Study of rainfall trend is of great importance in India where food security and consequently economy primarily dependent on rainfall. Present work is carried out to perform the detailed analysis of temporal variability in North East India rainfall. Temporal variation in monthly, seasonal and annual rainfall over northeast India (NEI) is studied using monthly data for 150 years (1857-2006). Magnitude of trend in time series data is determined by using both parametric and non-parametric test i.e linear regression and Man-Kendall test. Abstract. Climate variability in the North Atlantic sector is commonly ascribed to the North Atlantic Oscillation. However, recent studies have shown that taking into account the second and third mode of variability (namely the East Atlantic – EA – and the Scandinavian – SCA – patterns) greatly improves our understanding of their controlling mechanisms, as well as their impact on climate. The most commonly used EA and SCA indices span the period from 1950 to present, which is too short, for example, to calibrate palaeoclimate records or assess their variability over multi-decadal scales. This group had a wide distribution in the Brazilian territory, presenting variations in richness and abundance, which may be related to seasonality, habitat structure, and changes in resource availability. The objective of this study was to characterize the small mammal community and analyze the influence of precipitation on the capture of species in the Atlantic Forest area in Sergipe, northeastern Brazil. Abstract An upgraded version of the Hadley Centre’s monthly historical mean sea level pressure (MSLP) dataset (HadSLP2) is presented. HadSLP2 covers the period from 1850 to date, and is based on numerous terrestrial and marine data compilations. Each terrestrial pressure series used in HadSLP2 underwent a series of quality control tests, and erroneous or suspect values were either corrected, where possible, or removed. Marine observations from the International Comprehensive Ocean Atmosphere Data Set were quality controlled (assessed against climatology and near neighbors) and then gridded. Th

Multiyear time series of SST for each month are used to investigate the statistical relationship between SST variations from the 12 months. To obtain approximate stationary conditions, the trend and a multidecadal oscillation are removed from the data. The remaining SST residuals exhibit remarkable correlation between successive months, due largely to persistence. PCA dem

Studying pre-industrial tropospheric O3 implies two important challenges: (i) the lack of observational records prior to the late 19th century, which hampers the understanding of long-term climate trends (given the crucial role of O3), and (ii) and the uncertainties in quantitative tropospheric O3 values in a non-polluted atmosphere across the planet. Using Customs Bills of Entry, Williams presents data of cotton receipts from the United States to Liverpool; quantities of bales exported; numbers of vessels; origin ports of vessels; distinguishes between regular and occasional cotton traders; arrivals at Liverpool by nationality; and vessel tonnage. He determines that the majority of vessels participated in the cotton trade seasonally, and suggests that the cotton trade was not self-contain

The gendered maxim ‘men must work and women must weep’ comes from Charles Kingsley's 1851 ballad 'The Three Fishers'. Virginia Woolf appropriated 'Women Must Weep' for early version of Three Guineas, serialised in The Atlantic Monthly (1938). This chapter argues that the public nature of Woolf’s polemical anti-fascist essay may, concurrently, be read as a more intimate document about personal grief and grievance. For Woolf her sister, Vanessa Bell, was the weeping woman, devastated by the tragic death in 1937 of Julian Bell in the Spanish Civil War. Duncan Grant drafted posters (reproduced her

This study addresses the intricate attributes of NBCRs, utilizing data acquired from two deepwater moorings offshore Guyana.
