Abstract:
In the cambium of linden, producing xylem with interlocked grain, domains active, as regards the occurrence of events, and inactive ones can be distinguished. The area of the cambium investigated was an assemblage of small domains among which at certain periods domains Z, and, at another period, domains S were active. The inclination of the grain was changing in the direction corresponding to the type of the active domains. Alternative occurrence of periods of activity of Z and S domains led to the formation of interlocked grain in the xylem, with a much longer wave than the height of a pair d

A new constitutive model for interface shear in concrete is presented. The composite is treated as a single-phase medium with no distinction in the strength difference between the matrix and the inclusions. The model consists of an assemblage of springs and a triangular asperity as a statistically equivalent replacement of the rough crack surfaces. The constitutive model relates the normal and shearing stresses and displacements in terms of the interface strength, contact areas, the contact angle of the rough crack surface, and the crack closing pressure. Graphene oxide (GO) oligo-layered laminates were self-assembled on porous ceramic substrates via their simple dip-coating into aqueous GO dispersions. To augment the stability of the developed composite GO/ceramic membranes and control the morphology and stacking quality of the formed laminate, short-((3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxy silane-GLYMO, (3-aminopropyl)triethoxy silane-APTES), and long-chain (polydopamine-PDA) molecules were involved and examined as interfacial linkers. A comparative study was performed regarding the linker’s capacity to enhance the interfacial adhesion between the cera

By mostly using Monte Carlo numerical simulation, this work investigates the densest-known packings and phase behavior of hard spherical capsids, i.e., hard infinitesimally thin spherical caps with a subtended angle larger than the straight angle. The infinitely degenerate densest-known packings are all characterized by hard spherical capsids that interlock and can be subdivided into three families. The first family includes crystalline packings that are constructed by suitably rotating and stacking layers of hexagonally arranged and suitably tilted hard spherical capsids; depending on the suc

AbstractDiscussions of space, place and intersectionality have been present in rural studies since the early 2010s. Drawing upon the ‘relational turn’ in rural sociology and geography, this research has tended to focus on the ways in which the materiality of rural space interlocks with the connective lines of the various identity markers (e.g., ‘race’, gender, classed, able‐bodied, sexuality and so on) of the body to produce criss‐crossing and rhizomic assemblages and networks of rurality that has ability to produce inclusionary and/or exclusionary experiences of the rural based on the social
