Abstract:
The article presents the systematization of approaches to assess the enterprises' level of competitiveness. The advantages and disadvantages of the most famous models for assessing the competitiveness of business entities are considered. The identified shortcomings made it possible to form a hypothesis for studying the enterprises' competitiveness, taking into account the industry factor, financial criteria and quality indicators of the enterprise. For the formation of an objective adaptation model for assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise, taking into account its industry specificity, the author's approach to assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise, taking into account industry specifics, based on the relative and qualitative indicators of the enterprise's activities, selected by the expert assessment method, is considered. For trade enterprises, groups of the most significant indicators have been formed that characterize the competitiveness in the areas of observation of the sales of a trade enterprise, its costs, financial position and financial results, for the market share of the trade enterprise, the level of prices for goods, for the level of service of the trade enterprise. The indicators characterizing the level of competitiveness of a trading enterprise are divided into relative critical indicators and a group of qualitative critical indicators, which are included in the calculation of the complex coefficient of enterprise competitiveness model based on the theory of effective competition according to the weighted average arithmetic formula. The article presents the results of approbation of the proposed methodology on the example of the “PAO Magnit” trading enterprise and its trade competitors operating in Voronezh. The obtained results of the author's methodology for assessing the competitiveness of a trading enterprise have practical significance; the proposed model can be adapted according to the criteria for selecting indicators and their quantitative indicator, which contributes to the use of this toolkit in future studies of the competitiveness of trading enterprises.

Abstract:
The article defines the ability of retailers, the ability of retailers to meet the requirements of consumers in high-quality products and trade services, taking into account local or regional characteristics. A generalization of the existing terminology allows us to understand the competitiveness of retailers as the ability of a retailer to meet the requirements of consumers in high-quality products and trading services taking into account local or regional characteristics. Assessment of the competitiveness level of a retail trade enterprise is carried out in the following sequence: selection of criteria and their assessment; determination of criteria weighting factors; calculation of a generalized criterion. To calculate the generalized competitiveness level of a retail trade enterprise, criteria and their scores are proposed, and their weighting factors are determined. An essential criterion for the competitiveness of retail enterprises is the degree to which they meet their real needs, which determines the different attractiveness of competitors to consumers. A direct comparison of retail enterprises in a series of similar ones (selling similar products or providing the same services) was carried out according to the main parameters (indicators): the atmosphere of the store, the internal environment of the store, the quality of goods and services, the image of the enterprise; financial and economic indicators. A comparative assessment of the competitiveness of retail trade enterprises has made it possible to establish that the Deya hypermarket is the most competitive trading enterprise. Along with this, it is necessary to direct the activities of the hypermarket to improve the financial and economic component and increase the image of the enterprise. One of the ways to increase the financial and economic indicators of a trading company is merchandising.

Abstract:
Besides the growth of globalization and informatization processes, the current stage of market relations development is characterized by the rapid development of competition in various fields and activities. At the same time, as the analysis of available studies on this issue has shown, a single universal approach to assessing the competitiveness of trade organizations has not yet been developed. As a result of the analysis of literary sources, a methodological approach to assessing the competitiveness of the enterprise has been recommended: the main stages and key principles of the analysis have been identified. It is determined that in the case of the study of the actual level of competitiveness in the context of existing approaches to assessing this indicator, it is advisable to use a factorial methodological approach. Based on the results of the application of the method of expert assessments, a system of indicators of the competitiveness of modern trade organizations is singled out. The most significant indicators forming the actual level of competitiveness include the price level index; absolute solvency ratio; purchase completion ratio; sales return ratio; market share indicator. The validity of the obtained results is confirmed by the calculated value of the coefficient of concordance and the results of comparing the calculated and tabular Pearson criteria. It is determined that the assessment system is based on a block system of criteria (effectiveness of the purchase and sales process, financial position of the business entity, quality of customer service, assessment of the market position) and the corresponding indicators of competitiveness, taking into account the key features of trading activity. According to the theoretical aspects of the developed assessment algorithm, its practical testing has been carried out on the basis of three competing trading organizations specializing in wholesale and retail sales of various categories of tools (OOO “Alliance Trade Service”, OOO “Sevprom Instrument” and OOO “Vash Instrument”). The values of the integral indicator of competitiveness of these trade organizations for 2019–2020 are analyzed in dynamics. Based on the comparison of the data, as well as the analysis of existing trends, the main problematic aspects of increasing the achieved level of competitiveness are identified, taking into account the specifics of a single enterprise functioning. The paper indicates the main areas of improving economic activity, which provide an opportunity to increase the actual level of competitiveness of trade organizations in the strategic perspective.

Abstract:
In the context of the evolutionary development of the concept of logistics in the enterprise management system, the problem is the incompleteness of the theoretical foundations of logistics activities of enterprises. The terminology of logistics management, description of synergistic relationships between logistics and other activities at an enterprise, assessment of the impact of such relationships on the competitiveness of an enterprise, and study of logistics reserves for increasing the competitiveness of an enterprise (which also include reverse logistics) need to be clarified. In this article, the authors, using a value-based approach, aim to clarify the role of logistics management in the process of forming the competitiveness of an enterprise, and, consequently, in the process of managing the latter. Again, based on the value-oriented approach, the article describes the place of reverse logistics in the structure of logistics management; the principles and advantages of using reverse logistics are summarized. The article considers the relationship between the competitiveness of enterprises, the value chain and consumer value. The structure of benefits that the value chain generates for the end consumer (benefits from ownership of goods, benefits of exchange, benefits of place and time, reputational benefits) is determined, and the role of logistics activities in creating such benefits is shown. In the context of focusing on maximizing consumer value, the necessity of integrating the work of various departments of the enterprise and partner enterprises in the implementation of logistics activities is substantiated. The essence of logistics management as a type of management that focuses on the management of logistics operations based on the formation of cross-functional and inter-organizational integration in order to optimize the functioning of the supply chain, maximize customer value for end users and increase the competitiveness of supply chain participants is disclosed. In the structure of logistics management, the author defines the place of reverse logistics, which is a type of phase logistics activity that creates competitive advantages for partner enterprises by strengthening integration in logistics chains, saving costs through the use of secondary resources in production processes, optimizing inventories, production and trade assortment in relation to current and future demand, and, as a result, maximizing consumer value for end consumers.

Abstract:
Magister Commercii - MCom<br>Political and economic sanctions between 1970 and 1994 isolated the inward-oriented economy of South Africa from global trends. A variety of factors, such as a challenging new global competitive environment, production overcapacity, falling protectionist tariff barriers in a period of liberalisation, world-class manufacture and globalisation, are contributing to the reform of the economy and the automotive industry. The South African automotive industry therefore faces a major reform in trade policy. The South African government introduced the Motor Industry Development Plan (MIDP) in 1995, to create the necessary levels of competitiveness, promote worldclass manufacture practices, increase levels of investments and exports that would consequently lead to the successful reconstruction and development of this sector of the South African economy. Subsequent research has shown that the successful adoption of world-class manufacture (or lean production) processes in the South African automotive industry is necessary not only for survival, but also for increased competitiveness of the industry and the improved economic performance of automotive firms. However, complicated links exist between the adoption of world-class manufacture for improved levels of operational competitiveness. for firm-level success, on the one hand, and long-term sustainability of the industry, on the other hand. Combined firm level economic success and long-term sustainability of the industry depend on factors such as international trends, connectivity to global value chains, modern technological capabilities, lean production and enterprise systems, substantial investments, increased exports, world-wide quality standards, as well as customer satisfaction, human resource development, advanced education, skills development, worker participation, government policy and institutional support. This is borne out by a recent study of the auto component sector, utilising a lean , production 'market driver' toolkit. The study found that although component manufacturers significantly improved their operational competitiveness, they have not necessarily experienced improved economic performance levels. More important is connectedness and integration into global value chains, via intermediaries, mergers and acquisitions. The changing political economy of automotive value chains is also important in shaping fum-level operational success and industry sustainability.

Abstract:
In the last few years, many researchers have highlighted the economic and cultural impact that crafts have on the development of territories, enhancing local identities and traditions. Various researches also point to the close relationship between trade (sometimes called ‘neighbourhood’ trade), crafts and historic centres, in terms of quality of life, and socio-economic and identity development of territories, showing their new centrality to processes of urban development and regeneration and the formation of social capital. It is evident how enterprise contributes to local development through social interactions based on negotiated and open collaborations between microenterprises, community and network. It was well argued how small business (commerce, crafts and neighbourhood stores) has always played an important role as a social garrison in sparsely populated areas, allowing cities and particularly urban centres to become more lively or livable, being able to give or take away quality from the city and the territory, attributing peculiarity, security and specificity to places or trivialising them in a homogenised landscape. Among the services of social utility recognised to the artisan workshop are: the guarantee of services useful to the livability of the place, the garrisoning of territories and the development of social relations, the promotion of local identity and its know-how, and the creation of employment opportunities through modest initial availability of capital. At the same time, the worsening recessionary dynamics that have occurred in the global economy over the past two decades and the disruptive digital transition have exposed such enterprises to increasing difficulties, disruptively accentuating the decline in competitiveness and propensity to innovate of a large proportion of craft SMEs, of which the socioeconomic literature does not see significant adaptations to the changed environment, such as reconfiguring the business model, adopting a totally new strategic plan adapting to the digital transition, generational transition, and adopting innovative organisational or system behaviours. This volume presents the Venice Original E-Commerce case – a project carried out by the Venice Metropolitan CNA thanks to the support of J.P. Morgan, the support of the Venice Rovigo Chamber of Commerce and the sponsorship of the City of Venice and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice – as a reference project intervention to focus on a possible model of intervention to support culturally-valued artisan micro-enterprises, intervening on the process of strategic renewal and the conditions to foster generational turnover, understood as an opportunity to fill the gap on the digitisation of the artisan sector.

Abstract:
The monograph examines the problems of sustainable development and energy efficiency using the scientific and methodological approach proposed by the authors for the development of regional fuel and energy programs based on the KhMAO, the Sverdlovsk region, and the oil and gas production enterprise JSC Yuganskneftegaz, and presents the results of the environmental and economic assessment. This approach allows us to evaluate and select the most effective investment project for the utilization of associated petroleum gas from the point of view of energy, environmental and climate security on comparable indicators (tons, rubles). The authors proposed to distinguish from more than 200 UN indicators four basic indicators: the change in the green area (country, region, city, household) for the year; the level of energy efficiency; the amount of pollutants released per year; the annual amount of greenhouse gas emissions. It is proposed to consider the possibility of using the" energy " ruble of S. A. Podolinsky (kW / h) as a possible world reserve currency. Taking into account the unique experience of the region's participation in various projects of sustainable development, energy-efficient and low-carbon economy, it is proposed to create a market for waste and greenhouse gas emissions on the basis of the trade exchange of the Sverdlovsk region as a pilot platform for the implementation of the green economy. The history of the term "green economy", the essence of this concept is considered; the results of the application of green economy in different countries are shown. The international experience of green solutions and technologies is analyzed, the psychological aspects of the transition to a green economy are studied. For all those interested in the environmental development of the economy.

Abstract:
Did 9/11 revive a North American guns-butter trade-off? Established in the largest administrative overhaul since World War II, the Department of Homeland Security was charged with keeping the United States safe within a wider security community, but confronted the Washington Consensus-based Western Hemisphere free trade movement, beginning with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and extending to the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) in 2003, to materialize a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) compact. Whether 9/11 restrictions impeded these trade-related thrusts or not, embracing neoliberalism permitted Canada and Mexico to pursue their own initiatives, such as proposing free-trade to the US—Canada in 1985, Mexico in 1990, but, as during the Cold War, security imperatives ultimately prevailed. This work investigates Canada's and Mexico's Department of Homeland Security responses through three bilateral studies of policy responses along comparative lines, case studies of security and intelligence apparatuses in each of the three countries, and a post-9/11 trilateral assessment. Ultimately, they raise a broader and more critical North American question: Will regional economic integration continue to be trumped by security considerations, as during the Cold War era, and thereby elevate second-best outcomes, or rise above the constraints to reassert the unquenchable post-Cold War thirst for unfettered markets replete with private enterprises, liberal policies, and full-fledged competitiveness?

Even before the essay was formally published, the Wall Street Journal jumped at the chance to carry a summary of a piece that bluntly claimed that having an industrial policy was not effective even in Japan and, therefore, that the United States should not experiment with a policy that contained a strong socialist element of ‘centralized management’ (Zinsmeister, 1993).

Abstract:
Abstract In Britain, currently, much attention is being paid to a postulated sea change in production practices and to the use of integrated production technologies to support a new approach to manufacturing. New methods imported from Japan, coupled with the use of software systems such as computer-aided production management (CAPM) originating in the United States, are seen as being the significant means by which British manufacturing competitiveness can be improved. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), industrial practitioners, management consultants, academics, and journalists have all contributed to this idea. This chapter considers the promotion of CAPM technologies as “plug-in” solutions to current British industrial problems and examines the expectations of accompanying shifts to “Japanized” methods of production that have been generated by suppliers, consultants, and government agencies. The popularity of this new ideology of manufacturing has to be seen as part of a more general reorientation of British capital toward regaining some competitive advantage in the international marketplace. While these manufacturing methods and technologies are also gaining currency across Europe and America, in Britain this rhetoric of manufacturing is also strongly rooted in the political culture of Thatcherite (and Majorite) society. In Britain, the new manufacturing ideas have been accompanied by a powerful emphasis on the resurgence of capital, the growth of the private sector. the primacy of market forces, and the renewal of enterprise.

Abstract:
The competitiveness of product being offered is very important for company's competitiveness and successful business development. In Bulgarian forestry the main product is timber. It provides more than 85% from the revenues of state enterprises (DP), which are established with art. 163 from Forest Act (ZG), for management of state forest territories. Because of that the goal of this paper is to offer and verify practically applicable approach for complex quantitative assessment of competitiveness of timber, which is realized from territorial departments (TP) of DP. In current study the assessment of timber competitiveness is done on the basis of quality and price. Criterion for the quality of production is the maximum realized quantity of timber from the respective category and tree species. On the basis of the two sub-indicators, which are transformed from named to unnamed values through the classical standardization formula and linear ordering towards point-pattern in two-dimensional space is done ranking of TP state forestry ranges (DGS) and state hunting ranges (DLS) of Southwest State Enterprise (UZDP) Blagoevgrad in terms of competitiveness of deciduous firewood sold from temporary storage1 in 2018.

Abstract:
This article is devoted to the issues of increasing the efficiency of the enterprise. The development of measures to improve the efficiency of the enterprise requires, first of all, an adequate assessment of the existing efficiency. There are many approaches to assessing the effectiveness of an enterprise in the market, but almost all of them are based on economic indicators. The purpose of the study is to develop an approach to managing the efficiency of an enterprise based on its stage-by-stage assessment. The process of managing the performance of an enterprise is considered as a set of stages that include both the conduct of evaluation activities and the development of strategic decisions to improve the efficiency of the organizations functioning in the market. The proposed evaluation system allows assessing the effectiveness of an enterprise not only by formal economic indicators, but also taking into account the current situation on the market and the position occupied by the enterprise in it, through the prism of the marketing mix. Conducting an assessment of the effectiveness of an enterprises activities according to the proposed methodology is one of the logical stages of the process of managing the effectiveness of an enterprises activities based on marketing tools, the basic model of which is also proposed in the article.

Currently, the competitiveness of an enterprise determines its environmental responsibility and environmental safety for the environment and the population. A certain amount of substance-energy, part of which is inevitably dissipated in the production process into the environment in the form of various influences, is spent on the production of a useful product. The simple design of performance indicators combined three areas into a common model – energy, economics and ecology - in which the global crisis manifests itself.

Abstract:
Agri-food supply chains are increasingly vulnerable to the pressures and disruptions stemming from geopolitical instability, pandemics, population growth, and various societal, economic, and environmental challenges. At this critical moment, the study of foreign trade flows in agri-food products is of high importance to the European Union, considering that the results of such evaluations could assist in the development of strategies to optimise trade flows in alignment with emerging market opportunities. Both endowed with abundant factor resources, Romania and Italy have the opportunity to leverage their advantages in this turbulent global environment. By assuming leadership roles within the European Union, they can strengthen the competitiveness of their agri-food sectors. Given this context, the objective of this research was to propose strategic directions to improve the level of food security and economic performance of the Romanian and Italy's agri-food sectors, according to the findings derived from a comparative assessment of foreign trade flows. Therefore, this article addressed a literature gap by proposing an assessment framework focused on mapping trade patterns that can mutually maximise economic benefits. Descriptive statistical analyses and a correlation matrix were performed based on the data extracted from the International Trade Centre's database, covering the period from 2013 to 2022. This research revealed a fundamental contrast: Due to limited processing capabilities, Romania is dependent on exporting low-priced, unprocessed agricultural materials, mainly cereals and oil seeds; while Italy excels in exporting processed agri-food products with high added value, namely beverages, spirits, vinegar and preparations of cereals. Both countries should intensify collaboration by leveraging their respective strengths to counterbalance their weaknesses, thereby leading to the mutual advancement of their agri-food sectors.

Abstract:
Amid the evolving US-China tariff realignment and the broader restructuring of global value chains, this paper evaluates the vulnerability and strategic positioning of the Philippines alongside four other ASEAN economies—Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. For the ASEAN-5, the key challenge lies in minimizing exposure to import flooding from displaced Chinese goods and potential exclusion from global value chains if competitiveness falters, while also capitalizing on trade and investment diversion opportunities. Using a Tariff Exposure Composite Index (TECI), the assessment reveals that the Philippines and Malaysia fall within the moderate-to-low risk tier, owing to relatively low reciprocal tariff rates and strong exemption coverage—particularly for high-value electronics. Indonesia is classified as moderate risk but is more vulnerable due to limited exemption coverage and a dependence on low-tech, commoditized exports. Meanwhile, Vietnam and Thailand are in the high-risk tier, driven by steep tariffs, significant US export dependence, and only moderate levels of tariff exemption. Absent a coordinated and forward-looking policy response, the Philippines and its ASEAN neighbors risk becoming passive bystanders in an increasingly fragmented trade landscape. However, with strategic alignment of trade and industrial policy, the deployment of robust trade defense tools, and deeper ASEAN collaboration, these economies can reframe the current disruption as a platform to reposition themselves as high-trust, tariff-resilient production hubs in the new global trading order.
