Abstract:

This article is inspired by Joshua Epstein's generativist paradigm, according to which to possibility of explaining a phenomenon and of influencing its process of existence depend on the availability of instruments that can artificially reproduce it, or in other words simulate its «generation». «Agent based simulation » possesses the requirements that enable the development of a similar cognitive program. The essay describes this instrument's characteristics, from the modeling to the cellular automaton used in biology, of which the «agent based simulation» in an exemplary heir. The second part of the article focuses on applications of generative simulation, with reference to the interpretation of interdependant dynamics in complex situations as useful resources for sociological analysis of micro and macro phenomena.

Abstract:

The aim of this article is to enrich the concept of technological incorporation, as thematized by Merleau-Pontian phenomenology and post-phenomenology, through a study of the material history of artificial prostheses. We will see in the first section that post-phenomenology, by discussing the plasticity of the corporeal schema, did not recognize the importance of technological transformations; that is, it has given little importance to the inorganic, material correlate through which hybridization is possible. Secondly, we will show how Merleau-Ponty, through a reading of Marx, contributes to phenomenology a naturalistic dialectic between material history and corporeity. This relation appears central to our understanding of the constitutively plastic and performative essence of the corporeal schema. The dialectics that technologies institute, however, do not necessarily lead to an increase in one’s perceptive-agentive capacities. The last section of this article investigates this claim through an analysis of the pathology of phantom limbs, in light of the evolution of prosthetic technologies between the two World Wars.

Lo scritto si basa sulle cartografie a grande scala disegnate nel XVIII secolo, soprattutto dal 1740, anno della ricognizione generale di Pompeo Neri e Tommaso Perelli. I committenti furono la grande proprietŕ fondiaria (Salviati, Mensa Arcivescovile di Pisa, Scrittoio delle Regie Possessioni) e gli uffici dell'amministrazione lorenese competenti in materia di lavori pubblici, di controllo politico-amministrativo del territorio e di gestione agricolo-forestale delle tante fattorie e tenute pubbliche. L'integrazione e la comparazione dei documenti consente di ricostruire l'assetto territoriale d'insieme della pianura a nord e a sud dell'Arno (tra Massaciuccoli e Livorno), con le trasformazioni avvenute dopo il 1740. Emergono i diversi ambienti e paesaggi che si susseguono dal mare all'interno, sotto il profilo geomorfologico-idrologico (spiagge e tomboli, lame e zone umide, bassa e alta pianura) e vegetazionale (foresta sempreverde, pineta, foresta planiziaria, pascoli naturali e prati artificiali, coltivazioni). Sono anche messe in luce le dinamiche che riguardano l'azione umana su: i corsi d'acqua, i canali artificiali e i recinti di colmata, le strade e le poche sedi umane stabili e temporanee, correlate alla fruizione agro-forestale del territorio, al di lŕ dei centri urbani di Pisa e Livorno e del sistema delle fortificazioni costiere.

Abstract Com’è avvenuta la trasformazione di Lampedusa in sinonimo della frontiera euro-africana? I confini sono fatti sociali, e trasformare un luogo in confine, o trasformare il ruolo simbolico e pratico di un confine, è sempre frutto di determinate azioni. Da questa prospettiva l’articolo analizza i principali atti che hanno accresciuto la “confinità” di Lampedusa, determinando la “frontierizzazione” dell’isola, tra gli anni Novanta e il 2011. L’analisi tocca alcune scelte del legislatore, l’evoluzione delle relazioni con i paesi nordafricani e certe pratiche di controllo e gestione delle frontiere: l’apertura di un centro di detenzione, la scelta di dirottare quasi tutti i migranti a Lampedusa, concentrandovi così anche le attività di accoglienza, e la produzione di emergenze artificiali.2.

Este artigo tem como escopo discorrer sobre o texto Dei lumi artificiali delle scene, composto no século XVI italiano, obra literária do preceptor, pintor e arquiteto Sebastiano Serlio, que trata de uma série de assuntos referentes à arquitetura a partir da figura do pintor. Na distinção das artes a prescrição do lume para o “disegno visivo” seguirá preceitos do tratado Da pintura de Alberti. No crescente da construção retórica discursiva, tal proposição é suplantada quando se trata dos lumi da scena, ou seja, “luzes que se vêem”, obtidas pelo fogo, que incidem sobre tintas coloridas, como formas de ornatos materiais, amplificam o relevo e dão a ver os volumes superando, por emulação, as próprias coisas naturais.

Abstract Si esaminano i problemi derivanti dall’utilizzazione di stime di valutazione contingente dei valori di uso passivo nella politica ambientale.Il dibattito sul calcolo economico ha dimostrato che questi prezzi artificiali hanno poche probabilità di mantenere qualsiasi relazione con la capacità contributiva. E, in assenza di una valutazione di mercato, si dimostra che le valutazioni individuali sono probabilmente inaffidabili.Inoltre, anche se i problemi di affidabilità potessero essere superati, l’utilizzo di tali stime in tema di politiche pubbliche incontrerebbe notevoli problemi di applicazione pratica.Pertanto, anche in situazioni in cui i valori di uso passivo sono presumibilmente molto importanti, come per i pinguini in Antartide, i costi d’uso delle tecniche di valutazioni contingente possono superare i benefici a motivo degli elevati costi di transazione e di problemi burocratici.

Abstract Allontanandosi da un contesto economico perfettamente competitivo, in cui l’imposta pigouviana è lo strumento correttivo più efficiente, l’intervento pubblico per il controllo delFinquinamento in settori oligopolistici può assumere varie forme. L’analisi formale delle conseguenze dell’azione pubblica si è concentrata su un insieme di strumenti alquanto ristretto, quali imposta sulle emissioni, permessi commerciabili e standards di emissione.Il lavoro si propone di riempire questo vuoto, discutendo in particolare l’impatto congiunto che la struttura di mercato ed il cambiamento tecnico hanno sulla scelta degli strumenti di controllo dell’inquinamento. L’inserimento di questi fattori nell’analisi può fornire indicazioni utili ai fini dell’elaborazione di politiche di controllo dell’inquinamento in specifici settori industriali. Su queste basi l’Autore dimostra che l’efficacia in termini di costi dei mercati artificiali per l’ambiente può essere aumentata in maniera significativa dall’introduzione di misure complementari come un sussidio ‘finalizzato’ al settore Ricerca e Sviluppo.

Abstract:

Objective. The aim of this study was to check whether the ways in which the color of anterior maxillary teeth varies in artificial dental sets matches the way in which color varies in the anterior maxillary natural dentition. Material and method. One examiner, free of any visual color deficiencies, experienced in the use of intraoral shade matching devices, has studied the chromatic behavior within the maxillary anterior dental group (13-23) for 8 types of artificial denture teeth sets. Four of these sets are made out of acrylic resin: Star Lux (Ruthinium Grup, Italia), Vita MTF (Vita, North America), Spofadent Plus (SpofaDent s.a, Cehia) and Acry Rock (Ruthinium Grup, Italia), 2 sets are made of composite resin: Ivoclar Ivostar (Ivoclar Vivadent, Lichtenstein) and Pigeon Summit (Pigeon Dental, China) and 2 of them are ceramic sets of denture teeth: Vita Lumin Vacuum (Vita Zahnfabrik, Germania) and Enta Ceram (Enta B.V., Olanda). With the help of the Vita Easy Shade (Vita Zahnfabrik – Germany), CIEL*a*b* chromatic parameters have been recorded for each tooth. 5 distinct measurements were carried out for every tooth. The results were later compared to the values obtained when measuring color variation in natural anterior maxillary teeth. When calculating the relative color difference between two teeth, the following formula has been used: (1) For each set of denture teeth, the variation of color between every two adjacent teeth was noted and compared to the color variation between the correspondent natural teeth. The mean difference between these two results was compared to the ADA limit value for human eye perceptibility of color difference (2 units). Results. The following aspects have been noted: some sets of denture teeth, for certain groups of teeth, show a similar chromatic behavior to natural teeth whereas other doesn’t. For the pair of teeth 13/12, only 4 of the studied sets of denture teeth showed an unperceivable difference in color variation when compared to natural dentition (Spofadent Plus, Star Lux, Vita Lumin Vacuum, and Ivoclar Ivostar). 5 is the number of matching sets of denture teeth for the 12/11 pair (Star Lux, Spofadent Plus, Vita MTF, Pigeon Summit, and Vita Lumin Vacuum), 5 sets also matched for the 11/21 pair (Vita Lumin Vacuum, Acry Rock, Ivoclar Ivostar, Star Lux, and Spofadent Plus). For the pair 21/22 5 matching sets were found (Spofadent Plus, Ivoclar Ivostar, Vita MTF, Acry Rock, Star Lux) and no matching sets were found for the 22/23 pair of teeth. Within the limits of this study we can affirm that using the Spofadent Plus set of denture teeth would lead to prosthetic results that show a variation of color within the anterior maxillary dental group most similar to natural teeth. Conclusions. Despite the fact that they bare the same name code, different sets of denture teeth produced by different brands have different colors, irrespective of the material they are made of. Chromatic behaviour, from one tooth to the next also differs from one make to another. The field of color in artificial denture teeth requires supplementary attention. The conclusions of this study set a general direction that can be followed in future studies.

Abstract:

In questa nota informativa l’Autore intende far conoscere il significato di una nuova parola diffusa in Olanda e in Germania: versterving. Si tratta di un termine olandese in uso da un po’di tempo nelle case di cura per anziani affetti da demenza. La discussione intorno a questo termine ebbe inizio con un fatto accaduto in una casa di cura in Olanda: i parenti di un malato ivi ricoverato denunciarono il personale curante perché, al fine di accelerare la morte del loro congiunto, non gli davano né cibo, né acqua. Infatti il termine venne coniato per la prima volta da un medico psichiatra, Chabot, per indicare la rinuncia all’idratazione e all’alimentazione artificiali, il che, in sostanza, vuol dire aprire una finestra all’eutanasia passiva. Infatti l’alimentazione e l’idratazione rientrano tra le cure normali dovute sempre al malato per cui la loro ingiustificata sospensione può avere il significato di vera eutanasia. La versterving è quindi una sospensione indebita di cure proporzionate. L’Autore afferma inoltre che l’attività medico-sanitaria deve essere impostata su un incontro tra una fiducia (quella del malato) e una coscienza (quella del medico) che ha il compito di assistere, curare e guarire.

Le infezioni correlate all’assistenza sono un problema mondiale. Si possono prevenire attraverso programmi di igiene e abitudini corrette, come il lavaggio delle mani. Tra le cause ci sono probabilmente le unghie artificiali e gli anelli. Anche se manca un’evidenza definitiva per sostenere il divieto di indossarli durante la prassi assistenziale, in una condizione di incertezza, la migliore presa di posizione sul piano etico è di agire secondo precauzione. Inoltre, l’estetica può essere considerata un valore in sé, ma nell’ambiente sanitario le scelte estetiche non dovrebbero rappresentare un pericolo per il paziente. L’autonomia dei professionisti sanitari andrebbe perciò bilanciata coi principi di non-maleficenza e giustizia, in una prospettiva relazionale: è una questione di responsabilità verso i pazienti, i colleghi e la comunità. Infine, il professionista sanitario ha un suo specifico essere- in-relazione, che è la relazione di cura. Se un paziente affida se stesso a un professionista sanitario, un autentico valore estetico sta nell’impegno a non diminuirne le possibilità di esistenza. Bellezza, in questo caso, significa la migliore igiene delle mani. ---------- Healthcare-associated infections are a problem worldwide. They can be prevented through hygiene programs and good habits, like hand-washing. Among causes there are probably artificial fingernails and finger rings. Even if there is not a definitive evidence to support the prohibition to wear them during healthcare practice, in a condition of uncertainty the best ethical stance is to act according to precaution. Moreover, aesthetics may be considered as a value in itself, but in a healthcare setting aesthetical choices should not pose a threat to the patient. Therefore, health care professionals’ autonomy should be balanced with non-maleficence and justice principles, in a relational perspective: it is a matter of responsibility towards patients, coworkers, and community as well. Finally, the healthcare professional has a proper being-in-relationship, that is the cure relationship. If a patient entrusts himself to a healthcare professional, an authentic aesthetic value may be the commitment to not decrease the possibilities of patients’ existence. Beauty, in this case, means the best hand hygiene.

Un esame globale dell’istruzione vaticana Donum Vitae sul rispetto della vita umana nascente e la dignità della procreazione esige una preliminare corretta comprensione dei principi generali posti a sostegno di tutta l’argomentazione “Essi dipendono fondamentalmente da un’antropologia, ossia da una visione dell’uomo, della sua natura e dignità, della sua origine e del suo destino, la quale è a fondamento della soluzione dei vari casi trattati” (J. Ratzinger). Si possono riassumere qui di seguito: l’esser umano è creatura di Dio e la vita umana è un personale dono dall’Amore nell’amore; la persona umana è una totalità unificata; la dignità dell’atto coniugale si situa in unità di pienezza umana. Questi principi sono stati fatti oggetto di speciale attenzione da parte di tutti quegli autori che hanno sviluppato approfondite ricerche, commenti e studi sul documento. La risposta data dalla Chiesa Cattolica ha tenuto presente il futuro dell’uomo e la sua fondamentale dignità – radicata anche a livello biologico -, come pure i valori di base che stanno all’origine della genitorialità: e questo al fine di valutare la moralità di chiamare all’esistenza nuovi esseri umani mediante tecniche artificiali. Una tale valutazione consente di attualizzare gli importanti temi di bioetica affrontati nel 1987 da documento vaticano della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede.

Abstract:

La nutrizione è considerata dalla legislazione sanitaria corrente parte integrante della prevenzione e terapia clinica, e quindi del processo assistenziale. In questa ottica il servizio di ristorazione di un ospedale rappresenta un potente ausilio terapeutico ed educazionale. Il servizio di ristorazione della nostra Azienda Ospedaliera-Universitaria Pisana si basa sul Dietetico, una raccolta di diete standardizzate a composizione bromatologica definita, nel quale vengono indicate anche le finalità e le caratteristiche dei pazienti a cui si rivolge. Questo articolo riporta la nostra esperienza in questo settore, con particolare riguardo alle diete speciali per i pazienti nefropatici. Le diete speciali, come la dieta ipoproteica (0.6 g/kg p.c./die) ipofosforica, la dieta ipoproteica (0.7 g/kg p.c./ die) vegetariana e la dieta fortemente ipoproteica (0.3 g/kg p.c./die) ipofosforica sono prescritte dal medico, elaborate dal dietista e formulate per il singolo paziente. Sin dalla sua preparazione la dieta speciale ipoproteica presenta diversi punti critici (elaborazione-confezionamento e distribuzione della dieta, mancata personaliz-zazione, prodotti artificiali aproteici). Allo scopo di migliorare il servizio dietetico abbiamo rilevato l'effettivo consumo e la gradevolezza dei pasti speciali ipoproteici distribuiti durante la degenza mediante la compilazione di due schede consegnate ai pazienti nel corso della degenza. Abstract:

Storicamente, i primi casi di nidificazione di Cigno reale (<em>Cygnus olor)</em> in Italia sono stati accertati in Lombardia e Piemonte negli anni ‘60-’70 del secolo scorso, in seguito ad introduzioni iniziate negli anni ‘30-’40 nelle parti svizzere di alcuni laghi lombardi e continuate nei decenni successivi. La popolazione nidificante risulta attualmente concentrata nelle regioni settentrionali, dal Piemonte orientale alla fascia costiera alto-adriatica, dove si riproduce quasi il 90 % della popolazione nazionale; presenze più frammentate in Liguria, Trentino-Alto Adige, Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Basilicata e Sardegna. All’inizio degli anni ‘80 del secolo scorso erano state stimate 20-35 coppie nidificanti in meno di 15 siti; di queste, l’80% si trovava in Piemonte e Lombardia. Le coppie sono aumentate a 25-45 nel 1987, poi a 300-500 nei primi anni del 2000, ed attualmente a 500-700 in oltre 150 siti, con un aumento di oltre il 900% rispetto ai valori iniziali. Questi dati confermano la fase di incremento ed espansione territoriale nota a livello europeo negli ultimi decenni. La colonizzazione di molti siti riproduttivi, localizzati in prevalenza nelle regioni settentrionali, è dovuta alla formazione di nuclei svernanti, cui fa seguito la formazione di coppie riproduttrici. Tale fenomeno ha interessato, seppur in misura più limitata, anche le regioni centro-meridionali, dove le osservazioni sono andate aumentando negli ultimi due decenni. Il Cigno reale nidifica a coppie isolate o localmente raggruppate in forma coloniale in zone umide naturali o artificiali, anche di modesta estensione, preferibilmente dal livello del mare fino a 300 m, con un’altitudine massima di 970 m s.l.m., rilevata in Trentino.

Il patrimonio industriale legato all’energia elettrica è rappresentato da una serie di complessi architettonici fortemente stratificati, caratterizzati da diverse soluzioni tecniche, formali e distributive che si sono sovrapposte l'una all'altra, quando necessario, per ragioni legate all’innovazione tecnologia e ai cambiamenti nei processi produttivi. In realtà, sono proprio queste stratificazioni (aggiunte, cambiamenti d'uso, abbandoni momentanei e riusi, accompagnati da adeguamenti architettonici e tecnologici) che conferiscono ai complessi industriali particolare valore di memoria. Infatti, è proprio la continua trasformazione di funzioni e di elementi tecnologici a rappresentare “l'essenza” di questa particolare produzione edilizia. Dalla nascita delle prime fabbriche fino ad oggi, gli edifici industriali hanno cambiato rapidamente la loro forma architettonica e la loro consistenza sia materica sia formale assecondando le esigenze lavorative e produttive. Per questo motivo oggi abbiamo l'opportunità di leggere una "storia dell'architettura" rappresentata da una sequenza di tecnologie e materiali sostituiti di continuo o stratificatisi, in un abaco di elementi relativi alla sperimentazione del calcestruzzo armato, del ferro, della ghisa, dell’acciaio; oppure riguardanti l’utilizzo di grandi superfici di vetro o coperture a shed; o ancora relativi all'uso di fonti energetiche naturali e artificiali. Molte esperienze europee di restauro e riuso degli edifici industriali legati alla produzione di energia, hanno già considerato tale approccio come una delle migliori scelte volte a una conservazione che possa definirsi compatibile: la scelta delle nuove funzioni è dettata, infatti, non tanto dalle esigenze economiche e d’uso, ma dalla flessibilità dell'edificio ad accogliere sostanziali adeguamenti tecnici, energetici, funzionali. Ciò con l’obiettivo di raggiungere un giusto equilibrio tra il rispetto della memoria storica e la necessità di adattarsi alle normative riguardanti l’adeguamento energetico e le nuove funzioni richieste dalla popolazione, raggiungendo una sostenibilità sociale, culturale e ambientale.

The wear-resisting function of the 4-10mm thickness Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene artificially acetabulum was researched, which matches up with the 28mm-diameter artificial thigh bone. The Elastic deformation theory and the finite-element analysis to get the regularity of distribution on contract stress were compared, calculate the stress integral to friction journey during the normal gait, and according with the Archard wear calculation formula, compare the reckoning of artificially acetabulum in different thickness. By this calculation, the regularity of distribution for contact stress, which got from elastic deformation theory, is close to the result got from finite-element analysis. For a 65 kg sufferer matched with a 28mm-diameter artificial thigh bone, the wear-resisting of a 6-8mm artificially acetabulum is better, when the inner spherical radius is a little bigger than artificially acetabulum. Also, except the high –usage of stuff, it can prove the best balance performance and provide theoretical foundation to the optimum design of artificial acetabulum.

Justamente, a partir de estas tecnologías se espera que para los próximos años se desarrollen un sin número de aplicaciones relacionadas a la toma de decisiones en; el transporte (vehículos autónomos), asistentes personales y gru- pales (robots autónomos inteligentes, asistentes vir- tuales), hogares digitales conectados, interfaces cere- bro - computadora, biochips, etc. Aunque pareciera que estas tecnologías proceden de la ciencia ficción, no es así, pues en este momento grupos y redes de investigación alrededor del mundo están trabajando en perfeccionar las mismas, de tal forma de disponer de insumos tecnológicos innova- dores. Muchas de las aplicaciones en desarrollo, de- penden de sensores que proporcionen información del entorno y que permiten al organismo artificial5 entrenar una serie de datos, para la posterior toma de decisiones. Saona Island hosts the last hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) nesting population in the Dominican Republic, which has experienced a severe decline in the last decades, mostly due to illegal egg take. Here we present the results of an artificial incubation programme started in 2007 to protect the clutches from human predation. A preliminary survey in 2006 showed that about 60% of clutches laid were taken by humans. Over the study period (2007–2010) we recorded 400 clutches, of which 38.2% were predated by humans, 40.7% were artificially incubated and 21% were incubated in situ. Overall, the artificial incubation programme allowed the release of 12,340 hatchlings. No differences were found in hatching and emergence success between clutches incubated in situ and clutches artificially incubated. However, incubation temperatures and incubation durations recorded suggest a male-biased hatchling sex-ratio in artificially incubated clutches. Although artificial incubation may mitigate the effect of egg take, our results indicate that other measures, such as clutch relocation to protected sections of the beach should be taken. Beach patrolling and education are currently implemented so that artificial incubation will be eventually phased out in favour of in situ incubation.

Abstract:

The article aims at clarifying the concept artificial sociality in the human-machine interaction by answering the question whether artificial sociality is a prerequisite or a result of this interaction. The authors conducted a logical analysis of the definitions of sociality and artificial sociality as presented in the scientific literature, and conducted an empirical study of artificial sociality in the human-machine interaction with three methods - comparison of means, correlation analysis and discriminant analysis. All three methods were used in the analysis of the same data: indicators of the potential of the human-machine interaction and G. Hofstedes six cultural dimensions. With these measurements of culture, the authors interpreted empirically the degree of its artificiality (based on the methodological assumption about the combination of natural and artificial in culture) which determines the development of artificial sociality. Based on the results of the application of three methods of statistical analysis, the authors conclude that in the contemporary world, there are both conditionally artificial cultures that are the most favourable for the development of artificial (algorithmic) sociality and conditionally natural cultures that hinder the development of artificial sociality. This type of sociality emerged under the development of writing and various methods of processing and storing information (catalogues, archives, etc.), i.e., long before the creation of machines. Artificial sociality is determined by the relative artificiality of culture, and is a prerequisite rather than a result of the human-machine interaction.

Specimens of three Al-Mg-Si alloys, 6060, 6005 and 6082, were solution heat treated, stored at different temperatures for different time, and artificially aged. Properties were measured before and after artificial ageing. The natural ageing response of the alloys is dependent on the storage temperature. Decreasing storage temperature leads to a delayed onset of natural ageing, but also to a higher strength after prolonged ageing, particularly for lean alloys such as 6060. The temperature and time of intermediate storage between solution heat treatment and artificial ageing has a significant effect on the strength of the artificially aged material. For the 6005 and 6082 alloys the processes that take place during natural ageing lead to a reduced strength after artificial ageing.

This study's purpose was to examine the influence of an altered activity level, via artificial rearing, on the contractile properties, myosin heavy chain phenotypes (MHC), and muscle fiber sizes of the developing rat tongue retractor musculature. Artificially reared rat pups were fed through a gastric cannula, eliminating nutritive suckling from postnatal day 4 to postnatal day 14. Rat pups were observed immediately following artificial rearing (postnatal day 14) and after a 1-mo resumption of function (postnatal day 42). The contractile characteristics of the tongue retractor musculature were measured in response to stimulation of the hypoglossal nerve. At postnatal day 14, artificially reared rat pups demonstrated significantly longer twitch half-decay times, lower fusion frequencies, and a marked decrease in fatigue resistance. These contractile speed and fatigue characteristics were fully recovered following a 1-mo resumption of function. MHC phenotypes of the styloglossus muscle (a tongue retractor) were determined by gel electrophoresis. At postnatal day 14, artificial rearing had not altered the MHC phenotype or muscle fiber sizes of the styloglossus muscle. However, following a 1-mo resumption of function artificially reared rat pups demonstrated a small but significant increase in MHCIIa expression and decrease in MHCIIb expression compared with dam-reared rats. These results support artificial rearing as a useful model for altering the activity level of the tongue and suggest that normal suckling behavior is necessary for the normal postnatal development of the tongue retractor musculature. This may also be the case for premature infants necessarily fed artificially.

En las pequeñas empresas se realiza de forma manual obteniendo deficiencias en la calidad del producto. Estos problemas se podrían resolver o disminuir con la implementación de algoritmos inteligentes que en este caso incluyen visión artificial y redes neuronales artificiales. En este proyecto se presenta la clasificación de manzanas mediante un algoritmo inteligente, usando una red neuronal convolucional (CNN), la cual se desarrolla utilizando librerías de código abierto (OpenCV, Tensorflow y Keras) en Python con una estructura de diferentes capas convolucionales y MaxPooling, para un conjunto de 2,800 imágenes de 128x128 pixeles, de las cuales el 80% se utilizaron para entrenamiento y el 20% para hacer una prueba de la red, obteniendo una precisión del 98.3% y del 95.36%, respectivamente. Después del entrenamiento, se realizó una clasificación con un video en tiempo real, obteniendo una precisión del 92.25%. Asimismo, se explora la posibilidad de la utilización en la industria con la clasificación por otras características visuales del fruto como tamaño, color, forma, etc.

Attempts to artificially incubate the eggs of wild birds have failed in many respects in duplicating the success of natural incubation. As part of a larger study we had the opportunity to artificially incubate the eggs of 22 species of birds (three domestic and 19 wild species). We report the successes and failures associated with artificial incubation of these eggs. Moisture loss varied widely, not only for Orders of birds but for similar species within an Order. Overall hatching success and success through to 90% of incubation varied for different Orders and for similar species. Humidity and temperature are critical elements in the artificial incubation of wild bird eggs and must be closely monitored throughout incubation to ensure the best possible chance of hatching. Even when these elements are addressed, artificial incubation still cannot duplicate the success of incubation by the parent.

Dental materials are specific materials that were developed as a general materials for specific aplication in oral environment. To determinate the functional properties of this materials, we are obligated to use nonstandard approach and specific methods. In this study, two methodologies of material testing-artificial agging and quantification of visual informations for life circle assessment of hydroxyapatite (Hap) based materials, were used. Hap was chemically synthetized which produced the material with high purity and crystallinity. Artificially produced Hap is used in stomatology for repair of bone tissue, as a filling for periodontal defects, and as a preservative augmentation for alveolar ridges. In the mean time those materials are used for definitive root canal obturation in endodontic therapy procedure as an apical plug or as complete filling material. This research was focused on the analysis of the bonding properties of the Hap based materials to the root canal walls. The methodology of artificial agging was used together with the quantification of visual informations in purpose to quantify the Hap bonding properties and bonding quality. Experiments were done in-vitro, with the artificia saliva as the agressive agent. The experimental tooths were analyzed by the high resolution optical microscope for the morphological characterisation of the bonding layer. The model for the bond life circle assessment was developed. Hap based materials proved that has favorable properties for the dental use. The presented results proved that the combination of two methodologies (artificial agging and quantification of visual informations could be used as the tool for analyzing the material-dentine interaction.

Groundwater artificial recharge and medium characteristics represent the major factors in controlling the groundwater flow processes in managed aquifer recharge areas. According to the depositional features of alluvial fans, an analogous homogeneous phreatic sand tank aquifer and the corresponding inhomogeneous scale numerical models were established to investigate the groundwater flow under the combined influence of artificial recharge (human activities) and decaying hydraulic conductivity (medium characteristics). In this study, groundwater flow through a managed aquifer recharge area in an alluvial fan was analyzed under the conditions of decaying hydraulic conductivity (K) with depth or length from apex to apron. The results showed that groundwater flow processes induced by artificial recharge were significantly controlled by the increasing decay exponents of K. The decaying K with depth or length in alluvial fan areas expanded the degree of influence of artificial recharge on groundwater flow. With the increase of decay exponents, the flow directions gradually changed from a horizontal to vertical direction. Groundwater age and spatial variability could also be increased by the increasing decay exponents. The residence time distributions (RTDs) of ambient groundwater and artificially recharged water exhibited logarithmic, exponential, and power law behavior. Penetration depth and travel times of ambient groundwater flow could be affected by artificial recharge and decay exponents. Furthermore, with the increase of decay exponents, the thickness of the artificially recharged water lens and travel times of artificially recharged water were increased. These findings have important implications for the performance of managed aquifer recharge in alluvial fan areas as well as the importance of considering the gradual decrease of K with depth and length.

O presente trabalho teve por objetivo desenvolver uma dieta artificial para a criação da traça-do-tomateiro (Tuta absoluta) sem a dependência do hospedeiro natural (tomateiro). A dieta empregada tem como fontes protéicas germe de trigo, levedura, caseína e farelo de soja, além do feijão, que foi a variável do trabalho. A dieta mais adequada para a criação da traça-do-tomateiro foi o hospedeiro natural, no caso, as folhas de tomateiro ‘Santa Clara’ e, dentre os meios artificiais, o que se mostrou mais promissor foi aquele com feijão Branco acrescido de pó de folha de tomateiro. Abstract:

Artificial freezing ground method has been widely used in tunnels, metro and other projects, in the connecting passage in metro, the artificial frozen soil wall, which is formed by artificial freezing method, is often used as temporary support. The artificial frozen soil wall is in the joint action of pressure and bending moment, for it takes the upper pressure and lateral earth pressure at same time, so there may be tensile stress in the profile, which may cause brittle failure. At present, some scholars have carried out researches on the tensile strength with different test methods, but they are insufficiency and have a certain difference in stress state between the specimen and the actual support structure. A bending test instrument was designed and manufacture, which satisfies the code’s requirements, and reduces the error caused by poor contact between the specimen and loading device. Bending test on artificially frozen soils was launched using this instrument, and the test on influence law of moisture content and freezing temperature on artificially frozen soils’ strength was also launched. The conclusions can provide a reference for design and construction.

Avaliou-se dietas artificiais, para operárias médias de Atta sexdens rubropilosa Forel isoladas de formigueiros de laboratório e de campo. Os bioensaios foram realizados com 6 formigas/placa de Petri, sendo 10 placas/tratamento, em câmara ambiental a 24 ± 1 °C e UR > 70%. Não houve diferença na sobrevivência entre as operárias de laboratório e de campo, quando tratadas com dieta artificial líquida. Ao se comparar as dietas artificiais líquida e sólida, pode-se constatar que não houve diferença na sobreviência das operárias de laboratório tratadas com as diferentes dietas. A dieta artificial sólida com troca a cada 48 h, até 25 dias, representa uma alternativa para se trabalhar com operárias médias de A. sexdens rubropilosa, isoladas do formigueiro, em bioensaios de laboratório.
