Abstract:
Introduction Blood vessel injuries during arthroscopic knee surgeries are unusual and rare and comprise less than 1% of all arthroscopic complications. Between 1990 and 2004, at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Institute of Surgery, Novi Sad, 2100 arthroscopic knee surgeries were carried out. Only one case of false aneurysm of the geniculate lateral inferior artery was reported. Case Report A 35-year-old professional waiter injured his left knee while getting up from a kneeling position. He had a typical clinical rupture with an interior meniscus lesion. Knee arthroscopy

Background: Arthroscopic drilling is a well-established treatment for stable intact OCDs of the knee in children when non-operative treatment fails. The decision to proceed to operative treatment requires a discussion regarding the risks and benefits of surgical intervention. While there is abundant data suggesting that OCD drilling is a highly effective treatment strategy, there is little data specifically evaluating the risks and complications of this procedure. Anterior and posterior cruciate ligament (ACL and PCL) reconstructions are common knee arthroscopic surgeries. ACL and PCL reconstruction have small incision sites, thus enabling fast recovery of the patient. However, an arthroscope provides a limited view due to the small size of the camera lens, and a small incision restricts the motion of surgical instruments. As a result, finding the exact bone drilling position that was preoperatively determined to connect a new ligament between the femur and tibia is challenging during surgery.
