held in Bethesda, Maryland. The aim was to address the inconsistent and sometimes confusing reporting terminologies used for thyroid FNA throughout the world. The TBSRTC consists of 6 diagnostic categories, each associated with an implied risk of malignancy that translates directly into a clinical management algorithm. Since the publication of the TBSRTC cytology Atlas in January 2010, considerable experience has been gained regarding its application in cytology practice, clinical impact, and limitations. In conjunction with the International Academy of Cytology (IAC), an international panel composed of sixteen cytopathologists and an endocrinologist with special interest in thyroid cytology, including several co-authors of the 2010 TBSRTC Atlas, was created to: (1) analyze the current worldwide impact of TBSRTC, (2) report on the current state of TBSRTC based upon a review of the published literature, and (3) provide possible recommendations for a future update of TBSRTC. Herein, we summarize the panel's deliberations and key recommendations that our panel hopes will be useful during the preparation of the second edition of TBSRTC.

Community-based participatory research (CBPR) and community-engaged research have been established in the past 25 years as valued research approaches within health education, public health, and other health and social sciences for their effectiveness in reducing inequities. While early literature focused on partnering principles and processes, within the past decade, individual studies, as well as systematic reviews, have increasingly documented outcomes in community support and empowerment, sustained partnerships, healthier behaviors, policy changes, and health improvements. Despite enhanced focus on research and health outcomes, the science lags behind the practice. CBPR partnering pathways that result in outcomes remain little understood, with few studies documenting best practices. Since 2006, the University of New Mexico Center for Participatory Research with the University of Washington’s Indigenous Wellness Research Institute and partners across the country has engaged in targeted investigations to fill this gap in the science. Our inquiry, spanning three stages of National Institutes of Health funding, has sought to identify which partnering practices, under which contexts and conditions, have capacity to contribute to health, research, and community outcomes. This article presents the research design of our current grant, Engage for Equity, including its history, social justice principles, theoretical bases, measures, intervention tools and resources, and preliminary findings about collective empowerment as our middle range theory of change. We end with lessons learned and recommendations for partnerships to engage in collective reflexive practice to strengthen internal power-sharing and capacity to reach health and social equity outcomes.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine users’ attitude toward the implementation of information technology (IT) on the library of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). The paper also aims to explore the hindrances and recommendations for IT-enabled services and find out the present status of automation in the library of SGPGIMS. Design/methodology/approach – A well-structured questionnaire was designed to collect the data for the present study. A thorough survey of the literature was done to examine the findings of the earlier relevant studies. Findings – The results of the survey provide the important information regarding the state-of-the-art of the users of mentioned library. It also finds the barriers due to which overall implication of IT is being delayed. The findings of the study bequeath measures to eradicate the barriers and get the fully automated medical library. Originality/value – The study will have important implications on policymakers, librarians and other higher authorities of SGPGIMS to improve the IT status of their library. It evaluates the users need and points out the measures which can improve the IT status of these libraries.

Background. The history of theater criticism in Ukraine is a poorly understood science area. The process of formation and development of Theater Studies education is even less learned page of our theatrical process. Currently we have mainly short background history descriptions of the single theatrical departments than the reproduction of the whole process. Kharkiv Theater Institute (now the Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky) is highlighted in several publications that date back to the jubilee dates of the educational institution (the articles by N. Logvinova (1992 [17]), H. Botunova (2007 [9]), H. Botunova in collaboration with I. Lobanova (2017 [8]) and with I. Lobanova and Yu. Kovalenko (2012 [6]). Taking into account the reference and informational nature of these writings, the question of the methodology of teaching specialized disciplines, in particular, theatrical criticism, practically is not considered. The aim of this study is to analyze the process of formation of theater studies education within the boundaries of Kharkiv theatrical school, to determine the main methodological principles of theater criticism teaching in the context of the theatrical process development in general and the theatrical critical thought in particular, and also to consider the objective and subjective factors that were influenced on the schooling process in theatrical criticism area. Results. The development of theatrical criticism is directly related to the development of theatrical art. The active theatrical movement of the 1920’s has produced a great wave of theatrical criticism that was unprecedented in Ukrainian journalism. Among the factors that influenced the formation of the institute of theater criticism is the development of theater education in Kharkiv of the same period. And the most important thing is that authoritative theorists and practitioners have been involved in the organization and functioning of these educational institutions, teaching historical and theoretical disciplines: I. Turkeltaub, A. Bielecki, Ya. Mamontov, I. Shevchenko, M. Voronyi. It would seem that the logic of the theatrical process and theater education and the level of theatrical-critical thought should one way or another lead to the creation of the theatrical faculty (department) in one of Kharkiv’s higher educational institutions. However, the devastating defeat of the Ukrainian theater during the theatrical disputes of the late 1920’s and the further physical elimination of both theatrical artists and the chroniclers of their work, did not leave a trace of the rise and diversity of critical thought. The repressive processes also did not walked past and the sphere of theater education. In 1934, the Musical-Theater Institute in Kharkiv was closed. The rapid stage of development of all areas of theatrical art, which could lead to the establishment of a vocational school, was artificially torn and slowed down the process of establishing Theater Studies education on a certain time. A new stage in the history of Kharkiv’s theatrical criticism, which ultimately led to the establishment of vocational education, began after the liberation of the city in 1944, when the faculty of Theater Studies was opened at the Kharkiv Theater Institute due to initiative of S. Ignatov and A. Pletniov. Historical and theoretical disciplines were dominated in the theatre theorist’ education. Also there were a few subjects provides skills and ability to analyze drama, performance, directing and acting, the modern theatrical process: “Introduction to Theater Studies”, “Theatrical Criticism Workshop”, “Theory of Literature and Drama”. However, their teaching was extremely unsystematic. In search of the “Criticism” teacher the institute appealed to one of the most experienced theatrical reviewers V. Morsky, who had more than 20 years of experience in journalism at that time. This discipline did not have a clear developed program, work plan, methodological development, there was not even a well-known name, and it appears as “Reviewer Practicum”, “Theater Criticism”, “Theatrical Criticism Workshop”. V. Morsky was an active journalist and his method of teaching was based primarily on personal experience and everyday practice. The most important thing that was instilled to students is the need to write and publish. At the classes, students discussed and analyzed Kharkiv theaters’ performances, write reviews and read them directly in class. If there were not enough theatrical events, the lector chose music concerts and new movies to analyze. Active and gifted students were attracted to the review work in the newspaper “Krasnoye Znamya”, where he headed the Department of Culture, and they were beginning be published from a student’s times. He taught his students to analyze first the aesthetic and artistic qualities of artistic works, and not ideological and sociological components. An equally important factor in the young critics’ formation was the newspaper theatrical journalism, which was at a high professional level in Kharkiv in the late 1940’s. The theater life in the city was regularly covered in newspapers by V. Morsky, G. Gelfandbein, L. Zhadanov (L. Livshits) and B. Milyavsky. The prime of theatrical and generally artistic life, the rise of local journalism did not last long. The new repressive campaign in the USSR in 1946–1949 held in the field of science, literature, culture and the art. During these campaigns, a pleiad of highly talented teachers was fired from the institute or they quitted. It destroyed major of Kharkiv journalism in the 1940’s, including the first teacher of theatrical critique V. Morsky that was arrested and soon died in exile. Theatrical criticism as a profession for many years has lost its position of influence on the artistic process and disappeared from the Institute schedule in the function of classroom discipline for some time. Significantly decreased the amount of wishing to restock the ranks of “rootless cosmopolitans” (so they were reviled by official propaganda); the competition for Theater Studies department was virtually non-existent. Conclusions. Formation of the Theater Studies Department, developing teaching methods of one of the core subjects – theater criticism – at the Kharkiv Theater Institute took place against a background of difficult conditions of historical reality saturated ideological and political repression. This fact has not contributed to the development of theater criticism. National Theater Studies must go a long way to recreate an objective picture of the development of Ukrainian theatrical criticism, to define its stages and trends, fill in the lacunae in the biographies of scientists and formulate the originality of the methodology each of them.

Since 1964, the Institute of Musicology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts has been cherishing the official archive of the academician Ljubica Jankovic, ethnochoreologist, which originates from her service at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade (1939-1951). The legacy contains documentation about the activity of the Folk Dance Section of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, and extensive data on folk dances in Yugoslavia from the first half of the twentieth century. This paper presents part of the archival documentation relating to the establishment and activity of the Folk Dance Section. It was the first state institution to collect primary and secondary research sources relating to folk dance structure and to the social context of a rural dance practice. Apart from that, it was the institution for education on folk dance preservation and staging. Arts therapies (AsTs) are considered a valuable intervention for people with eating disorders, however the range of research studies and the comparison between the types of arts therapies are unknown. The goal of the future scoping review is to explore the therapeutic outcomes addressed by arts therapists in research studies on people with eating disorders and compare the different types of arts-based interventions. This scoping review will be conducted in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. Included will be research studies and sources oriented towards people with eating disorders of all ages and AsTs of any type (art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, dance/movement therapy, and expressive therapies). There is no language/publication period limitation. The following databases will be searched: CINAHL Plus, EMBASE, MEDLINE (OvidSP), ProQuest Central, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Sources of unpublished studies and grey literature will include Google Scholar, MedNar, clinical trials, and current controlled trials. Titles/abstracts and full texts of studies will be assessed against the inclusion criteria, and the data extracted by two independent reviewers. Based on the results, we will compare the types of AsTs according to the research designs, country/settings, intervention methods/materials, adverse effects reported, and therapeutic outcomes related to AsTs.

This review aimed at determining the prevalence and incidence of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) in Europe. We conducted a primary search in Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science for publications between 1994 and 15 June 2019 (PROSPERO: CRD42017078688). Additionally, we performed a backward-(reference lists) and forward-(citations) search of the works included in this review. Grey literature was addressed by contacting all members of the European Network on ME/CFS (EUROMENE). Independent reviewers searched, screened and selected studies, extracted data and evaluated the methodological and reporting quality. For prevalence, two studies in adults and one study in adolescents were included. Prevalence ranged from 0.1% to 2.2%. Two studies also included incidence estimates. In conclusion, studies on the prevalence and incidence of ME/CFS in Europe were scarce. Our findings point to the pressing need for well-designed and statistically powered epidemiological studies. To overcome the shortcomings of the current state-of-the-art, EUROMENE recommends that future research is better conducted in the community, reviewing the clinical history of potential cases, obtaining additional objective information (when needed) and using adequate ME/CFS case definitions; namely, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention−1994, Canadian Consensus Criteria, or Institute of Medicine criteria.

The beginning of 2006 marked two decades since the death of Stana Djuric-Klajn, the first historian of Serbian musical literature. This is the exterior motive for presenting a summary of the state and results of up-to-date musicology research into Serbian musical criticism and essay writings during the XIXth and the first half of the XXth century, alongside the many works dedicated to this branch of national musical history, recently published. In this way the reader is given a detailed background of these studies ? mainly the authors' names, books, studies, articles, as well as the problems of this branch of Serbian musicology. The first research is associated with the early years of the XXth century, that is, to the work of bibliography. The pioneer of Serbian ethnomusicology, Vladimir R. Djordjevic composed An Essay of the Serbian Musical Bibliography until 1914, noting selected XIXth century examples of Serbian literature on music. Bibliographic research was continued by various institutions and experts during the second half of the XXth century: in Zagreb (today Republic of Croatia); the Yugoslav Institute for Lexicography, Novi Sad (Matica srpska); and Belgrade (Institute for Literature and Art, Slobodan Turlakov, Ljubica Djordjevic, Stanisa Vojinovic etc). In spite of the efforts of these institutions and individuals, a complete analytic bibliography of music in Serbian print of the last two centuries has unfortunately still not been made. The most important contributions to historical research, interpretation and validation of Serbian musical criticism and essay writings were given by Stana Djuric-Klajn, Dr Roksanda Pejovic and Dr Slobodan Turlakov. Professor Stana Djuric-Klajn was the first Serbian musicologist to work in this field of Serbian music history. She wrote a significant number of studies and articles dedicated to Serbian musical writers and published their selected readings. Prof. Klajn is the author and editor of the first and only anthology of Serbian musical essay writings. Her student Roksanda Pejovic published two books (along with numerous other factually abundant contributions), where she synthetically presented the history of Serbian criticism and essay writings from 1825 to 1941. Slobodan Turlakov, an expert in Serbian criticism between the World Wars, meritorious researcher and original interpreter, especially examined the reception of music of great European composers (W. A. Mozart, L. v. Beethoven, F. Chopin, G. Verdi, G. Puccini etc) by Serbian musical critics. Serbian musical criticism and essay writings were also the focus of attention of many other writers. The work quotes comments and additions of other musicologists, but also historians of theatre, literature and art philosophers, aestheticians, sociologists, all members of different generations, who worked or still work on the history of the Serbian musical criticism and essay writings. The closing section of the text suggests directions for future research. Firstly, it is necessary to begin integral bibliographical research of texts about music published in our press during the cited period. That is a project of capital significance for national science and culture; realization needs adequate funding, the involvement of many academic experts, and time. Work on bibliography will also enable the collection and publication of sources: books and articles by Serbian music writers who worked before 1945. A separate problem is education of scholars. To study musical literature, a musicologist needs to be knowledgeable about the history of Serbian literature, aesthetic theory, and theatre, national social, political and cultural history, and methodology of literary study. That is why facilities for postgraduate and doctorial studies in musicology are necessary at the Faculties of Philology and Philosophy.

Reminiscences and a bait of the war years recorded in 1948 during a folklore expedition which was organized by scholars of the Institute of Language, Literature and History Hamid Yarmi and Khalida Gatina, are offered to readers’ attention. The expedition visited Aktanyshsky, Kalininsky, Muslyumovsky and Menzelinsky districts of Tatarstan. The expedition was attended by a third-year student of Kazan State University Nurikhan Fattakhov, who later became the author of historical novels. During the post-war expeditions, most of the informants were the Great Patriotic War veterans, front-line soldiers. They share memories of the Great Patriotic War, talk about the battles in which they participated, and about their military comrades. The first memory was recorded based on the story of Mukhammatziya Valiev. Valiev was a scout on the Leningrad and Stalingrad fronts for three years, and was wounded four times. According to the memoirs of a corporal intelligence officer, he spent one day in reconnaissance on the Stalingrad front. Salikh Shakirov ended the Great Patriotic War with the rank of Guard Captain, for display of courage he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner and the Medal For Courage. Salikh Shakirov was the commander of the reconnaissance department and recalls the events that took place during the military campaign to the German rear. Mirza Ibragimov tells about fierce battles in Ukraine, on the banks of the Dnieper. The memoirs describe how the soldiers resisted to the last, blew up German tanks, and carried out the wounded. Khanif Shaimardanov describes the tragedy of captivity. No edits were introduced into the texts. This gives you an opportunity to feel the live speech of the informants. The documents are kept in the funds of the Center for Written and Musical Heritage “Miraskhane” of the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences (collection No. 34, folder No. 4).

The article provides a concise description of a collection of texts in Arabic. The copy is preserved in the Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Kazan, Russian Federation. The copy originates from the Sterlibash district / Bashkortostan. The MS book comprises a collection of works on tajwid (recitation of the Holy Qur’an), Islamic creed and medicine. The aim of the publication is to introduce another hitherto unknown item, since the general descriptions available are far from being satisfactory. The item has entered the collection in 2017 under the shelfmark 7879 and assigned to the collection no. 39. The description offered provides titles of the work, their contents and authorship as well as the summary of the contents. The text in the MS was compared to the printed text of the same works (subject to availability). The cataloguer came to the conclusions as follows: the Tatars based their education on classical Islamic works in Arabic and Persian. The education was modelled after the system used in Central Asia. In the areas located remotely from the centres of education people also had a recourse to the texts, which comprised information, which was different from that from the “orthodox” writings. The Tatar medical writings used both local and classical medical texts.

Significant progress has been achieved in the past few years for the challenging task of pedestrian detection. Nevertheless, a major bottleneck of existing state-of-the-art approaches lies in a great drop in performance with reducing resolutions of the detected targets. For the boosting-based detectors which are popular in pedestrian detection literature, a possible cause for this drop is that in their boosting training process, low-resolution samples, which are usually more difficult to be detected due to the missing details, are still treated equally importantly as high-resolution samples, resulting in the false negatives since they are more easily rejected in the early stages and can hardly be recovered in the late stages. To address this problem, we propose in this paper a robust multi-resolution detection approach with a novel group cost-sensitive boosting algorithm, which is derived from the standard AdaBoost algorithm to further explore different costs for different resolution groups of the samples in the boosting process, and to place greater emphasis on low-resolution groups in order to better handle the detection of multi-resolution targets. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is evaluated on the Caltech pedestrian benchmark and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) multispectral pedestrian benchmark, and validated by its promising performance on different resolution-specific test sets of both benchmarks.

Abstract. By its very nature Earth is unsettled and in continual motion. Earthquakes and volcanoes are an expression of the convective motions of the planet, and our existence on Earth is a consequence of this tectonic activity. Yet, as humans, we often struggle to understand our role in relation to such unpredictable natural phenomena and use different methods to attempt to find order in nature's chaos. In dwelling on the surface of our “unsettled planet”, we adapt and live with a range of ground vibrations, both natural and anthropogenic in origin. Our project, funded by the University of Bristol's Brigstow Institute, seeks to explore how we perceive and understand the shaky ground we live on, using an interdisciplinary approach that brings together the Earth sciences, the history of art and literature, and performance art. Inspired by historical commentary in the aftermath of large earthquakes, which frequently notes the unscheduled ringing of church bells excited by the shaking around them, we reflect on how these purported unscheduled bell-ringing events were caused not only by near earthquakes but also by distant incidents. To investigate this phenomenon, we installed a state-of-the-art broadband seismometer in the Wills Memorial Building tower to record how Great George (the tower bell) responds to the restless world around him. The installed seismometer has been recording activity around and within the tower on a near-continuous basis between late-March 2018 and January 2019. Here, we present the signals recorded by the seismometer as Great George overlooks the hustle and bustle of the city around him and investigate how connected we are to our unsettled planet, even from our tectonically quiet setting in Bristol. We find that the seismometer not only shows the ebb and flow of activity in and around Bristol but also registers earthquakes from as nearby as Lincolnshire, UK, or as far away as Fiji, halfway around the world. In order to contextualize our findings, our project also considers what determines how people have responded to earth-shaking events, drawing on both historical and recent examples, and looks to contemporary art practice to consider how an awareness of our unsettled planet can be communicated in new ways. The project has led to a number of art installations and performances, and feedback from artists and audiences shows how making art can be used to both investigate our connections with the Earth and to articulate (and even accept) the uncertainties inherent in encountering unstable ground.

In 2005 the Institute of Child Protection Studies, Australian Catholic University, was approached by the ACT Government and asked to evaluate the ‘child centredness’ of its child protection policies and procedures. An early review of the literature discovered some use of the term ‘child centred’ in government documents but very little clear indication of its meaning in the theoretical and empirical literature. This paper canvasses the literature and develops a set of principles for child centred practice which may apply to all child and family agencies. In developing these principles, the researchers identified four key themes which provide a broad, overarching framework for child centred approaches. These themes emphasise the importance of: recognising critical time frames in childhood and adolescence; taking into account the developmental needs of children and young people in all practice contexts; providing children and young people with appropriate opportunities to participate in decisions that affect them; and promoting a collaborative approach to influencing children’s multiple environments. The researchers claim these principles can be used to provide the basis for evaluating policies and practices and for ongoing training.

In February 2020, a unique publication came out under the title “Kryz-Azerbaijani-English dictionary”, prepared by I. A. Gummetov and M. Rind-Pavlovsky. The publication was presented on February 8, 2020 in the Khachmas ethnographic Museum in Azerbaijan with the invitation of the Kryz intelligence and representatives of the Khachmas city hall. Employees of the Tsadasa Institute of language, literature and art of the Russian Academy of Sciences were also invited to the presentation of the dictionary in Azerbaijan. The present dictionary is exceptional in its originality and completeness as far as the various lexical units are concerned from the point of their description and specification. The Kryz language is one of the non-written Lezgian languages of the Nakh-Dagestan language family. The Kryz language is used in the household sphere. The reviewed book with a description of the Kryz language lexemes consists of an introduction, two chapters, a list of abbreviations, and an Appendix. The description of the Kryz language lexemes is confirmed by thematic indexes from the Azerbaijani and English languages. The dictionary entry includes grammatical and stylistic characteristics of the three languages. The treaty suspension is an institute of the international right and especially of treaty law which has a great importance and is directly related to the implementation of internationally concluded agreements between the subjects of this law. Although of particular importance, it should be said that the suspension seems to have been left a little in the shadows in terms of its treatment as often being treated together with termination of treaties it seems as if the latter has somewhat eclipsed it. This article aims that through a qualitative methodology based on the study of literature and relevant legislation, to analyze the institute of suspension of treaties, cases and arrangements made by the Vienna Convention as well as the procedure followed by states in this regard. An important aspect that is mentioned in this paper will be the case of suspensions of human rights treaties referring to the situation caused by Covid -19 in this regard. The article deals with unpublished poems by Russian poet and artist Boris Anrep, which are studied in the context of developing the traditions of English romantic epical poems. The research of these poems as evidence of creative dialogue between Anrep and the prophetic poetry of William Blake is proposed. The research considers the epics “Vladimir”, “Creation of the world” and “Creation of man” written by Anrep in the 1900s, before he emigrated from Russia, and are kept in the archive of N. Nedobrovo (Personal collection of the Manuscript Department of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences). The methods of comparative literature studies and those of analysis, synthesis and generalization are used. The idea is substantiated that Anrep, already in his early poetic work, inherits in many respects the poetics and themes of William Blake's prophetic books, which he knew in childhood. The author identifies the commonality in the figurative system of poems Anrep and Blake: the characters are elements, giants, generalized natural phenomena. The gravitation of Anrep to a combination of physiology and philosophy, synthesis of author's inference and mimetic descriptions also testifies to influence of romantic lyre-epics. It is concluded that the early poems of Boris Anrep, as well as his later works (“The Man”, “Fiza”, “Foreword To The Book Of Anrep”), are in many ways an attempt to embody in Russian the principles of English romantic poetry, primarily the prophecies of William Blake. The reception of these poems in the work of the artist Dmitry Stelletsky has been studied. It has been proved that such an example of the reception of English romanticism in general is typical for the culture of the Silver Age, which rediscovered European early romanticism (Poe, Novalis, Hölderlin) and felt it as modern art.

The core of the projects completed in the period from 2012 to 2017 includes not only historical facts and materials found from the State Archives, Central Scientific Library and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also an overview of active participation in many events related to the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, to the 20th and 25th anniversaries of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, associated with the considered ethnocultural centers and representatives of certain ethnic groups. Through the media, participation in international scientific and practical conferences, previously unknown facts of the studied ethnic groups were highlighted, and their relationship with the main population of the republic, their contribution to the multinational culture of Kazakhstan, which in turn confirms the prudent, orderly, and wise policy of Elbasy (The Head of the State). The authors use the following methods in the study: historical-chronological, source study, analytical, comparative, and interviewing. Since 2012, in Kazakh musicology, the musical heritage of ethnic groups inhabiting Kazakhstan has been studied. A unique opportunity for a full-fledged study of their work is presented thanks to the activities of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and systematic state policy, under the leadership of the First President. In 2017, the second book, entitled "The Historical Significance of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in Interethnic Cultural Integration", was published, which became a fruitful result of the research project in 2015–2017. This book is a kind of continuation of the series, which began in the previous collective monograph "The Musical Art of the People of Kazakhstan", which was published at the end of 2014 and has undergone extensive testing not only among professionals, but also among fans of the musical culture of multinational Kazakhstan. Such research projects, which were not previously carried out in the domestic humanitarian science, are significant and in demand, since before their appearance in domestic musicology there were only separate reports on the activities of cultural centers, articles in the media and on Internet sites, a brief analysis of the work of specific masters in publications devoted to the study of the history of musical art of numerous national cultures. They give only fragmentary ideas about the art of the ethnic groups in question. The relevance and insufficient elaboration of these problems served as the basis for the study "The historical significance of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in interethnic cultural integration", carried out by the Department of Musicology of the M. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The implementation of such a complex and significant topic for the national musical art, coverage of the activities of large cultural centers of different ethnic groups, and much more makes it possible to determine the contribution of each of them to the history of Kazakhstan's development and outline ways to preserve the traditional folklore heritage and identity. In this regard, these projects are relevant and socially and politically significant at the state level.

Abstract. Oxidation of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC) by the nitrate radical (NO3) represents one of the important interactions between anthropogenic emissions related to combustion and natural emissions from the biosphere. This interaction has been recognized for more than 3 decades, during which time a large body of research has emerged from laboratory, field, and modeling studies. NO3-BVOC reactions influence air quality, climate and visibility through regional and global budgets for reactive nitrogen (particularly organic nitrates), ozone, and organic aerosol. Despite its long history of research and the significance of this topic in atmospheric chemistry, a number of important uncertainties remain. These include an incomplete understanding of the rates, mechanisms, and organic aerosol yields for NO3-BVOC reactions, lack of constraints on the role of heterogeneous oxidative processes associated with the NO3 radical, the difficulty of characterizing the spatial distributions of BVOC and NO3 within the poorly mixed nocturnal atmosphere, and the challenge of constructing appropriate boundary layer schemes and non-photochemical mechanisms for use in state-of-the-art chemical transport and chemistry–climate models. This review is the result of a workshop of the same title held at the Georgia Institute of Technology in June 2015. The first half of the review summarizes the current literature on NO3-BVOC chemistry, with a particular focus on recent advances in instrumentation and models, and in organic nitrate and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation chemistry. Building on this current understanding, the second half of the review outlines impacts of NO3-BVOC chemistry on air quality and climate, and suggests critical research needs to better constrain this interaction to improve the predictive capabilities of atmospheric models.

On the eve of his 150th anniversary, the archival heritage of I. A. Bunin is studied with great care; new materials are being introduced into scientific use; a source base for academic omnibus edition of the first Russian Nobel laureate in literature is being prepared; methods and principles for the publication of works of different genres (poetry, journalism, prose, and archival materials) are being developed. The article focuses on specific materials from I. A. Bunin’s archive, so far little-studied, — odd notes, extracts, and marginalia in books and newspaper cuttings. Bunin left many such records on the books given to him, on the magazines read, on the newspaper clippings sent to him, etc. And many of them are of significant interest for researchers. The corpus of these materials happens to be segmented, as the rest of I. A. Bunin’s archive is; parts are deposited in the Leeds Russian Archives in the University of Leeds (Leeds, Great Britain), in the Department of Manuscripts of the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMLI RAN), in the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RGALI), in the fonds of the I. S. Turgenev Oryol State United Literary Museum, as well as in several archives in Western Europe and in the USA, in university, federal, and private collections. All Bunin's handwritten notes fall into the following three types of materials: (1) marginalia in books; (2) marginalia in newspaper and magazine clippings; and (3) odd notes not included in notebooks. Of greatest interest are Bunin's marginalia on cutting from newspapers and magazines. Bunin closely followed all responses to his work, collected clippings and stored them in a trunk, a ‘clippings trunk,’ as he called it. It is more important, however, to divide of the array of notes by their content: (1) quotations; (2) refinements and arguments; (3) assessments and opinions. Marginalia containing refinements and arguments, as well as those containing assessments and opinions, are extremely important. Some remarks clarify Bunin's artistic opinions, others offer corrections, clarifications, comments on his own or others work, or on epoch itself, yet other reveal particularities of the artistic conception. Bunin's assessments and comments clarify his literary and public position, providing wide context necessary for understanding the writer’s individuality. The article sets up a research problem — how to introduce this corpus of materials into scientific use and on what principles to prepare them for publication.

Block rooms allow parallel processing of surgical patients with the purported benefits of improving resource utilization and patient outcomes. There is disparity in the literature supporting these suppositions. We aimed to synthesize the evidence base for parallel processing by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. A systematic search was undertaken of Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), the National Health Service (NHS) National Institute for Health Research Centre for Reviews and Dissemination database, and Google Scholar for terms relating to regional anesthesia and block rooms. The primary outcome was anesthesia-controlled time (ACT; time from entry of the patient into the operating room (OR) until the start of surgical prep plus surgical closure to exit of patient from the OR). Secondary outcomes of interest included other resource-utilization parameters such as turnover time (TOT; time between the exit of one patient from the OR and the entry of another), time spent in the postanesthesia care unit (PACU), OR throughput, and clinical outcomes such as pain scores, nausea and vomiting, and patient satisfaction. Fifteen studies were included involving 8888 patients, of which 3364 received care using a parallel processing model. Parallel processing reduced ACT by a mean difference (95% CI) of 10.4 min (16.3 to 4.5; p<0.0001), TOT by 16.1 min (27.4 to 4.8; p<0.0001) and PACU stay by 26.6 min (47.1 to 6.1; p=0.01) when compared with serial processing. Moreover, parallel processing increased daily OR throughout by 1.7 cases per day (p<0.0001). Clinical outcomes all favored parallel processing models. All studies showed moderate-to-critical levels of bias. Parallel processing in regional anesthesia appears to reduce the ACT, TOT, PACU time and improved OR throughput when compared with serial processing. PROSPERO CRD42018085184.
