Abstract:
The artificial intelligence required to create self-directed automobiles relies heavily on the capability of precisely perceiving the environment around oneself. Most self-driving automobiles include several detectors, which work together to form a multi-source perception of the surroundings. Extended use of a system that drives autonomously will introduce a variety of worldwide and local failure indications due to the extreme sensitivity of the instruments involved to ambient or environmental situations. These failure indications pose significant risks to the technique’s security. The paper presents a real-time information synthesis system incorporating techniques for identifying flaws and accepting faults. The compact connection can be recognized if the qualities mentioned above are provided, and the input information properties may be retrieved in real-time. One way to use the newly introduced method for assessing device reliability is to compute the detectors’ worldwide and local degrees of trustworthiness. In order to ensure the precision and dependability of information combination, problem data is filtered out, and monitor duplication is used to assess both the worldwide and local assurance levels of data from sensors at the moment. The chronological and geographic association of data from sensors allows for this. Experimental findings show that the network’s algorithms can outperform current techniques in terms of both rapidity and precision and can pinpoint the object’s location even when specific sensors are blurry or broken. This research established that the proposed hybrid structure benefits autonomous vehicles’ real-time reliability and speed.

Pyrotechnic articles fall into the field of dangerous products, Risk Class 1 - explosives, thus requiring the assurance of their security quality in order to make them available on the market. The family of pyrotechnic articles also includes pyrotechnic articles for vehicles. The main types of pyrotechnic articles intended for vehicles are: actuators (triggers), airbag gas generators, airbag modules, igniters, micro gas generators, semifinished products and seat belt pretensioners safety. Since pyrotechnic articles for vehicles are only used in the composition of security devices in vehicles, they must meet the essential security requirements, being subjected to trials and tests based on harmonized standards for this field. The paper highlights the results of the experimental tests that were obtained using the latest generation specialized equipment intended for the determination of the triaxial vibration parameter and under conditions of variable temperature with predetermined cycles, in order to evaluate the security quality of pyrotechnic articles intended for automobiles (pyrotechnic actuator for automotive use, seat belt pre-tensioner) included in category P1.

Abstract:
For decades, formal methods have offered the promise of verified software that does not have exploitable bugs. Until recently, however, it has not been possible to verify software of sufficient complexity to be useful. Recently, that situation has changed. SeL4 is an open-source operating system microkernel efficient enough to be used in a wide range of practical applications. Its designers proved it to be fully functionally correct, ensuring the absence of buffer overflows, null pointer exceptions, use-after-free errors, etc., and guaranteeing integrity and confidentiality. The CompCert Verifying C Compiler maps source C programs to provably equivalent assembly language, ensuring the absence of exploitable bugs in the compiler. A number of factors have enabled this revolution, including faster processors, increased automation, more extensive infrastructure, specialized logics and the decision to co-develop code and correctness proofs rather than verify existing artefacts. In this paper, we explore the promise and limitations of current formal-methods techniques. We discuss these issues in the context of DARPA’s HACMS program, which had as its goal the creation of high-assurance software for vehicles, including quadcopters, helicopters and automobiles. This article is part of the themed issue ‘Verified trustworthy software systems’.

Stainless Steel is a family of versatile materials that has been put into a wide variety of application by mankind. Stainless steels are iron-based alloys containing minimum 12% chromium and upto 25% nickel with minor additions of carbon, nitrogen, molybdenum, tungsten, titanium, niobium, copper and selenium. It has a wide range of applications from small pins to the construction of automobiles, petrochemical, space, aeronautical, ship building industries, nuclear and thermal power stations. Certain grades of stainless steels, because of their biocompatibility are used for manufacture of biomedical implants. In fact steel touches every sphere of our daily life. By and large stainless steel family consists of hundreds of grades with varieties of compositions and a large spectrum of mechanical properties. The corrosion and oxidation resistance of stainless steels have been significantly improved through fine-tuned chemical compositions and microstructural constituents, leading to the evolution of super stainless steels. Stainless steel development from design to application is a long-term continuous effort. The recent advances in stainless steels are mainly due to new ways of manufacture, processing and usage of advanced equipments. In spite of inroads by a range of competing materials, stainless steels occupy an important place as structural materials, because of their outstanding strength to weight ratios, ductility, fracture toughness, repairability, corrosion, etc for a given cost. Over the years, MIDHANI has catered to the requirements of Indian Space, Nuclear, Thermal, aeronautical and Defence sector for many high performance materials. Abstract:
We live in a world of near continuous monitoring. In our automobiles we monitor the status of fuel, oil pressure, temperature, and seat belts through gauges, lights, and electronic voices. The consumption of electricity and fuel in our homes is monitored as is the chlorine in our drinking water and the alcohol in our beer. Manufacturers retain quality assurance inspectors and issue warrantees and guarantees to convince us that all is well. We monitor our schools and measure our own progress through grades and proficiency scores. It seemed appropriate, therefore, that the Illinois Natural History Survey should take a measure of the living natural resources of Illinois by bringing together a knowledgeable group of persons to summarize the state of the State. In order to share this information and to provide an opportunity for discussion, a symposium, "Our Living Heritage: The Biological Resources of Illinois," was sponsored by the Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources and organized by the Survey. The event, timed to coincide with Earth Day 1990 celebrations, was held on April 2.^ and 24 on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was attended by nearly 250 professional scientists from some 50 agencies and institutions along with a number of interested and dedicated citizens. To share the results of that symposium with an even larger audience, we have issued this publication of its proceedings. To address the salient features of the living resources of Illinois in an ordered fashion, the symposium was presented in five sessions: forests, prairies and barrens, wetlands, streams and caves, and agro-urban ecology. When we consider that only (.).59t of Illinois remains in undisturbed natural areas, that Illinois ranks 46th among states in publicly owned open space per person, that forest acreage has decreased by 73% in the past century and tallgrass prairie by over 99%, that 85% of our wetlands have been lost, that soil erosion proceeds at the rate of 200 million tons per year, and that approximately 30,000 tons of herbicide and 3,500 tons of insecticides are used annually on agricultural crops in Illinois, we can scarcely imagine the tone of the symposium to have been anything but pessimistic. In part, there was discouragement, but it was tempered by positive developments, including the designation of the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River as a National Wild and Scenic River, the acquisition of the Cache River Basin, the initiation of a study to identify high-quality Illinois streams based on biodiversity, and the ever quickening actions of the Nature Preserves Commission. Preservation/conservation has been in conflict with consumption/development since the days of Theodore Roosevelt. At times one side seems to prevail over the other, but the balance has been clearly on the side of consumption. Special interest groups have to a considerable extent managed to give the word environmentalist a pejorative cast and the word development a positive ring. During the past decade, the executive branch of the federal government has determinedly downplayed environmental concerns, and that stance has been translated into inertia in a number of federal agencies with responsibility for natural resources. The focus of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, for example, has until very recently ignored the living components of the environment. At the same time, public sensitivity to environmental concerns has dramatically increased, primarily through public service television and other media-generated presentations on tropical deforestation, extinction of species, depletion of the ozone layer, agro-chemical contamination of groundwater, and the effects of acid rain. Some of this concern is now being transformed into political action. Polls suggest that the public understanding of environmental matters is quite high, and some beheve that it exceeds the perceptions of elected officials. A Green Party has emerged in this country only very recently, but Greens are a part of both major political parties and the trend in federal legislation may soon begin to sway in favor of conservation/preservation and away from consumption/development. The National Institutes for the Environment may well become a reality within the next several years. Within this tentatively encouraging national picture, the symposium was timely indeed. One symposium event of special interest cannot be documented in these proceedings — the "citizens respond" program of Monday evening, April 23—and I would like to note it here. Michael Jeffords and Susan Post of the Survey opened that session with a mulitmedia presentation on the biodiversity of Illinois. Their slides of representative plants and animals and habitats of the natural divisions of Illinois brought home to us the beauty and fragility that can yet be discovered in the landscape of our state. A panel presentation by five environmental activists followed: Clark Bullard, Office of Energy Research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Max Hutchison, Natural Land Institute of The Nature Conservancy; Lawrence Page of the Illinois Natural History Survey; Donna Prevedell, farmwife and contributing editor to the Progressive Farmer, and Michael Reuter, Volunteer Stewardship Network of The Nature Conservancy. They spoke briefly but openly on preservation activities in which they had been closely involved. The discussion was then turned over to the audience, who asked questions and shared their experiences—successes and failures—with preservation efforts. I urge you to read on in order to understand the status of the biological resources of Illinois and to appreciate how much remains to be accomplished to secure their future—and ours. I would be remiss, however, if I did not conclude by acknowledging the committee of Survey staff who planned and conducted the symposium: Lawrence Page, Michael Jeffords, Joyce Hofmann, Susan Post, Louis Iverson, and Audrey Hodgins. Their efforts included developing the program, arranging for speakers and facilities, producing and mailing promotional materials, and welcomine the audience. Without their enthusiasm and hard work, the symposium v^ould not have materialized and our understanding of the biological resources of Illinois would be much diminished. Lorin I. Nevling. Abstract:
The research is in two parts : in the first part entitled : the insurance contract we study the relation between the insurer and the insured. The second part deals with the rights of the injured party to compensation. Thus the conclusions of the thesis can be expressed in a few short, but meaningful terms, i. E the increasing role of insurance the decline of liability and the increased rights of the injured party to compensation in french law in terms of compulsory motor insurance and liability. And so thr theory according to which the interest of the injured party would be better defended in a system of insurance where by the risk theory is applied is no longer valid. In irak the risk theory is applied but many of the victims are deprived of their right to compensation because the lawmakers maintain the principale of default

The subject of this thesis is the study of the formation of trades on the automobile insurance market in a framework of asymmetric information. The first part presents a survey of the literature of the economics of insurance with imperfect information. The two last chapters are devoted to the elaboration of theoretical models of the automobile insurance market with adverse selection and to empirical tests of these models. These show the existence of a self-selection behaviour with overestimation of the risk by the insured

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with the Moroccan law as to the compulsory automobile insurance, which is known for its reciprocal feature, for to the obligation of «being insured»which is overwhelming to drivers corresponds the obligation to «insure»which is compulsory for the insurers. Within this framework, the Moroccan legislator has visibly adopted, just like his French counterpart, a compromise between two possible conceptions of the automobile risk: the «intuitu rei»conception and the «intuitu personae»conception: the one that links the warranty to the vehicle and the one that ties the warranty to the insured driver, leading thus to a hybrid system of insurance liability. The adoption of the first conception is the surest means to find a respondent for every accident caused by a determined vehicle. The second conception takes into account the qualities of the driver and encourages as a matter of fact the efforts of prevention. Therefore, the compulsory automobile insurance has brought deep transformation to the law of obligations as well as to the field of liability. Upon the view of private law contract, a legal status is imposed on the insured and insurers. The former becomes «subjugated» to the legal regime of insurance and the latter becomes supplier of warranty. The social role of this institution governs the following situation: insurance is at the service of the public

Abstract:
For a long time, insurance has been perceived as a way of transferring responsibilities from insured agents to insurers and thus as influencing insured agents' behavior. Two opportunist behaviors have been analyzed. First, the theory of adverse selection predicts that high-risk agents are likely to want more insurance than low-risk agents. Second, the theory of moral hazard predicts that the wider is insurance coverage, the lower is the level of preventive effort. Thus, both theories conclude that agents who are totally insured should have a higher probability of accident than those who are only partially insured, ceteris paribus. Nevertheless, one of the aims of insurance rating systems which use deductibles and bonus-malus systems and discriminate between insured agents according to drivers and vehicles' characteristics, is to control for these opportunist behaviors. In this thesis, we use individual data to see if the french automobile insurance rating system achieves this aim. In the first part, we present microeconomic contributions explaining adverse selection and moral hazard behaviors. In the second part, we estimate econometric models adapted to traffic risk analysis : count data models (poisson model, binomial negative model, etc). In the third part, we present the french automobile insurance market and build a model illustrating adverse selection and moral hazard behaviors. We conclude that insurance is no longer a factor of risk on its own : the french automobile insurance rating system is efficient to control insured agents opportunism. However, since insurance companies do not usually use mileage to calculate premiums, agents who take out the best insurance coverage drive more than others and thus, they have a higher probability of accidents

Abstract:

Abstract:
The Tunisian automobile insurance pricing is based on the power of the car and a posteriori pricing mechanism called bonus-malus system that has been adopted since 1993. This thesis proposes, after a presentation of the most significant results of the literature on adverse selection (chapter one) and moral hazard (chapter two), to attempt to analyze in chapter three the relative importance of factors explaining the number of accidents during a period of time and to build up optimal bonus-malus tables based on the number of past accidents by the individuals (Lemaire, 1985 ; Dionne and Vanasse, 1992). In chapter four, we evaluate the efficiency of the bonus-malus plan. Our analyse is based on panel data. The estimates are based on random effects Probit and negative binomial models. This chapter is an application and extension of the articles published by Dionne and Vanasse (1992-1997). We conclude by stating that the bonus-malus, applied by insurers, is not optimal in the actuarial sense and, that it doesn't present an incentive for prudence concerning high-risks

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Humans are mainly leading creature of the nature. We can say that humanoid robots will lead the future of ours. All the human made things like automobiles, hand-phones and many multimedia devices that we use, humanoid robots will be definitely the best helper for human beings. We don’t know what will be happen in future and we don’t know in future how robots are going to behave with us and are they good or harmful for us. But it is sure, we are strange human beings, we shall surely enhance the new leading breeding of robots. A humanoid robot is a robot which has its overall function based on that of the human body. Instead, improving humanoids robots are demand the enactment of manipulation abilities, which is even the most difficult issue in robotics. Robots can live up to this anticipation because in time to come smart and self-control robots will free humans from, or ease them up of, continually assurance bodily and intellectually demanding routines. Examples- In future many surgical operations will be done by robot doctor; in hospital robot nurse will help us to support patient; in many military operation robot soldier will be our essential hand; in future to make our society much safer robot guard are very helpful for our safety. The list of several entreaties with smart and self-governing robots is spreading. As man-made understanding continuously grows, in future there may be a time in which robots become unequalled or greater to humanity. No concern what our fortune will, there will be a place for robots.

Abstract:
Machine Learning is seeing accelerating growth in its use across a wide swath of applications ranging from wall mounted thermostats to automobiles. Even the historically conservative aviation industry is beginning to explore the use of machine learning in benign applications, e.g., predictive health monitoring, and beyond, including plans for flight critical applications such as navigation solutions. With the potential push of machine learning into flight critical applications, airworthiness practitioners concerned with software should ask: are there concerns with using machine learning in flight critical airworthiness applications? The goal of this paper is to answer this question with a resounding 'yes', by identifying some specific concerns. These concerns include data-driven development, uncertain (statistical/probabilistic) output, and extending to functional behavior, repeatability, non-rigorous development, and specific deployment environments. Beyond just identifying the concerns, this paper proposes approaches to build justified confidence in the use of machine learning in flight critical applications through combined evaluation of performance assurance, development assurance, and mitigations.

Abstract Great engineering achievements, from the Aqueducts of Rome and Hausman’s Sewer System for Paris to the Boeing 757 and the Space Shuttle, have always benefitted from international influence and content. The reliability of engineering structures and systems has always engendered the confidence of international users. U.S. citizens drive European automobiles with confidence and Europeans drive across U.S. bridges without pause. Today, international content is extensive, often formalized and regulated and a permanent part of tomorrow’s engineering. Engineers both participate in their profession worldwide and evaluate and accommodate international content at home. Multinational companies demand multinational engineering practice. “Credentials without borders” is desired. Accreditation is key to quality assurance.

Abstract:
Abstract Automobile users in the city are battling a serious problem these days with adulteration of Fuel. With an increased number of petrol pumps dispensing ‘unfit’ fuel, ‘dirty fuel’, consumers complain that vehicles are now faced with a range of glitches including poor ignition, reduced mileage and even jammed engines. Apart from causing inconvenience, this has also added to the maintenance cost of automobiles, say users, with the price of spare parts, especially engines skyrocketing by the day. Adulterated petroleum products in automobiles contributes to auto malfunctions, urban air pollution, health hazards and has continued to increase in Nigeria due to scarcity of products. Laboratory analyses normally conducted by regulatory agencies and some end - users for routine assurance of the petroleum products are not competent enough to address the issue. To effectively technically detect petroleum products adulteration in an automobile at real-time with the use of an indicator system on the dash board of the automobile, the technology of an electronic device, adulterate meter is being incorporated. The said indication system having an input are supplied by the ignition system. The design is such that as soon as the fuel sample torches the base of the fuel tank, or a change in chemical composition of fuel purity, an electrical signal, mostly a load cell sensor or a voltage signal is connected to the sensor situated at the base of the fuel tank. The output signals from the detector circuit are conditioned to produce outputs which can be measured with color display and alarm.

Abstract:
The modern automobiles have become software intensive, with electronics features replacing many of the traditionally mechanical systems, and automating many of the drivers’ tasks. This transition brought new challenges to engineering design. The control system software exhibits unprecedented complexity, whose states cannot be exhaustively tested. Software does not fail like hardware due to random noise factors. Electronics and software update and change rapidly. Engineers have limited engineering experience and historical data to draw upon. Automating traditional manual tasks of the drivers may also lead to accidents. Safety regulation for automotive electronics is in its infancy, and standards do not yet provide adequate safety assurance. Motivated by these challenges, this paper compares a number of hazard analysis methods for their ability to address the challenges posed by the modern automotive electronics systems. The System Theoretic Process and Analysis (STPA) framework developed for system safety engineering presents a paradigm shift, and is the most effective at identifying causes of hazards. As the first application on modern automotive electronic systems, STPA was applied to the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) feature. The outcome was compared with the ACC design standards and the actual vehicle implementation to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
