Abstract:

The article addresses the semantic features of English artionyms represented by British and American painting of the XX-XXI c. There is no generally accepted term for a work of art in onomastics at the moment, but more scientists use the concept of “artionym” as a key term. Within the framework of this study, British and American artionyms are subjected to comparative analysis in order to describe the semantic features of the units studied. The description of the semantic similarities and differences of the units in question are subsequently justified by the findings of semantic analyses.

The subject of this article is the semiotics of a painting as a work of art. The object of the study is the functioning of the title of a painting as a sign constituting its semiotic space. We consider the combinations of the periphrastic nature of “wolf’s sun”, “wolf’s sunshine”, “sun of wolves”, “sun of wolf”, which are used to name the night time image in the titles of the television shows and poetic texts. Abstract:

Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy zbadanej w niewielkim stopniu tematyki przekładu eseju związanego z historią sztuki. Materiałem analizy posłużyło polskie tłumaczenie Obrazów Włoch Pawła Muratowa dokonane przez Pawła Hertza. Na początku przedstawiono kontekst wydania dzieła w Polsce. W dalszej części artykułu wymieniono podstawowe problemy translatorskie, związane z przekładem ekfrazy: tłumaczenie terminów sztuk pięknych, kalki i zapożyczenia z innych języków. Najbardziej skupiono się jednak na problemie przekładu nazw własnych, a zwłaszcza tytułów dzieł sztuki, określanych terminem „artionim”. N
