609 Background: Black patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are less likely to have major pathologic response (MPR) following induction chemotherapy compared to non-Black patients. Rare reports have suggested that Black patients are more likely to be CA 19-9 non-producers. We aimed to determine if disproportionate rates of CA 19-9 nonproduction underlie racial differences in neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in patients with localized PDAC. We also explored differences in somatic mutations between CA 19-9 producers (CAprod) and non-producers (CAnonprod). Methods: Black and Whit

Background: Research funding disparities contribute to clinical-academic workforce inequalities1-3. Hence, our study explores the association between student demographics and research grant application rates and outcomes among UK medical students. Methods: This is a national multicentre cross-sectional survey of UK medical students in the 2020-21 academic year. Multiple zero-inflated negative binomial regression and generalized linear model (binomial distribution; logit link) were utilized to investigate the association between student demographics, number of grant applications submitted, and

Background: Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) ranks as the seventh most common cancer globally, yet significant disparities persist in mortality rates across ethnic groups, especially in the United States (US). Hispanic and Non-Hispanic (NH) Black men exhibit higher cancer-specific mortality rates for HNC compared to NH White men, indicating gaps in cancer prevention, early detection, and genetic risk profiling for these groups. The influence of genetic ancestry on HNC risk remains understudied, particularly within Hispanics, who have a diverse ancestral composition. This study aims to elucidate the

Abstract Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a lethal malignancy associated with skeletal muscle cachexia which results in chemotherapy intolerance, nutritional deficiencies, physical debilitation, and increased mortality. Survival time is significantly lower for those with cardiovascular-associated mortality, and Black patients face a disproportionately higher risk of overall and cardiovascular-associated mortality. Minimal literature exists on the impact of PDAC on cardiovascular function and the implications on disease course. The aim of this study is to utilize cardiac

51 Background: The U. S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendation regarding prostate-specific antigen (PSA) transitioned to a grade D recommendation against PSA screening for adult males in 2012. The impact of this recommendation against PSA screening on prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM) in contemporary cohorts is unknown. Our study evaluated PCSM between 1999-2019, comparing mortality rates before and after this change to screening guidelines. Methods: Age-adjusted PCSM rates per 100,000 men were obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics from 1999 – 2019.

Diseased tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cvs. Geronimo, Rebelski, and Big Dena) plants were received for diagnosis from a home gardener in Wayne County, Ohio, in August 2013 and from a 0.14-ha greenhouse in Brown County, Ohio, in September 2013. Approximately 10 and 60% of leaf area was diseased in the home garden and greenhouse, respectively. One or more lesions, each with an indistinct border, were observed on the leaves. Black fungal growth was observed on both sides of the leaf in association with the lesions. Microscopic examination revealed Cercospora-like conidia (2). Three symptomatic

Abstract Introduction: Racial disparities in breast cancer (BC) outcomes continues to be a major health care challenge. The 21-gene recurrence score (RS) is an important tool to guide treatment (tx) decisions among women with early-stage BC. We report an analysis of clinical characteristics, survival outcomes and race in association with RS in participants (pts) in the RxPONDER trial. Methods: We analyzed clinical outcomes with respect to race and ethnicity. Unreported race excluded 18.7% of the pts, with most due to privacy rules. The primary outcome was invasive disease-free survival (IDFS).
