Abstract:
The asterism of Veronica’s Veil reported by Rheita in 1645 is argued to be real, though inconspicuous; not a star cluster; and not correlated with Johannes Zahn’s picture published in 1686 and widely redistributed. The asterism is most likely the rectangle bounded by ρ Leonis, β Sextantis, ο Leonis, and ι Hydrae, with some scattered interior stars interpreted as a face.

Abstract:
AbstractIn 1677-8 Robert Boyle fell victim to a French confidence trickster, Georges Pierre des Clozets, who claimed to belong to a secret society of alchemists, 'the Asterism'; the leader of the Asterism was described as the 'Patriarch of Antioch', resident in Constantinople. New evidence shows that Georges Pierre had contrived to publish two short articles about this 'Patriarch' in a Dutch newspaper, and that one of these was given to Boyle to corroborate Pierre's claims. These articles provide further information about the nature of Pierre's invention. Most importantly, they show that his 'Patriarch of Antioch' was modelled on, and explicitly connected to, a contemporary alchemist in whom Boyle already had an interest: Francesco Giuseppe Borri.

Georges, Anne Marie. "Le processus astériforme : une clé pour appréhender la clinique du sujet victime de violence." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011LYO20020.

Full text
Abstract:
In situations where violence is deliberately inflicted from outside, the victim is propelled into a position where the present is infiltrated by an actualisation of the past and provokes a deep confusion linked to internal experiences of past events and primordial traumas. This experience has a test value and forces the beginning of the psychical work.Three axes of research are proposed in considering the victim experience in domestic as well as public violence:- To consider using acted, nightmares and verbalisation process of repetition as agents of change.- The body and the psyche as surfaces for reception and figuration of violence.- The use of expressed salient details as a driving force of the trauma treatment.Following an attack, the psychic asterism approach provides reference points and is able to promote the recovery process by way of diffraction, focusing an reunifying. In an attempt to represent the unrepresentable together with the reality of death, the victim will start to sketch the beginning of a figuration which he will be able to grab.Following a collapse, there begins to appear a possibility of rebuilding

Full text
Abstract:
ASTERISMS is a collection of lyric poetry that seeks to express a sense of awe for the natural world by exploring themes of science, art, and the self. By combining physics and metaphysics, scientific terminology and musings on love, ASTERISMS argues that these seemingly-disparate fields of knowledge can harmonize in unexpected ways. In its style, the collection draws from the works of Dorianne Laux, Pablo Neruda, and Annie Dillard. Most of the poems are written in free-version and are tied together by images of astronomy and wilderness, both modern and prehistoric. Poems about classical music appear as interludes meant to complement others concerned with science and technology, as music too has its own invented language. Like asterisms - ancient inventions meant to personalize the expansive mystery of the night sky - this collection seeks to admire, if not completely understand, our place in the natural world and cosmos beyond.

Hörlin, Sara. "ToIP functionality in Asterisk." Thesis, Linköping University, Department of Computer and Information Science, 2007. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-9761.

Full text
Abstract:

In the thesis the advantages with Text over IP (ToIP) is explained and it is motivated why it is a good idea to integrate this in Asterisk. It also presents an implementation of a ToIP extension in Asterisk.

ToIP means communicating over a network based on Internet protocols with real-time text. Real-time text means a character is sent to the receiving terminal as soon the sender has typed it or with a small delay.

In the thesis IM and ToIP is compared in a survey. The result point at IM is not better than ToIP even though it is much more commonly used. VoIP can not replace ToIP either because there are occasions when ToIP is better for instance if the person using it is deaf or if a person want to make a private conversation in a noisy room.

Asterisk is an IP-PBX. PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange which means a private telephone system which is part of a larger network system that exchange information.

An IP-PBX is a PBX based on the Internet. Asterisk and many other IP-PBX can also exchange calls between the PSTN ant the Internet. By including ToIP in Asterisk it will be possible to exchange ToIP calls.

The implementation described is not only including ToIP in Asterisk but also a translation function between the text format called t140 and another text format called t140 with redundancy.

The idea is to extend the translation function in the future to more text formats.
