Abstract:
Sign language is the most important way of communication for hearing-impaired people. Research on sign language recognition can help normal people understand sign language. We reviewed the classic methods of sign language recognition, and the recognition accuracy is not high enough because of redundant information, human finger occlusion, motion blurring, the diversified signing styles of different people, and so on. To overcome these shortcomings, we propose a multi-scale and dual sign language recognition Network (SLR-Net) based on a graph convolutional network (GCN). The original input data

Background. The problem of the origin of the Glagolitic alphabet, its origins and the first years of Slavic writing can rightly be called the “cursed question” (questio dia-bolica – B. Uspensky) of Slavic studies, as attempts to connect the Glagolitic alphabet with any of the existing alphabets did not lead to any convincing results. Until now, the only relevant ideas of P. Shafarik remain, expressed about 150 years ago. Purpose. The aim of the article is to systematize and analyze historical and modern ideas (from the 90s to the present day), which are expressed by researchers regarding the l

Abstract:
This paper addresses the semantic typology of internally-headed relative clauses using a case study of two West African languages, Atchan (Kwa) and Bùlì (Gur). Both languages exhibit syntactically-similar relatives, involving overt movement of the head. However, quantifiers on the head are interpreted differently in the two languages. In Atchan, quantifiers on the relative-clause head take the entire relative clause as their restriction; in Bùlì, quantifiers on the head take only the head noun as their restriction. I propose that the former is interpreted via NP reconstruction and Trace Co
