Abstract:
The trial and verdict of Rakim Mayers, also known as ASAP Rocky, caused major media attention during the summer of 2019. The aim of this bachelor study was to examine how news journalism represented the case “ASAP Rocky” in Swedish tabloids. The research questions examined were: How does journalism portray the story of the victim and perpetrator in the case “ASAP Rocky” ? What are the differences and similarities in how victim and perpetrator are constructed? How does the story develop in Swedish tabloids during the case “ASAP Rocky”?    We used Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis (CDA) to identify reoccurring discourses in the description of the case “ASAP Rocky”. By examining the characters, victim and perpetrator in Swedish tabloids, we found that there was no idealistic role portrayed in the case. Both the victim and the perpetrator were described as insufficient. One discursive theme was that the victim is inadequate since ASAP Rocky´s status as a celebrity provides him an advantage. This discourse is identified also in texts describing ASAP Rocky as a perpetrator. The study showed that the different discourses concern moral values in various contradictions, such as good - evil, right - wrong and “we” versus “them”.    Our study shows that the discourses we found contributes to the creation of celebrities and the discourse that celebrities are unreachable. The conclusion of this study is that media contributes to the stereotype of celebrities.

Abstract:
<p>Hårdgörning av trä syftar till att göra materialet hårdare. Detta går att åstadkomma genom komprimering, det komprimerade materialet tenderar dock att återgå mot sin ursprungsform då materialet utsätts för fukt om ingen låsning sker. Låsningen kan ske mekaniskt i en treskiktskonstruktion som motverkar träets fuktrörelser. Dessa skivor har dock visat sig vara instabila och tidigare försök har uppvisat deformationer i form av kupning. Denna undersökning syftar till att utreda förutsättningarna för att använda komprimerad asp samt att ta fram underlag för framtagning av en kommersiell produkt.</p><p>Praktiska tester har genomförts för att studera hårdhet, återfjädring och densitet hos det komprimerade virket. Vidare har treskiktsskivor tagits fram för att testa om det går att få en stabil konstruktion genom att variera tjockleken på spärrskiktet. Även skillnader i acklimatiseringstid och fuktkvotens inverkan för virkets återfjädring har studerats.</p><p>Resultaten visar på att aspens hårdhet efter komprimering blir i samma nivå som bok och ask, en låg fuktkkvot vid komprimering av materialet ger en låg återfjädring, komprimerat material har en längre acklimatiseringstid till jämviktsfuktkvot och materialet går att låsa tvärs fiberriktningen i en treskiktskonstruktion.</p><br><p>To make wood harder it can be densified. This can be achieved by compression, the compressed material tends to return to the original shape when it is exposed to moisture fluxations and if no form of fixation occurs. The fixation can be done mechanically in a three-layer panel construction which reduce movements in the timber. These panels have been found to be unstable and previous attempts have shown deformations in form of cupping. This study aims to evaluate the conditions for using compressed aspen wood, and to provide a basis for development of a commercial product.</p><p>Practical tests have been conducted to study hardness, springback and density of the compressed wood. In addition, three-layer panels have been developed to test whether it is possible to have a stable construction by varying the thickness of the buttom layer. Differences in acclimatisation time and the moisture contents effect on the springback has aslo been studied.</p><p>The results show that the hardness of aspen wood after compression is in equal levels with beech and ashes, a low moisture contet provides a low springback, compressed timber have a longer time for acclimatisation and it is possible to fixate the material in the direction across the grain in a three-layer panel construction.</p>

I began with my study from Microsoft .NET Framework, which provides all tools and technologies for creating .NET aplications. I described features a structure ASP.NET. I followed also, for my project, very important tool ADO.NET, which contains rich group of functions for manipulation with lot of date types. In text I also described object model of this tool. One of parts is about very important ObjectDataSource class. Next part of my project is devote to SQL database and tools for managing and manipulation. One chapters is devote to System register, which serve for database description. Next is described some of realization this type of program. My work is finished by description of my program. Here are aplications of mentioned technologies, which together forms web aplication and her output is web page for data presentation.

This thesis introduces the concept of assertion-based verifi cation of application-specifi c instruction set processors (ASIPs). The proposed design is implemented in SystemVerilog Assertions language as a part of veri fication environment created using Codasip Framework. The implemented concept is simulated in QuestaSim tool using model of Codix RISC processor. Main outcome of this thesis is the verifi cation concept usable not only on other processors, but as a part of system that automates the processor design as well.

The goal of this dissertation is to implement an application for ASP to ASPX conversion. The ASP pages should be written in the VBScript language, the target language for ASPX will be C#. The application is developed on the .NET platform. The conversion process should be automatic. There should be no need to alter the converted files by a programmer. The first part of this dissertation introduces the whole problematic. It shows also current solutions. The next part is the analysis and the design of the application itself. The main part of this dissertation is the VBScript grammar conversion, problems while conversion and its solving.

This thesis analyses the relation between rook covers over Ferrers boards and the Asymetric Exclusion Process (ASEP). A polynomial  defined over the set of all possible rook covers has been suggested to be identical to the polynomial that gives the probabilities of the stationary distribution of the ASEP. In this thesis a draft is presented of a possible proof by induction of this claim, and parts of this induction are proved. Further results regarding  that would follow from the main claim are also independently proved and a complete proof of the claim, invented by another author, is presented for the sake of completeness.<br>I den här uppsatsen undersöks förhållandet mellan tornplaceringar på Ferrersbräden och den asymmetriska exklusionsprocessen (ASEP). Ett polynom över alla möjliga tornplaceringar har föreslagits vara ekvivalent med polynomet som ger sannolikheterna i den stationära fördelningen för ASEP. Ett utkast till ett induktionsbevis av detta påstående presenteras i den här upsatsen. Vidare resultat kring (q) som skulle följa från detta huvudpåstående bevisas separat och ett mer utförligt bevis av huvudpåståendet skapat av en annan författare presenteras också.

Abstract:
Epithelial cells are connected to each other via intercellular junctions, which are established, remodelled and maintained by a complex molecular machinery. Aberrant regulation of cell-cell junctions leads to loss of tissue organisation and is a hallmark of cancer formation. Although many kinases that regulate the phosphorylation of junctional proteins have been described, much less is known about the reversal of phosphorylation by phosphatases. This thesis investigates the role of Drosophila ASPP, a scaffold protein that is localised at adherens junctions, as a regulatory subunit for PP1s. In vitro, ASPP can bind to PP1 using its RVXF motif and SH3 domain. In vivo, ASPP co-localises with the PP1a96A and PP1b9C isoforms at cell-cell junctions in the pupal retina and ASPP function is at least partially dependent on its ability to bind to PP1. Furthermore, ASPP can recruit two additional coiled coil containing scaffold proteins, RASSF8 and Ccdc85, to form trimeric complexes with PP1a96A. ccdc85 mutants that were generated in this work have a rough eye, similar to ASPP mutants, suggesting a similar function in vivo. Two potential substrates for the ASPP/PP1 complex were tested: (1) Yki a transcriptional co-activator that is part of the Hippo pathway and (2) Baz, a scaffold protein that is required for cell polarity. Although no evidence for dephosphorylation of Yki was found, Baz can be dephosphorylated in vitro. The well-described aPKC phosphorylation site (S980) and five additional serine/threonine residues are strongly dephosphorylated by ASPP/PP1. My work also identified three potential regulators/scaffolds of ASPP/PP1. The Hippo pathway kinase Wts can phosphorylate RASSF8, the E3 ubiquitin ligase Sina can ubiquitylate and degrade ASPP and the junctional protein Magi can associate with RASSF8 at adherens junctions. Finally, novel potential regulators, scaffolds or substrates of the ASPP/PP1 complex were identified through AP-MS experiments and tested for their ability to modulate the ASPP depletion phenotype in vivo.

Abstract:
Asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) is a driven stochastic lattice model of particles that move preferentially in one direction. If particles move only in one direction, the model is known as totally asymmetric process. Conventionally, preferred direction of motion is chosen to be to the right. Particles interact through the hard core exclusion rule, meaning that no more than one particle is allowed to occupy one lattice site. In this work following ASEP models are presented. First we study square diagonal lattice with particles that occupy one lattice site and move along the square diagonals. Mean-field theory was developed for this model. The results that were obtained are the dependency of the current on density of the particles, spatial density distribution along the horizontal direction and the phase diagram of the system. Mean-field theory results were compared to simulations. Next model was lattice with extended particles, i.e. particles that occupy more than one lattice site. Unlike the first model, in this system the particle-hole symmetry is broken. Results for current flow, density distribution and phase diagrams were obtained both by mean-field theory and Monte-Carlo (MC) simulations. Another system was the lattice with vertical particle drift. Now particles that occupy one lattice site jump not only in one preferred horizontal directions but there is also one preferred vertical direction for particle flow. Both mean-field theory and simulations were studied for this system and results were compared. Also we explore the system with immovable obstacle. Obstacle is one or several particles located at fixed positions. In this model we observe increase in particle density in front of the obstacle and "shadow" behind it. It is expected that the shape and size of those formations are symmetrical in transverse direction.

Abstract:
In the last ten years, limited clock frequency scaling and increasing power density has shifted IC design focus towards parallelism, heterogeneity and energy efficiency. Improving energy efficiency is by no means simple and it calls for a reevaluation of old design choices in processor architecture, and perhaps more importantly, development of new programming methodologies that exploit the features of modern architectures. This thesis discusses the design of energy-efficient digital signal processors with application-specific instructions sets, so-called ASIP-DSPs, and their programming tools. Target applications for such processors include, but are not limited to, communications, multimedia, image processing, intelligent vision and radar. These applications are often implemented by a limited set of kernel algorithms, whose performance and efficiency are critical to the application's success. At the same time, the extreme non-recurring engineering cost of system-on-chip designs means that product life-time must be kept as long as possible. Neither general-purpose processors nor non-programmable ASICs can meet both the flexibility and efficiency requirements, and ASIPs may instead be the best trade-off between all the conflicting goals. Traditional superscalar- and VLIW processor design focus has been to improve the throughput of fine-grained instructions, which results in high flexibility, but also high energy consumption. SIMD architectures, on the other hand, are often restricted by inefficient data access. The result is architectures which spend more energy and/or time on supporting operations rather than actual computing. This thesis defines the performance limit of an architecture with an N-way parallel datapath as consuming 2N elements of compute data per clock cycle. To approach this performance, this work proposes coarse-grained higher-order functional (HOF) instructions, which encode the most  frequently executed compute-, data access- and control sequences into single many-cycle instructions, to reduce the overheads of instruction delivery, while at the same time maintaining orthogonality. The work further investigates opportunities for operation fusion to improve computing performance, and proposes a flexible memory subsystem for conflict-free parallel memory access with permutation and lookup-table-based addressing, to ensure that high computing throughput can be sustained even in the presence of irregular data access patterns. These concepts are extensively studied by implementing a large kernel algorithm library with typical DSP kernels, to prove their effectiveness and adequacy. Compared to contemporary VLIW DSP solutions, our solution can practically eliminate instruction fetching energy in many scenarios, significantly reduce control path switching, simplify the implementation of kernels and reduce code size, sometimes by as much as 30 times. The techniques proposed in this thesis have been implemented in the DSP platform ePUMA (embedded Parallel DSP processor with Unique Memory Access), a configurable control-compute heterogeneous platform with distributed memory, optimized for low-power predictable DSP computing. Hardware evaluation has been done with FPGA prototypes. In addition, several VLSI layouts have been created for energy and area estimations. This includes smaller designs, as well as a large design with 73 cores, capable of 1280 integer GOPS or 256 GFLOPS at 500MHz and which measures 45mm2 in 28nm FD-SOI technology. In addition to the hardware design, this thesis also discusses parallel programming flow for distributed memory architectures and ePUMA application implementation. A DSP kernel programming language and its compiler is presented. This effectively demonstrates how kernels written in a high-level language can be translated into HOF instructions for very high processing efficiency.

Abstract:
The Arizona Student Assessment Program (ASAP) is a major piece of legislation for Arizona, reducing norm-referenced standardized testing, providing performance-based assessments matching curriculum, requiring district articulation with state curriculum frameworks and assessments, collecting contextual information from districts, and producing complete profiles of schools, districts and the state. In its first year of implementation, the ASAP is appropriately examined through policy analysis rather than through an evaluation study. Six criteria for educational policy analysis developed by Mitchell (1986) were validated and used as interview questions with seven interviewees knowledgeable about the ASAP. Results of the interviews suggest the degree to which the ASAP is good educational policy and likely to make a difference in Arizona. Interviewees indicated that the ASAP is democratic, providing for both the needs of legitimate stakeholders and the general public interest. It recognizes and supports the organizational integrity of schools only if schools have begun to make some reform efforts of their own in the direction of the ASAP. The ASAP provides adequate means-end linkage for the first two years of implementation, including through school, district, and state profiles, but may need to provide additional help to districts during the first two years; furthermore, relief incentives may be needed, rather than sanctions or disincentives, to encourage continued implementation. The ASAP may not be integrated into overall state educational policy, primarily because there has been no unifying state policy until the ASAP. The ASAP may emerge as a force to reorient current and unify future policy. The ASAP will be expensive, but the interviewees felt the short and long-term benefits justify cost. The ASAP was the most politically feasible policy available to bring about the changes needed, but perhaps not the most palatable, especially to districts that have made no reform efforts of their own. Policy analysis using different criteria and evaluation studies are recommended.

Abstract Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques have been adopted since the third generation (3G) wireless communication standard to increase the spectral efficiency, data rate and reliability. The blessings of MIMO technologies for the baseband transceiver comes with the price of added complexity. Therefore, research on VLSI architectures for MIMO signal processing has generated a lot of interest over the past two decades. The advent of massive MIMO as a key technology for the fifth generation (5G) era also increased the interest in VLSI architectures related to MIMO communication research. In this thesis, we explored different VLSI architectures for MIMO detection and precoding algorithms. The detection and precoding are the most complex parts of a MIMO baseband transceiver. We focused on algorithm and architecture optimization and presented several VLSI architectures for MIMO detection and precoding. The thesis proposed an application specific instruction-set processor (ASIP) for a multimode small-scale MIMO detector. In a single design the detector supports minimum mean-square error (MMSE), selective spanning with fast enumeration (SSFE) and list sphere detection (LSD). In addition, a multiprocessor architecture is proposed in this thesis for a lattice reduction (LR) algorithm. A modified Lenstra-Lenstra-Lovasz (LLL) algorithm is proposed for LR to reduce the complexity of the original LLL algorithm. We also propose a massive MIMO detection algorithm based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). The algorithm is referred to as ADMM based infinity norm (ADMIN) constrained equalization. The ADMIN detection algorithm is implemented as an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and for field programmable gate array (FPGA). A multimode precoder ASIP is also proposed in this thesis. In a single design, the ASIP supports norm-based scheduling, QR-decomposition, MMSE precoding and dirty paper coding (DPC) based precoding<br>Tiivistelmä Moni-tulo moni-lähtö (MIMO) -tekniikoita on sopeutettu kolmannen sukupolven (3G) langattomasta viestintästandardista alkaen spektritehokkuuden, tiedonsiirtonopeuden ja luotettavuuden parantamiseksi. MIMO-teknologioilla on useita hyviä puolia suhteessa peruskaistan vastaanottimeen, mutta samalla monimutkaisuus on lisääntynyt. VLSI-arkkitehtuurien tutkimus MIMO-signaalinkäsittelyssä on sen vuoksi herättänyt paljon kiinnostusta viimeisen kahden vuosikymmenen aikana. Myös MIMO:n saavuttama asema viidennen sukupolven (5G) viestintästandardin pääteknologiana on lisännyt kiinnostusta VLSI-arkkitehtuureihin MIMO-viestinnän tutkimuksessa. Tässä tutkielmassa on tutkittu erilaisia VLSI-arkkitehtuureja MIMO-signaalien tunnistus- ja esikoodausalgoritmeissa. Signaalien tunnistus ja esikoodaus ovat peruskaistaa käyttävän MIMO-vastaanottimen monimutkaisimmat osa-alueet. Tutkielmassa on keskitytty algoritmien ja arkkitehtuurien optimointiin ja esitetty useita VLSI-arkkitehtuureja MIMO-signaalien tunnistusta ja esikoodausta varten. Tutkielmassa on ehdotettu sovelluskohtaisen prosessorin (Application Specific Instruction-set Processor eli ASIP) käyttä pienen mittakaavan monimuotodetektorissa. Detektorin rakenne tukee samanaikaisesti keskineliöpoikkeaman minimointia (MMSE), SSFE (Selective Spanning with Fast Enumeration) -algoritmia ja LSD (List Sphere Detection) -algoritmia. Lisäksi tässä tutkielmassa ehdotetaan monisuoritinarkkitehtuuria hilan redusointialgoritmille (Lattice Reduction eli LR). LR-algoritmia varten ehdotetaan muokattua Lenstra-Lenstra-Lovasz (LLL) -algoritmia vähentämään alkuperäisen LLL-algoritmin monimutkaisuutta. Lisäksi MIMO-signaalien tunnistusalgoritmin perustaksi ehdotetaan vuorottelevaa kertoimien suuntaustapaa Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers eli ADMM). ADMM-perustaisesta taajuusvasteen rajoitetusta ääretön-normi-korjauksesta (infinity norm constrained equalization) käytetään nimitystä ADMIN-algoritmi. ADMIN-tunnistusalgoritmi toteutetaan sovelluskohtaisena integroituna piirinä (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit eli ASIC) ohjelmoitavaa porttimatriisia (Field Programmable Gate Array eli FPGA) varten. Abstract:
Au cours de la division cellulaire, la mise en place d’un fuseau bipolaire correct est nécessaire au maintien de la stabilité génomique, en permettant une ségrégation égale des chromosomes dans les deux cellules filles. Les microtubules, éléments constitués d’un assemblage de tubuline sous une forme cylindrique et creuse, sont les constituants de base de ce fuseau mitotique. Lors de l’assemblage du fuseau, les centrosomes se séparent, et des changements surviennent au niveau de la dynamique des microtubules. Cependant, sans les propriétés fonctionnelles d’autres protéines venant réguler cette dynamique, les microtubules ne seraient pas capables d’accomplir seuls les tâches qui leurs sont attribuées. Les protéines responsables de cette régulation sont les Protéines associées aux Microtubules ou MAPs. Des variations de la stabilité et de la dynamique des microtubules sont susceptibles d’atteindre la formation et l’organisation du fuseau mitotique ainsi que l’attachement des chromosomes, et peuvent provoquer des problèmes d’ instabilité génétique et la cancérogenèse. Nous avons identifié au laboratoire une nouvelle protéine humaine associée aux microtubules que nous avons appelé ASAP pour ASter-Associated Protein. La protéine ASAP est associée au fuseau mitotique. Sa surexpression entraîne des mitoses aberrantes et abortives (fuseaux multipolaires et cellules multinucléées avec une amplification des centrosomes, fuseaux monopolaires avec non séparation/migration des centrosomes). Ces phénotypes sont fréquemment observés dans des cancers. Sa déplétion provoque des fuseaux anormaux, retarde la mitose en entraînant des défauts de congression et de ségrégation des chromosomes et aboutit à des cytokinèses abortives ou à la mort cellulaire. ASAP est donc une nouvelle MAP jouant un rôle crucial au cours du cycle cellulaire. Une étude plus ciblée sur son implication dans la régulation de la dynamique et de l’organisation des microtubules a ensuite été entreprise afin de mieux comprendre l’impact d’ASAP au niveau du réseau de microtubules. Nous avons ainsi pu mettre en évidence une implication étendue de la protéine, tant au niveau des différentes phases dynamiques de la polymérisation, qu’au niveau de l’assemblage et de l’organisation des microtubules. Nous avons également clairement mis en évidence la présence d’ASAP aux centrosomes, avec la possibilité pour cette protéine de participer à la nucléation des microtubules, un rôle qu’il reste encore cependant à démontrer in vivo.

De nombreuses techniques de codage de canal sont spécifiées dans les nouvelles normes de communications numériques, chacune adaptée à des besoins applicatifs spécifiques (taille de trame, type de canal de transmission, rapport signal-à-bruit, bande-passante, etc. ). Si l'on considère les applications naissantes multi-mode et multi-standard, ainsi que l'intérêt croissant pour la radio logicielle et la radio cognitive, la combinaison de plusieurs techniques de correction d'erreur devient incontournable. Néanmoins, des solutions optimales en termes de performance, de consommation d'énergie et de surface sont encore à inventer et ne doivent pas être négligées au profit de la flexibilité. Dans ce contexte, ce travail de thèse a exploré le modèle d'architecture multi-ASIP dans le but d¿unifier l'approche orientée sur la flexibilité et celle orientée sur l'optimalité dans la conception de décodeurs de canal flexibles. En considérant principalement les applications exigeantes de décodage itératif des turbocodes et des codes LDPC, des architectures multi-ASIP de décodeurs de canal sont proposées ciblant une grande flexibilité combinée à une haute efficacité architecturale en termes de bits/cycle/iteration/mm2. Différentes solutions architecturales et différentes approches de conception sont explorées pour proposer trois contributions originales. La première contribution concerne la conception d'un décodeur LDPC/Turbo multi-ASIP extensible, flexible et haut débit. Plusieurs objectifs de conception sont atteints en termes d'extensibilité, de partage de ressources, et de vitesse de configuration. Le décodeur proposé, nommé DecASIP, supporte le décodage des codes LDPC et turbocodes spécifiés dans les normes WiFi, WiMAX et LTE. L'extensibilité apportée par l'approche multi-ASIP basée sur des réseaux sur puces (NoC) permet d'atteindre les besoins en haut débit des normes actuelles et futures. La deuxième contribution concerne la conception d'un ASIP paramétré pour le turbo-décodage (TDecASIP). L'objectif étant d'étudier l'efficacité maximale atteignable pour un turbo décodeur basé sur le concept ASIP en maximisant l'exploitation du parallélisme de sous-blocs. En outre, avec cette architecture nous avons démontré la possibilité de concevoir des coeurs de traitement paramétrables et dédiés à l'application en utilisant le flot de conception ASIP existant. La troisième contribution correspond à la conception d'un ASIP optimisé pour le décodage des codes LDPC (LDecASIP). Comme pour TDecASIP, l'objectif étant d'étudier l'efficacité maximale atteignable pour un décodeur de codes LDPC basé sur le concept ASIP en augmentant le degré de parallélisme et la bande passante des mémoires. Une quatrième contribution principale de cette thèse porte sur le prototypage matériel. Une plateforme de communication complète intégrant 4-DecASIP pour le décodage de canal a été prototypé sur une carte à base de circuits FPGA. À notre connaissance, c'est le premier prototype FPGA publié de décodeur de canal flexible supportant le décodage des turbocodes et des codes LDPC avec une architecture multi-ASIP intégrant des NoC. De plus, une intégration ASIC de ce décodeur a été réalisée par le CEA-LETI dans la puce MAG3D visant des applications de communications pour la 4G. Ces résultats démontrent le cycle de conception rapide et l'efficacité offerte par l'approche de conception basée sur le concept ASIP dans ce domaine d'application, permettant ainsi d'affiner les compromis de conception par rapport aux divers objectifs ciblés<br>Large variety of channel coding techniques are specified in existing and emerging digital communication standards, each suitable for specific application needs (frame size, transmission channel, signal-to-noise ratio, bandwidth, etc). Considering the emerging multi-mode and multi-standard applications, as well as the increasing interest for Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Cognitive Radio (CR) applications, flexible implementations combining multiple error correction techniques becomes mandatory. However, the need of optimal solutions in terms of performance, area, and power consumption is increasing too and cannot be neglected against flexibility. In this context, this thesis work has investigated multi-ASIP architecture model towards the target of unifying flexibility-oriented and optimization-oriented approaches in the design of flexible channel decoders. By considering mainly the challenging Turbo and LDPC decoding applications, multi-ASIP channel decoder architectures are proposed targeting high flexibility combined with high architecture efficiency in terms of bits/cycle/iteration/mm2. Different architecture alternatives and design approaches are explored. Three original contributions have been proposed. The first one concerns the design of a scalable and flexible high throughput multi-ASIP LDPC/Turbo decoder. Several design objectives have been attained in this work in terms of scalability, resource sharing, and configurability speed. The proposed DecASIP supports the decoding of LDPC and Turbo codes specified in WiFi, WiMAX, and LTE standards. The achieved scalability through the multi-ASIP NoC based approach enables the accommodation of current and future high throughput requirements. The second contribution concerns the design of a parameterized ASIP for Turbo decoding (TDecASIP). Here the objective was to investigate the maximum attainable architecture efficiency for ASIP-based Turbo decoding when maximizing the usage of sub-block parallelism. Furthermore, with this architecture we demonstrated the possibility to design application-specific parameterized cores using the available ASIP design flow. The third contribution corresponds to the design of an optimized ASIP for LDPC decoding (LDecASIP). As for TDecASIP, the objective was to investigate the maximum attainable architecture efficiency for ASIP-based LDPC decoding by increasing the parallelism degree and the necessary memory bandwidth. A fourth main contribution of this thesis work concerns the hardware prototyping. A complete communication system platform including 4-DecASIP channel decoder has been prototyped on an FPGA-based logic emulation board. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstrated multi-ASIP NoC-based FPGA prototype that is capable of decoding LDPC and Turbo (SBTC and DBTC) codes. Furthermore, an ASIC integration of the 4-DecASIP system decoder has been accomplished by the CEA-LETI on the MAG3D Telecom chip which targets 4G communication applications. <p>Bakgrunden till denna undersökning är den växande ASP-marknaden samt säkerhetsproblematiken som finns i en ASP-lösning.</p><p>Syftet är att utreda de säkerhetsaspekter som bör beaktas vid en Application Service Provider (ASP)-lösning. Olika aspekter har samlats in dels från litteraturen och dels med hjälp av intervjuer. En uppdelning har gjorts med avseende på mål, hot och kontroll. De mål som först och främst behandlas är de som berör integritet, konfidentialitet och tillgänglighet. De hot som tas upp och som delvis är specifika för en ASP-lösning är ASP-företagets ekonomi och personal samt kommunikationskanalen mellan ASP-företag och ASP-kund. Kontroller som tas upp är med hänsyn till hoten ovan bland annat kontroll av ASP-företagens ekonomi, att personalen kontrollerats samt kontroll av kommunikationsförbindelserna mellan ASP-företaget och kunden. Resultatet av undersökningen är bland annat tio kontrollpunkter med de viktigaste frågorna som en blivande ASP-kund bör ställa till ASP-företaget.</p>

<p>This dissertation is carried out on behalf of Two i Sverige AB. Two is a consulting agency which primarily works with the development of homepages. The company has several of its complete applications written in ASP e.g. the development of homepages. At the agency they have seen benefit migrating these applications from ASP to the more flexible environment ASP.NET. The motivation for the migration is that the company hopes that by using this technique they will be able to shorten the delivery time of completed products to customers and to develop homepages created in a more modular way. All of Two’s applications are today written in ASP. The company has requested documentation of the migration process to save time and to create a common standard for forthcoming migrations.</p><p>This dissertation describes the migration process of two applications made by “Two i Sverige AB” developed for the Internet. Also included is documentation of how the migration process should be performed.</p><p>The result of the project is two migrated applications that work with the .NET framework and have the same functionality as the original applications. The documentation of the migration process has resulted in a homepage that is situated on the company’s intranet.</p><br><p>Arbetet som denna uppsats beskriver är utfört på uppdrag av Two i Sverige AB. Two är ett konsultbolag som i första hand arbetar med utveckling av hemsidor. Företaget har flera av sina färdiga applikationer för bl.a. uppbyggnad av hemsidor skrivna i språket ASP. Man har på företaget sett vinster med att konvertera dessa applikationer från ASP till den mer flexibla miljön ASP.NET. Motivering till konverteringen är att företaget anser att man efter konvertering till ASP.NET kommer att kunna förkorta leveranstiden av färdiga produkter till kund, samt lättare skapa hemsidor uppbyggda med moduler. Idag är Two:s samtliga applikationer skrivna i ASP. Företaget vill även ha en dokumentation över konverteringsprocessen för att spara tid och att skapa en gemensam standard inför kommande konverteringar.</p><p>Denna uppsats beskriver konverteringsprocessen för två av företagets applikationer och även dokumentation för hur konverteringsprocessen bör se ut.</p><p>Resultatet av arbetet är två konverterade applikationer som fungerar på .NET ramverket och har samma funktionalitet som de ursprungliga applikationerna. Dokumentationen av konverteringsprocessen har resulterat i en hemsida som är belägen på företagets intranät.</p>

The last couple of years the use of Internet has changed in the way that the web pages can be affected of the person that uses them. Because of this dynamic Internet technology has emerged that makes it possible for a web page to receive information from a web browser. This information can then be used to affect the appearance of the page. PHP and ASP are two dynamic Internet technologies. They are integrated in HTML and are executed on the web server. E-commerce and search pages are example of this kind of web pages. The purpose of this examine thesis is to find out which of the technologies that are best suited when information needs to be stored on the web server. The thesis turns mostly to programmers that are planning to create a web application for this purpose. The analysis, which consists of three main questions, is based on a literature study and on a web application that has been developed. The result of the analysis is that ASP is more complicated because more external components are included and a lot of objects has to be created. PHP is a much more structured technology and is simpler constructed. Our conclusion of this thesis is that the functionality within both technologies are basically the same. But because PHP´s code is constructed much simpler this technology is more suited for storing. De senaste åren har användningen av Internet ändrats på så sätt att webbsidor ska kunna påverkas av den som använder sig av dem. Därför har något som kallas dynamisk webbhantering skapats, vilket gör det möjligt för en webbsida att ta emot information från en webbläsare. PHP och ASP är två teknologier inom dynamisk webbhantering. De integreras i HTML-kod och exekveras på webbservern. Exempel på sådana sidor är e-handelsidor och söksidor. Detta examensarbete har gjorts för att ta reda på vilken av teknologierna som passar bäst när lagring av data på webbservern krävs. Arbetet vänder sig främst till programmerare som planerar att skapa en webbapplikation för detta ändamål. Analys har gjorts utifrån en frågeställning baserad på litteraturstudier och på programmering av en minde webbapplikation. Resultatet av analysen är att ASP, i just de frågor vi tagit upp, är mer komplicerat då externa komponenter blandas in och många objekt måste skapas. PHP är mycket mer strukturerat och enklare uppbyggt. Vår slutsats av arbetet är att funktionaliteten hos de båda teknologierna i stort sett är den samma, men på grund av att PHP är enklare kodningsmässigt sett är det denna teknologi som är bäst lämpad vid datalagring.

Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) encompasses a heterogeneous group of trophoblastic lesions. It includes hydatidiform mole (HM), choriocarcinoma (CCA), placental site trophoblastic tumour (PSTT) and epithelioid trophoblastic tumour (ETT). While the latter three are classical malignancies, HM represents abnormal placenta harbouring malignant potential and may develop persistent gestational trophoblastic neoplasm (GTN) requiring therapy. Apoptotic activity and p53 are known to be important in pathogenesis of GTD. However, understanding on the underlying mechanisms is still limited. ASPP1 and ASPP2 are the two tumour suppressor members of the apoptosis stimulating protein of p53 (ASPP) family that stimulate p53-dependent apoptotic pathway. In this study, a differential downregulation of ASPP1 and ASPP2 was observed in GTD, illustrating their distinct roles in the pathogenesis. Results showed that both ASPP1 mRNA and protein levels were significantly downregulated in HM and CCA, when compared with normal placentas by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and immunohistochemistry. Methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MS-PCR) in placenta and GTD samples demonstrated a significant correlation between ASPP1 mRNA level and their hypermethylation status (P = 0.024). Most importantly, lower ASPP1 immunoreactivity was found in HM that progressed into persistent GTN than HM that regressed (P = 0.045). Significant correlation was also found between expression of ASPP1 and apoptotic activity (M30 CytoDeath index), p53 and caspase-8 immunoreactivities. In CCA cell lines, namely JEG-3 and JAR, ectopic expression of ASPP1 triggered apoptosis through intrinsic and extrinsic pathways as indicated by an increase in cleaved caspase-9 and Fas ligand protein expression, demonstrating a potent tumour suppressive function through its proapoptotic nature. Downregulation of ASPP2 was mainly detected in choriocarcinoma, the most aggressive form of GTD. In vitro, results showed that ASPP2 was a multi-functional protein with activities not limited to apoptosis stimulation. While activated Src is important in tumour progression, transfection of ASPP2 but not ASPP1 was found to be related to decreased Src-pY416 phosphorylation. This suggested an inactivating effect of ASPP2 on Src. Moreover, this ASPP2-induced inactivation of Src could be abolished by RNA interference (RNAi) with Csk small interfering RNA. Corresponding effect on aggressive behaviors such as cell migration was also confirmed. Hence, loss of ASPP2 in the choriocarcinoma implicates its crucial role in tumourigenesis. FBI-1 is a transcription factor frequently overexpressed in human cancers. Recently, overexpression of FBI-1 in GTD in association with GTN development was also reported. However, its role in GTD pathogenesis remains elucidated at molecular basis. This study unveiled the ability of FBI-1 in contributing overt aggressiveness in GTD. Ectopic FBI-1 expression resulted in decrease in apoptosis and repression of pro-apoptotic genes such as Bak, Fas and caspase-8 at mRNA level in vitro. FBI-1 overexpression also promoted Akt activation as indicated by Akt-pS473 phosphorylation. Interestingly, effect of FBI-1 on cell motility and invasiveness was eradicated in the presence of specific PI3 kinase inhibitor LY294002. This demonstrated that FBI-1 could promote cell migration and invasion through PI3K/Akt signaling. No presente estudo investigamos a diversidade nucleotídica e os padrões de variabilidade presentes no gene ASIP, principalmente nas regiões codificadoras dos éxons 2 e 3 e em regiões não codificadoras dos íntrons 2 e 3 em alguns mamíferos, com ênfase em felídeos (Mammalia, Carnivora, Felidae). Através do alinhamento entre as espécies analisadas nesse estudo foi possível construir três bases de dados que foram divididas em diferentes blocos conforme as regiões de alinhamento. A análise comparativa de seqüências permitiu a caracterização de diferentes blocos de seqüência conservada, assim como a identificação de uma inserção SINE presente apenas no gato doméstico, de uma região repetitiva hipervariável em todos os felídeos analisados, e também de variantes moleculares (SNPs) em Felis catus e Leopardus geoffroyi. Nenhum dos polimorfismos identificados nesta espécie estava localizado em regiões exônicas ou apresentou associação a fenótipos de coloração, indicando que as regiões analisadas não estão envolvidas na indução do melanismo nesta espécie.

<p>S2 CRM is a Customer Relations Management system built in classic ASP that runs on a web server servicing customers with varying needs. The purpose of this thesis work is to convert parts of the system to the web development environment ASP.NET. The purpose is also to gain knowledge of the framework itself. The ASP.NET environment is compared with another framework, JBoss Seam, in order to understand the differences and to evaluate the possibility of using another framework than ASP.NET, when building the new system. The outcome of this comparison is that although JBoss Seam is just as good, and in some aspects better than ASP.NET, the use of ASP.NET simplifies the continuation of development on the S2 CRM product. The conversion that was made includes a way to share information between the new and the old system, an implementation of listing and search modules and an approach to the data model and techniques for achieving good performance. Modularity is also an important aspect of the work, and this was achieved by constructing controls that can be used in different contexts, configurable by configuration objects. The result of the thesis is a basic system for listing and searching that can coexist with the original system and that can be built further upon to create a new version of S2 CRM that fully runs on the ASP.NET platform.</p>

<p>Med ekonomiskt stöd från Stiftelsen för kunskaps- och kompetensutveckling skall ett lövträprojekt bedrivas under två års tid vid Institutionen för teknik och design på Växjö Universitet. Detta examensarbete ingår som en del av lövträprojektet, där böjhållfasthetsvärden och elasticitetsmoduler för asp tagits fram.</p><p>Virket har hållfasthetssorterats visuellt dels efter nordiska T-virkesstandarden INSTA 142, men även efter den brittiska standarden BS 4978-1996. Dessutom har en maskinell hållfasthetssortering av provkropparna genomförts i en böjprovningsmaskin av fabrikatet Cook-Bolinder. För vidare analyser av provkropparna har de körts i en WoodEye skanner som är en maskinell sorterings- och bildinläsningsapparat för sågat och hyvlat virke.</p><p>För att bestämma aspens elasticitetsmoduler och böjhållfasthet användes en böjprovningsmaskin av fabrikatet Alwetron. Global och lokal elasticitetsmodul har beräknats utifrån uppmätt nedböjning enligt den Europeiska standarden prEN 408:2003, därefter belastades provkroppen till brott för att få fram böjhållfastheten. Provkropparna har fotograferats innan påförd last, vid begynnande brott och slutligen efter brott. För möjlighet till ytterligare studier av de 150 provkroppar har en databas skapats med samtliga registrerade värden och foton.</p><br><p>With financially supports from the trust fond of the Knowledge Foundation a hardwood project will take part during two years at the School of Technology and Design at Växjö University. This report is one part in this project, were the bending strength and modulus of elasticity were evaluated for aspen.</p><p>The specimens were strength classified visually by using the Nordic standard INSTA 142 and by using the British standard BS 4978-1996. A classification was carried out by a bending strength grading machine named Cook-Bolinder. For further analysis the specimens were finally documented with a WoodEye scanner, which is a scanner that inspects and optimises sawn and planed timber.</p><p>An Alwetron, a bending strength grading machine, was used to determine modulus of elasticity and bending strength for aspen. Global and local modulus was calculated from the deflection according to the European standard prEN 408:2003. After that the specimens were loaded by tension to their ultimate strength so it was possible to evaluate the bending strength. Photos were taken of the specimens before, during and after loading. For further studies of the 150 specimens all values and pictures were saved.</p>

Abstract:
L’obésité est un problème de santé majeur qui se traduit par un déséquilibre du métabolisme énergétique. La protéine stimulant l’acylation (ASP, C3adesArg) est une protéine produite par le tissu adipeux qui stimule la synthèse des triglycérides (TG) et le transport du glucose en se liant à son récepteur C5L2. Nos études précédentes ont établi que les souris avec le gène C3 invalidé (C3KO) sont des souris déficientes en ASP, hyperphagiques, mais de poids normal, affichant une dépense énergétique plus élevée que les souris sauvages. C’est à partir de ces résultats que nous avons basé notre objectif de déterminer le rôle de la voie ASP-C5L2 dans le métabolisme énergétique et cela autant au niveau du cerveau que des organes périphériques. Lors de notre première étude, nous avons observé qu’une injection centrale d’ASP au niveau du troisième ventricule chez des rats Wistar, amenait une diminution de la prise alimentaire et du poids corporel ainsi qu’une augmentation de l’expression d’ARNm du neuropeptide anorexigène pro-opiomélanocortine (POMC) dans la région du noyau arqué. Nos études révèlent également que les niveaux de lipides intramyocellulaires (IMCL) sont augmentés de six fois chez les souris déficientes en C5L2 (C5L2KO) par rapport aux souris sauvages (WT) suite à un régime riche en graisse. De plus, chez les sujets humains, l’expression protéique de C5L2 est réduite chez les patients diabétiques de type 2 par rapport aux témoins obèses. L'entraînement physique a augmenté l’expression protéique de C5L2 et la production d’ASP chez les hommes obèses insulino-résistants. Enfin, nos travaux avec les souris déficientes pour le récepteur du C5a (C5aRKO) montrent qu’après 12 semaines de diète riche en graisse et en sucre (DIO), les souris C5aRKO présentent une diminution du poids corporel ainsi que des dépôts adipeux gonadiques et inguinaux plus petits que leurs homologues WT. Des taux de triglycérides et d'acides gras non-estérifiés plasmatiques plus faibles et une clairance postprandiale plus rapide des triglycérides ont aussi été constatés. Nous avons donc démontré que la voie ASP/C5L2 représente une cible intéressante autant dans le contrôle de la prise alimentaire que dans le métabolisme des acides gras du muscle squelettique.<br>Obesity is a major health problem that results in an imbalanced energy metabolism. Acylation Stimulating Protein (ASP, C3adesArg) is a protein produced by the adipose tissue, which stimulates triglycerides (TG) synthesis and glucose transport by binding to its receptor C5L2. Our previous studies have shown that mice with a disabled C3 gene (C3KO) are ASP deficient, hyperphagic but of normal weight and demonstrate greater energy expenditure than wild-type mice. From these results, our goal was to determine the role of the ASP-C5L2 pathway in energy metabolism. In our first study, we observed that a central injection of ASP in the third ventricle of Wistar rats brought a reduction in food intake and body weight gain and an increased mRNA expression of the anorexigenic neuropeptide POMC in the region of the arcuate nucleus. Our studies also showed that the levels of intramyocellular lipids (IMCL) were increased six-fold in C5L2-deficient mice (C5L2KO) compared to wild mice (WT) after a high-fat diet. Furthermore, in humans, the protein expression of C5L2 is reduced in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with obese controls. Physical training increased protein expression of C5L2 and ASP output in obese insulin-resistant men. Finally, our work with C5a receptor-deficient mice (C5aRKO) showed that after 12 weeks of a high-fat and high-sugar diet (DIO), the C5aRKO mice exhibited reduced body weight and smaller gonadal and inguinal fat mass than their WT counterparts. This was accompanied with lower plasma levels of non-esterified fatty acids and triglycerides and faster postprandial triglyceride clearance. Our studies have demonstrated that the ASP/C5L2 pathway represents an attractive target in the control of food intake and skeletal muscle fatty acid metabolism.

Le VIH-1 possède sur le brin antisens de son génome proviral un gène codant pour une protéine nommée ASP (Antisense Protein). Le gène codant pour ASP est uniquement conservé dans le groupe M du VIH-1 responsable de la pandémie, ce qui suggère fortement l’implication d’ASP et de ses transcrits dans la virulence ou la propagation du VIH-1. Plusieurs études ont rapporté l’expression de transcrits antisens du VIH-1 et de la protéine ASP dans des cellules infectées in vitro et ex vivo. Cependant, malgré ces avancées, l’expression d’ASP chez le patient reste contestée, et les informations concernant sa fonction potentielle sont limitées. Afin d’appuyer l’existence d’ASP et de ses transcrits in vivo et d’améliorer notre compréhension de leur expression chez le patient, j’ai étudié les transcrits d’asp et la réponse anticorps anti-ASP dans des échantillons biologiques de patients infectés par le VIH-1. J’ai développé une technique basée sur l’immuno-précipitation de la protéine de fusion nanoluciférase-ASP pour détecter les anticorps anti-ASP, ainsi qu’une technique de RT-qPCR brin-spécifique pour détecter les transcrits d’asp. A l’aide de ces deux techniques, j’ai détecté la présence de transcrits d’asp dans les cellules isolées de 2 patients, et la présence d’anticorps anti-ASP dans le plasma de 4 patients. Chez ces 4 patients, la réponse anticorps anti-ASP fluctue au cours du temps et cible un ou plusieurs épitopes conservés d’ASP. Dans l’ensemble, mes résultats démontrent que le gène asp est exprimé au cours de l’infection par le VIH-1, et confirment l’immunogénicité de différents domaines de la protéine ASP. Bien que l’étude d’un petit nombre de patients ne permette pas d’analyser la protection éventuellement conférée par la réponse anticorps anti-ASP, la compréhension des paramètres immuno-virologiques qui gouvernent les fluctuations de cette réponse anticorps chez le patient pourrait avoir d’intéressantes retombées thérapeutiques<br>HIV-1 presents a gene encoding for a protein named ASP (AntiSense Protein) on the antisense strand of its proviral genome. The gene encoding ASP is uniquely conserved within the M group of HIV-1 responsible for the pandemic, wich strongly suggests the implication of ASP and its transcripts in HIV-1 virulence or spreading. Several studies reported the expression of HIV-1 antisense transcripts and of ASP protein in cells infected in vitro and ex vivo. Despite these progress however, the expression of ASP in patients remains a subject of debate, and limited information is available on its potential function. To support the in vivo expression of ASP and its transcripts, and to improve our understanding of its expression in patients, I studied asp transcripts and the antibody response anti-ASP in biologic samples from HIV-1 infected patients. I developed a technic based on the immuno-precipitation of a nanoluciferase-ASP fusion protein to detect anti-ASP antibodies, and a strand-specific RT-qPCR to detect asp transcripts. Using both technics, I detected asp transcrits in the cells isolated from 2 patients, and the presence of anti-ASP antibodies in the plasma of 4 patients. In these 4 patients, the anti-ASP antibody response fluctuates overtime and targets one or several conserved epitopes of ASP. Overall, my results demonstrate that the asp gene is expressed during HIV-1 infection and confirm the immunogenicity of different domains of ASP. Even though the study of a small number of patients does not allow assessing the eventual protection conferred by the anti-ASP antibody response, the comprehension of the immuno-virological parameters underlying its fluctuations in patients could have interesting therapeutic implications

Nowadays, many ASIP systems with high computational capabilities are designed in order to fulfill the increasing demands of technical applications. However, the design of ASIP system usually takes many man hours. Therefore, a number of EDA tools are developed to ease the design effort, but they limit the design freedom due to their predefined design templates. Consequently, designers are forced to use lower level HDLs which offer high design flexibility but require substantial design hours. A novel design automation tool called NoGap was proposed to balance such issues. The NoGap system, which is especially used in ASIPs and accelerator design, effectively provides high design flexibility and saves design effort for designers. The efficiency and design ability of NoGap were investigated in this thesis work. NoGap was used to implement an eight-way SIMD datapath of an ASIP called Sleipnir, which was devised by the Division of Computer Engineering at Linköping University. For contrast, the manually crafted HDL implementation of the Sleipnir was taken. The critical path implementations, done by both design approaches, were synthesized to the Altera Strtix IV FPGA. The synthesize results showed that the NoGap design although used 1.358 times as many hardware units as the original HDL design. Their timing performance is comparable (HDL/NoGap-60.042/58.156Mhz). In this thesis, based on the design experience of SIMD datapath, valuable aspects were suggested to benefit the future users who will use NoGap to implement SIMD structures. In addition, the hidden bugs and insufficient features of NoGap were discovered, and the referable suggestions were provided in order to help the developers to improve the NoGap system.

Nowadays, hardware designers want to get a powerful and friendly tool to speedup the design flow and design quality. The new development suit NoGap is pro-posed to meet those requirements. NoGap is a design automation tool for ASIP,it helps users to focus on the design stage, free them from module connection andsignal assignment, or integration. Different from the normal ADL tools which limitusers’ design ideas to some template frameworks, NoGap allow designers to im-plement what they want with NoGap Common Language (NoGapCL). However,NoGap is still not perfect, some important functionalities are lacking, but withthe flexible generator component structure, NoGap and NoGapCL can easily beextended.This thesis will firstly investigate the structure of Novel Generator of Acceler-ators and Processors (NoGap) from software prospective view, and then present anew NoGap generator, OpCode Assignment Generator (OpAssignGen), which al-lows users to assign operation code values, exclude operation codes and customizethe operation code size or instruction size.A simple example based on the Microprocessor without Interlocked PipelineStages (MIPS) instructions sets will be mentioned to give users a brief view ofhow to use OpAssignGen. After that, the implementation of the new generatorwill be explained in detail.What’s more, some of NoGap’s flaws will be exposed, but more suggestionsand improvements for NoGap will be given.At last, a successful synthesis result based on the simple MIPS hardware im-plementation will be shown to prove the new generator is well implemented. Moreresults and the final conclusion will be given at the end of the thesis.

Det ständiga uppväxandet av Internet, som framför allt var märkvärdig under de senaste åren, har lett till en informationsrevolution som förmodligen kommer att fortsätta ett antal år framåt i tiden. Databaser som sedan flera år tillbaka varit en grund för lagrings- och sökningsfält är tydligen inte mindre efterfrågat, för dess användning på så väl små som stora företag. Sammanslagning av dessa två världar (Internet och databaser) kommer att ge nya möjligheter för skapandet av avancerade informationshanteringsapplikationer. Sammankopplingen av databaser på Internet utförs med hjälp av olika tillvägagångssätt som kallas för gateway, och två av dessa är CGI och ASP som studeras i denna rapport med avseende på deras säkerhet och effektivitet. Under genomförandet av arbetet behandlas varje teknologi enskilt. Teknologierna jämförs sedan och detta leder fram till det slutgiltiga resultatet som visar att ASP är bättre lämpat än CGI vad gäller säkerhet och effektivitet.</p>
