Abstract:

Esta dissertação assume o título Arte e Arquivo: A emergência do arquivo nas obras de arte contemporânea (1960-2017) e traduz uma proposta de reflexão e debate sobre o uso do arquivo nas obras de arte portuguesas. A arte contemporânea apresenta-se como um lugar de encontro, de criação de novas possibilidades sobre o valor da arte, e é a partir deste encontro e desencontro que vão sendo disponibilizadas novas formas de perceber e sentir que abrem a arte ao mundo. O presente estudo está dependente de uma fundamentação teórica e histórica que procuraremos desenvolver, de forma a elaborar uma narrativa constante e fundamentada sobre a questão da emergência do arquivo nas obras de arte contemporânea. A abordagem para a noção de arquivo que traçaremos não se centra na sua definição mais prosaica de uma massa amorfa de documentos dispostos em um qualquer lugar poeirento. Pretendemos sugerir um olhar dialético com base na metodologia arqueológica de Michel Foucault, sustentada pela doutrina de Jacques Derrida acerca do mal d’archive, o seu exercício de repetição, compulsão, reformatação e, em alguns casos, destruição do arquivo. Os arquivos retêm em si um mecanismo de hegemonia e de existência. Ambos refletem e constituem relações de poder, que são o efeito da necessidade de informação da sociedade o que revela a importância que lhes é concedida. Nas sociedades contemporâneas, onde a necessidade de arquivo é absoluta e patológica, é imperativo primordial uma reconsideração sobre as relações das sociedades com o arquivo, uma vez que é no âmago desse relacionamento que se posicionam os poderes. Com a crescente heterogeneidade do avanço das novas tecnologias, não são apenas as práticas de manutenção do arquivo que se transformaram, mas também os arquivos como instituições de memória e lembrança. O retorno ao arquivo está inúmeras vezes relacionado com a luta contra a amnésia e a anomia. Uma necessidade imanente de urgência em lembrar e celebrar nas sociedades, onde os códigos sociais têm sido historicamente reprimidos pelo Estado, criando circunstâncias que levam à intensa coletivização da memória e de exercícios de melancolia em massa. A explosão tecnológica que nos atinge, torna hoje possível, que cada um de nós construa o seu próprio mundo, as suas próprias memórias e lembranças. Confiamos a nossa capacidade de lembrar e de criar memórias a um núcleo, que de dia para dia, se torna obsoleto e que em nós próprios se torna difícil manter com exatidão. A questão que ocorre é a de que como, nos dias de hoje, iremos entender o mundo, quando as nossas memórias e lembranças estão em plena dependência. A partir de considerações sobre a quebra da narrativa da modernidade e a sua recuperação relançada pela mão de artistas que trabalham o arquivo, que criam arquivo, problematizam e debatem o seu fundamento, será construída uma genealogia de obras de arte nacionais em sincronia com a anatomia do arquivo.
This dissertation assumes the title Art and Archive: The emergence of the archive in contemporary works of art (1960-2017) and presents a proposal for a reflection and debate on the use of archives in Portuguese works of art. Contemporary art presents itself as a meeting place, creating new possibilities on the value of art. From this meeting place, new ways of understanding and feeling emerge, which open art to the world. This present study depends on a theoretical and historical foundation, that we will seek to develop in order to elaborate a constant and reasoned narrative on the issue of archival emergence in contemporary works of art. The approach to the notion of archive that we will trace is not centered on its more prosaic definition of an amorphous mass of documents disposed in any dusty place. We intend to suggest a dialectical look based on the archaeological methodology of Michel Foucault, sustained by Jacques Derrida's doctrine of mal d’archive, his exercise of repetition, compulsion, reformatting and, in some cases, destruction of the archive. Archives, retain in themselves, a mechanism of hegemony and existence. Both reflect and constitute power relations, that are the effect of society´s, which reveals the importance that is accorded to them. In contemporary societies, where the need for archiving is absolute and pathological, a reconsideration of societies' relations with the archive is imperative, since it is at the heart of this relationship that the powers are positioned. With the increasing heterogeneity of the advancement of new technologies, it is not only the practices of maintaining the archive that have become transformed, but also the archives as institutions of memory and remembrance. The return to the archive is numerous times related to the fight against amnesia and anomy. An immanent need for urgency to remember and celebrate in societies where social codes have historically been repressed by the State, creating circumstances that lead to an intense collectivization of memory and mass melancholy exercises. With the technological explosion that affects us, is now possible for each of us to build our own world, our own memories, and remembrances. We entrust our ability to remember and create memories to a core that from day to day becomes obsolete and, which in itself, becomes difficult to maintain accurately. The question that arises is how, today, we will understand the world, when our memories are fully dependent. Based on the considerations about the breaking of the narrative of modernity and its recovery relaunched by the hand of artists who work the archives, who create archives, problematize and debate its foundation, a genealogy of national works of art will be built in synchrony with the anatomy of the archive.

The way we communicate with each other has changed a lot since the beginning of the twentieth century thus becomes important to try to explain what has changed in the arts and how you receive your message today. This project starts from the analysis of the work of Picasso Guernica as an example to analyse the communication through the art of the early twentieth century compared to today. I will research on how evolved the relationship between art and communication. And how is seen art though the new media. What an artist wants to convey when producing a work of art and its impact on the receiver as their historical context. Although Picasso's Guernica and themes already being hotly debated, try approaching the point of view of communication, and use them only as examples showing that work via new media. So this project is essentially practical with a view to building a video and a website on the topic. In this video show the work, speak with those responsible for the museum where Guernica is exposed, witness reactions and try to understand how the reception has been throughout the ages. We also spoke of the importance of digital media as a vehicle to showcase the museums and works of art. This is a project with a theoretical framework, interviews and images that may provide some answers to the initial question. Try using audio-visuals, photographic or others who are available to support our work material.

Abstract:

Inserido no projeto de mestrado em Gestão Cultural, foi desenvolvido o Atelier Inclusivo de Artes Plásticas, destinado a crianças e jovens com e sem necessidades educativas especiais. O Atelier tem como objetivo desenvolver a criatividade, a motricidade fina e promover a autoestima. Além de ser uma atividade artística é também um meio de inclusão, dignificando e desenvolvendo as capacidades de todos os participantes envolvidos. Enquadramos o projeto com alguns temas alusivos à inclusão nas escolas, à educação artística, às terapias expressivas integradas e à arte contemporânea. Importa sublinhar que o Atelier Inclusivo de Artes Plásticas foi desenvolvido na Escola Básica e Secundária Gonçalves Zarco, no Funchal, inserido no programa do Percurso Curricular Alternativo, aplicado à turma 8 do 5º ano e teve uma participação assídua. Durante os meses de novembro 2016 a fevereiro de 2017 realizámos 26 sessões, inseridas no horário da disciplina de Oficina de Artes. O resultado dos trabalhos desenvolvidos está descrito neste relatório e foi planeado em formato de exposição. Tendo presente as metas propostas, podemos, a esta distância, assegurar que o Atelier Inclusivo de Artes Plásticas alcançou os objetivos propostos. Face aos resultados observados em tão curto horizonte temporal, estamos firmemente convictos de que se fosse um projeto de continuidade poderíamos ver mais resultados e desenvolver mais competências técnicas, psicológicas e sociológicas nos participantes.
As part of the project of Master Degree in Cultural Management, an Inclusive Atelier of Plastic Arts was developed, aimed at children and young people with and without special educational needs. We have aligned the project with some themes related to school inclusion, artistic education, integrated expressive therapies and contemporary art. The Inclusive Atelier of Plastic Arts aimed to develop creativity, fine motor skills and promote self-esteem. Besides being an artistic activity is also a means of inclusion, dignifying and developing the capacities of all participants involved. The Inclusive Atelier of Plastic Arts was developed at Gonçalves Zarco Primary and Secondary School, as part of the Alternative Curricular Course program, in group 8 of the 5th year and had a regular participation. During the months of November 2016 to February 2017 we held 26 sessions, inserted in the timetable of the arts workshop discipline, the result of the works developed, is described in this report and planned in exhibition format. Bearing in mind the proposed goals, we can, at this distance, ensure that the Inclusive Atelier of Plastic Arts has achieved its objectives. Given the results achieved in such a short time frame, we are firmly convinced that if it was a project with continuity we could see even more results and develop more technical, psychological and sociological skills in the participants.

Abstract:

Esta tese colocará em evidência a importância do triângulo constituído pelo desejo, imaginação e prazer, em A La Recherche du Temps Perdu, e com isso apresentar uma teoria poustiana sobre aquilo que constitui a criação artística. Far-se-á também ver como é que o processo desencadeado por este triângulo ganha forma em vários passos da Recherche, e com isso perceber o modo como Marcel se relaciona com os seus três vértices. Por fim, procurar-se-á mostrar de que forma essa teoria sobre a arte entra em diálogo com aquilo que Descartes defende em Meditações Metafísicas.
This dissertation will reveal the importance of the triad constituted by desire, imagination, and pleasure in A La Recherche du Temps Perdu. From there, a Proustian theory about what constitutes artistic creation will be advanced. It will also be shown how the process triggered by this triad takes shape in several passages from Recherche, which will lead, in turn, to an understanding of how Marcel relates to each of the three elements. Finally, a relationship between the Proustian theory on art and Descartes’ Metaphysical Meditations will be suggested and described.
